Skt. Laurentii Kirke, The church of St. Lawrence, at St?ndertorvet square, was built around 1125 A.D. of travertine from the underground of Roskilde. During the reformation in 1536 the church was demolished. Only the tower was left, and is today the Roskilde Tourist Office former city hall and town hall.

The ruins are preserved 6 1/2 ft. under St?ndertorvet square. They reveal the restored beautiful red and black clay tile floor and mediaeval fixtures of the church as well as archaelogical finds from the excavations.

The the tourist information guy tossed me the key and sent me around to the back of the building to go down some steps open a door and BAM you're there looking at some ruins from the 1500s.
