55 Broadway - London Underground HQ ground floor, south entrance, as built, 1929
A view looking through the south - north axis of 55 Broadway, the HQ buildings of London Underground (the Underground Group) when built in 1929. Designed by Adams, Holden & Pearson, 55 is one of the most significant buildings in London - this area was substantially reconstructed in the late 1980s and now has shop units flanking the corridor. Here you can see the lavish use of the austere travertine marble and the simple, clean aesthetics that Charles Holden developed for the building.
