ABRASIVE METERING VALVE

One reason the Cobras handle so well- see how the mass of the engine is between the wheels, not over the front wheels?

- oil line between oil cooler (below water radiator) and filter setup between water radiator ^ header.
- Engine coolant radiator, leaning back for more cooling in less height.
- Square tube structures bracing radiator
- Inner wheel arch - the body is the light gray bit, the rusty arc is a brake disk or hub. This is not a good angle to see the upper A arm or what it attaches to. The little black pigtail at about 2:00 on the arc may be a brake line. The rusty bit below that may be one of the front cross tubes.
- Oil filter and hoses, (near to viewer). The two hoses, left to right, are the peripheral return hose and the center supply to the filter. You can just see a hint of FRAM orange under the left most oil hose.
- Engine coolant header tank, above and ahead of the water pump, etc. All the belt-driven accessories are under this tank. Note pressure cap with drain tube for the relief valve, top hose from radiator, additional hose at back (small diameter)
- Oil filler/breather cap - a slip-fit over a pipe from the block/intake manifold
- Distributor - black plastic cap, black wires, the one wire coming forward and toward the viewer may be the secondary from the coil...
- Air cleaner. This is just the pleated paper filter, expanded metal cover to keep fingers out of the paper and big, soft, orange gaskets. Two planks of cast aluminum, the lower one with holes for the carb intakes. the upper one with holes for the threaded rod that the wing-nuts clamp on.(wing nuts and rods are missing in this photo)
- Carter carbureters. Note mechanical linkage between them (stiff wire). I believe the fuel line is on the other side. These are 4 barrel, each, one per cylinder.
- "Cobra Le Mans" cast aluminum valve covers
- black plastic oil fill plug - when I added oil, this is where it went
- 4 wire ignition 'loom', with 4 high voltage ignition wires leading from distributor to spark plugs
- little piece of cardboard from one spare parts box or other
- assorted electrical wires, instrument sensors, supply/return line for the heater
- firewall
