Day 221 - Illumination (221/365)
Trying to get back into a creative groove again, and wanting to try something new, so it was time to get my trusty Sunpak flash and remote triggers out again.
I stood the blue glass vase on top of the Sunpak hammerhead flashgun so the flash would fire up into and through the vase.
Behind the vase is a piece of foamboard with a black velvet sheet from a light tent draped over it and under the flash and vase. I put another piece of velvet over the top of the flash to hide it and over the parts of the flash head not under the vase.
Image is 'straight out of the camera' (SOOC) with absolutely no post-processing except resizing/downsampling in Irfanview.
Olympus E-600, 14-42mm ED lens @ 14mm/f3.5, 1/30s exposure, ISO400, Aperture Priority mode.
Composed using LiveView and AF, tripod mounted.
Lit by Sunpak AutoZoom 4000 flash set @ GN1.8 (1/128) from underneath with Sunpak remote sensor positioned to point upright in parallel to the vase. Flash triggered by CTR-301P radio trigger/receiver.
The Witch Wore Blue Velvet
Elphaba is green with envy, and so is every witch at Hogwarts. This sumptuous midnight blue cotton velvet hat is everything a witch chapeau should be. The brim is wide and mysterious; it projects about 6 inches from the forehead and is fully wired so you can bend it to your will. The cone reaches about 18 inches and is also wired so you can bend it for a quirky touch or leave it pointer straight for channeling. Green/blue iridescent sheer fabric band gracefully drapes the base of the crown, gathered by a buckle with glass gems that sparkle. A tall spray of peacock feather plumes and spears add that decadent drama, and all adorn the hat in the most striking manner.
For the gothic gorgeous witch in you....be wicked.
