Vanlig Heyst Hagasólja - Leontodon Autumnale - A Faroese Wild Flower

I took this photo in July in the small Faroese island Nolsoy, which is near Torshavn, the capital. The population of Nolsoy is around 250.

This flower, Autumn Hawkbit, is an erect, perennial plant with few branches. The stem is more or less hairy. The heads are solitary, rather large with deep yellow corollas. The leaves are in a basal roestte, varying from toothed to pinnate. Very common on dry and wet grassland and along roadsides in the Faroe Islands. Flowering time is in July and august. This is a very common plant on the Faroe Islands. Origin: Native. Flowering: June-July.
Ragged Robin is a perennial plant with an erect, hairy stem which is branched at the top. The flowers are red, occasionally white, with four deep, unevenly cleft, thread-like petals. Grows on wet grassland.
