The Witchcraft Codex A Guide to Black Magic Practices, Spells, Curses and other information

This is for those, who are seriously interested in black magic.

People with prejudices and the mob should stay away from here:

they would only toddle in darkness and be highly indignant.

The described black magic rituals are not without danger and are consequently unsuitable for people who are not mentally in good constitution.

Take heed to follow all instructions the way they are described.

Without the necessary precautions every ritual will turn to your disadvantage, confusion and total destruction.

On the contrary, by following the instructions with precision, you will achieve a complete success in all your enterprises.

Finally I have to mention that here nothing is written for the skeptic people and it will not help them.
Black magic is deemed the selfish perversion of magical arts to destroy others, or for personal gain, but can be used for good intent.

The conscious use of black magic rituals is for the adept only.

A magician may summon the Devil or one of his demons and remain a white magician, so long as the purpose for the summoning is benevolent.

Black magicians are usually those who made a pact with the Devil.

They invoke diabolic and infernal powers by black magic rituals and spells.

Beware to use this wisely as it has been blessed by a practitioner and is deemed for the use of good intent only.

Another possible location. It faces west so it's an ok spot for a sunset. Would prefer a spot without all the trees, but I'll have to keep looking. I almost took my bumper clean off getting back onto the street from this spot. Was rocking back and forth on 2 wheels as I crept over the hideous driveway & gutter.

Black Magic

SHE HATES USING MAGIC . . .
Ever since the death of her parents, Sara Temple has rejected her magical gifts. Then, in a moment of extreme danger, she unknowingly sends out a telepathic cry for help—to the one man she is convinced she never wants to see again.
HE’S A POWERFUL WIZARD . . .
Jackson Slater thought he was done forever with his ex-fiancee, but when he hears her desperate plea, he teleports halfway around the world to aid her in a situation where magic has gone suddenly, brutally wrong.
THEY’VE BEEN CHOSEN TO SAVE THE WORLD . . .
But while Sara and Jack remain convinced they are completely mismatched, the Wizard Council feels otherwise. A dark force is killing some of the world’s most influential wizards, and the ex-lovers have just proved their abilities are mysteriously amplified when they work together. But with the fate of the world at stake, will the violent emotions still simmering between them drive them farther apart . . . or bring them back into each other’s arms?

Bang & Olufsen Beolit 707 - the queen of all transistor radios!
It is a great moment when you find one of these at a sale and only pay a couple of quid/dollars for it. If you get it home and it doesn't work, who cares? If it does as this one did, its a real bonus.
This was produced from about 1977. The design is exquisite. The dial uses small metal balls which travel across the dial magnetically.
It has an ABS case which was in terrible condition. It was sticky and discolored. The only way I could get it clean was to use a course scouring pad and washing-up liquid.
The sound is what you'd expect from a B&O - sweet and deep!

ON EXPLORE INTERESTINGNESS

Dedicated to my BEST FRIEND ..Sanshiro

sorry that I cannot respond well to Flickr friends for some times... I may take some times to be the same.. until then ... see you again.

This photo is not good one as I cannot clean the background but that morning he followed me and prepared to send me at front gate but I walked around to take photo. He walked together.. He just copied what I do... I took photo of some plants and I saw him viewing plant too...

Just lovely curiosity... He made me smile and I took this shot.. Never think it is the last shot when he was well before getting sick at night and 5 days later he was gone...

This is his last shot
He just passed away tonight 7 pm. 6 Aug 2007. He just nearly reached one year old ..but he couldnot reach his one year..

I know he is so happy home... and he get worse being left at clinic. He was against the clinic.. As I left clinic, he was fighting when injection. Three people caught him this morning for blood test.. In evening, before bring home, he was fighting wild and suddenly gone durig fighting .. just few minutes before I go to take him home.

Last night , I think I could make him so happy for the last itme.. He looked so happy home.. he laid down comfortably.. really sleep while at clinic he rarely move but his eyes never close down. He really feel home. I open music from same CD I open everyday for months.. He used to listen to those songs .. I caressed his head and he sighed relaxingly.. He slept and woke up again at song end. I have to replay it again and again whole night.

He walked sometimes.. in order to move nearer to me ..just put his nail to touch the pillow he used to sleep on..I took my blanket sleeping in sofa not far from him.. I woke up several times in the middle of the night and see whether he was well..and called his name to let him know I was there together.

In the morning I used tissue paper with fragrance and disinfected water to clean him. He looked so happy indeed and I was happy to do so.. He teaches me love.

This was so highly contrast before and after getting into clinic.. He really wanted to stay home. Second day of sickness when I left him, he complained by giving some crying and next day he didn't cry to me but fight with those people in clinic. .. He may think that's the place I departed him..

One night clinic was closed earlier I couldnot take him home. He stayed there long and next day I visited him at clinic .. his body was shaking all the times and looked nearly dead, I couldn't hold my tears.. but when I caressed his head he was calm down. I had to leave him till evening for another injection, he tried to stand and look at me walking away.. He could not say but he did it from his heart.. It was hard for me to decide whether let him die home or be cared at clinic.

He used to be left homeless at very young age when I found him at the beach.. and this is so sensitive for him.. not seeing me.. I even think I will leave my clothes in his cage in clinic to make him think I am with him.

Mental support is very essential for him as much the the love he has for me..
I have no doubt on his unconditional love for me.. I see love from his eyes, his loyalty, his dedication strongly shining through.. He may be born for me.. I think.. He picked me up as owner runing directly to me at the beach and its like our destiny.

When praying, I even think if to ask for his longer life will shorten my life then I still want to share it with him...

He was everywhere in my house.. sleeping on printer or my lap, my bed, ..He is not my first pet.. I have pets all the times since I can remember but he is the only one who is most intimated as if he were a part of my life..There is, now, empty corner in my mind and its his place.

I know, as a Buddhist, .. nothing remains eternity.. All are just uncertainty..
Love.. departed and suffered...

But I am happy to be sad for a while to think of him...
After that he will stay with me, whenever I want to see him, talk to him, he will always be there.. in my mind... And I'm glad I took so many shots of him.. Those shot are my precious jewels

A little cremation.. tomorrow I wish to keep his ash to plant flower

Wish him to forgive me for my mistake..That I didn't do my best in taking care of him.. so that he lived short with me.. He is the first and only one pet that I love so so much and I feel hard day living without him..

Too much memories with him.. .. too much than I can say it.. Its overwhlemed, impressed hardly on my heart.. Food seems not so tasteful. .House is full of sadness and emptiness..quiet and not so lively..

I may get this opportunity to be slimmer : )

Close up of tape drive read-write heads

Close up of tape drive read-write heads

A 3420 model tape drive opened up, ready to clean the read-write heads, and the curved tape guides. Xylene was the cleaning fluid, applied with a filter tip for the delicate parts, and a brush-cloth for the smooth areas. During operation, magetic iron oxide dust would build up in the mechanism, so regular cleaning (once per shift) was scheduled. The outside of the Z shape marks the top of the left and right vacuum guides, where the vacuum would draw the tape down as the spools revved at a varying high speed. Using air pressure and a little hole, the vacuum guides automatically adjusted the speed of the tape to keep it constant as it whizzed past the read-write heads.

Amalfi Panorama2

Amalfi Panorama2

***note: This panorama was shot from out on the pier and is nearly a 180 degree view of the city of Amalfi. It was shot handheld (I didn't have my tripod with me), processed in Lightroom, and stitched in CS3.

Day 3
The plan for this day is a bit more laid-back. We’re grabbing a complimentary breakfast on the roof of the Marriott Grand Flora, renting a car from Avis, and driving down to Amalfi where we plan to stay for the next 3-4 days. Breakfast was a huge buffet with just about anything you could want, and it was eaten on the rooftop patio which overlooked much of Rome. To the left you can see the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica standing out clearly against the sky, while the majority of the view is of the Borghese gardens, which includes the Galleria Borghese and the Villa Medici among other things. After breakfast we went to get our rental from Avis. The reservation was set up with the Avis office at the Leonardo da Vinci airport, which would require a metro ride to the Stazione Termini, followed by a 45 minute train ride to the airport, followed by negotiating through the airport crowds to the counter, getting the car, and driving back to the hotel to finish checking out. As I walked out the front of the hotel I noticed an Avis sign and asked the bellman about it. Lo and behold there was an Avis office two blocks from the hotel! I walked down there and there were incredibly helpful, switching my reservation and hooking us up with the weekly special which included full insurance coverage (something I normally don’t bother with but will come in to play later in our trip) a newer model and unlimited mileage for less than the original reservation. As a spur of the moment decision I also added a Tom-Tom, which was the smartest thing I did the entire trip. It was worth every penny of the cost as it likely saved our marriage. Without it we’d have been lost many times and probably would’ve ended up in multiple arguments. Anyway, the vehicle they gave us was a blue 4 door Opel with a manual transmission and a 1 liter, 4 cylinder engine. That’s right, 1 liter. We left the hotel and began following the Tom-Tom’s directions to Amalfi, when I noticed something. Street signs and traffic lights were in very different locations, so much so that I ran the first traffic light I came to and nearly clipped an elderly woman about to cross the road. Needless to say she let me know I was an idiot in a very colorful way. We made our way south down to Salerno and began the drive up the coast. This was fun and nerve wracking at the same time as the road was very narrow, very windy, cut into the side of the mountains, and had many blind corners. Oh, and they were filled with scooters weaving in and out between the cars and giant tourist buses bullying their way around the hairpin turns. As we finally pulled into Amalfi Jen pulled out the reservation information. It said there was no parking at the hotel and that we should call them to find out where to park and so that they could send down the luggage service which would transport our bags to the hotel. Yeah, we didn’t have a cell phone that worked in Italy and pay phones didn’t seem to be readily available either, so we asked a traffic cop what to do. He helped us out and soon enough we parked the car in a parking garage, left our bags for the luggage service, and headed to the hotel (Residenza del Duca) which was located on the 7th floor of a historical building just off the main piazza of the village. There wasn’t an elevator, and I wouldn’t suggest this hotel to those that aren’t in some modest bit of shape. There were two days in Amalfi where we went up and down those steps enough to justify a second dessert after dinner. By the time we got settled, showered and changed into clean clothes it was time for dinner. Amalfi is a small town, and the main piazza is where everyone congregates in the evening. There are many cafes, pottery stores, and gelato shops, and the local liquor Limoncello is served and sold everywhere. It is manufactured up and down the Amalfi coast and comes in two forms, both made primarily from the local lemon crop: a clear lemon liquor, and a cream lemon liquor, both of which are quite good. Each town on the Amalfi coast claims to be the original Limoncello makers, and even the Isle of Capri lays a claim to it also. I’m not quite sure where it actually originates. As we ate at a sidewalk cafe and enjoyed people watching, a group of musicians came around and played several of their songs. I’m a bit of a sucker for this kind of thing, so I bought one of their CD’s. They call themselves Gypsy Orient and have 4 member: a singer (with a tambourine of course), a guy with an accordion, a guy with an acoustic guitar that had duct tape holding it together, and a bassist who played a standup bass with only 3 strings. Did I mention how much of a sucker I am? Anyway, we spent the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying the peo

146/365 - ZERO CAVITIES

146/365 - ZERO CAVITIES

Day 146 of the 365 Journey.
I really hate going to the dentist! I was on vacation last week and I moved my dentist appointment because I didn’t want to have to go to a place that I hate while I was on my relaxing vacation! I mean seriously….really?! So I went in today for my normal teeth cleaning. That fricken little scraper tool from hell should be outlawed! I swear it’s like spending a half hour in a chair with someone scratching their nails down a chalk board! Well they might as well be anyways. It’s all I could do to sit there with clenched fists, trying to relax as the scrapping continued. “OMG, she’s only on the second tooth!” The faces I must have been making were a great photo opportunity in themselves. If it hadn’t been for the one sided conversation coming from the lady with her hands submerged between my lips, I probably would have crawled out of my skin. I was already as squeamish as a little six year old, so I didn’t want to appear to be a bigger baby then I already was…hahaha. The process seemed a lot easier than it ever did before. They told me to continue flossing and to come back in six months! I think that was probably the first time I didn’t receive a lecture for inadequate dental hygiene. I guess after 35 years of brushing I’m finally getting it right! YEA BABY…thank god for small accomplishments!

I started using an electric toothbrush a few years ago. It SERIOUSLY helps a lot! Don’t forget to floss!

Window Kit Cutting Tool

Modding has its hazards - but a nasty cut from a power tool can now be completely avoided thanks to the Talismoon Window Kit Cutting Tool. This product is a great alternative that doesn't need any power, and the fact that it is a hand tool makes it easier to follow straight lines than an overpowered rotary tool. Also conveniently avoids any worries of slipping and taking an accidental 'bite' out your Xbox's finish. Easy enough for any age to use, and very difficult to hurt yourself during use. This tool was built to custom specifications for its specific use with the xbox 360. Other tools of this type will not have the necessary clearance to work on the thicker plastic of the Xbox 360. In addition to being useful for cutting windows, it can also be used to cut fan holes and other types of egress. Compatible with all consoles on the market today, it is the perfect tool for Xbox 360 tuning! Best tool to install Talismoon X-Ray kit!

And by it... I mean me. I'll come out in your wash. Scary!

Yes, I sat in the washing machine. It looked like fun. I might try this again someday and actually get IN the machine- but I attempted that briefly and discovered that my legs are WAY too long to fit comfortably.

I am wearing whatever clothes I found at the foot of the bed when I got home from work and started laundry. I know, very glamorous. Be jealous.

I actually LOVE doing laundry.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams: Why Public Efforts to Boost Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Have Failed--and What to Do About It (The Kauffman Foundation Series on Innovation and Entrepreneurship)

Silicon Valley, Singapore, Tel Aviv--the global hubs of entrepreneurial activity--all bear the marks of government investment. Yet, for every public intervention that spurs entrepreneurial activity, there are many failed efforts that waste untold billions in taxpayer dollars. When has governmental sponsorship succeeded in boosting growth, and when has it fallen terribly short? Should the government be involved in such undertakings at all? Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the first extensive look at the ways governments have supported entrepreneurs and venture capitalists across decades and continents. Josh Lerner, one of the foremost experts in the field, provides valuable insights into why some public initiatives work while others are hobbled by pitfalls, and he offers suggestions for how public ventures should be implemented in the future.
Discussing the complex history of Silicon Valley and other pioneering centers of venture capital, Lerner uncovers the extent of government influence in prompting growth. He examines the public strategies used to advance new ventures, points to the challenges of these endeavors, and reveals the common flaws undermining far too many programs--poor design, a lack of understanding for the entrepreneurial process, and implementation problems. Lerner explains why governments cannot dictate how venture markets evolve, and why they must balance their positions as catalysts with an awareness of their limited ability to stimulate the entrepreneurial sector.
As governments worldwide seek to spur economic growth in ever more aggressive ways, Boulevard of Broken Dreams offers an important caution. The book argues for a careful approach to government support of entrepreneurial activities, so that the mistakes of earlier efforts are not repeated.

Sweep Panorama. I included this one because, although unsuccessful as a panorama, it did show very well the process the software uses to stitch the image. I panned this one in portrait orientation from my right to the left (which was set as from the 'top' to the 'bottom' for the camera, which assumes you are holding it in landscape orientation). You can see that the camera actually takes thin strips at regular intervals, and stitches these together on the fly. Strong perspective and abstract detail like this seem to defeat it, but on the whole, the process is remarkably seamless.

NOBEL PRIZE WINNER

NOBEL PRIZE WINNER

As 2007 closes and 2008 begins, one of the great questions that hangs in the cynical European air is how America will carry itself in the world next year. From the outside, the coming election seems less about "the economy, stupid" and more about America's role in the future of the planet. I think it's even deeper than that. I think this election is about how America sees itself. That's not really an existential question, or a spiritual one; mostly, it's a practical question. In this election year, Americans are looking for leadership that can turn spiritual yearnings into practical realities. Al Gore is the kind of leader these times require. Not as President — God and the Electoral College have given him a different job. As it happens, Al is at work repositioning his country from the inside out as a leader in clean energy; and along the way restoring faith in the U.S. as a moral powerhouse that can lead a great, global spiritual revival as the temperature rises.

That's right, a spiritual revival. Because this apostle of all things digital is the first to admit that technology alone will not reverse the damage done. He says it's going to take "a shift in consciousness." This isn't loopy Sixties stuff, or I wouldn't tune in. Al is tough-minded. He marshals history to make his argument, and countless examples of civilizations changing course and attitudes midstream roll off his tongue.

For Al, 2008 is a rendezvous with destiny and an appointment with the enemy. The foe he sees is our own indifference to the future and a lack of faith in our ability to do anything about it. He stresses that through crisis we can find opportunity. His language is pretty Biblical, but, then, doesn't the Bible say something about floods? He is like an Old Testament prophet amped up with PowerPoint and an army of the world's scientists at his disposal. The right response to the global-warming crisis, he explains, will be a mosaic of solutions that will kick off a whole new economic boom, one that is low-carbon and high-productivity, with truly sustainable development, and an atlas for planet management — using not New Age technology but old age wisdom generating sustainable solutions.

Is he Noah or are we King Canute? Are we prepared to make difficult choices on behalf of children not yet born? We cannot let the children of the developing world become canaries in the coal mine. If the tide should rise by 3 ft. (1 m), there could be over 100 million climate refugees in low-lying areas such as Bangladesh. If the tide rises 20 ft. (6 m), it's not just the summer homes of rock stars that will take sail; 400 million poor people could be uprooted and at sea. And one man's flood is another's drought: as coastal areas in Africa are drowned, travel inland and anything that isn't underwater will be even more parched than before. Think Sudan. People forget that extreme poverty as a result of desertification explains much of that country's travails.

Over the past year, "mild green" (me) and "khaki green" (him) have talked about how the fight against extreme poverty in the developing world and the struggle against climate change can reinforce each other. The poorest will be hit first and hardest by climate change. We can help them adapt, but they can help us, too. Vulnerable as the poor are, they can be powerful allies in stopping the cycle of environmental damage and extreme poverty. With the poor as partners we can slow overpopulation — as we must, because more population means more pollution. And we can help developing countries rev up their economies in a cleaner way than we did during the Industrial Revolution. The choices of the poor affect us, just as ours affect them; we are all part of one world, one moral universe, sharing one oxygen tank.

Desmond Tutu often uses the word ubuntu, meaning "I am because we are." It's my favorite epithet, an ode to interdependence. When I told Al that, he responded with Gandhi: Satyagraha, meaning "hold tight to the truth."

Personally, I'm trying to live up to both words, but it's hard. Like a lot of folks, I've got a lot on my plate without trying to make sure the dishwasher liquid is in a biodegradable container. (It is, but were it not for the eco-warrior with whom I share a bed, I would have fallen behind.) As Al leaves our house, I fall over myself to explain that my fancy car runs on ethanol, then laugh nervously, like when you meet a parish priest in the supermarket and it turns into confession.

Al isn't like that at all. He leads from the front, and if some sheep in the family stray, he's not stressed. He's not a zealot. Leaders often shout orders; generals bark; bellicose preachers, to save our souls, get gothic on our asses. But Al speaks in measured tones. He shows slides. He has an almost embarrassing faith in the power of facts to persuade both believer and skeptic. His enduring and overarching trait is, as it turns

The Long Road To Woodstock---At The Seattle Olympic Hotel, The Maids On Strike

The Long Road To Woodstock---At The Seattle Olympic Hotel, The Maids On Strike

Sometime in July, 1969, the Shriner's were scheduled to hold their national convention in Seattle. About three weeks or so before the convention was to begin, we heard (I may be imagining this part) a rumor that the maids were going to go out on strike. Anyway, two weeks before the convention was to begin, the maids did go on strike. Their union leaders had carefully timed the strike---the National Shrine convention is one of the biggest in the country, and Olympic Hotel was the headquarters for the convention.
If I remember correctly, the maids were making $1.80 per hour, and they were striking for $2.00 per hour. Almost certainly, that was more money than I was making as a dishwasher (if I still was a dishwasher---i might have been bumped back down to busboy). I doubt I had much sympathy for the maids. I had never really given any thought to what they did, or the conditions under which they did it. I don't remember ever talking to any of them. Were they black, or Hispanic (maid staffs in many hotels are made up of one ethnic grouping or another---in Florida, at a hotel where I worked, the maids were primarily from Hungary, because some temp agency had a pipeline there.) Maids often work under a fair amount of pressure---when the hotel is full, the number of rooms they have to clean goes up, and on heavy check-out days, their workload can increase dramatically, depending on how piggish a given set of guests might be. In Des Moines, at another hotel where I worked, a guest committed suicide in one of the rooms, in a particularly messy fashion. All the maids on that floor were from Central America (maybe only two or three people). They all quit, overnight. They said the floor was haunted. Being a maid and picking up after people, especially in a hotel with very high standards, can be stressful.
Anyway, I had little sympathy for the maids, or at least not enough. I had no intention of not working. However, having recently discovered my liberal credentials (I'm about to be unmasked in all my hypocritical glory), I had no wish to physically cross a picket line. I would imagine that a part of that was literal cowardice, or at least an unwillingness to expose myself to ridicule.
I needed the job, needed the money (otherwise I would have to return home)---what to do. There was a parking garage attached to the hotel where the guests parked. I could enter the parking garage, go up to the second level, and go in to the hotel at the entrance where the guests entered. Then I made my way down to the time clock and punched in---problem solved.

Day 2 - 11th January

Day 2 - 11th January

More bits to get shot of. The car rear lights have been hanging around for at least 3 years - and they're not even mine! Amazing how much out of date foodstuffs we had too. Plus smellies that had lost their smell, dried up baby wipes and a locked metal cash box with no key that worked! At least none of these things will be cluttering the house up for much longer.

Not too difficult today as I had already earmarked most of these for going.

Various out of date sauces, pickles etc. Heaven knows why I keep them, think they might get eaten up one day! These will go to the recycling facility – RF - (otherwise known as tip) although they won’t actually get recycled.

A metal cash box, that is locked shut and has no key. No point in keeping this – I have no use for it and without a key it is useless. This will go in the metal recycling bin at the RF.

Two well worn cutting mats. I am a crafter and get through these regularly. These two have lots of stains and cuts on them, and weren’t left flat, so have ridges and bumps that won’t lie flat. As I have about another 6 new ones I thought it was time I let them go. Can’t think what to do with them so they will have to go to the tip.

A chrome cutlery holder. This has been in my craft room holding pens, scissors etc. but since I’ve been tidying it up I’ve found another receptacle for them so this is now spare. This will go to the Oxfam shop next week.

Two rear lights from my daughter’s car. She’s had her car for 5 years, and about 3 years ago replaced these lights because one was broken. Have no idea why they were left in my spare room all this time – possibly in case they came in handy!!! So these will be going to the tip next week.

An Avon alphabet puzzle for young children. I think I rescued this from a boot fair/jumble sale, with the intention of altering them for my crafts. However, as I’ve got a cupboard full of stuff to alter one day in the future, I thought it was time to be realistic and admit that I’ll never get around to doing it! So this will go to Oxfam next week.

One box of lens cleaners for spectacles. I bought these in a cheap shop. There were 30 in the box, I’ve used about 3. They don’t clean my lenses, they make them even more blurry, so I’ve decided to stick with the hot water and washing up liquid in future. These will either go to the Oxfam shop or to the boot fair at the local school in 3 weeks’ time.

Two tubes of moisturizing cream. I’ve had these for a couple of years, and as I very rarely use moisturizer, they have both lost their smell and probably their moisturizing qualities. Also the larger tube has a bit split right at the top, so every time I tried to squeeze some out of the nozzle it rose up to the top of the tube and spilled everywhere! Time to go! These will go to the tip.

A drawer sachet and cushion, both of which have lost their smell so are of no use at all in my undies drawer. The cushion is pretty, so I will give that to the boot fair. The sachet will go in the recycling bag once I’ve emptied the crystals inside onto the garden.

A box of baby wet wipes that have dried up. I use these in my crafts, for cleaning rubber stamps, but because I’ve not done any stamping for ages they’ve all dried up. I think I could probably use them as dryer sheets if I used my dryer, but we tend to dry the washing in a spare room that is heated and has the sun (when it’s out!). So they will go to the boot fair. My daughter is expecting a baby in March and today we bought some refill baby wipes, so I will use the outer box to put the refills in.

And that’s today’s chuck outs. To replace them, today I bought my daughter a pram, a changing mat, about 4 different packs of nappies and some more baby wipes, so it more or less wipes out today’s decluttering, but at least they won’t stay in my house permanently. Once the baby comes everything will be transported to hers!

Don't butter up your kenner pt I

Don't butter up your kenner pt I

April wore her red boots for too many years and now her legsies are a fetching shade of red. Clearasil then Dylon Dye Remover made a fair difference. But they only penetrated so far into the vinyl on April's legs - not deep enough to reach all the staining. They did perfume her legs up nicely.

Next on the list of tactics was butter. Smear lovely butter over the stains and leave in the sun. The theory, I think, is that over days-weeks-whatever it draws out the stains or facilitates fading somehow. Seems fair enough...

...More than anything I worried that poor April would stink of rancid butter after a few days. So I checked how she was going after a day and a half. Nice, no rancid or stale butter smell...but...um, wait...smelling rubber, ack!

Open up my sophisticated ziplock-baggy arrangement for a closer look/smell. Contents as follows:

1. butter not in contact with April - as expected on a chilly morning.
2. butter in contact with April - soft/curdled with rubber smell.
3. liquid residue on April's legs - stinky rubber/latex-ie smell.

Project Butterlegs immediately cancelled and a thorough clean undertaken.

Which brings me to "Don't butter up your kenner pt II" (next pic).

I'll blog specific details later tonight.

Sofie's hot on the trail of a missing pet ferret--wait, aren't those illegal in New York City?--and a missing dry cleaner. According to his furious wife, Aglaia, Uncle Tolly was acting odd right before he disappeared. The proof? The brand-new Mercedes Tolly just bought. And the business's books, which show that Uncle Tolly was laundering more than just clothes.
Which is where the mob comes in, in the darkly handsome figure of Tony DiPiazza. Tony's very taken with Sofie. Too bad she won't back off the money-laundering and kidnapping (or is it murder?) investigation.
Really too bad, since hunky Australian bounty hunter/man of mystery Jake Porter is hanging around again, tinkering under the hood of Sofie's car and kissing Sofie like he really means it, only she's too busy to notice.
Too busy: being attacked by a malevolent dry-cleaning bag; bailing Aglaia out of jail; airing out her apartment after an assault by noxious dog-farts; and spying on her own father. Because Sofie's mother thinks that after nearly thirty years of marriage, her husband is having an affair. Can't anyone stay faithful for five minutes?
Sofie's quest for the truth gets her into hot water--and a pair of cement overshoes. It's not her best look.

Dehumidifying My Laundry

Dehumidifying My Laundry

With the weather being bad most of the time, I can't dry my laundry outside any more. I had to come up with another solution. A laundry dryer was my first thought, but there are three major problems with those machines: the high price, the fact that it can ruin your clothes, and the fact that I have absolutely nowhere to put it. I therefore decided that, from now on, I shall dehumidify my laundry. I bought a dehumidifier with the "Drying Laundry" option and it works great! I hang all my laundry in the hall, place my dehumidifier under the laundry and direct the air-blower into the laundry. The entire load of laundry, taken straight from the washing machine, is dry in about an hour, but if I only hang up a T-shirt of some small item like that, it's dry in about ten minutes.

There's another positive side to the dehumidifier, too. It blows out warm air while in the "Laundry Drying" mode, so my entire appartment gets so warm that I can run around in nothng but T-shirts and shorts! Not only do I dry my laundry, I also save up on the heating :-) The dehumidifier simultaneously swallows up all the damp from the entire apartment, as well, so there's no mold or any other yucky thing like that on my walls or in the closets.

WGA members congregating in the shadow of the Milt & Edie's Dry Cleaner's sign in Burbank.

These pictures were taken at the WGA's "Fremantle" Rally in Burbank. Staged outside the headquarters of Fremantle North America, writers rallied to protest Fremantle's continued refusal to unionize their hugely successful slate of shows (AMERICAN IDOL, THE PRICE IS RIGHT, AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, just to name a few) thus denying their writers such basic industry benefits as health insurance, overtime pay, residuals and even proper credits. Shame on you, Fremantle!

This view is from an Amtrak locomotive and it was taken between the twin steam generators looking out the rear door toward the first passenger car. The employee on the passenger car vestibule platform is the car cleaner doing his job of cleaning the car for its next train assignment. The train was located in the SCL railroad yard (former ACL yard) in Saint Petersburg, Florida, during 1974.

"Real" Car Engine

A look under the bonnet of 1901-built De Dion Bouton car (registered BR 20) at Beamish Museum shows what car engines looked like "in the beginning". Lift the bonnet of your own car and compare engines - assuming that you can actually see your engine for all of the "bits" on top of it! The De Dion, on the other han, is amazingly simple to maintain.
