Making Documentary Films and Reality Videos: A Practical Guide to Planning, Filming, and Editing Documentaries of Real Events

Making Documentary Films and Reality Videos: A Practical Guide to Planning, Filming, and Editing Documentaries of Real Events

Making Documentary Films and Reality Videos is the perfect text for students of filmmaking who would like to make a documentary. Barry Hampe, who has made more than 150 documentary films and videos, traces the two main approaches to documentary--recording behavior and re-creating past events—and shows students how to do both effectively. Covering all the steps, from conceptualization to completion, the book includes chapters on visual evidence; documentary ethics; why reality is not enough; budgeting; and casting, crew, and equipment selection.

Camera Club Trophies

Camera Club Trophies

Three years ago I dragged my EOS 600 film camera out of the cupboard, and took it on holiday along with the Canon S45 digital that I’d been using previously. It was a revelation. Suddenly I had control back of what I was photographing, and could see what I was doing. I enjoyed the experience very much, but even the little 4MB S45 was capable of cleaner nicer images than my film camera, so I bought a 30D ...and started taking awful images.

There was definitely a learning curve, so I joined the local Camera Club, became obsessed with sites like DPReview, and generally started to relearn photography with a passion. I was not a beginner, and many years ago I did several years formal training (part time), and was later part of a team that made two award winning dramatic film productions (the second as assistant director). I was also OK with PhotoShop.

Now three years later, I work as a Community Photographer with the same access as the local PJs; I am the vice president of the local Camera Club, and took four trophies home from the Club’s Christmas dinner this year.

From top left:
B Grade Print Trophy – Accumulated points throughout the year in normal print competitions. You have to get three Honours to go from B to A grade. I managed that early in the year, but remained B grade until the end of the competition year. None of the other competitions are grade dependant.

Enlargement Trophy – Accumulated points in Enlargement competitions.

Colour Print of the Year – Best print throughout the year, won for ‘Ploughing the Hard Way’

Brian Thwaites Memorial Trophy – Best natural history print of the year, won for ‘Laughing Kookaburra’. I am not really a natural history photographer, and there are some blown pixels on the top of the birds head, but it was pin sharp printed at A3, and I guess I was lucky on the day.

BTW Those cups and trophies were a total bugger to photograph!!!

Film Directing Shot by Shot: Visualizing from Concept to Screen (Michael Wiese Productions)

A complete catalogue of motion picture techniques for filmmakers. It concentrates on the 'storytelling' school of filmmaking, utilizing the work of the great stylists who established the versatile vocabulary of technique that has dominated the movies
since 1915. This graphic approach includes comparisons of style by interpreting a 'model script', created for the book, in storyboard form.

Film Directing Shot by Shot offers a good introduction to the rudiments of film production. Steven D. Katz walks his readers through the various stages of moviemaking, advising them at every turn to visualize the films they wish to produce. Katz believes that one of the chief tasks of filmmaking is to negotiate between our three-dimensional reality and the two-dimensionality of the screen. He covers the number of technical options filmmakers can use to create a satisfying flow of shots, a continuity that will make sense to viewers and aptly tell the film's story. Katz provides in-depth coverage of production design, storyboarding, spatial connections, editing, scene staging, depth of frame, camera angles, point of view, and the various types of stable compositions and moving camera shots.

Califone Switchable Stereo and Mono Wired Headphones (3068AV)

The 3068 delivers performance at an economical price for 1:1 instruction in listening centers and library uses. One advantage of the 3068 is its ability to switch between typical monaural functions such as in English Language Learning / English Language Development, language labs, speech pathology applications and the stereo mode for use in computer workstations and music appreciation classes. Califone designed this headphone with the stereo/mono user switch for optimal sound quality. The use of an internal processor (seen on a competitive product) to attempt this function has been shown to create quality issues which can include but are not limited to: decreased frequency response, increased distortion and diminished volume levels for students.

Arizona Flood Jan 2010

Arizona Flood Jan 2010

I got up early this morning before dawn to see how much water we had in our local park from the flooding last night here in Mesa AZ and found it under water.

They had drained it yesterday afternoon and it was full again. I mounted my trusty 5D Mark II and 24-70 F/2.8L lens on the tripod and took this quick shot. No Photoshop here this is right out of the camera except I changed the color in Canon digital photo professional using the eye dropper function, thought it looked better.

Hope you guys didn't get washed out I heard it was the worst storm in 17 years in Arizona. Lord knows we need the rain but wish he would spread it out a little bit.

I will be keeping and continuing to use the point n' shoot, of course; it will continue to live in my purse and be my camera of opportunity, but for the most part, start looking for the camera info off to the side to change soon.

Thanks, Mom & Dad. I love you.

4/52 Street

4/52 Street

I think this is my weakest shot so far for my 52.. simply because of the quality of the image My 30D at ISO 3200 in the dark just doesn't cut it, I'm so glad I didn't use the 450D for this shot though.. eesh it would look a total state!

This is Crane Street, Chichester. Possibly my favourite street in town because it's usually pretty quiet in the daytime, and it's slowly become the place for charity shops to live, I think there's now around 6 shops in a seriously small street! so far I've managed to pick up some amazing vintage garments that would otherwise prove quite expensive!

We drove around for nearly an hour looking for a good street with relatively decent lighting. Crane Street was the first stop but we drove around for a bit more before returning to take this shot! I had the help of my better half with this one, firstly because it was a Tuesday night, which is student night at the local club so there was bound to be some scary faces lurking about, and secondly, so he could press the shutter to make things a whole lot easier for me. I set the exposure, composition, focus etceteraaa and then ran over to my focus point whilst he pressed the button :D it was very much appreciated as doing this shot on my own in the middle of town in the freezing cold after midnight on student night would have been a stupid idea! (plus I don't have a wireless remote for the 30D!)

If I was any braver then I would've gone out in the daytime for this shot and been able to use a sensible ISO that the camera could handle, but I wasn't feeling very brave, so this shot it is!

Kim and I went down to Bournmouth to buy me my birthday present a very cute little Tortoise called George II. Unfortunately SATNAV decided to take us on a long route back to the shop and across a ferry. This meant that we were 10 minutes late the shop was closed. Very upset, we started our route home. I had had a nice day at Corfe castle and got a few shots but was still upset about not getting George. As we were heading home Kim suggested i take my camera and we stop off at a beach in Chichester to capture the sunset. We found a place and i started taking shots. It wasn't until we walked quite a way along the beach that we found this little bay with a moured ship. I took lots of shots as the sun began to set.

This was my favourite angle. i combined 6 different images to get the full tonal range. Originally i had it in colour but it was suggested by scott wright photo that i converted it to mono. I am very happy with the final image and think it works much better in Blackand white

WOW! What can I say... I'm now the proud owner of a Nikon D7000! I've not had much time to test it yet but I already love it. My D90 has back-focusing problems so this was a bit of an emergency buy.

I had a 50mm f1.8 lens which I barely used since I got the 35mm f1.8 however after selling the 50mm to a friend I realised how much I missed it so I picked up a new one.

So here's a lesson learned. Don't set your camera next to a burning candle and walk away. I came back to discover that the candle wax was dropping on the stick and splattering my camera lens. Also, I had my brand new laptop I just purchased today nearby. It got hit with a few drops too, but nothing as bad as my lens.

Spare Parts: From Campus to Combat: A Marine Reservist's Journey from Campus to Combat in 38 Days

Spare Parts: From Campus to Combat: A Marine Reservist's Journey from Campus to Combat in 38 Days

A powerful and harrowing look into the world of reservists—more than just the “spare parts” of our nation’s military—as seen through one man’s transformation from weekend warrior to combat Marine.
In 1990 Buzz Williams walked into a Marine recruiting office to follow in the footsteps of the deceased older brother he grew up idolizing, and signed up to join the reserves. Buzz had thought that he would only need to sacrifice one weekend a month and two weeks a year for training to earn the money that would help pay for his college tuition. He had no idea that even the newest reservists could find themselves on the battlefield in a matter of weeks.
Spare Parts recounts Williams’s harrowing deployment to the Persian Gulf after only four weeks of combat training. Enduring both the condescension of full-time Marines and the danger of his limited preparation, he manages to form a core group that struggles to gain respect from a military machine that views them as mere “spare parts.” In gripping, you-are-there detail, Spare Parts articulates the grueling physical and emotional trials that Williams and his comrades must face on the killing fields of Kuwait—where some of the woefully underprepared men are able to rise to the challenge and others are broken by the horrors of battle.
A compelling portrait of the more than 1.2 million reservists who stand ready to leave civilian life to defend our nation at a moment’s notice, Spare Parts adds a moving new perspective to the literature of war.

Long the stuff of historical, literary, and cinematic legend, the United States Marine Corps maintains arguably the most fervent cult of devotion of any branch of the Armed Services. Yet despite the colorful Corps traditions and cliches that have long since become a part of American culture, the crucial human dimensions of what drives a man to become a Marine have remained largely unexplored. Buzz Williams bravely stakes out his turf in this insightful memoir of his years as a Marine reservist and tour of duty in the first Gulf War of 1991.
Inspired by the USMC service of an older brother who died a tragic, early death, Williams' initial attraction to the Corps is almost cult-like in its intensity (his adopted nickname stems from the close-cropped military haircut he'd worn since childhood). As a way to balance his drive for service with the desire for a college education, Williams joined the USMC Reserves, and quickly found himself a second-class citizen in his cherished institution--when the Marines' "Green Machine" breaks down, they call for "Spare Parts," the Corps' derogatory term for reservists. But, when Iraq invaded Kuwait on the eve of his graduation from armor training at Camp Pendleton, new warrior Williams quickly found himself headed inexorably towards desert warfare in which American forces were often their own worst enemy.
What is striking about Williams' tale is its attentive, persistent psychoanalyses of both his fellow warriors and himself--an examination that finds many a conflicted hero with feet of clay. His unflinching observations about a venerable institution hobbled by bureaucracy, recruitment compromises, woefully inadequate training, and a chronic shortage of supplies seem especially timely in light of the contemporary military quagmire in Iraq. Yet through all his doubts and travails, Williams' dedication to the Corps emerges stubbornly Semper Fi. --Jerry McCulley

"Mister DeMille, I have no idea what I'm ready for."

Yes, in honor of Day 100, I am giving you a Gratuitous Kitten Shot. Three, in fact. These were all right in a row, on the camera. That was my final test of becoming a Master of Hardcore Kitten Photography.

Now I'm off to do some actual photography.

(OK, side note: I had a grumpy, fussy day. And at the end of it I got sad, amongst other things. Why is not important, but what is important is that when I'm sad, few things cheer me up as much as kitty tummies. So really, this represents the best of today. Because earlier this evening, I had Manny sitting on a cushion above my left shoulder, and this little boy sitting above my right, with his front paws resting on my shoulder and his loud purr rumbling in my ear. I know some of you are cat haters, but come on. That's pretty sweet. Yeah, I said sweet.)

Zeiss Ikon Icarex, Spare Part Selftimer Modules

These are Selftimer modules which where found in a cardboard box full of camera spare parts.
They belong to the focal plane shutters from Icarex 35 SLR's.

I know that the first owner, which passed away, was a serviceman for Rollei, Voigtlander, Zeiss Ikon, Canon and Yashica cameras.

I had a look at the Camerapedia pages of named manufactors but was unable to find a camera with a Selftimer Lever which had the same look as this one (see green arrow).

Does somebody identify the camera where this selftimer belongs to ? The most probable timeperiod is from about 1960 till about 1974.

Working at LaGrange Camera has been interesting, fun and crazy. No matter how long I go over the Nikon L20 or Canon A480, both are the cheep digital economy cameras that sell at $129 each and take AA batteries. People still don't understand!!....on the other hand they are not going to Best Buy to get a crappy Sony or Kodak plastic piece of crap.

Well anyway, this guy his wife and son walk in the store just to browse around. He's got like two bags full of Canon L lenses and I think a 5D Mark II around his neck, maybe something better. He was a really nice guy looking for a Canon 10D for a collector piece. His wife started this big rant (In a funny way) about his camera's and what not then he pulled up his sleeve. I'm like wow; I need to get a picture of that...LOL. Goodtimes.

[Taken yesterday, this is a photograph of my first roll of film with my "new" Nikon F90 film camera! Just cost me about 10% of the price that is used to cost brand new in the US in 1992. I was missing a lot the look of film and its dynamic range, so I got a pro camera that cost me close to nothing.

This is a shot taken at a dinner party organized by Movimento Acorda Lisboa (just add the .com and take a look at this Movement!] where was served both Mozambique and India food.]

It's official!

It's official!

I will soon be the proud new owner of a brand new Xsi Canon Rebel. I spent a lot of time last night this and the Nikon d500 last night, on every website I could find and then on youtube. What it basically came down to was this:

1) Canons seem to be compatible with more third party lenses; so cheaper stuff while I am learning
2) Roughly equal photo quality, assuming "Auto" settings
3) Familarity with Canons and how they work (my PNS is Canon, youtube videos showed that I would have at least some familiarty with how to work some of the basic settings right off the bat)
4) Boss is a Canon geek, so, insta-help
5) Won the spiffy lens Ana suggested pretty DARNED cheap on ebay (I like to believe fate nudges me in the right direction sometimes, despite contrary evidence).

That having been said, that Nikon was a pretty darned close second, that flip out screen . . I could think of a million ways in which that would have been incredibly handy and THEN some.

My initial setup will be thus (And this came in at a mere $10 over my budget): Used , mint Sigma Lens 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC
Canon XSI kit with the default kit lens
Cheapo small camera bag
Tiffen filters for each of the 2 lenses (I understand these aren't fantastic, but they'll do fine until I learn a bit and am ready for better ones--the two together were about $15, so I consider them expendable enough for learning purposes)

I probably still need a separate SD card; it seems like a bad idea to use the same one for both of my cameras (my pns uses the same type of card); I routinely forget to take it out of its computer slot anyhow. I am a firm believer in spare memory cards.

I MEANT to check 2 day shipping for an extra $6, but I had to go back and correct something in the order and forgot to check 2-day shipping again. ARGH! So I'll have to wait until probably next week.

If I've forgotten anything else vital to a basic intial DSLR setup, please let me know. All you flickr peeps have given me really good advice so far (whether I took it or not LOL), but I am sort of flying by book and gut here.

iPod touch as Flip video camera

iPod touch as Flip video camera

Here's a mockup of an iPod touch interface for capturing video. At the top there is a capacity meter, showing you how much space you have. It will also tell you how many minutes of record time and number of still images you can take. Below that is the video shown at 320x240 which should yield a nicer scale from the source 640x480. On the left at the bottom is digital zoom in and out. To the right is capture video and photo buttons. In the middle is a slow motion toggle. It would be nice to window the sensor at 320x240 to get at least a 2:1 slow motion effect. the Video will be recorded at 30 frames per second from a 60 frames per second or more source. At the bottom of the interface are mode toggles from Camera/Capture to Browse/Clips to Edit and even a direct upload to video websites like YouTube and Vimeo.

Stroboframe Pro-T Flash Rotating Bracket

The Stroboframe Pro-T Bracket is designed for you to hold the camera rather than the bracket, for a more natural way of shooting. Also allows you to instantly switch between horizontal and vertical compositions. Integral QR (Quick-Release) Plate mates to optional QR Receiver, allowing the bracket and tripod to be attached or detached instantly.

Among Stroboframe's lightest and fastest professional flash rotating brackets, the Pro-T features a pivoting, machined flash arm that centers the flash above the lens, creating picture-perfect horizontal and vertical compositions. Unlike conventional brackets, the Pro-T lets you hold the camera rather than the bracket, providing a more natural way of shooting. It also allows you to switch between horizontal and vertical compositions instantly. The solid machined aluminum construction, meanwhile, is lightweight and rigid, ensuring superior balance in the hand. And thanks to the Pro-T's 3-inch downward flash tilt, photographers will enjoy improve lighting coverage for all typical flash shooting distances. Other details include an integral quick-release (QR) plate that mates to an optional QR receiver for quick tripod mounting, full compatibility with accessory battery packs or motor drives, and a nominal lens-to-flash distance of 12 inches. The Pro-T, which stands 9.25 inches tall and weighs 14 ounces, works with all Stroboframe flash mounts, anti-twist plates, and quick-release accessories.
What's in the Box
Pro-T bracket, 1/4"-20 camera mounting screw and flash mounting knob, cork base pad, flash arm adjustment wrench.

?Greasy? let out a sigh, as if I were the problem. ?I was just trying my things in it. I really don?t see what the problem is here. It?s none of your business what I keep in my handbag.?

It is when my commission is at stake! I?m not your Designer Handbag Rental Service! My name is not BagBorrowOrSteal.com!

Enter Freeman Hall, an aspiring screenwriter who sets out to realize his Hollywood dream, but instead plunges into the seventh circle of Retail Hell when the rent comes due, selling animal-hide Hobos and overpriced clutches to Lookie-Loos and Picky Bitches?but always with a sunshiny smile.

Freeman toils in the handbag (that?s handbag, NOT purse) department of the Big Fancy department store, where he sees, hears, smells (and unfortunately, feels) it all! Here, he provides a true?and truly shocking?account of life from the other side of the handbag display. From early-morning RA-RA RALLIES to the craziest crazy-lady customers, Freeman?s horrific and hilarious workday tales redefine Juicy Couture.

As Freeman begins to plots his escape, he realizes that despite the Big Fancy?s lax return policy, for him, there really may be no returns . . . no exchanges . . . no way out.

Pogo: The Complete Daily & Sunday Comic Strips, Vol. 1: Through the Wild Blue Wonder (v. 1)

Pogo: The Complete Daily & Sunday Comic Strips, Vol. 1: Through the Wild Blue Wonder (v. 1)

The first volume of the second-most requested strip collection reprint in Fantagraphics' history.
Walt Kelly started his career at age 13 in Connecticut as a cartoonist and reporter for the Bridgeport Post. In 1935, he moved to Los Angeles and joined the Walt Disney Studio, where he worked on classic animated films, including Pinocchio, Dumbo, and Fantasia. Rather than take sides in a bitter labor strike, he moved back east in 1941 and began drawing comic books.

It was during this time that Kelly created Pogo Possum. The character first appeared in Animal Comics as a secondary player in the “Albert the Alligator” feature. It didn’t take long until Pogo became the comic’s leading character. After WWII, Kelly became artistic director at the New York Star, where he turned Pogo into a daily strip. By late 1949, Pogo appeared in hundreds of newspapers. Until his death in 1973, Kelly produced a feature that has become widely cherished among casual readers and aficionados alike.

Kelly blended nonsense language, poetry, and political and social satire to make Pogo an essential contribution to American “intellectual” comics. As the strip progressed, it became a hilarious platform for Kelly’s scathing political views in which he skewered national bogeymen like J. Edgar Hoover, Joseph McCarthy, George Wallace, and Richard Nixon. Walt Kelly started when newspaper strips shied away from politics — Pogo was ahead of its time and ahead of later strips (such as Doonesbury and The Boondocks) that tackled political issues. Our first (of 12) volume reprints approximately the first two years of Pogo — dailies and (for the first time) full-color Sundays.

This first volume also introduces such enduring supporting characters as Porkypine, Churchy LaFemme, Beauregard Bugleboy, Seminole Sam, Howland Owl, and many others. And for Christmas, 1949, Kelly started his tradition of regaling his readers with his infamously and gloriously mangled Christmas carols.

Special features in this sumptuous premiere volume, which is produced with the full cooperation of Kelly’s heirs, include a biographical introduction by Kelly biographer Steve Thompson, an extensive section by comics historian R. C. Harvey explaining some of the more obscure current references of the time, a foreword by legendary columnist Jimmy Breslin, and more. 32 pages of full-color and 320 pages of black-and-white comics

My first Polaroid

My first Polaroid

When I was walking around the flea market on Boxhagener Platz this Sunday, I had a feeling that if I found some old camera, I'd just buy it for the fun of it. And I found an old Polaroid SX-70 Model 2, dated somewhere between 1974 and 1977. It was really beautiful, technically OK and somewhat worn from the outside, but after a little bargaining, I got it for reasonable 30 Euros.

After ordering some film online, I got it just today and really wanted to take a picture now. So the first thing that caught my eye was my MacBook.

Feels somewhat sad. If I hadn't know that I am a geek before, I knew now. Although I can make the fact my excuse that Friedmann, my cat, was somewhere outside at that time and that I was still feeling too ill from a nasty cold to go outside in search for a proper motive...

;-)

Polaroid

Polaroid

When I bought the Hasselblad 500C/M about 2 years ago, the owner "threw in" a polaroid back. I didn't really pay attention to it as polaroid film is pretty expensive and just took a few shots with it with the film he also threw in. Recently I bought a couple of expired packs off the Bay and I put one in today... I think I like the result. It's got the depth and the colour I like. Does polaroid film come in high speeds?

This is my wife Nicole and my girl Rachel btw.

Tec: Hasselblad 500C/M, 80 F2.8 Planar, Fujifilm FP-100c expired.

2007 has been an emotionally interesting period in my life, presenting some perplexing challenges. I diverted and ploughed into photography, specifically street photography, making images of the vacancy of strangers seems like an easier thing to do then stop and think about the vacancy I am creating in my own life by avoiding certain questions.

This level of drive, has gone beyond an normal level of hobby photography and has pushed me into an obsession. A really amazingly interesting corner of existence I didnt know I could flourish in.

As a consequence of this, I pushed my gear hard, realised that you get what you pay for. Earlier this year I had one lens fall apart in my hands, then another and then another, and finally the camera did the same, then another, where the shutter literally exploded out the back of the chamber, then my digital camera completely imploded, from over use. Then a Leica appeared in front of me, an opportunity to try out a legend, and to have one (a dysfunctional one but one that would work with my level of ability perfectly), at the right price. In one month Id put 156 rolls of film through it, knowing that I could and that it would stand up to it, I pushed it into the ground, these things are truly amazing, completely mechanical, and designed for obsessive professional panic photography. The hardware is tough and friendly deceptively easy to fall into, empowering. The lenses do so much for the soul, and whats so amazing is that you cant even "see" through them, you have to wait for the negatives or the slides and thats when you know you have a thing of amazing power and capability.

This is my brass bodied chrome M6 TTL. Its got a faulty meter, shutter curtain and the framelines are stuck on 35mm, I have the highest quality 35mm fixed lens ever made.

Brass warms to the hand, it self lubricates, solid brass feels like ceramic, the focus tab runs with the aperture, the shape of the glass and the design of the optic and its coatings means that you are always in focus sharp or emotionally, the picture is always the best thing available.

Tom A's winder means that you get the decisive moment six times in a second and a half, HP5, Neopan or anything else that you feel the need to slide under your palms just records the visuals, your brain records the the satisfaction of aquisition........

I just sold the Summicron. This lens saw me through a learning curve with precision and excellence beyond belief. If you ever think of getting serious about making images, then this is the only place to start, and maybe even finish.

LDS Temple Reflections

Did I mention I love reflecting pools? Well I do and I love predawn photography as well.

I'm not Mormon but I have several close friends who are LDS and have been to and by the LDS Temple in Mesa Arizona several times and I've always wanted to photograph it just before sunrise.

I also wanted to do the west entrance as most people capture the north reflecting pool. For this my first attempt I used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital camera and a Canon EF 17-40mm F/4L USM Zoom lens.

This is straight out of the camera no Photoshop converted RAW to JPEG using Canon Digital Photo Professional I played with the white balance to get the unique look.

FLIP: Festa Literaria Internacional de Paraty

No cafe da Flip, em Paraty. So p/ sentir o clima.

Found the perfect bag to carry the D700 with Sigma 150-500 attached: LowePro Flipside 300. Leaves plenty of room for accessories. It even has a clip on the front to carry a monopod/tripod.

This image was used at Cambags review site. They were nice enough to give me credit.

Audio log #5- Captured!

Audio log #5- Captured!

I am recording this from a dank prison cell, in the bowels of the ship. I was captured by the Urags, and stripped of my weapons. I remember it vividly; or rather, I don't. Back in the crawlspace, I remember the sounds of the Urags suddenly stop. Then, a sickly-sweet smelling gas began pouring through the vents. I was unconscious in seconds. When I groggily woke up, I was cuffed, and being dragged by some Urag grunt to this cell. He tossed me in one that was deactivated, and began to leave. As he left, the bars of energy that serve as a door hummed to life, locking me in. All I have left is my audio recorder. Unfortunately for the Urags, I always keep some tools stashed away inside...
Note- The border is supposed to be the edges of a security camera lens.

Capture Copter

Capture Copter

G I Joe Adventure Team 1976 Capture Copter with Eagle Eye Commander and Intruders about to engage! Away from very merry bright yellow copter this one’s all black scheme and somewhat reminds me the car from Mad Max (1979). Who knows…. This one might have inspired the car designer for the movie. Ha Ha!! End of run issue and it is so great!! Wish Hasbro did not end AT stuff back then…..
