Learn how to create macros in Photoshop

Still do not know how to do macros in Photoshop? Do not worry, this tutorial you can learn to create your own macros and save, well, the most tedious and repetitive tasks.

What are macros? Basically, a macro is a resource that is used to group a series of operations or actions in a single order. For example, a macro can add a frame to an image, turn it into black and white, increase the contrast, resize and save it in JPEG, all by pressing a single button.

They are very useful for automating tasks. That is, if we need to do the same task in different images, macros, we avoid having to run one by one all the steps individually.

Create a macro in Photoshop is easy. In this short tutorial will show you how.

Step 1 - Plan actions

Before starting, it is always important to consider the actions or operations that we want to group in our macro. In this example we create a macro that allows us to pass a black and white image, resize and optimize it to hang it on the network.

Step 2 - Create macro

To create a new macro, simply press the button "Create New Action" under "Actions."

Step 3 - Record actions

Then we just have to perform actions or operations that we want to group in our macro. In our case: go to black and white, resize and save the resulting image in JPEG.

As we implement the actions we will see how they are recorded sequentially in the structure of our macro.

After adding all actions, stop the recording process by pressing "Stop execution / recording."

Note: If you stopped the process before time or simply want to add a new action, just press the button "Start Recording".

Step 4 - Assign a key to the macro

To facilitate the implementation of the macro, Photoshop allows us to assign a key combination. To do this, we select our macro, we display the options menu and select Options … action. "

In this window, we can define the shortcut or key combination that will allow us to run the macro directly. In our example: Shift + F2.

Step 5 - Test the macro

Once our macro ready, simply upload another image, select it and run the shortcut or key combination you have defined. Easy, right?

Currently, to change the size of images and other actions, there are tools to automate these processes and even work with lots of pictures. But surely none of these tools allow the flexibility that Photoshop macros.
