We found them rusted and draped in cobwebs, piled up against a storefront with several other pieces of dejected lawn furniture. They were a faded shade of black with occasional tints of green poking through the rusty spots – paint upon paint that had dulled with age. Their appearance, overall, didn’t hold much promise. We brought them home, shooing spiders. All day Saturday Brad worked on them in the garage, sawing through ancient bolts and sanding through layered colors, primering and painting, then painting again. At the end of the day our front lawn flaunted two gorgeous chairs, shining cherry red and white in the sun, begging to be used while sipping gin and tonic. I absolutely adore them.
