The Mirror
Will we see the mirror again?
I think it’s quite obvious what part the mirror will play in book seven. As far as I remember, when Sirius falls through the veil he still has the mirror and Harry still has his too. Perhaps he’ll be able to contact Sirius? I know nothing happens when he tries it after Sirius dies, but there’s always a chance
I do not believe that the mirror will play a significant role. We know that when Harry looks at the mirror at the end of OotP, he does not see anything. He then angrily throws down the mirror and we hear it break. Should he have decided to use a fixing charm he probably would have done it in HBP. It is not mentioned, but he most likely threw it away. “He looked back at the mirror, raised it in front of his face with trembling hands and said, loudly and clearly, ‘Sirius.’ His breath misted the surface of the glass. He held the mirror even closer, excitement flooding through him, but the eyes blinking back at him through the fog were definitely his own. He wiped the mirror clear again and said, so that every syllable rang clearly through the room: ‘Sirius Black!’ Nothing happened. The frustrated face looking back out of the mirror was still, definitely, his own. Sirius didn’t have his mirror on him when he went through the archway, said a small voice in Harry’s head. That’s why it’s not working. Harry remained quite still for a moment, then hurled the mirror back into the trunk where it shattered.” OotP, Chapter 38
I think when Harry tries to speak to Sirius through the mirror the first time, he says the wrong name. James and Sirius called each other not by their given names, but by nicknames (Sirius=Padfoot, James=Prongs). So, perhaps Harry needs to use the nickname to activate the mirror. I think Harry will eventually catch onto that and try the mirror again. (After he fixes it of course). Rowling has said that the mirror will come into play again, so we know that Harry is almost certainly going to use it, one way or another.
