... i kada tako pregledate svu ovu silesiju filmova koji su bili kandidati i ostali bez Oscara ... nekima sigurno ostanje samo gorčina. Nakon 1928.g prvi puta ponovno je osvojio Oscara jedan nijemi film. Francuski film "The Artist" je ukupno osvojio 5 zlatnih kipića. Većina kritičara i pratitelja filmskog svijeta naziva ovo očekivanom pobjedom francuskog filma, no jedan od kandidata za ovogodišnju nagradu Oscar, film o filmu "Hugo" je odnio također znatan dio pozlaćenog blaga. Hugo je osvojio također 5 Oscara, no oni su svi tehničke prirode. Svejedno riječ je o jednom odličnom filmu koji svakako vrijedi vidjeti. Većini gledatelja će se upravo svidjeti prijemčljiviji film, svojevrsni crowdpleaser, definitivno osvajač ljudskih srca svojom toplom pričom. Sam pobjednik je unatoč tome što se očekivala pobjeda jedan od filmova koji je više festivalskog karaktera, ponešto zahtjevniji jer ipak u današnje doba zvučnog filma je mnogima nešto teže se prebaciti na metriku i sistem nijemog filma. No svakako ovo je odličan podstrek jednom našem filmskom festivalu, festivalu nijemog filma Pssst. da krene s još većim zamahom u ovogodišnjem izdanju. Dakle ponešto težak film za sasma običnog gledatelja. Iznenađuje da je samo jednu ali izuzetno vrijednu nagradu odnio film "Midnight in Paris", woodijev film bez Woodya koji je najšarmantniji od svih na popisu kandidata. Tako da ne iznenađuje osvajanje Oscara za najbolji originalni scenarij. Mnogima je razočarenje došlo u vidu podbacivanja George Cloonyeva filma "The descendants", iako je osvojio jednako vrijednog Oscara (za ponajbolji adaptirani scenarij) kao i recimo ipak puno kvalitetniji i inteligentniji film Woodya Allena,
Rezime ovogodišnje dodjele nagrade za Oscara jest da uz pokazivanje desne noge Angeline Jolie, koja se na taj način sprdala s glamurom noći najvažnije filmske nagrade, ostati će upamćen i po blijedim (pomalo repetitivnim temama, kao recimo "The help" neobičan ali opet po 10 000 put viđen film o rasizmu na jugu USA ) i ne toliko zanimljvim filmovima. Bilo je godina u kojima se barem isticao jedan izuzetno jaki kandidat, pa bio taj i nenagrađen, no za ovu godinu tako što ne možemo reći. Jedini film koji odiše jačinom performansa i daje onaj pečat zaslužene nagrade je film "The Iron lady" sa uvijek nevjerojatno fenomenalnom i neponovljivom Meryl Streep.
