On the way to Hoyo de Manzanares there is a gloomy black house on top of a hill. That was Franco’s kind of summerhouse. Today is deserted and destroyed, but still looks scary.
Guernica
Napokon smo je vidili. Veličanstvena je!
We finally saw it. It is magnificant!
Hoyo de Manzanares
To je malo misto (
klik,
It is a small town/village (
click,
click) at the outskirts of Madrid, and for us is important because that is where beautiful Blanca lives and she let us stay at her place with the above-mentioned pool. Other then pool another benefit of this small town is that is situated somewhere over 1000 metres and has wonderfully chilly summer nights which is perfect after Madrid heat (we’ll come to that). The photo shows the train station in Hoyo. Hoyo people really have style, we have to admit that.
Izgubljeno-nađeno/Lost&found
Min - ušli u autobus 612 umisto 611, shvatili di smo i kud ćemo zahvaljujući talijansken, rukama i nogama, došli na pravo misto uru vrimena kašnje
Lost-found
the mobile phone - left it in the hotel, remebered 5 minutes later and went back to pick it up
the wallet - left it in a shop, remembered 5 minutes and another shop later, came back to pick it and find it untouched
ourselves - got totally lost when we took bus 612 instead of 611, discovered where we are thanks to our Italian, came to the right place an hour later
Kafena/brown
“Aha” rekli smo i nastavili slikavat.
Brown, that was our first impression of Spain through the plane window – huge areas of brown. A native was sitting next to us so we asked him whati is that. “The province of Aragon” he said “a huge, dry and deserted area, and in the middle of that something like Las Vegas is planned.” “Aha”, said us and continued to take photos.
At first we thought “What does this means, we think nunc is nothing, but then nothing is drinking means nothing”. Then we consulted Google the allmighty and found out that Nunc est bibendum is from Ovid, and it means Now is the time for drinking. A great name for a bar, and also we always like to see that Latin is not completely dead.
A marketing trick, but still, we like to see when ads have literal references. Spanish railway invite us to come up and revive the spirit of Cervantes.
Kolonije
To ćemo drugi put, usprkos zvjezdanom nebu nad nama i moralnom zakonu u nama. Jakov, isto kako i u Čari. Onda bude velika fešta, korida, a ubijeni bik se svari i dili puku.
No, we havent’t been to corida. We’ll do that next time, in spite of the starry sky above me and the moral law within me”. What can we do, we saw it on TV and were fascinated. The closest we got to the corida is this monument in Hoyo. This black thing is a huge pot that symbolises the feast after the corida. The bull is cooked and the whole town than eats it.
La Mancha
Vozili smo se i kroz La Manchu. Don Quijotea nismo kontrali.
We drove through La Mancha. We haven’t encountered Don Quijote.
