Ma, da, sve istina. Nije katastrofa, prije realnost.

Ja bih Bošnjaka i drugog Leku.

Ljudi super je igrat nogomet, moš nabit, moš glavom, kako god oš a moš i rukom i još ti sve plate.

    Bobika,
I hope you're well. I've been checking out this blog for some time now but have held off on posting until now.
I just wanted to share with you my thoughts about the game and perhaps analyze a little what I think went wrong.
Firstly, I'd like to apologise about the language. My cro isn't what it use to be so I'm going to stick to english as its the only way I can express my self eloquently enough.
Now I'd like to get right to the point.

I think what happened in the game against Australia could just be the best thing that ever happened to us if we chose to accept it and learn from it.

I'll explain why I think that in the next few paragraphs.
I've noticed that your self and your avvid readers have pointed out pretty much evertyhing there is to point out about the game from a technical standpoint so I won't dwell on that too much.
I will however point out one thing that you and your readers have overlooked. One point that I think is a sticking point and a major reason why Croatia is going home after doing so little in this world cup.
I believe that it is our attitude and our approach to the game, which is fundamenatly flawed, that has brought us an early defeat.
Allow me to qualify that statement.

We have a self defeatest attitude and this is the main reason why we are going home so early.

Lets be honest here people. Our attitude stinks. When I hear the coach Zlatko Kranjcar say stupid stuff like '...we are already looking past the Brazil game...' I can't help but pull my hair out. Why in the world would you EVER say a dumb thing like that?
I can't understand why no matter how hard I try. Bottom line though, if you say stuff like that you DESERVE TO LOSE!!!
When I say 'Self Defeatest' attitude, the above example is a perfect illustration of what I mean.
Without even getting in to the specifics on the game or any game that we have played in this world cup, our attitude can explain why we are going home early.
Some of the other reasons in my opinion are as follows but not neccessarily in that order:

    1. We are lazy
    2. We are disorganised
    3. We have no sense of unity
    4. We have no leadership (this one goes out to you coach)

Our attitude is abysmal and we should be ashamed.
Our approach to the game is not any better and is a direct reflection of our attitude.

There I said it and I feel better now.
Every nation that we have played has run circles around us and we have let it happen.
    WHY IS THIS SO?
    WHY I ASK?

Is it related to the lack of talent on our squad? I think not! We have plenty of talent which is workable. Certainly a lot more talent than Australia.
    So why then?
Plain and simply put, we have no fighting spirit. We have no 'never say die' fire in the belly.
We have no spine and we certainly have no bravado. We are not confident, not even a little.
This all comes down to attitude folks.
I look at the way Germany plays and has always played. They're not loaded with talent to be sure but what they have in abundance is fighting spirit. THey are willing to work their heart out for 90 mins even if it means every single one of them will die from exhaustion after the 90 min is up.
Take any game as an example you want. Against Japan, we just stood around for the most part and did nothing really. Every time they had the ball we let them run with it till their heart's content. Every time we had the ball, they had 2 men baring down on our guy with the ball.
For once I would have like to have seen the croatian team run for 90 mins straight. We lacked pace in every game and looked asleep.
We have plenty of ability but no spirit. How sad!!

On the leadership front, I think that Zlatko Kranjcar should be fired immidately as he is ultimately responsible for our lack of leadership and our poor attitude and approach to the game. After all it is the coach's responsibility to motiviate his players in to playing well and he has failed to do this miserably.

I think fundamentaly, we have no other problem that that. Attitude and approach to the game is miserable and needs to change. The game starts and ends with a positive attitude and until we learn how to nurish this attitude we will not succeed.

I think this loss is a perfect opportunity for us to rebuild our psyche and emerge victorious from defeat in a sense that we improve on our approach to the game from a psychological standpoint and we change our attitude forever.
I think this will be a rather difficult task for us to achieve however, if not impossible.
After all, we are a nation that celebrates 2nd and 3rd place finishes.
I think we only need to look as far as germany to get some idea of how we could improve. Brazil also emobdies a winning attitude and this is why they win most of the time. They go in to every game knowing that they WILL WIN. And I thnk if we're going to get anywhere we need to convince our self the same thing. WE WILL WIN IF WE WANT TO!!!
    Yes br

    ...continue...

Yes brazil has lots of talent that's true but so do we. The only thing we lack is a winning approach to the game of football.

Ok a brief history lesson now. Over the last 25 years lets have a look at the winners of the world cup:

    2002 - Brazil
1998 - France (this one probably hurts the most as it was suppose to be croatia)(god knows we had the talent that year)
    1994 - Brazil
    1990 - Germany
    1986 - Argentina
    1982 - Italy

Ok without going any further do you notice a pattern there? That's right only nations from South America and Western europe have ever won the world cup. Each one deserved to win except for France they're a useless waste of space and were just lucky to get by Croatia that year.
We should have been on that list. We deserved to win that world cup and we could have won if we believed in our selves a little more. We certainly had the best team that year.
Yet we finished 3rd and we celebrated. That's the part that I don't get. Why the FUCK would you celebrate a 3rd place finish??? Because we think this is a big achievement. I disagree.
To put that in perspective, who else on top of your head do you know that's finished in the 3rd place in the last 25 years? Don't answer that its a rhetorical question. The answer is, 'Who the fuck cares!!!'.
Noone cares about a 3rd place finish. Only number 1 counts. And we better start believing that we can be number 1 otherwise why bother playing???
Why bother showing up to the game unless we believe we can win?

Now on to the leadership. We need to look outside croatia for this one. There are no leaders in croatia sadly. There isn't a single croat that has the balls to say, WE ARE THE BEST AND WE CAN WIN THE WORLD CUP!!!
What I suggest is this: Lets go out and hire a modern coach. Someone like Guus Hidick or Zico (perhaps japan will let him go).
Someone who not only has the balls to win, but can convey a winning attitude in to the hearts of our players. Someone who is not afraid to kick some ass and put the fear of god in to our players should they chose to bring anything but their best attitude and their best game forward on game day.
Someone who is a master tactitioner. Someone who will tell our players 'Alright men, for 90 mins nobody stops running'. 'For 90 mins you die on that field and if you live, it will be only after you have died to secure the WIN for your team and for your brothers fighting along side you.
Someone who has radicaly new ideas on how to win a football match and isn't afraid to actually admit that his team is the best.
This is a perfect time to fundamentaly change the way we play this game we love so much.
It all starts with the attitude.
That's the biggest thing croatia has lacked against Australia. Game strategies come and go but attitude is what makes the difference.
    Thanks for listening.

Tehnozena, I agree with you. Trece mijesto 'nije lose', ali ja mislim da smo mogli bolje!
Please don't mis-understand. My criticism has no ill intent. I love Croatia and I want us to do well, and not just in football either but in all things. I get rather upset when I see us fumble around and fuck about specialy since I know that we can do better. The point is we all want us to do well. Wanting it is just a start though. We need to make it happen. We are the architects of our successes and our failures and I feel as though we just didn't bother trying in this world cup. We worked so hard for 4 years to qualify only to fuck about when we needed to lift our game. Against Brazil we had every chance to win the game. Against Japan even more so. Against Australia much the same.
The only thing we were consistent at is failing to deliver and that surely must fall on the shoulders of our beloved coach. We all know the key to our success has to be hard work and discipline. We don't have to re-invent the wheel here. We only have to look as far as germany for discipline and hard work. I can't stress that enough, 1. Attitude, 2. Hard work, 3. Discipline, 4. Talent. Talent we have the first three we don't.
I also believe that we need to look outside of croatia for leadership. We should seriously consider hiring someone like Guus Hidink. The guy is a genius. He somehow convinced the Australian team that they're better than Croatia which we know is not true but again this game is as much psychological as it is physical. Not to mention the guy is a master strategist and tactitian and a great motivator. Perhaps we also need to look outside of the game of football for inspiration on tactics and strategies. American football is a game built fundamentaly on strategy and tactics and they're geniuses at devising a game plan. I guess all I'm saying is, LETS BE CREATIVE!!!
    Anyway I digress.

Larissa, you'll have to forgive me but I don't remember a 'Larissa' from school. Perhaps if you would be so kind to tell me your last name it will come back to me?
Vedran is fine. He lives in Vancouver though and I don't get to see him much unfortunately.

To the rest of you, Pozdrav iz Australia i molim vas oprostite za jezik.
    Cheers.
