KitchenMoots I know, I already uploaded this scene last night, but now it's in S90-vision instead of iPhone-vision. All the better to appreciate the meticulous welds! Fun facts: There are two headset spacers installed. One is an Ahrens Wisecracker, and the other is off of a MONGOOSE MGX. Giro Atmos Road/Racing Bike Helmet (Medium, White/Silver) The Giro Atmos Road and Racing helmet provides legendary performance, style and comfort - and features the new Roc Loc 5 fit system. After more than ten years of refinement, this ground-breaking fit system provides an entirely unique use experience with an unmatched level of comfort, stability, adjustability and weight savings. With Roc Loc 5, you can easily dial-in both fit tension and adjust vertical position with a single hand. Just twist the dial for a tighter feel on tough terrain, then back it off a notch and relax across the flats or a warm climb. Even with these remarkable features, Roc Loc 5 is still 40-percent lighter than its popular predecessor, Roc Loc 4. Roc Loc 5 systems is: 1) Micro Dial. The heart of the Roc Loc 5 is this ratcheting, micro-adjusting dial. A simple, two-finger twist of the Micro Dial opens or closes the retention system and each click is audible. 2) Three-Position Vertical Fit - It's never been easier to change vertical positions and fine-tune fit. We incorporated a three-position bracket that features 15-millimeters of precise up/down movement. Like the Micro Dial, this system can be adjusted without removing the helmet. 3) Carefully crafted ergonomic arms are shaped to be as comfortable as possible, yet work flawlessly with Giro eyewear (what we call Super Fit engineering). 4) Dual Pods - These two panels are designed to firmly grasp the back of your head while comfortably cradling the occipital lobe. Strap management - with Roc Loc 5, your helmet straps are woven through the fit system, so they are always in the perfect position. Complex Internal Design - Dozens of small parts work together seamlessly to provide exceptionally user-friendly adjustment. Minimal and Light, yet Strong - Although this fit system is 40% lighter than its predecessor, it's much stronger. In testing, Roc Loc 5 performs flawlessly, even after 6,600 cycles (equivalent to 3 years of riding with 3 round trips per day). (14) cDSC 3855 The Giro Atmos takes it on the chin to save its owner. HOW TO TAKE PAINT OFF A BIKE : HOW TO TAKE PAINT
How to take paint off a bike : Charity bike ride uk How To Take Paint Off A Bike
Day 113: That's right... I took it Well that's how my facial expression reads to me anyway. 2000, The Year of the Body, and the year of my cancer surgery. I said "I'm not going to wait another year. I'm grabbing life as I can get it." And I made my plans for friends to take my kids for a week while I ran off to my first Burning Man. What a trip. It was so amazing to visit this other paradigm, a fleeting community of artists, hippies, drunks and dopers, performers and spectators (yes there are!), el-wire creations, discotechs and body paint, giftgiving and bartering, art cars, huge art installations, barebreasted bike riding and absurdity everywhere you look. Oh and of course, fire. A city of 25,000 that grows up and burns in down in one short week. It's beyond remarkable to watch, especially if you go early and stay late. Desert life, hot days, cold nights, sandstorms, playa dust in everything you own, mostly your hair, and music, music, music all night long. How strange it is to live in a mini-society where the mottos are "Leave no trace" and "Piss clear". Reentry...not so easy. Coming back to reality is a little tougher than returning from most vacations. I loved it so much, that I thought I would go every year, but life threw me a few more curve balls, and I only made it back there the next year. But I did bring with me an art car that was exactly what I had conceived of while there the previous year. It was a big project for me that I'm still proud I completed it and shared with the Black Rock City residents of 2001. With its hot pink lit up el-wire sign atop it, the Karaoke Cab. I painted a little old Toyota Corona hot pink, siliconed cds all over it, decked it out with music memorabilia (band pins, tie-dyed custom seatcovers, and a 6" dia de los muertos Elvis statue in his rotting white suit as my hood ornament), christmas lights inside, a full on karaoke system in the back seat, monitor on top for lyrics, and generator in the trunk. That's right, you want a ride out to the Red Dice Casino or over to Emerald City? You have to sing me a song from the list of 700 songs, microphone included, and a gelled over worklamp for stage lighting. Whoever is walking by as your audience. People gave me necklaces, cd's and beers so they wouldn't have to sing, but could still get a ride to the other side of the playa. Others wouldn't give back the mic, and didn't want a ride anywhere. What a hoot! I had such a good time, meeting all the folks I wouldn't have otherwise met, taking them for a ride, sometimes joining them at their parties. Still friends, but no longer a couple, Dan and I even traded each other in at the Costco Soulmate Trading Outlet, (dems the rules, trade one in/get a potential new soulmate/computerized hookup) as we both went again that year, but this time not together, and each of us was definitely on the prowl for a new soulmate. 5 o'clock and Feet Street, my prized memento from my first BM, stealing it at the very end when street signs no longer seemed to have a purpose. If I start planning now, I'm sure I can figure out how to get my ass there again this year. The scene of the crime. 'Fiti on sign near wall 2009.04.04. Finally back to photograph the freewall. Last time I was here with a camera was 15 September, and about an hour later, I broke my leg---bad. Complete fracture of the left femur, just below the ball end. How? I was returning home on my bike ride, just perhaps 15 minutes away. At the ramp up from the bikeway to the green bridge near the Point, I slowed and took the 180-degree turn. Real carefully, I thought, since the pavement was wet and gravelly from a recent spurt from the fountain. But I felt my rear wheel slip out from under me, and too late to swivel out of the clip. I fell gently, except that the bike frame and my body weight were too much for the trapped leg. I heard a snap, and knew from the sudden pain that it was really bad. Two pedestrians were on the bikeway above. One called out, "Are you alright?" as I held my left heel with one hand and pivoted the bike and pedal off me with the other. "No," I said, :"I need some help." They came down the slope, and I whipped out my cell phone. Called Chuck to say that I wouldn't make it back to fix breakfast for us, since I broke my leg. Then called 911 to get an ambulance. By then the two pedes were beside me, one took the bike and set it gently off the way, then took my shoes and helmet. By then the pain was strong, and I tried to instruct the other woman how to hold my leg to help ease strain on my hip. I could see a huge protuberance at my hip, and thought it was a dislocation. In what seemed to be only minutes, Chuck was there, and then the EMT van was backing down the bikeway ramp. As Chuck took my bike and shoes to his car, the EMTs --handsome, helpful men-- wrapped me in a body splint and lifted me onto a gurney. Then they made arrangements with Chuck to meet at Miami Valley Hospital for emergency treatment. Six weeks after surgery, I was back at work, maneuvering in a wheelchair. After another six weeks, I was starting physical therapy. After yet another six weeks, I was forgetting my cane when I left the house. By February I was itching for good weather for cycling outside, and in March I was commuting occasionally by bike. Now I feel as strong as before, perhaps even stronger, due to my consistent weight training and successful physical therapy. It's about time that I got to the free wall for a photo session. verde A green refuse bag outside Verde's. The sign is old - quite how old, I can't say - but certainly early or pre-20th century. The writer Jeanette Winterson purchased this property and Verde continues strongly as a now very upscale retail establishment selling all sorts of delectable goodies. The building itself is 18th-century and is in the heart of old Spitalfields, just down the road from Jack the Ripper's alleged local pub and the now forever spooky Hawksmoor church Christchurch Spitalfields. I tried to photograph that too, but was harrassed by the local working girls. The vast power and wealth of the City have engulfed Spitalfields Market, which is now pretty much concretised and glazed with chain stores and Starbucks. Winterson wanted to preserve this old building with its wonderful sign, but her wonderful shop is another example of the urban renewal of the area. The working girls and Jack's ghost are probably being priced out as I write. By the early 1890s, he had bought up most of the leading bicycle patents, and nearly every U.S. bicycle manufacturer paid him $10 per unit. By the height of the cycling craze in the 1890s, Pope was manufacturing more than 250,000 of his Columbia bikes annually and was beginning to produce cars as well. It wasn’t until 1911 that Pope mounted an engine on a bicycle, and began to manufacture motorcycles. The Pope motorcycle was high end. Selling for around $250 [about the price of a Model T], the Pope was more expensive than a Harley or an Indian. But the Pope was also a bike technologically ahead of its time. When most motorcycles were built with flathead engines, the Pope was powered by a 1000 cc, V-Twin, with overhead valves. This engine ran a three-speed transmission equipped with both hand and foot clutch. Inspired by his bicycles, the Pope featured a chain drive for the first time in 1918, while most manufacturers were still using belts. Perhaps the most innovative and unique feature of this motorcycle was its suspension, and rear suspension was uniquely Pope’s. The rear axle was mounted in a carrier that compressed a pair of springs on impact. Extended rubber hand grips were developed to utilize the rider as an integral component of the suspension. When reaching top speeds of about 70 mph, or traveling particularly bumpy roads, the grips absorbed vibration. This comfort feature, while primitive, became a huge selling point. With World War I raging, Pope turned to war production in 1918, and motorcycle production was quickly phased out. It’s kind of hard to figure, especially when Jay’s Pope starts on one kick, even at the ripe old age of 89! - Jay Leno Similar posts: kent compact 16 aluminum folding bike trunk mounted bike carriers boys bikes 16 thule bike carrier parts dirt bike insurance diy bike rack axo bike shoes brompton bike accessories chinese bikes |

Winter Bikes? If it wasn't so damn cold and snowing I would have taken a better photo. I had to stop by Wal-Mart on the way home from work tonight, and much to my surprise - in the middle of February and with a full on snow storm raging - they had a rack of bicycles for sale out front. Also, while there, I figured I'd pick myself up a new pair of winter gloves to replace the ones I have with holes in them. Thing is, they didn't have any. However, if I was interested in various colours of bermuda shorts or tank tops, Wal-Mart is the place to be in February. I suppose I'll just have to go back in June and get some winter gloves. 50 kroner My friend Marie bought these cycle handwarmers for 50 kroner cheap at the cheesy Cash and Carry bike shop.
