- A wedding ring or wedding band is a metal ring indicating the wearer is married. Depending on the local culture, it is worn on the base of the right or the left ring finger. The custom of wearing such a ring has spread widely beyond its origin in Europe.
- Represent permanency, "until death us do part". (This may scare off your man though!)
- Don't get this confused with Engagement Rings. Engagement Rings are usually just a solitaire ring, i.e. One stone. The wedding ring is the complimentary band that accompanies that solitaire ring. Decorated in many different styles, and usually consisting of a lot more diamonds, either paved or set.

my parents wedding rings.
As an only child with a small extended family my folks are incredibly important to me. Married (now separated) after only 3 months of knowing one another I was born right after their first house was bought in the uptown area of Minneapolis in the late 70's and their wedding rings were designed by a local friend of theirs. Both of my folks have shown constant support throughout my life and provided me with massive inspiration in my adult life. Without knowing the other one had done so, they each gave me their wedding ring on separate occasions within months of each other. My mom's wedding ring also has the diamond from my grandmother's engagement ring. These would not be left behind.
