Primitive Series-- Spear
As soon as men learned to turn metal into wire you can bet they learned how to stick it through holes in their ears to adorn themselves. It wasn't a big leap from that to hoops that could be dressed up even more.
The original hoops may have looked much like these, simple and easy to live in. Many museums have similar items.
I carefully handformed these out of 22 gauge sterling silver wire and filed the ends. They are 12mm or 1/2 inch in length on all three sides of the triangle.
The point hangs down, spearlike.
These would be great for upper piercings. I can make them 20 gauge wire, I can make them in other diameters and I can add beads to the wire, or make dangles for the hoops. They can also be done in different shapes.
