The Bombay high court has asked tennis
Not satisfied with stand taken by the sessions court Ms Pillai moved the Bombay high court where the matter would be heard on August 22.After this, Ms Pillai also submitted her terms, to which lawyer appearing on behalf of Mr Paes said that he would show it to the Mr Paes when he returns to India. She had sought directions for not removing her from the house where she claims to be living with Mr Paes since the last few years. She had also sought maintenance from Mr Paes. The tennis player too had filed an application in the family court and questioned the ‘maintainability’ of Ms Pillai’s plea stating that the family court did not have jurisdiction to hear a case under Domestic Violence Act filed against him because they are not married. After hearing both the sides, however, the family court rejected plea made by Mr Paes following which he had moved the sessions court to challenge the family court’s decision.
The Bombay high court has asked tennis star Leander Paes and his estranged partner model Rhea Pillai to resolve their dispute amicably for the sake of their minor daughter. He told the court that the tennis player is out of the country for some tournaments.Ms Pillai had alleged Mr Paes and his father were harassing her and she had moved to the family court under sections of Domestic Violence Act..During hearing the judge observed efforts that were being taken by both the parties so she stressed on a logical end at least for the sake of their child. The sessions court had then said that before drawing any conclusions, it is necessary to hear the evidence of both the sides.Justice Revati Mohite-Dere on Wednesday asked the celebrity couple to think about future of their minor daughter and try to “try to come up with some kind of solution amicably.”On June 10, the high court judge had met with the couple in her chamber and had asked them to amicably resolve their issues. Following China slack adjuster this Mr Paes’s lawyer on Wednesday submitted his consent terms; however, Ms Pillai and her lawyer rejected them and said they were not acceptable

The manufacturing sector in the country attracted
However, about 39 per cent manufacturing projects in Orissa remained under implementation as of September 2015.S.The manufacturing sector in the country attracted live investments worth about Rs 33 lakh crore, about one-fifth of total li-ve investments worth over Rs 164 lakh crore drawn by various sectors across India as of September 2015, the study said.Orissa has the maximum share of over 17 per cent in the total live investments worth about Rs 33 lakh crore attracted by manufacturing sector across the country, according to a study conducted by industry body Assocham.Gujarat was ranked second (nearly 12 per cent) followed by Karnataka (11 per cent), Jharkhand (nine per cent) and Chhattisgarh (seven per cent), said the study titled “Impact analysis of delay in investment implementation in manufacturing” by Assocham.“Metal and metal products alone accounted for almost half (48 per cent) of the total live investments attracted by manufacturing sector in India followed by chemicals and chemical products (24 per cent), machinery (8 per cent), transport equipment (7 per cent), construction material (7 per cent), food and agro based products (3 per cent),” it said.Delayed projects facing cost escalation have maximum share of 31 per cent in Orissa followed by Karnataka, Rajasthan and Jharkhand (9 per cent each), the study said. Rawat, secretary general of Assocham, while releasing the findings of the chamber’s study.Highlighting the impact of delay in implementation of projects in manufacturing sector across India, the Assocham study noted that out of 1,160 projects that are in different stages of implementation, 422 projects have reported time or cost overruns worth about Rs 9 lakh crore or 50 per cent of the actual investment.“Considering that long delays in projects’ implementation hurts investors’ sentiment, the government needs to have a strong plan to prioritise speeding up stuck projects’ effective implementation by creating a target-oriented roadmap,” said Mr D.“Even investors Truck Clutch Boosters should be penalised if projects get delayed due to improper planning, change of ownership, lack of finance, absence of co-ordination with contractors and other related issues,” said Mr Rawat.

The medical college scam is even more scandalous
A recent study by the business chamber Assocham reveals that more than 5,500 business schools in the country are producing unemployable graduates. Most — some say 80 per cent — of the engineers that graduate from these colleges (except the IITs) are unemployable. What is surprising is that little or nothing is being done about this shocking injustice being perpetrated over the years. In the early years, some state governments permitted politicians to set up these engineering and medical colleges with or without any expertise and it soon became a money-making racket: anyone with some money and clout could and did start these colleges. Some out-of-the-box thinking is required and one hopes that Mr Amitabh Kant of Niti Aayog can provide this by taking into confidence people who can think differently on this critical issue of providing skill to the youth of India. There seems to be no one to regulate them, and if there is a regulator he is either not doing his job properly or accepting bribes and turning a blind eye.. This is not surprising; it is a fact known for years. It is little wonder, therefore, that as many as 220 of these bogus B-Schools have closed down as the students realise that there is hardly any recruitment happening on their campuses. The situation does not seem to improve despite not a day passing without various chambers and business houses expressing concern over the shortage of skilled workers. One of the biggest sufferers are the medium and small enterprises which cannot get skilled workers. These schools also don’t get enough teachers or good teachers as they pay poorly.
The medical college scam is even more scandalous as most of them don’t even have the necessary equipment or labs. They have never bothered to update their curriculum to keep pace with technological developments. This is the same story with the engineering colleges that sprout like weeds. Parents beg and borrow and use their hard-earned money to send their children to these B-Schools (excluding the IIMs) only to be told at the end that their children are unemployable and can get jobs that earn them barely Rs 10,000 a month. This spread to business schools because the need was so huge as the Truck Clutch Cylinders economy was growing and people with skills were needed. Companies have to re-skill them. The fees charged by these schools is between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5 lakh for a two-year MBA programme. The government has a national skill development programme but somehow it seems top-heavy and its expenditure is not justified by its output in the number of people skilled. Only seven per cent of them are employable, according to the study. However, there was no planning by the government or the authorities who decide these matters

The State Assembly was placed under suspended animation
Disqualification of the rebel MLAs, which is being considered almost a certainty in political circles here, will deprive them of the right to vote against Harish Rawat government which is slated to go for a floor test tomorrow in the state assembly.According to sources, replies to show cause notices issued to the MLAs are being examined and consultations are being held with legal experts on the issue. New Delhi: Pranab Mukherjee Sunday imposed President’s Rule in crisis-ridden Uttarakhand.Citing security reasons, the entry of media persons is not being allowed in the premises. Rawat is left with 27 Congress MLAs after nine revolted against him. There is a procedure for President's rule, which has emerged following precedence," Harish Rawat said, addressing the media in a press conference. The development occurred a day before the Congress government in the state was set to face the floor test in the Assembly. "We do not have any internal tussle. "They (BJP) have attacked democracy with money and muscle power," he said and appealed to the "right-thinking" people to condemn attempts by BJP to "murder democracy". They had met him yesterday seeking personal hearing in the matter, a request turned down by the Speaker.Chief Minister Harish Rawat and the Speaker held a Truck HUB Covers prolonged meeting, which went late into the night at the latter's residence.Meanwhile, suspense continued over the fate of the nine rebel Congress MLAs ahead of the trial of strength in Uttarakhand Assembly as lawyers of these legislators Sunday met Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal in a last ditch attempt to prevent action against them.
It is low-level politics," he added. The State Assembly was placed under suspended animation. It is not acceptable in a parliamentary system. It is BJP and RSS which are hobnobbing with the Congress rebels to create the crisis," Rawat said.He also has the support of the six-member PDF which take the tally to 33, two more than the simple majority mark in the House.Sources said the move was taken after Governor K K Paul submitted his report.About half-a-dozen lawyers met Kunjwal in his chamber in the state Assembly seeking personal hearing and more evidence in support of the charges levelled against the MLAs in the disqualification notice served to them by the Speaker just a day after trouble erupted in the state assembly on March 18.However, it claims at least five more MLAs on the other side are only waiting to cross over to its side.It will reduce the effective strength of the House from 70 to 61 and the simple majority figure from 36 to 31, which is likely to make Chief Minister Rawat's task easier.Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, in a press conference, accused the BJP of arm-twisting ‘a small border state such as Uttarakhand’ with President’s Rule.."The Centre is threatening a small state like Uttarakhand with President's rule.It was their second meeting with the Speaker in two days.BJP sources said state BJP MLAs, who were travelling to various places like Delhi, Gurgaon and Jaipur, are expected to reach Dehradun by tonight.Clarifying that the party was united, he maintained that there was no internal tussle. However, sources in the CMO said notification disqualifying the rebel MLAs is yet to be issued.BJP, on the other hand, has 28 MLAs of its own and nine of Congress who if disqualified will be of no use to it at the time of voting in the state assembly.Earlier in the day, CM Harish Rawat had accused the BJP of attacking democracy with money and muscle power

She denies wrongdoing and the IMF board
She denies wrongdoing and the IMF board has expressed confidence in her at each stage of the legal procedure so far. Vice President Joe Biden joked that he should ask her for a loan, adding: "You're doing a superb job."Any rival candidacy would be just symbolic - to put down a marker for the next time," said a senior IMF source.Lagarde has said she will appeal against a judge's order that she stand trial in a case involving alleged favors for a business ally of then President Nicolas Sarkozy."These are very important institutional elements which strengthen the IMF," Padoan said. Davos: The darling of the Davos political and financial elite, Christine Lagarde has a second term at the helm of the International Monetary Fund sewn up just days after nominations opened, despite facing possible trial in France. Her political skills will be tested before her first term ends in July in convincing the IMF board to continue to lend some money in Greece's third bailout program."Her critics, who generally prefer not to be quoted by name, acknowledge the former national synchronized swimming team member's political skills as a negotiator and spokeswoman for the IMF but say she is slack adjuster not an original economic thinker, unlike Strauss-Kahn. We don't feel any counter wind.‘Terrific job’Italian Finance Minister Pier Carlo Padoan listed some of the reasons why Lagarde has earned such wide support since she replaced disgraced French IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn in 2011 after he was arrested in New York for sexual assault, charges that were later dropped.Padoan cited her skill in shepherding through a reform of voting rights in the global lender, agreed in 2010 but long held up by the US Congress, to give greater weight to China and other emerging economies.Noting that the reform of the IMF's quota system had increased its war chest, she said: "This trend should continue.Christine Lagarde has a second term at the helm of IMF sewn up just days after nominations opened, despite facing possible trial in France. She kept the IMF involved in a series of financial rescues for euro zone countries, notably Greece, despite misgivings in less developed states in Asia and Latin America that had been subject to harsher IMF medicine in previous decades. In a gesture of cross-Channel entente, British finance minister George Osborne formally nominated the center-right Lagarde, 60, within minutes of the appointment process opening.Mexican central bank governor Augustin Carstens carried that torch when he ran against Lagarde in 2011, but he has just been reappointed for six years and no such challenge is in sight now.Endorsements quickly followed from France, Germany and Italy, as well as unofficially from the United States, which holds a blocking minority of votes on the IMF's board.By working patiently in Washington in support of IMF reform, she has managed to overcome for now frustration on other continents at a carve-up in which the United States has always nominated the head of the World Bank, and Europe the head of the IMF. "Everyone has cause to be happy with Lagarde."Whether out of diplomatic courtesy or lack of concern, no government has so far questioned whether she will be able to serve out a second term without being distracted by her legal troubles in France

Neither the members nor the people are satisfied
We’re not solving problems; we’re adding to them..“Neither the members nor the people are satisfied with how things are going.US legislators on Thursday elected Paul Ryan, a conservative Republican who helped steer budget and tax policy in Congress, as Speaker of the House of Representatives, seeking to end months of political disarray. We are wiping the slate clean,” Mr Ryan told fellow legislators after winning the vote.“Let’s be frank.Mr Ryan received an extended ovation and cheers from legislators and invited guests, including 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who chose Mr Ryan to be his running mate. The House is broken. The nine-term congressman from Wisconsin quickly called on Republicans and Democrats to work together to return the House to “regular order”.Mr Ryan — who had said he would take the job only if divided Republican factions would unify behind him — earned 236 votes in the 435-member chamber. We are slack adjuster not settling scores.Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi received 184 votes, while Daniel Webster, the rebellious conservative who launched a long-shot bid for Speaker in September, received nine votes. And I am not interested in laying blame.Colin Powell, the former secretary of state, received one vote, as did congressmen John Lewis and Jim Cooper. We need to make some changes,” he said, noting that a “respected minority” — referring to Democrats — would “work in good faith”.Mr Ryan, 45, now holds the most powerful job in Congress and is second in line to the presidency after the vice-president, should the Commander-in-Chief be impeached or otherwise vacate the Oval Office

The crushing poverty and persecution faced by widows
Loomba said the new UN global development goals, known as the SDGs, agreed in 2015, would never be met without addressing the problems endured by widows.Older widows living alone are particularly vulnerable to witchcraft accusations, putting them at risk of violence and even murder.Child marriage is another cause of early widowhood. Two of the most harmful traditional practices are "widow cleansing" and "widow inheritance", the report says.Older widows living alone are particularly vulnerable to witchcraft accusations. Young widows who cannot support their children are in turn more likely to marry off their daughters early, perpetuating the cycle.Cleansing rituals in Sub-Saharan Africa may require a new widow to drink the water used to wash her husband's corpse or to have sex with his brother or a stranger to exorcise her husband's spirit. The first goal is the elimination of poverty and the last goal is to leave no one behind - so I want to make sure widows are not left behind," said Loomba, a member of the House of Lords, Britain's upper chamber of parliament.
The crushing poverty and persecution faced by widows worldwide is outlined in a major report on widowhood which will be presented to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday. Many girls are left prematurely widowed after being married off to much older men. There are more than 258 million widows worldwide with one in seven living on less than $1 a day, according to the World Widows Report produced by the Loomba Foundation which works levelling valve to empower widows. Both fuel the spread of AIDS, Ebola and other diseases.Estimates suggest the number of widows has risen 9% since 2010, partly because of conflicts in the Middle East, the report said.."Widows have been suffering in silence for centuries, and yet nobody - no government, not even the UN - has ever attended to this problem," said Lord Raj Loomba, a campaigner on widowhood, who will discuss the issue with Ban in New York.Newly-widowed women in many developing countries are often plunged into destitution after being disinherited, stripped of property and evicted by their in-laws, sometimes losing their children. Those who remain reliant on their in-laws are often treated like slaves, abused physically, psychologically and sexually, Loomba said."We have got to link this issue to the SDGs.Widows may also be "inherited" by their husband's brother as a first or additional wife - a common tradition in parts of Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.Vicious cycleThe SDGs also include ending all discrimination and violence against women and girls, and commitments regarding women's access to property and inheritance.Beliefs that widows bring bad luck can lead to their exclusion from society, limiting their prospects for employment and entrenching poverty. London: Millions of widows around the world are left destitute after being robbed of their inheritance, while others are enslaved by their in-laws, accused of witchcraft or forced to undergo abusive sexual rituals, research shows.Loomba said superstitions surrounding widowhood mean they are often blamed for their husband's death and accused of witchcraft. The deprivation faced by widows is even more devastating because of the impact on their children who may be pulled out of school and forced into child labour or early marriage

This is resulting in a loss of reserves
Coking coal is expected to reach about 180 million tonnes per annum by 2025 New Delhi: Industry body Assocham has made a plea to the government to auction coking coal blocks, a move that would boost indigenous production and generate revenue for the exchequer. "Allocation of coking coal blocks to steelmakers has much merit because the industry is capable of efficiently utilising 100 per cent prime coking coal reserves from the blocks," said Rawat. "Assocham has urged the government to put coking coal blocks in auction mode and allocate the same through competitive bidding," the industry chamber said in a statement. The apex body also said many virgin blocks of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a Coal India arm, are currently lying underdeveloped despite being allocated long back and even the operating blocks of the company are unable to produce to their full potential. This is resulting in a loss of reserves, stress in inland transportation and logistics, together with congestion at ports," Assocham said. Besides, steelmakers in the public sector which have been allocated coking China air brake valve Manufacturer coal blocks have failed to ramp up production, it said. "Coking coal blocks should not be allotted on a nomination basis as it would delay the development of coking coal in India and create a non-level playing field in the steel industry," it added in a communication to the Steel Ministry. According to the Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat, there is an urgent need to revamp domestic mining to bolster production as the country's steel sector demand for coking coal is expected to reach about 180 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) by 2025, from the current level of about 50 mtpa. Owing to limited availability of appropriate coking coal quantities, there is a huge gap in the country's coking coal production vis-a-vis demand, two-thirds of which are being imported by the steel industry, it said

The bill now heads to the Senate
2 Senate Republican, said he would like to see the chamber take up the House legislation as-is, but that is uncertain. The bill would require new FBI background chec-ks and individual sign-offs from three high-ranking US officials before any refugee could come to the US from Iraq or Syria.Republicans said it was simply prudent to place new controls on the refugee system, without ending it entirely or requiring religious tests as some in the party, including presidential candidates, have demanded. “It just is common sense that we pause, re-evaluate and make sure that we have the proper standards in place to make sure something like what happened in Paris doesn’t happen here. The bill now heads to the Senate, where it sets up a clash with President Bara-ck Obama, who has threatened to veto the bill and has criticised Republicans for “hysteria” and falling short of their humanitarian duty to take in the oppressed.Senate Democrats are trying to shift the focus to other issues regarding travellers from overseas, and minority leader Harry Reid predicted Thursday’s bill would not be approved..The vote was 289-137, eno-ugh to override a threatened White House veto of the legislation, which was hurriedly drafted under new House Speaker Paul Ryan in response to the carnage in the streets of Paris last brake chamber Factory week.”The strong vote in the House could improve prosp-ects for the bill in the Senate.“This is an urgent matter and that is why we’re dealing with this urgently,” declared Mr Ryan. OK ,” he said. Forty-seven Dem-ocrats voted for the bill, despite President Barack Obama’s biting criticism of its proposed limits. “Don’t worry, it won’t get passed. The US House voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to erect high hurdles for Syrian and Iraqi refugees coming to American shores, dividing the President’s own Demo-cratic party as lawmakers reflected the anxiety of voters back home. These power figures provide a rather impressive pickup
These power figures provide a rather impressive pickup, which, is rarely a sight when it comes to electric vehicles. The City mode is for riders looking for ride quality as they spend their day on the city roads and traffic, while The Economy Mode promises efficiency and maximum range, over 90 Kms in a charge, but it significantly drops the speed which might get irritating sometimes. Astrid Lite also comes with a range of safety features with a side-stand sensor, anti-theft sensor and EABS (Electronic Assist Brake System) for more effective power brakes.7 KW and it has a company claim power of 2400W which at its peak performs at 4000W.PerformanceThe new Astrid Lite is available with three drive modes; sports, city and economy which provide a real-world range of 75 kms to 90kms and which can be doubled with an extra battery. That said, the range and performance are really what we consider sufficient levels for it to qualify as a viable replacement for a conventional ICE scooter. With its sporty design, I think it is the best looking electric scooter available in the market. What really impressed us was how this e-scooter would zip away from the earlier in city traffic, and even with a pillion rider, there is no substantial loss of power.. Unlike its competitors, it doesnt take long to understand that Astrids ergonomics are in line with those of the most conventional scooters in our market — you dont sit too low, the floorboard isnt too high and the handlebar doesnt come in contact with your knees. The urgent energy crisis and ongoing change in climate have shaken the entire world. It gets a decent amount of under-seat storage, but you still wont be able to fit a helmet in there because of the battery pack underneath. Overall it’s a light and a compact e-scooter. The other features include; a 12-inch alloy with hydraulic suspension, Cobm digital speedometer, LEDs with day time running light and a USB port that helps you charge your phone while driving. With decent power terrain, it does become a viable option for those who are looking for a decent, stylish and eco-friendly two-wheeler. Continuing this trend, Gemopai, a joint venture between Goreen E-Mobility and Opai Electric, has recently introduced its all-new electric scooter Astrid Lite.In Sports mode, as the name suggests, spring brake chamber it generates more power to the scooter, reaching maximum speeds of 65km/hour. At `79,999, the Astride is almost on par with todays crop of rather impressive 125cc scooters. Now, onto the scooter itself. Keeping the buyer’s taste in mind, the new Astrid Lite is available in five different colours.5 kg, which makes your life a little easier as you can easily take it out and charge while you are at, or at home sleeping — it only takes four to five hours to fully charge. The battery weighs around 8. With India planning to replace a significant portion of its conventional internal combustion engine fleet by electric vehicles in the next one decade, particularly to reduce pollution and also to create jobs through the manufacturing of such vehicles, every major automobile brand is moving towards electric mobility.PowertrainThe new Astrid Lite is powered by a removable lithium-ion battery of 1.VerdictThe Astride is the best that Gemopai has to offer at the moment. We recently got a chance to ride to put this e-scooter to the test on Indian roads, so does it ticks all the right boxes? Lets find out?DesignAt first glance, the Astrid does look sharp and edgy, thanks to its twin-headlight setup at the front. Switching to efficient and renewable sources of energy and curbing the greenhouse gas emission is of utmost importance at present. So if you are planning to save the environment and buying an electric scooter, the Gemopai Astride lite is something that you should look definitely for
