Comparison
So, the Carol Ferris doll has got a new body, which is why I pulled out Barbies with different body types to compare her to them. And while I was at it, I thought more people might be interested in that. So, here are the inevitable comparison shots. ;)
Comparison (adad 20/365)
Here's the comparison shot. It's so funny that Ddungs seem like they're going to be teeny tiny, but they have a big ol nog just like Blythe. Shorter, chubbier bod, but cute big noggin.
The dry air is even affecting April's hair. Arrugh!

Idi Amin at Jebel Arafat Family Photo 1983 Saudi Arabia
Jebel Arafat Fruit Market Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 1983
My most spiritual experience took place one eventful day when Dad took us to Makkah on the date when the Governor of Makkah would be doing the annual cleansing of the Holy site.
As we circulated, Tawwaf, the Kabah the inherent keeper of the keys to the Kabah recognised Amonye (dad) and joyfully grabbed his hand leading him towards the Golden Door upwards a flight of stairs. Amonye instinctively told us to stay close to him as we were given the privilege to enter the inner most sanctuary of the Holy Kabah. The keeper of the keys instructed All the Boys to pray two Rakkats at each of the four walls of the Kabah. What struck me was the fact that at every wall and at that particular moment, in time, we were facing millions of Muslims from every point of the globe who were praying towards this very centre of the Muslim Universe! Our Teaching claims that the Kabah is Parallel to a similar Kabah Twaffed by Angels in Heaven and that if one were to head straight up from this point they would actually head up the mythical staircase to heaven. We were then given the privilege to clean the inside of the Kabbah which we did with relish and spiritual faith. After which we went a final stretch of stairs up to the very top of the Kabah where brass rings hold the Woven black Silk Shroud.
The whole family never stopped talking about this event. Whenever I re- tell this story to learned Imams and Sheikhs in Africa, they always tell me how lucky I was to have had this chance to enter the inner Sanctuary of the Holy Kabah. The significance of the Keeper of the Key to the Kabah recognizing Dad was not lost to me. They had last met in 1972 when Dad came for his initial Haj in the company of the Late King Faisal. On that momentous day, as soon as they walked into the sacred sanctuary it started to rain. Shocked Faisal looked across at his VIP visitor and said "You must be a Special Visitor. This last happened centuries ago." Dad only smiled back in his mind, a certain knowledge of his Adibu / Bura Clan's reknowned Rain Making skills... here was Al-Amin being praised for his service to Islam by a descendant of a particular sect appointed by the original Al-Amin (The Prophet Peace Be Upon) following the future prophets just decision in solving a wrangle amongst the Qura ish tribe who were undecided on who was supposed to place the Holy Black stone on the newly reconstructed Kabah.
The wrangle had come to a head and the chiefs had decided that the very next inbound traveller on the caravan trade route would decide what solution to take in the dispute. Fatefully, Al-Amin as Muhammad Peace (Peace Be upon Him) was then called for his trustworthy character was the very next person to arrive from an errand as part of Khadija’s trade caravan. The chiefs were heartened when they saw Al-Amin and requested him to solve the problem. His solution was brilliantly simple. He thought for a moment and then said “bring me a Robe.” He took the robe they brought and spread it on the ground and placed the Black Stone on it and then said , “Let the elders of each clan hold onto one edge of the robe". They all complied and together carried the stone to the site of the construction. There, the Future Prophet of Islam picked up the stone and laid it in its place by himself. Indeed, bloodshed was thus averted and the dispute was solved.
The Quray'sh completed the building of the Kabah raising its walls to a height of the olden measure of 18 cubits and in order to make it more defensible, they raised its entrance through the Golden Door we passed through with Dad above ground level. I do recall a small argument we had as to the number of pillars that hold/support the roof. Originally on that initial roofing by “Pachomius” a Byzantine Trader who was also a builder by trade, they erected two parallel rows of three pillars each to support the ceiling and built that stairway on its north side that led us to the very roof of the Kabbah. There is also variations as to at what age our future Prophet of Islam actually was at the time of the reconstruction of the Kabbah and his Trustworthy (Al-Amin) arbitration between the Qura-ysh clans concerning the Black Stone. While some claim he was 25 years, others claim he was 35 years old.
Another Highly enlightening experience was Amonye's (dad's) annual ritual of breaking fast at the Haram Alsharif in Makkah from the start to the finish of the Holy Month of Ramadhan. We would set off in a long convoy with him in the metallic blue Vogue Range Rover or the white Caprice Classic Chevrolet estate , while we took the rear in either the Burgundy Fleetwood Cadillac or the cream 505 Peugeot estate. We normally set off right after Asir prayers and would arrive just before the magrib prayers and take up vigil until the announcement to break fast which we did with dates and fresh fruit juice. We would then pray in congregation with fellow muslims the magrib p
Prints for Northwest Airline Miles!! Donation Plea!
I know there are people out there that have piles of frequent flyer miles and don't use them. If you happen to be such a person and would really like to help a new family out, please get in contact with me.
I met this couple in Uganda- they're simply the most amazing people. Rose is due in two weeks and in South Africa. Moses can't raise the funds to meet up with her.
Northwest's program allows for inter-africa flights for only 25,000 miles- the same as a domestic US ticket. I'm afraid I depleted my mile stash on this trip or I'd gladly give them so that he could be there for the birth of his baby.
It's a long shot, but if anyone has extra miles burning a hole in their account and would like to help out, I'd love to hear from you. I'll take care of whatever taxes and fees are associated.
I will also gladly donate prints of anything you see on my site that won't get me in model-release trouble.
Thanks much.

Cheap Airfare France
- A low-cost carrier or low-cost airline (also known as a no-frills, discount or budget carrier or airline) is an airline that generally has lower fares.
- A country in western Europe, on the Atlantic Ocean; pop. 60,424,000; capital, Paris; official language, French
- France ( or ; : ), officially the French Republic (Republique francaise, ), is a state in Western Europe with several overseas territories and islands located on other continents and in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans.For more information, see .
- a republic in western Europe; the largest country wholly in Europe
- French writer of sophisticated novels and short stories (1844-1924)
The chapters of this book have been divided into 16 color-coded regions that reflect the diversity of France. These are based on the country's historical regions that were often defined by their geography and landscape as much as by their influence and power. Each has developed its own special flavor; its own architecture, cuisine, customs, music, dress, dialect and even language. The pages of the Eyewitness Travel Guide will give a taste of these areas and show you what there is to see and do.
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more comprehensive, engrossing, and just plain fun-to-read guidebook than the Eyewitness Travel Guide: France. Spilling over with all sorts of useful information for the traveler, you'll find three-dimensional drawings, floor plans, and detailed neighborhood maps, as well as timelines, charts, even Metro stations. Broken into four sections--"Introducing France," "Region by Region" (covering Paris quite impressively, as well as the Loire Valley, Provence, Brittany, and Normandy), "Traveler's Needs," and "Survival Guide"--the guide paints a complete picture of the country. Readers will especially appreciate the hundreds of color photos of everything from ski towns in the Alps to the beaches of St. Tropez to vineyards of the Rhone Valley. You'll also find street-by-street illustrated city walks (Paris's Champs-Elysees and St. Germain-des-Pres are two good ones), not to mention the best brasseries, bistros, and boulangeries. --Jill Fergus

* Bibliotheque Mazarine, em Paris
* Bibliotheque de l'Institut, em Paris
* Bibliotheque Thiers, em Paris
* Bibliotheque du Musee Conde, em Chantilly
1. Classe das ciencias fisicas e matematicas, com dois presidentes, um para as ciencias fisicas e outro para as ciencias matematicas, organizado em 10 seccoes;
2. Classe das ciencias morais e politicas, com 6 seccoes;
1. Classe das Ciencias Fisicas e Matematicas;
2. Classe da Lingua e Literatura Francesa;
3. Classe das Linguas Classicas e de Historia;

Beautifully illustrated as well as informative, One Hundred & One Beautiful Towns in France: Food and Wine explores the local delicacies of a country known for and proud of its love of food and wine. Organized by region, this book features a wonderful sampling of French plaisirs de la table and the shops and markets where you can find them. The classic dishes and drink of France are as remarkably varied as its many different regions: Quench your thirst with a glass of calvados, the heady apple brandy that Normandy is known for; reach "land’s end" or Finistere, in Brittany, and enjoy a galette, a savory buckwheat crepe stuffed with ham and cheese or mushrooms and lobster; don’t miss the vendange (harvest) in romantic Burgundy or a simple, hearty meal of boeuf bourguignon; in scenic Alsace enjoy a piping-hot flammekueche, a tart of local cheeses, speck, and onions. A thorough appendix provides useful addresses and phone numbers to accommodate planning your trip, including hotel listings, restaurants, wineries, and shops. Sidebars give information on local delicacies to be tasted and imbibed, as well as where to find the choicest goods.

Donnybrook based D757 back on the streets of Dublin having safely returned from its trip announcing the brand new technology of the 1980's, to the good people of Cork, the revolutionary Compact Discs! It all seems so long ago now, but who would have thought a small opticial disc would change the world of entertainment in such a profound way?
Perhaps of note are, the Dublin Bus sponsored garbage bin on the street, and the kamikaze like "Evening Herald" scooter who was attempting to squeeze in and out of the traffic!
Dublin Under Fog
Yesterday evening sea fog moved into parts of Dublin for a few hours. I was up in the Dublin hills at a place called Barancullia which offered a great view of the city covered in a glowing veil of mist.

Mixing fluidly between afro-beat, reggae, rock, Brazilian, soul, easy listening, electronic and rare library music, Thievery Corporation create a set that takes the listener on a trip of truly global proportions. The Outernational Sound is a seamless recording from many nights of sonic exploration with the turntables and a crate of records. From warehouse parties in Caracas to elegant soires in Honolulu, and root downs in Kingston, Garza and Hilton have played a lot of rare wax for a broad spectrum of listeners. Now, in a one-hour mix CD, the sound system has been mashed up and the whole world can share in Thievery Corporation's Outernational Sound.
Getting back to their turntables after the all-original work on 2002's The Richest Man in Babylon, Thievery Corporation dust off a collection of soulful wax for The Outernational Sound. Rob Garza and Eric Hilton have gone with an increasingly organic approach since their relatively electronic and modern Mirror Conspiracy, looking more back than forward. Happily, the duo has good taste. If that wasn't obvious after the collections on Babylon and 2001's Sounds from the Verve Hi-Fi, Outernational ends the argument. The record rambles through Brazilian jazz, afro-beat, and a kaleidoscope of funked-up rhythms that only a serious purveyor of world beat chill tunes could unearth. Their big ears, however, can't always keep up with their DJ skills; 20 tracks are smooshed into just over an hour, and you can feel Garza and Hilton sweating to make the different musical bloodlines congeal. You'll likely find yourself playing only sections of the record, depending on your mood. Still, whatever section you settle on should supply a hearty dose of satisfaction. --Matthew Cooke

MONOCOUPE 110 SPECIAL
Woody Edmondson, airshow pilot and aerobatic champion, thrilled airshow crowds with his Monocoupe 110 Special Little Butch throughout the late 1940s. The Monocoupe 110 Special was a special design built for racing and aerobatics from the basic Monocoupe of the 20s and 30s, the airborne sport coupe of the era.
The original Monocoupe design came from Luscombe's desire to build an enclosed two-place aircraft for business or person use, something lighter and more comfortable than open-cockpit biplanes. Luscombe was somewhat influenced by the Belgian Delmonty-Poncelet Limousine, a high-wing monoplane with a side-by-side enclosed cabin and the reverse curve rear fuselage lines that were to become one of the signature identifier features of the Monocoupes. Luscombe founded Central States Aero Company and hired Clayton Folkerts, a young self-taught designer. In 1928, the Mono 22 was the first light aircraft awarded an Aircraft Type Certificate (number 22) and in 1930 it was fitted with a Velie M-5 engine to become the Model 70. Central States Aero Company became Mono Aircraft, Inc., of Moline, Illinois, a subsidiary of the Velie Motors Company, and the Model 113 and the Model 90 followed.
The Model 110 was basically a Model 90 with a 110 hp Warner Scarab radial engine. The Model 110 Special, a clipped-wing version of the 110, grew out of racing pilot Johnny Livingston's desire to have a faster aircraft for the National Air Races. In 1931 his 110 was streamlined with fairings and wheel pants, and in 1932 Livingston asked Monocoupe to shorten the wingspan from the standard 32 feet to 20 feet, reduce the size and shape of the tail, and install a larger 145 hp Warner Scarab engine. The factory shortened the wingspan to just over 23 feet, retaining sufficient wing area to sustain safe flight during high-speed pylon turns. The changes improved the speed from 150 mph to 220 mph. Over several years, a total of ten Specials emerged, seven were built or modified by the factory, and three were modified by homebuilders.
The Monocoupe 110 Special Little Butch, N36Y, was built at the factory in Melbourne, Florida, and test flown on February 3, 1941, by then-Monocoupe president Clare Bunch (Don Luscombe had left the company in 1933). The original base color of the airplane was Monocoupe Blue with an ivory trim. W. J. Coddington bought the aircraft on March 5, 1941, but severely damaged the airplane in a landing accident and returned it to the factory for repairs and resale. Guy Gully of Farrell, Pennsylvania, bought the aircraft on November 16, 1941, but had an accident and sold it to J. D. Reed of Houston, Texas, on August 3, 1943. Reed sold it on March 16, 1944 to W.W. "Woody" Edmondson of Lynchburg, Virginia, who named it Little Butch because of its bulldog-like appearance. Edmondson initially used the airplane for transportation between airports in Virginia and North Carolina where he operated government-sponsored pilot flight training programs during the war. In 1946 he re-entered the airshow circuit and installed a Warner 185 hp Super Scarab. This engine had a pressure carburetor for inverted flying and had a Koppers Aeromatic controllable pitch propeller. He often flew two or three air shows a day all scheduled close to Lynchburg so that he could fly, in his business suit, from one to another.
One day Edmondson severely tested the structural integrity of the airplane by making a high-speed inverted pass and pulling up into a series of vertical rolls. This maneuver always subjected the aircraft to severe negative "g" loading conditions for which the airplane was not originally designed. It went into a series of uncontrollable snap rolls and ended up inverted at about 2,000 feet. Edmondson recovered control but then noticed that the right wing struts had an elbow bend of several inches in them. He reinforced the struts by nesting the next size struts within the existing size streamlined tubing.
In 1946 and 1947 at the Miami Air Manuevers, Edmondson placed second in the aerobatics competition to Bevo Howard in his Bucker Jungmeister, which is also in the NASM collection, but he won in 1948 when the first International Aerobatics Championships were held. Sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation, he continued to use N36Y on the air-show circuit throughout the east and midwest until 1951. Edmondson sold the airplane to Johnny Foyle, an air show pilot of South Boston, Virginia, on August 22, 1960, who twice flipped the airplane over on landings. Foyle was killed in another airplane accident and John McCulloch, an Eastern Airlines captain from Naples, Florida, bought N36Y on June 18, 1965. McCulloch shipped it to Florida to be rebuilt by Monocoupe specialist C.V. Stewart and then test-flew the rebuilt airplane on March 8, 1966.
McCulloch flew Little Butch throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s from his home in Virginia to airshows all across the eastern half of the U.S, and he frequently flew at the Flyin
Planes at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is a public airport located 3 statute miles (4.8 km) south of downtown Washington, D.C., in Arlington County, Virginia. It is the commercial airport nearest to Washington, D.C. For many decades, it was called Washington National Airport, but this airport was renamed in 1998 to honor former President Ronald Reagan. With a few exceptions, flights into and out of DCA are restricted to destinations within 1,250 statute miles (2,010 km), in an effort to control aviation noise and send the major air traffic volume to the larger but more distant Dulles International Airport. In 2006, the airport served approximately 18.5 million passengers. Reagan National is a focus city for US Airways, Reagan National's largest carrier. The US Airways Shuttle offers near-hourly air shuttle service to LaGuardia Airport in New York City and Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts. Delta Air Lines' Delta Shuttle also offers near-hourly air shuttle service to LaGuardia. Reagan National only provides U.S. immigration and customs facilities for corporate jet traffic; the only international flights allowed to land at DCA are those from airports with U.S. Customs and Border Protection preclearance, which includes the international airports in the Bahamas and Bermuda, as well as some major Canadian airports. For all other international passenger flights, those in the Washington Metropolitan Area can use Dulles International Airport west of the city and Baltimore-Washington International Airport northeast of the city.

- Larnaca, (???????, Larnaka; Larnaka or Iskele) is a city on the southern coast of Cyprus. It has a population of 140,000 (2010) and is the island's second largest commercial port and an important tourist resort.
- (Greek: ???????, Turkish: Larnaka) is a city on the east coast of Cyprus. The major international airport of Cyprus, Larnaca International Airport is located in this city. In ancient times, Larnaca was known as Kition, or (in Latin) Citium.
In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have occasionally been asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services in Cyprus. The purpose of this study is to understand the density of demand within Cyprus and the extent to which Larnaca might be used as a point of distribution within Europe. From an economic perspective, however, Larnaca does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries, rather, it represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.
In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for Larnaca over the next five years for hundreds of industries, categories and products. The goal of this report is to report the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by Larnaca when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. For many items, latent demand is clearly observable in sales, as in the case for food or housing items. Consider, however, the category "satellite launch vehicles". Clearly, there are no launch pads in Larnaca used by the space industry to launch satellites. However, the core benefit of the vehicles (e.g. telecommunications, etc.) is "consumed" by the area served by Larnaca. Without Larnaca, in other words, the market for satellite launch vehicles would be lower for the population in Cyprus, Europe, or the world in general. One needs to allocate, therefore, a portion of the worldwide economic demand for launch vehicles to both Europe and Larnaca.

Cancellations
We made it out of the Sao Paulo airport without any issues. Then we get to New York and- BAM! Our flight home is cancelled. To make it better, they said it was because of weather so we didn't get any free food and we had to pay for our own hotel. We ended up staying at the airport for four hours or so, which was interesting. I decided to snap my self while I waiting for Pastor Jeff and Bill to figure out what we were going to do. So... here's me, waiting at the airport in my dirty flip flops. We set all of our luggage against the back corner of a little food place (something ending in Pain. I think it was French... it had rockin' smoothies, regardless. :]). I decided 19 people's luggage made for a pretty fun airport photo. ;)
[163]
All flights cancelled; enjoy your impromptu stay.
As opposed to the serendipity of my previous flight out of JFK, this time around, weather cancelled any flights heading north or west, which I only found out after my crazy 40 minute run through customs, luggage, terminals and security to the gate. One expensive phone call later, I changed my flight to skip Toronto and to go directly to Vancouver the next morning, meaning a bit of couchsurfing this night.

Winter wonderland
A snowstorm caught us on the way out, and it almost seemed like one
might delay us getting back! All week we'd been hearing about how there
was going to be another storm starting Friday and going through
Saturday, and so it came to be. Friday ushered in the storm in the
afternoon, when we were at the Worcester Art Museum. Things only got
worse after that, to the extent that we were sitting in Legal Seafood at
Logan Airport, wondering if we'd be facing another day of canceled
flights. In the end, we were able to take off, but only after being
de-iced and sitting on the runway for an extra 20 minutes. Oh, did I
mention the copilot coming out of the cabin just moments before take off
and looking out the windows at the wings!?

B-17 Overhead
A B-17 from the Collings Foundation flew over my neighborhood a few times this weekend while giving sightseeing rides out of nearby Worcester airport (KORH). I didn't know they were flying at Worcester this week, but I made a good recovery, calling the coordinator and scheduling a B-24 flight for 8:30 Monday morning!!! We saw him do a fairly steep turn, probably pointing out the scenic and nearby Wachusett reservoir.

This is one story from our trip last October that is still waiting to be told. Trust me, you wanna read it... and laugh! I'm not sure I won't be sorry later for telling it, but here goes... before I think it twice *s*.
We had 6 flights in this last trip. We flew to Israel through London, UK (thus 2 flights each direction), and we also flew from Israel to Italy and back... 6 flights all together.
Now, I have a lot of flying hours under my belt... dozens of flights along the years. I know exactly how things work. You have to be at the airport few hours before your flight, so you have enough time to go through security checks and what not. We all know how it works, and we try to be on time, even before time, to make sure we'll be on the airplane when it leaves the ground.
So on our last day of the trip we left Israel early in the morning and got to Heathrow, London's airport around 10:00 am. We had a layover of 6 hours till our connection flight to Calgary at 4:10 pm. As soon as we could, we went through the passport checks and out the main building of terminal 5. The weather was ok, a bit of rain and then the sun came out.
Afterwards, Joe wanted to take photos of airplanes taking off. We climbed to the roof of terminal 5, and spent sometime there, shooting. The sun was very lovely at this time, and we just enjoyed the passing minutes.
We came back inside the terminal around 2:00 pm. We knew that the airport authorities let passengers know which gate they should board from only 1 hour before flight, for security reasons. All along we mentioned few times to each other that our flight goes out on 4:10 pm. We knew it, we didn't forget, and we planed our moves according to the clock.
Around 3:00 pm (70 minutes before the flight's schedule) we checked the screens and saw our flight's boarding gate mentioned there. We checked things up and made sure we knew where we had to go. Nobody was in the gate yet, so we decided to go back to the duty free stores and finish our souvenir shopping, since we still needed to buy few more little thing.
Let me tell you... if you decide to bring something back from your trip to family members or friends, don't never ever leave it until you have no more time to look for the right gift. Buying stuff at the airport's duty free store can be very expensive. Bad mistake on our part... something I'll never do again!!!
So here we were, dragging ourselves in and out the stores. I was loaded with my camera bag + my personal purse, which - of course - was heavy. Joe was carrying his camera bag + another bag with the Netbook and other gear. Besides that we had a bag we took with us to carry whatever we buy at the airport, which was already half full from Israel's airport. Everything started to feel too heavy, our backs were hurting, and the fun was gone, making room for some stress and impatience. And all this time, we were checking our watches, making sure we have time to get to our flight at 4:10 pm.
Tomorrow, we'll tell you how it ended.
Concorde and Vickers Viscount!
DAILY MAIL
By David Norris Industrial Correspondent Friday April 19, 1996
THE first one flew proudly into service the same year the Queen was crowned, Everest was conquered and Len Hutton became England cricket captain.
And yesterday , 43 years to the day since its inaugural journey from London to Cyprus in 1953, the Vickers Viscount took off for a farewell 45-minute flight.
On boards the tubby little plane, British-made to its last rivet, there were moist eyes among the guests, including its designer Sir George Edwards.
Despite recent illness and leaning on a stick, 87-year old Sir George was determined to join Flight 1949, the date his brainchild took shape on the drawing board, for a journey into aviation history.
The phone was the world's first turbo-prop airliner, its four propellers are driven by gas turbine engines, and the first to have pressurised cabin so it could fly above the weather.
But thousands of passengers who flew with British European Airways are more likely to remember its old-fashioned comfort, huge windows and ample leg room.
As if reluctant to take its final bow yesterday, the Viscount which was due to pick up the dignitaries was damaged and another one had to be flown to Heathrow to take its place.
Among the guests saying farewell to the red, white and blue plane, was 83 year old Sir Peter Masefield, who headed BEA, now British Airways, in 1953,.
He said simply: "This aircraft did us proud."
Also on board was British Airways president Lord King.
He recalled: "Flying in the Viscount in the 1950s was like entering a new world."
From the ground, Prince Philip said: "I am sure the many people who flew, or flew in, these aircraft will be pleased that it is being given a suitable farewell."
BA's remaining 24 Viscounts were taken over in 1982 by the independent British Air Ferries, now British World Airlines.

Chicago Airport in the snowstorm
de-icing the wings for take-off from Chicago to Phoenix.
I spent 17 hours today traveling from Washington D.C. to Tucson via Chicago and Phoenix. The major snowstorm in Chicago was on its way into D.C. Amid the nasty weather I endured a track fire on the D.C. metro at the national airport, a cancelled flight (was rebooked on an earlier and nearly empty one), a fantastic crew, a scary landing onto the snowcovered runway at ORD, a nearly 4 hour layover, two de-icings, delays, takeoffs and landings, and a two hour drive to Tucson.
ORD H-wing Sunset
I was connecting via Chicago during my long 13 hours journey to Miami. Why via Chicago? ... because my direct from Toronto was cancelled... what a day... This was taken during my flight delay in Chicago... and the sun was setting... at least I get a good picture out of the 13 hours journey :)

Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar PC Flight Stick. When you?re looking for the best of the best in flight simulation, three words come to mind: precision, realism and performance. The new partnership between Thrustmaster and the Virtual Thunderbirds demonstrates the perfect union of these concepts, bringing the most advanced flight stick on the market to the most skilled hands in aerial simulation. Thrustmaster?s HOTAS Cougar is unlike any other simulation device on the market. A replica of the legendary F-16, the benchmark in terms of modern fighter planes, the HOTAS is the product of long and considerable investment in Research and Development. Thrustmaster?s partnership with the prestigious U.S. Air Force adds unique credibility to the HOTAS, since the product?s functionalities are in every way identical to the controls of the real aircraft. The Virtual Thunderbirds, a leading aerobatic simulation group, are well-known for their skills at reproducing aerial shows performed by the United States Air Force?s Thunderbirds demonstration squadron, composed solely of F-16 fighter aircraft. A replica crafted for performance. Our all-metal HOTAS Cougar is a real powerhouse of technologies, featuring 28 programmable buttons, adjustable throttle resistance, adjustable Afterburner and Idle detents and a variety of programmable hat-switches, in particular. All of this results in formidable efficiency and great realism in aerial simulation games, notes Eric Mindjimba of Thrustmaster?s International Marketing Department. Based on the actual controller found in F-16 fighter aircraft, the HOTAS transports you to the furthest reaches of flight-simulation technology. From the second you grab hold of both the stick and the throttle, you notice the difference. All metal, black, and ready for business--that is the HOTAS. This controller offers up to 28 programmable buttons, multiple programmable hat switches, and adjustable resistance for the throttle, afterburner, and idle detent. These are just a few of the many features of this revolutionary stick and throttle combo. Without question, the HOTAS Cougar is the controller for true flight enthusiasts.

Air Jamaica - Airbus A300B4-203 (6Y-JMS) - Flight Deck
Not much left in this cockpit... It has been sitting on the ground in this condition for several years now. The southern Arizona climate (and massive lack of rain) keeps these old birds in good shape and keeps the corrosion away - even with windows missing.
Aircraft operated by Varig from 1981-1990 as PP-VND and Air Jamaica from 1990-1996 as 6Y-JMS. Aircraft was registered as N143EV to Evergreen in 2001, but I don't know that it ever actually left MZJ. This same registration (6Y-JMS) is now in use by Air Jamaica on an Airbus A321 aircraft.
Her last flights appear to have been on September 26, 1996 from Kingston, Jamaica (KIN) to Miami, Florida (MIA) and then on to Marana, Arizona (MZJ).
It is always nice to see an Airbus that actually had yokes and worked like a real airplane - with cables running from the cockpit to the control surfaces. The newer, fly-by-wire Airbus models that use computers to completely control the aircraft during flight leave a lot of room for problems. A pilot should be in control of his aircraft - not forced to make suggestions to a computer that may or may not agree with what the pilot wants to do.
Beech 1900C Cockpit (in-flight)
The Buddha Air crew were very friendly: they let me take photographs of the cockpit and the co-pilot showed me where the TCAS and GPS controls are and explained how this craft can fly on a single engine for hours (assuming there's enough fuel). Beech 1900C, registration 9N-AGI.
pro flight yoke system by saitek
Why does one man succeed and another fail? There is an answer. And it will be found in this book. For there are formulas, s, recipes-rules, principles, systems-even treasure maps, if you please-which, when followed in proper sequence, bring the good things in life to those who seek them. Often the rules for success are so simple and so obvious they aren't even seen. But when you search for them, you, too, can find them. And during the search something wonderful happens: you acquire knowledge...you gain experience...you become inspired. And then you begin to realize the necessary ingredients for success.
