The Coffee Pot in Bedford, Pennsylvania is an example of novelty architecture. The lunch stand was built in the shape of a coffee pot by David Koontz in 1927. It was threatened with demolition in the 1990's, but in 2004 was moved across the street and restored.

In the morning, a package arrived. I was already feeling Christmasy, having discovered where the early light falls across the floor and the perfect placement of the chair. It was an electric kettle I'd ordered, a stylish red model it happens he had in his former kitchen, a kitchen I've never entered but in which I knew his wife had drawn the outlines of pots and pans handsomely on perforated pressboard, a la Julia Child. (We also have the same pasta machine, a model I suspect most people who bother with a manual pasta machine own.) In the box with the kettle, the book of poems Dean Young wrote waiting for his heart transplant. I hope that someone shopping today on Amazon for electric kettles scrolls down to read, "Other people who bought this kettle also purchased Fall Higher." I sat down in the chair with the book. I was already drinking coffee, which felt great. After the first couple poems, I got up to sweep the floor. The poems were too good, they needed a cleaner floor. I was already whooping quietly, murmuring amens and holy fucks and oh my god, yesses, and I knew I might start pacing as I read. While I was up, I neatened the record albums in their rows beneath the picture window. I had the idea to buy many heavy paperweights to keep the albums from falling all the time. Then I sat back down and read:

When we found this 1946 space heater, its heating days were long over. We cleaned it, gutted it, added a few lights and Robottie B. Hottie was born!
Inside the heater are two flashing red C7 bulbs that give a lot of visual action behind the grate. On top there are two blue "eyes" and two flexible "arms" with retro purple swirl bulbs. In the center is a 1970s bicycle headlamp that has been fitted with one flashing green C7 bulb. New cord and all bulbs are included. Rotary 3-way switch allows the headlamp to operate alone or in harmony with the other lighted components. 16"H x 15"W
By the way, there's no danger here Will Robinson. All electrical parts are new and safely secured.
