Saying Goodbye To Another Detroit Landmark The Lafayette Building, a 14 story office building in Downtown Detroit, was built in 1923 out of limestone and brick and designed by C. Howard Crane. It was in use until 1997 when it was finally shuttered. Over the past few years there have been plans to turn it into loft apartments, but water damage to the interior, along with other cost factors have prevented this from happening. The building was offered to Quicken Loans for $1 in order to try and entice them into making this their new headquarters, but to no avail. On June 25 of this year Detroit City Council voted unanimously to demolish this old icon. There is still a plan to redevelop this building going on, but they are running out of time. 2 restaurants currently in use, American Coney Island ( where the Coney Dog was invented ) and Lafayette Coney are attached to this building. You may notice the artwork on the windows on the left: Every window in this building is covered in graffiti. There is competition among taggers to outdo the artwork left by others on the window, and every now and then you'll see someone's painting scraped off and a new one placed in the window. Mock Tudor Maisonettes - Kooyong After the Great War (1914 - 1918), higher costs of living and the "servant problem" made living in the grand mansions and villas built in the Victorian and Edwardian eras a far less practical and attractive option for both those looking for new housing, and those who lived in big houses. It was around this time, in answer to these problems, that flats and apartments began to replace some larger houses, and became fashionable to live in. This stylish Mock Tudor or Tudorbethan block of two maisonettes, featuring a shared central wall between them would have suited those of comfortable means who could afford to live in Kooyong (the suburb in which these flats are located), and dispense with the difficulties of keeping a large retinue of staff. This cottage style of brown and red bricks with shutters and latticed windows follow the less cluttered lines of comfortable Metroland architecture that came out of England after the war. William Huskisson (1770 -1830). William Huskisson (1770 -1830). First Member of Parliament for Liverpool - 1825 -1830. Killed accidentally by a railway locomotive at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, 1830. 392/0/10361 DUKE'S TERRACE 05-MAR-10 Statue of William Huskisson II. Memorial statue. 1846. Cast by Ferdinand von Miller, director of the Royal Foundry in Munich, from marble statue of 1836 by sculptor John Gibson. Bronze. DESCRIPTION: Huskisson is depicted as a standing figure looking down in reflection. He is wearing a Roman toga with right shoulder and part of chest exposed. Left hand raised across chest and right hand holding a scroll. Behind is a bollard inscribed OPUS IOANNIS GIBSON ROMAE. / FUDIT FERD. MILLER MONACHII. / MDCCCXLVII. Modern granite plinth not of special interest. HISTORY: William Huskisson (1770-1830) was MP for Liverpool (1823-30), keen advocate for free trade, and supporter of Roman Catholic emancipation. First ever railway fatality, knocked down by Stevenson's Rocket on the occasion of the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830. A public subscription for a memorial raised Ł3,000 and a competition was agreed. Subsequently John Gibson, a celebrated local sculptor who had trained under Antonio Canova, was awarded the commission without recourse to a competition. A marble statue of 1833 was placed in Huskisson's mausoleum (q.v.), designed by John Foster Jnr in St James's Cemetery, Liverpool. A large number of subscribers complained that the statue could not be properly seen. Huskisson's wife paid for a second marble version to be made for the Customs House. It was instead placed at the Royal Exchange, London, now in Pimlico Gardens. Mrs Huskisson then paid for the third, bronze version. It was unveiled in 1847 in front of the Customs House. After World War II the Customs House was demolished due to bomb damage. In 1954 the statue was moved to the N end of the boulevard separating Princes Avenue and Princes Road. The pedestal remains, but the statue was pulled from it in 1982 because it was erroneously believed that Huskisson was a slave trader. It was then housed at the Oratory, St James's Mount Gardens until 2005, when it was moved to its present location. The statue has been restored since 1997 when it was described as having been coated in black epoxy resin and the surface of the bronze was extensively pitted with larger holes. SOURCES: Terry Cavanagh, Public Sculpture of Liverpool (Liverpool, 1997), 150-3. REASONS FOR DESIGNATION DECISION The memorial statue to William Huskisson is designated at Grade II for the following principal reasons: * It is a well-executed memorial statue by the renowned Victorian sculptor, John Gibson, cast in bronze from the 1846 marble version by Ferdinand von Miller, Director of the Royal Foundry of Munich * The subject is interestingly portrayed in classical drapery, in the manner of a Roman senator, giving an air of grave dignity and simplicity, in contrast to the prevailing fashion of the time of using contemporary dress for memorial statues * Huskisson, who was MP for Liverpool (1823-30) and advocate for free trade, is now most commonly remembered for his notorious death as the first ever railway fatality, being run over by Stevenson's Rocket at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830. Source: English Heritage From Public Sculpture of Sussex "On 15 September 1830, at the opening ceremonies for the world's first ever passenger steam railway (between Liverpool and Manchester), Huskisson was run over and killed by Stephenson's Rocket because he had not taken sufficient care before crossing the track to start a conversation with the Duke of Wellington. He lived for a few hours after the accident, was lucid enough to dictate and sign a codicil to his will, and met his end with dignity. He had been politically instrumental in bringing about the new and very visible triumph of technology that was the Liverpool and Manchester railway line. William Huskisson was born in Worcestershire in 1770. In 1793 he entered parliament as MP for Morpeth, Northumberland. In 1804 he was elected for the constituency of Liskeard and became Secretary of the Treasury. He held the same appointment in Portland's ministry of 1804-09. In 1811 he became a Commissioner of the Woods and Forests. In 1823 he was appointed as President of the Board of Trade and Treasurer of the Navy in Liverpool's ministry. Under Wellington he was Colonial Secretary but resigned in 1828. Huskisson had threatened to resign on a number of occasions. Wellington may have been completely wearied by Huskisson's constant threats to resign. Huskisson's tendered his resignation over what was to be done with the two parliamentary seats that were to be disenfranchised for corruption in 1828 (Penryn and East Retford) - not expecting his resignation accepted. Wellington perhaps was glad of an excuse to remove him. Charles Greville wrote about Huskisson, soon af A.I. Namm & Son Department Store Fulton Street Mall, Brooklyn Summary The A.I. Namm & Son Department Store building at 450-458 Fulton Street is the sole surviving portion of the important enterprise that once covered nearly one entire block, and despite the alteration of its base, remains a significant architectural and commercial feature of downtown Brooklyn. Adolph I. Namm was a Polish immigrant who transferred his Manhattan upholstery and embroidery trimmings business to Brooklyn in 1885. He opened a new store in 1891 at No. 452 on the stretch of upper Fulton Street that was becoming Brooklyn’s commercial nucleus. Namm’s business expanded into a highly successful department store that made him quite wealthy. Benjamin Harrison Namm, his son, succeeded in running the firm, which became A.I. Namm & Son. By the 1920s, Namm’s was one of the largest such American stores, in competition in Brooklyn with Abraham & Straus. This structure, Namm’s last architectural phase, was built in 1924-25 and 1928-29 to the design of architects Robert D. Kohn and Charles Butler, and consists of a structural steel frame with reinforced concrete floors, clad in Indiana limestone with bronze trim. The highly sophisticated, elegant modern design, with a rounded corner, contrasts monumental sculptural masonry piers, vertical window bays, and decorative bronze spandrel panels. The design was undoubtedly by Kohn, one of the few American architects who had produced aesthetically noteworthy and interesting work (c. 1905-15) influenced by the Vienna Secession. He explored a different modern aesthetic in the 1920s, a period when American architects were searching for modern architectural forms through various avenues. In 1957, this Fulton Street property, then Namm-Loeser’s Department Store, was purchased by the parent firm of Abraham & Straus and adapted for offices and stores. DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS A.I. Namm & Son Adolph I. Namm (1856-1920), born in Posen, Prussia (formerly and currently Poznan, Poland), immigrated to New York City around 1870. An Adolph Namm appears in city directories in 1877-79 as a dealer in frames on Eighth Avenue. A later newspaper article referred to Namm’s initial business as shades, screens, upholstery, and floor coverings. By 1882, he was listed with a trimmings concern on Sixth Avenue in the Ladies’ Mile shopping district, apparently continuing a family business. He transferred his enterprise to Brooklyn in 1885, relocating to No. 286 Fulton Street, about two blocks north of City Hall. An advertisement in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle called Namm a “dealer and manufacturer of upholstery and embroidery trimmings.” By 1887, Namm had expanded to the upper three stories of 335-337 Fulton Street (aka 310-312 Washington Street). As reported in the New York Times, he was arrested in 1888 for “selling mats made by convict laborers, and failing to label them properly.” The Fulton Street building that Namm rented burned to the ground (in a fire of undetermined cause) in December 1890. Though Namm estimated his loss in draperies, embroidery, and other stock to be about $50,000, it was reported that he expected to be reimbursed through insurance. The Times noted at that time that a few weeks ago Mr. Namm leased the lot at Hoyt and Fulton Streets for $10,000 for ten years, and started to erect a store to cost $60,000. He already has three stores, but he proposed to consolidate his business in this new building. An advertisement for a sale at Namm’s in March 1891 indicated that it was for “a short time only at the old store, prior to removal to our new building.” Namm’s new store at 452 Fulton Street, located between Hoyt Street and Elm Place, carried merchandise similar to the previous ones. It was eventually expanded into a highly successful dry goods store with 80 departments, and the business made A.I. Namm quite wealthy. He “always gave credit to his wife [Cecelia Meyers Namm]... for having been his strongest influence in building up the establishment from its beginning.” Due to poor health, though, Namm retired from active participation in the store in 1910. His son, Benjamin Harrison Namm (1888-1969), succeeded in running the firm, which became A.I. Namm & Son. B.H. Namm, who became president of the company in 1916, had studied at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, began as a stock clerk in his father’s store, and served in the Corps of Engineers and other divisions during World War I, becoming a major. He was a president of the National Retail Dry Goods Association (1945-46) and was active in Brooklyn civic causes, including the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities. His favorite sales motto was “Don’t sell America short -- sell it shirts.” B.H. Namm’s brother-in-law, Edgar Allen Baum, joined the firm as vice president. Between 1890 and 1940, the Namm establishment purchased most of the block on which its store was situated, except for several properties (Nos. 462-470) on the eastern end of the Fult Related topics: mastercraft shutters silent gliss blinds shade screens for windows domestic roller shutters boat shade covers patterns for drapery free plantation shutter plans awning kits springs blinds parts |

The Cable Car This sanatorium even had it's very own cable car. This old sanatorium was built by St. Jorgen Foundation in Bergen. It should serve as a tuberculosis hospital for the West Coast. Most patients came from the Bergen region, but there were patients from all over the country. The sanatorium was in operation until mid 1950's. The background for building the sanatorium here was said to be it's dry climate, pine forest and the thin mountain air. It was a recipe believed in the old days to cure people with tuberculosis. On this location they found a whole "package" - it was located on a hill and in a climate that one at the time considered "immune zone" against the disease. In the year 1900, the plans for the sanataorium was ready. The three story hospital would have 96 beds and modern spa and operating room. An extension was made in 1924 and the capacity increased to 120 beds, and by 1950 it had reached 150 beds. The construction plan in 1900 included also a separate laundry, stable and icehouse - and not least an electrically driven cable car from the steamship pier at the fjord and up to "rock shelf". It should also be built a 6 km stretch of road with 13 bends up the hill. The cable car and the power plant to the sanatorium are located in side buildings next to the sanatorium. Calculations showed that the large hospital facility would cost 456,000 norwegian kroner (approx. 76000$ - an enormous sum in those days. Most of the money was acquired in Bergen: Bergen city guaranteed for 200,000 kroner, and wealthy citizens for 175,000 kroner. The final amount turned out to be 777,000 thousand kroner when the plant was inaugurated on 2 in November 1902. On the opening party there was greeting telegrams from both the Swedish-Norwegian King and Queen, Parliament President Carl Werner and shipowner and later Prime Minister Johan Ludwig Mowinckel. Some years later, it was also built senior housing, two family dwellings for the stoker and the gardener, and "sister house" for nurses. there were also a separate chapel with mortuary. The first treatment they had to offer - before the vaccine against the disease came after World War II - was partly operations - partly different cures. One of the cures they used here was making sure the patients got enough air daily. Meaning they would lay outside in their beds in both in summer and winter, well-packaged in bags of reindeer skins. They were placed under a huge canopy along the entire south wall and this canopy prevented rain and snow to enter in their air spaces. Around the hospital there was built a large park with roads where patients who were strong enough could exercise. Another cure they used was known as 'Blowing of the lungs'. This took place inside the 'operation lodge'. The technique comprised much of the so-called "blowing". When tuberculosis attacked the lungs, it would eat the tissue, consume it so that it formed large cavities in the lung tissue. It was essential to close these cavities. This was done by puncturing the lung where the cavities had formed so that sick lung would collapse and the wounds would be healed exactly where the cavities formed. Patients here was almost fat on the heavy diet and the hospital had its own pig barn where they made sure that the pigs had an extra thick blubber layer before they were slaughtered. And it was also quite common for relatives to send food and treats in abundant quantities Every July a rich man in Bergen would send a cargo of oranges to patients and staff. The distance down to the village, the risk of getting infected and the fact that most patients were visitors, not locals - turned this place into a rather secrete and closed society. The sanatorium even had its own post office and therefore the people here would establish a separate social life. The whole complex was built in 1902 so that women and men were strictly separated. There were two bed suites, operation and cure rooms and separate dining rooms for each of the sexes. This separation of the sexes was kept strict up to a major rebuild that was done in 1937. Although there were strict gender segregation indoors, it was allowed for girls and boys to come together on the romantic paths in the park, as well as in the decorated assembly hall when it was organized parties, cinema, concerts or theater. Most of the patients here was young people, and those who were fit enough, would take part part in simple sports activities and games in the park outdoors. It was founded to concerts, and patients set up plays every New Year's Eve and may 17.(Norways independence day) And, after a rich shipowner and other rich people in Bergen gave the sanatorium a film apparatus in 1937, they had cinema once a week. The sanatorium is now shut down. In the fight against tuberculosis there was a breakthrough - it happened just after World War II. Then came e Our camp under pinon pine Our bed was all made in back our old pickup truck. We weighted down a blue tarp at the tailgate, so we would minimize the amount of sand we would take in when climbing in and out of the back of the truck. We cracked the the canopy side windows open to let a breeze and the scent of juniper and pinon pine, waft in through the screened side windows, and slept very well. The next morning, I climbed the sandstone slopes up behind our camp to take some photos of our camp from above, with dawn's first light arriving. After we completed our hike to the Rochester Creek rock art panel, we drove the Moore Cutoff road to I-70. It had been a long day and we hoped to get as close as we could to the “Head of Sinbad” pictograph panels, where we wanted to camp for the night in the back of our pickup truck. I had all kinds of maps and copies from various guide books, along with the pamphlet the folks at the Emery, Utah gas station had given me. Still I wanted to make sure we would head in the right direction so we wouldn’t waste valuable “road trip” find, by getting lost in the wide open desert country of the San Rafael Swell. We took exit 131 off I-70. I had traveled the Temple Mt. road to Goblin Valley in the past, and this looked like the “shortest” way into Locomotive Point and the Head of Sinbad panels. The BLM map on the information board on the south side of I-70 cinched it. It clearly showed the turns I needed to make and the BLM road numbers I would take to get to our destination. It was getting late in the day so we headed down the dirt road, making a right at the proper place and then we came to the “culvert” passage that would take us back under I-70, heading north. The dirt road was easy up to this point, but the “rock ramp” built up by off road enthusiasts to get through one of the two big culvert passages looked like it required due care and caution. Once under the interstate the sandy route to Locomotive Point was a pleasure to travel. We visited the two panel areas. I am going to give them some names so I can refer to them more easily in this narrative. The Head of Sinbad panels face south and are little more than a mile north of I-70. In fact, now that I know where they are, I will be able to easily pick the area out, when driving I-70 between Green River, Utah and Fremont Junction. The Head of Sinbad “west panel” was disappointing. The heads were missing for the entire row of pictographs. What I have read is that these 3,000 year old pictographs have not been vandalized, yet to me, it looked as though the missing upper portion of the pictographs - - didn’t look natural (if so, the heads should be laying on the ground, below where they fell - -they weren’t). Next we drove over to the Head of Sinbad “West panel”. This was what we had come to see and it was impressive. There are two sets of figures on at the West panel and they are not far apart. Though the day was almost gone, we spent time staring up at these intriguing pictographs and taking photographs. Next we drove west then north on a very sandy four wheel drive track until we found a side road leading up to a sandstone cliff sheltered camping spot, under a large pinon pine tree. Here we slept the night under a black desert sky filled with brilliant white stars. Wonderful! Early the next morning, while my wife organized our traveling gear I clambered up the steep sides of the surrounding sandstone to get some “dawn” photos of the area we had camped. After leaving camp we opted to skip visiting the nearby arch and get back to the West panel of the pictographs, to have the area to ourselves and get some photos with the early morning light. This we did. After retracing our route back to I-70 we headed east bound for the Black Dragon panel and for a hike up nearby Petroglyph Canyon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Road Trip - Utah April 17th - 24th, 2010: My wife and I headed for Southern Utah, just before midnight on Friday the 16th of April (after she got off work at her part time job). We drove straight through to Southern Utah, to take advantage of the good weather forecast early on in our trip. Shutter Stroll by Jim Mckinney Photo by Jim Mckinney Experimental light work during the Shutter Stroll. Taken during the October 2008 "Spooktacular Shutter Stroll" at Rye Preserve in Manatee County, Florida. During this FREE nature photography class, participants hiked through the Rye Woods to the Rye Family Cemetery. The purpose of this Shutter Stroll was to not only provide participants with the opportunity to shoot in a historical setting but also to work with different forms of lighting to create rather spooky effects. After discussing the etiquette of shooting in historically sensitive areas, we then covered tips for nightime and sunset photography. Participants entered the small pioneer cemetery to take photos and spent a great deal of time creating some truly interesting pieces. Different types of lighting were employed during the shoot and participants experimented with long exposure settings, filters, and lighting sources (including blacklights, glowsticks, and UV lights). Additional still life items, such as pumpkins, were also provided for program participants to practice with. The results of the shoot are presented in this gallery - all photographs are property of the original photographer and may not be used without permission. blindbiz 01 seven3x Orange County Shutters and Blinds Related topics: outside patio blinds patra drape neck gown with beaded illusion mesh discount balloon shades retractible awning 10x20 canopy cover primitive shutters luxaflex awnings andersen awning windows umbrella canopy awning cleaning service |

Reminiscence Wearable Art Baroque Satin (Purple) Crepon Sheer (White) Solid Organza (Brown) Dimension... I don't know... This piece basically proved to everyone, especially to myself, that I'm capable of designing, I'm capable of making something, and I'm capable of pushing myself to do what I need to do and what I want to do. I made the dress by myself, from scratch, and I worked on it with my sewing machine. While I was working on the project, I got to know my skills better, and I also got to know that I was able to teach myself how to sew. This dress might remind you of the Korean traditional dress (Hanbok), because I was inspired the dress and decided to make my own, modern version of the dress. It's my first sewing project so it might seem really messy and stuff (not that you can even see from this picture or the other picture), but the overall design and presentation I think is really good. I'm really proud of myself for keep challenging and pushing myself. At first, I was not going to use the sewing machine, and just drape it, but I decided to use the sewing machine. And then I guess I became more confident and pushed myself to do some crazy stuff, like pleating it to make the dress have more volume, changing the shapes around to make it fit my body more, and adding the invisible zipper in the back. It may not seem like it's a ton of work, but because it was my first piece of garment I have made, it took me about 50 hours or more. I would really appreciate your feedbacks, and compliments and all that good stuff. :) I would like some criticism as well. (This is just a side note: When I first wanted to become a fashion designer, there has been one person who's been telling me that I can do it, and I will be famous one day. That was my best friend since middle school, and I promised her that my first clothing/piece I make will be given to her as a gift, but unfortunately, this became the first project. So the headband I'm wearing in the picture is also made from the fabric I used in the dress, but it's Wearable Art 1.5, and I'm giving it to my best friend, because I couldn't keep my promise. I still feel bad, but I think it's still pretty meaningful.) (Another side note: I cried when I got home, after the critique and all because I was so relieved that I got a good feedback, and it hit me really late that I had finally finished and made my first piece, all by myself. I think I cried the most, because I proved to myself, that I did my best, and all the hard work actually paid off. So.. ready for Wearable art part 2? :D) (Oh shoot. I keep forgetting: this is another side note by the way. I really would like to thank Mr. English for having us do this wonderful assignment, Ms. Ortanez for giving me feedbacks and advices, Ms. Moon for advices, and just.. everyone who's been supporting me. I just finished reading this whole description and laughed at myself because seems like I did something important in my life like saving someone's life all by myself or something xP) (Another side note: so.. side note #4. The title.. sort of came to me when I was talking to my friend. He was telling me how I should title it after him, and then.. it's funny because I thought of a word right when he said his name. Starts with the same letter, so I guess you can say I named it after him =] ) barbietote05 Lining cutting time ! To determine how big a lining I needed, I basically just folded some fabric to about the purse's width and about an inch or so taller than the purse. Going just a bit beyond the original purse's size gave me enough for the seam allowance - I used a quarter-inch on just about everything - and allowed it to puddle a bit on the purse bottom. It doesn't much matter if the lining's a bit big. No one will be able to tell if it's too tall - it'll just drape down at the bottom. And if it's a bit too wide, you can always tuck in a small pleat. The foldover will cover it. Maybe not this guy--no plants and cloudy water--since Lori posted her matchstick blind shot, I am showing my support by posting this really iffy shot, LOL! Her shots were very nice, IMO! No comments necessary--just say "hi"! new curtains I had to use flash, so it's all washed out. I thought these curtains were so fun. I'm usually a matchstick blind or sheer shade kind of person. (332/365) September 21, 2010: My grill burns hotter now A few years ago my dad and I purchased this grill from Lowe's at a nice discount and converted it for the natural gas line that runs out to my deck. Unfortunately, we forgot to remove the orifices from the burners so for two years the flames were never that intense. I thought the week flames were a result of lower pressure from the gas line versus an LP tank. Thankfully, I was wrong and he removed the orifices this week producing a great deal of heat when this thing is lit. He also fixed the self-ignition switch. We cooked hot dogs in about 5 minutes, which used to take at least an hour (okay maybe not that long, but it was ridiculously longer than it should have taken). He's a handy guy to have around! shutter count "No1" Had to be done new d700 out the box switch on and press the button ....so it begins happy times now what to do with that instruction book think its going to be close for sometime what can be so different from my trusty d70 actually count 3 as it turns out... i want a discount! Canopy Upper Canopy of Mores Scenic Reserve, Riverton Invercargill, New Zealand. The lowland forest in this small reserve was grazed by cattle and pigs for decades, they ate all the undergrowth, and so in areas the trees have grown without branches, making for a surreal feeling. One of the most light forests I've ever been in. The reserves is now managed and kept predator free by volunteer locals. Well worth a visit. Seagull 4A shutter musing. There are notes on this image, please mouse over it to see them. Above, we have a partially stripped down Seagull shutter mechanism. Shown here with the timing ring/cam in place, but not secured. This is to illustrate the two locations that follow the two cam sections of the timing ring, when you move the shutter speed selection switch, you are in fact rotating the entire ring. IMHO the weak point in the speed selection (no doubt there are others) is the "selection finger" that follows the bottom cam section. When selecting the speed between 60 and 125 the "finger" is pulled outwards, away from the lens. This action causes resistance against the cam, more so than any where else, this in turn can bend the finger so it doesn't quite rest in the correct location. This isn't a problem at all shutter speeds but can result in two or more of the shutter speeds being incorrect. The selection "nipple" on the right hand side is rounded and follows the cam with less resistance so is less likely to be a problem, though in this shutter I found the screws that secure the whole thing to be loose, which is a problem. Time flies ~1/5 van een klok, geschoten op f1.4 en een ND filter. De sluitertijd mogen jullie zelf raden :) Wijzers van de klok zijn "bevroren" door 2x gebruik te maken van een flitser. WHAT SHADE OF RED SHOULD I DYE MY HAIR. DISCOUNT ROMAN SHADES What Shade Of Red Should I Dye My Hair
8:24 a.m, Sat, December 20, 2008 I woke up feeling the sun on my face.. What a great feeling.. (so a flickr moment was born & I grabbed my cell phone) I got to thinking about a conversation I had with a co-worker/friend.. He said that one of the things he heard over and over again while counseling hospice patients is...."I shouldn't have worried so much about money..& I should have spent more time with my loved ones".....it takes death to really grasp that concept... Life is short... I plan to enjoy my family and loved ones... I won't worry about the "small things"..... (traffic, weight gain, grouchy people and so on). I will not try to change things I have no control of...I will see the positive first.....People at work will always complain about one thing or another.... life goes on.. and we all move on.... that's why it's life. I plan on stopping, at least for a second....to feel that ray of sun on my face... Instead of saying..."damn it.. Why didn't I close my curtains" Side note, my hair has been turning a light shade of green.... don't know why..might have been because of a previous hair dye and new shampoo... Well after talking with friends who very gently suggested I should seek professional hair care help... I chose to ignore them and I went to the store and got some hair dye and said, "why not..." so, I dyed my hair... it was late.. I didn't worry much about it... in the morning I got ready got to work... I thought the green was gone... BUT NO... LOL... It was so bad a supervisor said..."just go, take care of THAT" ...... I guess what I put in my hair made it turn greener... LOL... anyway.. to make a long story short.. I went to some cheap place... they laughed..said, "well Red cancels Green. So you will have red in your hair and it's going to be dark"... at this point.. I didn't care... I went with it... now... I have dark hair... Vivi Meet Vivi again. ^_^ Like what I said in his previous photo, he is the twins' and Morgana's older brother. His real name is actually Viktor but when the twins were younger, they couldn't pronounce his name that's why they call him Vivi. The name already stuck with him that now, even Morgana calls him Vivi. He doesn't seem to mind though (or rather, he doesn't have any choice. XD). He is very close to his siblings specially to Aleksa who he calls his Little Princess. He is extremely pale because he is an albino. He dyed his hair to make him look a little normal. He also prefers to wear dark colored clothes because he thinks that he'll look even paler if he wears clothes with lighter shade. As for his love life, he's still single because he can't find the right girl for him yet. And of course Aleksa told him that the girl he choose should have her approval. Hehe. Oh, he loves red roses too. Those are his favorites. Hee~ --- It actually wasn't me who named him, Vivi. It was my friend's idea. She was the one who chose him and convinced me to buy him. She got his name from the manga that we're reading, Hana to Akuma, where the main character is called Vivi who is a demon. I wasn't planning to name him Vivi either but the name just stuck with him that I can no longer change his name. I'm still not sure who'll he end up with. I'm not sure who among the girls here will suit him well. She may be Summer or Juliane. But I'm not yet sure. Hehe. 30/52 A Doll a Week 2010.
