I went to my brother's symphonic concert at ISU a couple weeks ago. I have a big appreciation for symphonic and instrumental music. Two of the pieces brought me to tears. The dissonance and emotion they put into the music was beautiful.
This isn't my brother...just a portrait of a clarinet player.

Self Portrait Shot!!
Here is another Image Brief I have entered into the Canon EOS Photo 5 Competition, the topic for this Brief was Inspired By Music. Being a songwriter and photography I got to Implement my two most adorable hobbies, giving the Image a Name, "The Inspiration's Within Me". This was my first ever attempt at a self portrait and let me tell you it's very very hard to get right, but many many shots later I got there and settled on this choice in a sepia tone to give more of a country feeling as I am a very proud country boy and love writing country ballads. It's always harder to be in front of the Camera lol, I always prefer to stand Behind and hit the button lol :) But anyway I thought I would give it ago and see how it went :)
Captured on the Brilliant Canon 7D.
Thank you so very much for viewing :)

COPPERHEAD ROAD MANDOLIN TAB : MANDOLIN TAB
COPPERHEAD ROAD MANDOLIN TAB : CELLO INSTRUMENTS.
Copperhead Road Mandolin Tab
- Copperhead Road is an American country music/country rock album released in 1988 by Steve Earle. Often referred to as Earle's "rock record", Earle himself calls it the world's first blend of heavy metal and bluegrass, while in their January 26, 1989 review of the album Rolling Stone suggested
- A mandolin (mandolino) is a musical instrument in the lute family (plucked, or strummed). It descends from the mandore, a soprano member of the lute family.
- A musical instrument resembling a lute, having paired metal strings plucked with a plectrum. It is played with a characteristic tremolo on long sustained notes
- A mandoline is a cooking utensil used for slicing and for cutting juliennes; with proper attachments, it can make crinkle-cuts. It consists of two parallel working surfaces, one of which can be adjusted in height.
- a stringed instrument related to the lute, usually played with a plectrum
- A similar piece of material forming part of a garment
- A strip or ring of metal attached to the top of a canned drink and pulled to open the can
- yellow journalism: sensationalist journalism
- A small flap or strip of material attached to or projecting from something, used to hold or manipulate it, or for identification and information
- check: the bill in a restaurant; "he asked the waiter for the check"
- tab key: the key on a typewriter or a word processor that causes a tabulation
127/365 - Copperhead Road
On my 1.5 mile walk to the playground here in Cary, NC, I noticed this snake on the pathway. I am SO squeamish around anything icky like this... bugs, snakes, spiders... they all make me squeal like a girl (ask my hubby!). I proceeded with caution and then after I passed it, called my hubby to ask him if it was a copperhead. I was pretty sure it was... diamond shaped head? check. Brown/black pattern? check. It was pretty small... maybe 14" long and I thought maybe it recently ate a little critter because it was so lumpy. ick ick ick!
So we go to playground, play on the swings for a while and head back home. On my way back, there's a woman and her kids looking at something on the side of the path where I saw the snake earlier. I thought for sure they were looking at the snake - and they were. Only this time, it was next to something that looked a lot like a big earthworm. She kept asking me if I knew what it was.... nope, sure don't. Don't snakes lay eggs? It has to be an earthworm right? When's the last time you saw an earthworm all squiggly like that?
So I get home and hop on google.... sure enough, it was a copperhead and copperheads do, in fact, birth live baby snakes! That was no earthworm, folks. It was a BABY SNAKE!!!!! I'm still grossed out by the whole thing, but kinda glad I had my camera! :-)
Ardent Studios
The unassuming facade of Ardent Studios hides the importance of one of Memphis's major contributions to the world of popular music. In its early years, the studio was responsible for much of the overflow capacity for the nearby Stax studio's many significant artists ranging from Isaac Hayes to the Staple Singers, a few Leon Russell albums, and the mixing of Led Zeppelin III. Around the time the studio moved to this building, it helped introduce the world to a band little known at the time called Big Star. After that, just about everyone followed. ZZ Top recorded every significant album here, artists from James Taylor to Steve Earle recorded their best-known works here, and musicians ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughan to R.E.M. also made well-known recordings here. Additionally, lesser albums from a who's who list of performers including the likes of B.B. King and Bob Dylan have come out of here as well. Unlike many Memphis musical landmarks, however, Ardent remains open and has attracted a diverse clientele ranging from the Academy Award-winning Three Six Mafia Hustle and Flow soundtrack to bands such as the White Stripes.

Mel Yamada
PR shots for my friend Mel who is a very talented Clarinetist and music instructor.
The challenge was to make the clarinet a sexy instrument. Unlike the violin or acoustic guitar, the clarinet lacks curves and sexy detailing. The solution was to shoot the instrument and musician as one, combining their sensuality. Mel did a great job posing and I'm fortunate my strobes recycled fast enough to catch candid laughs and emotions.
This was shot in my spare bedroom, which I've convereted into a studio.

At the Rethymnon Bus Station
As I play clarinet, I was talking with this Gypsy clarinetist and asked if I could take his photos. "Nai!" But suddenly, saying "Perimene", he scooped up the farmer from the Amari and said "Tora!".
Both seem totally unselfconscious. - but in quite different ways. The clarinetist is Tsingani and that is how he probably always approaches photos.(Note: his eyes are looking in two different directions.) The farmer is looking off, thinking, "Did I put that goat back in the pen before I left for town?"
