*The "Healing Brush Tool" can be used to mend rare old photograps that are torn and worn out. The preservation method is to remove scratches, marks causes from bending, rips and coffee stains.*

1) Select the "Healing Brush Tool" first, and then indicate a source point that has a similar colour to the imperfected area and one that dosen't have any scratches by clicking "Alt" once and then begin brushing the imperfection.

2) Brush a few times over the same area, as it may not function the way you want it to the first time.

3) Use the tool in conjuction with the "Clone Stamp Tool" to colour over scratches...

4)...or to add more image to a cut off or torned part at the edges or in the middle of a photograph.

5) Finish the restortation process by cropping off the edge ("Crop Tool") and adding a new border and drop shadow.

6) To do this: go to Canvas size and add 0.2cm to both Width + Height

7) Right click the layer- "Layer styles" and tick the drop shadow option and apply.

*I also played wth the "auto contrast" and "Black and White" because it gives it a cleaner look and is then easier to edit due to the clarity of the scratches.

This photo belongs to my grandmom, she's the little girl in the foreground. The photo was taken in 1936....

The original has gone through a lot, as you can see. So, my father gave me that photo and asked if I could repair it. And here's what I did with it.

I printed the middle version in a5 size and gave it to my grandmom. She was very happy to see the old photo getting fixed :)

(The coloured version was just for my own experiments. I'm kinda happy how it turned out, though it has some flaws still...)
