Now operational again after repairs, the culprit behind the timetable problems, Class 31 diesel D5830, stands in the Loughborough Down Loop as we sit in Platform 2 after bringing in the delayed 11.40 local from Rothley.

The terrible weather plus the no-show of the visiting Class 40 meant a lower-than-usual turnout for this 1960s Gala.

The external steam pipe of our 8F 48305 can just be seen in the bottom left of the shot.

Construction continues to repair a 100 year old steam pipe main that ruptured in July 2007, blowing out windows and closing buildings in the vicinity.
