Was ring concept with the tree over the blue moonstone was customer requested special order . This is what came of the joined idea to final concept .

The ring is 21 mm across and 32 long 8 mm thick, 9 mm to the top of the moonstone . Has a forged Oak tree with a small rainbow moonstone is set over a blue goldstone .

The decorative twist lain around the ring was created by twisting a single strand of 18 gauge sterling wire , then doubling or folding in half and re twisting for the final effect . The band was crafted from two sections on 12 gauge sterling wire with a Triquetra Trinity Knot on one side and a Fleur de Lis on the other .

Special note the stone has one polished side set upward and one side with an owl carved into the back of the stone for wisdom . The oak for strength ,nature and Life the spans the years , the moon for mystery and the cycle of the year ,the Fleur de Lis for noble virtue and the Triquetra Knot for the for the spiritual trinity .

This is what I thought of when I began on the blue goldstone and the oak and moon :
The Knights of the Garter . An order created when much of England was still part pagan .Legends account for the origin of the Order involves the "Countess of Salisbury" . While she was dancing with or near King Edward at Eltham Palace, her garter is said to have slipped from her leg. The garter was the mark of the old religion of the Celts and every silver buckle on it was a coven under her leadership.

The Garter worn by the knights is dark blue velvet buckled strap bearing the motto Honi soit qui mal y pense (Shame on him who thinks evil of it.

This ring was designed for an idea that did not work. This ended up being the ultimate design with beauty. I hammered the disc several times before placing the onyx on an edged bezel cup. The dsic is setting on a double band of fine wire with the celtic design adding a lovely texture. The dsic measures 1 inch.

Strangely, I suspect it was Viking ancestors who drew me to New York.
For centuries my father's family lived on Britain's biggest tidal river, the Severn, on which there was a huge trade with the interior, and through the port of Bristol with America. In the nineteenth century they were in shipping from the Baltic to the Black Sea, and on the great rivers of Europe--the Rhine, the Danube, even the Russian River Dnieper. I myself was born beside a river--the Avon in Sarum. So when I first encountered New York's great harbor and the Hudson River as a teenager, and came to understand their historic canal and railroad links to the vast spaces of the Midwest, I felt both the thrill of a new adventure, and a deep sense of homecoming.
I first considered writing New York in 1991. I'd been in the city for a decade, was married to an American wife and sending my children to New York schools. I was even on the board of a coop building. But I wasn't sure how to organize such complex material, and for many years I put the project aside.
It was kind encouragement and old-fashioned editing from William Thomas at Doubleday that finally persuaded me to try again. And soon I was hooked.
New York's gift to the storyteller is magnificent: Indian and Dutch beginnings; larger-than-life historical characters like Lord Cornbury, the transvestite British Governor, the socialite Mrs. Astor, and the titanic J.P. Morgan; huge events from the Revolutionary War and the Civil War--when New York threatened to secede from the Union--to the Crash of '29 and the tragedy of 9/11. But it's the ordinary people I discover in my research--African slaves, Irish laborers, society ladies and sweatshop workers--whose lives move me most, and who provide so many of my plots and characters.
My own personal experiences also helped. I descend from both Philadelphia Quakers and Carolina colonists whose families were separated by the Revolutionary War. That helped give me insight into the agony of Patriots who, until the British government denied their claims, had always, like Ben Franklin himself, thought of themselves as free-born Englishmen. One of my closest friends since university is an Italian immigrant. Understanding the poverty and humiliations of her childhood helped me create the book's Caruso family who came through Ellis Island and lived in Little Italy.
I also love discovering how things work. It was as fascinating to study the history of Wall Street banking--and how financial crises always repeat themselves!--as it was to learn how the Empire State Building was constructed.
But above all, what I love about New York is that people have always come there in search of freedom, and usually found it. I was lucky to be born beside Sarum's Avon. But I'd like my New York children to scatter my ashes in the Hudson. --Edward Rutherfurd

A friend suggested I put my findings on wine sets - - so I made a set. A pearl is a hard,lustrous spherical mass,whiter or bluish grey,formed within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living oyster or bivalre mollusc. Just like the shell of a mollusk, a pearl is made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. The ideal pearl is perfectly rounded and smooth, but many other shapes of pearls occur. The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries, and because of this, the word pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, fine, admirable, valuable or genuine.
Valuable pearls occur in the ocean, but they are now very rare. Cultured or farmed pearls from pearl oysters make up the majority of those that are currently sold in the international markets. Pearls from the sea are valued more highly than freshwater pearls. Imitation or fake pearls are also widely sold in inexpensive costume jewelry, but the quality of their iridescence is usually very poor and, generally speaking, artificial pearls are easily distinguished from genuine pearls. Pearls have been harvested and cultivated primarily for use in jewelry, but in the past they were also stitched onto formal or ornamental clothing worn on special occasions. Pearls have also been crushed and used in cosmetics, medicines, or in paint formulations.
Cultured Pearl is artificially created by planting a core or nucleus into pearl oysters. Today almost all pearls used for jewelery are cultured. They are usually harvested three years after planting, but it can take up to as long as six years before a pearl is produced. This process was first developed by Kokichi Mikimoto in Japan. He patented it in 1896.
The nucleus is generally a polished bead made from a missel shell. Along with a small scrap of mantle tissue from another oyester to serve as an irritant, it is surgically implanted near the oyester’s genitals. Oyesters that survive the subsequent surgery to remove the finished pearl are often implanted with a new, larger nucleus. They are then returned to water for another three years of growth.
Fresh Water Pearl is produced in fresh water (mainly in China). They are oblong and, due to lack of hardness, wear out very fast and lose their luster.
Pearl found in
The finest pearls are found in the Persian Gulf. Other notable sources of fine-quality pearls are the Gulf of Mannar between India and Sri Lanka, the waters off Celebes, Indonesia, and the islands of the South Pacific. In the Americas the Gulf of California, the Gulf of Mexico, and the waters of the Pacific coast of Mexico have yielded dark-hued pearls with a metallic sheen as well as white pearls of good quality.
Freshwater mussels in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere have produced pearls of great value, as for example those from the Mississippi River. Pearling is a carefully fostered industry in central Europe, and the forest streams of Bavaria, in particular, are the source of choice pearls. Freshwater pearling in China has been known from before 1000 BC.

China has recently overtaken Japan in Akoya pearl production. Japan has all but ceased its production of Akoya pearls smaller than 8 mm. However, Japan maintains its status as a pearl processing center and imports the majority of Chinese Akoya pearl production. These pearls are then processed, often simply matched and sorted, relabeled as product of Japan and exported in the international markets.
In the past couple of decades, cultured pearls have been produced using larger oysters in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean. The largest pearl oyster is the Pinctada maxima, which is roughly the size of a dinner plate. South Sea pearls are characterized by their large size and warm luster. Sizes up to 14 mm in diameter are not uncommon. South Sea pearls are primarily produced in Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
A genuine pearl is supposed to have the following qualities:
• Moonlike, shining white color
• Perfectly round, globular shape and size
• Spotlessness and freedom from blemishes (dents, scratches, ridges) and impurities.
• Compactness, which gives it a high specific gravity.
• Lustre, soft glamor, attractiveness and brilliance of reflection
