Snowy Night Cups These cups were the product of an lucky unrepeatable glaze accident. Believe me, I've tried to do it again, but it seems that the stars have to align just right to get these glazes to produce these little snowflake-like white crystals. I really love this set of four little blue cups. They have a flowing spiral to them created by a final fast "pull" on the clay while it was turning slowly on the wheel. They are glazed in a deep purple/blue, with a red glaze on top of it, giving them a deep red tone when you look at them under a light, and some of them got a pink blush rim. Where the glazes met they ran together and formed crystals and little waterfalls of color. They are stoneware and were fired to over 2000 degrees F. This small cups are just 3" by 3", and hold 6-7 oz. That's just right for two ice cubes and a 3 oz drink...I highly recommend trying a touch of Bailey's Irish Cream in one of them! Ware cart I purchased this ware cart from Bailey's. The shelves are 24"x32" which I cut from 1/2" structural plywood. I made the shelving behind the cart to fit the same ware shelves, so whole shelves of pots can easily be transferred from the cart (where they are placed after removing from the wheel). Design Like the Huntley, the Huntley Sport is based on the Range Rover, however this time being the 2006 Range Rover Sport, although slightly boxier. It boasts tinted glass and large alloy rims with low-profile tires. Inside, fit and finish is well, but you are surrounded by black and some materials look plain. Controls are up high and easy to reach with well placed knobs and switches. As stated before, the driver will like the roomy and supportive front seats, and the nice steering feel. The passengers get to enjoy a soft and steady ride that is well composed. The rear bench area is very cramped though, with minimal leg room that you would not expect from a large SUV. Performance The Huntley Sport, powered by a 4.8L Supercharged V8 coupled to a 5 speed gearbox in 50% front 50% rear all-wheel drive, is perhaps one of the fastest SUVs in GTA IV with a top speed of 180 mph. Acceleration is rated as very good, propelling the Huntley Sport to its brisk top speed in a matter of seconds. Handling is better than expected, though not perfect. The vehicle has a tendency to oversteer dramatically in turns, though can corner at speed effectively, apart from mild but noticeable understeer on sweeping turns. To compensate, the player should learn to powerslide with it, as it can be very easy. The suspension is rather soft, designed to compensate for off-roading, and a comfortable ride. Not racing. Braking is average, and ABS is standard on the Huntley Sport. Crash deformation is acceptable, but not as good as its closest competitor. Engine build quality is also acceptable, but cannot withstand many hits/bullets before failing Off-road, the Huntley Sport performs better than its low ground clearance and low profile tires suggest. The four-wheel-drive system and supercharged V8 make light work of steep sand hills, however the Huntley Sport tends to crash into the solid, low obstacles like rocks that other four-wheel-drives can drive over without issues this is due to the low ride height and the large and low front bumper. The Huntley Sport is rather good combat vehicle, with high maneuverability, reasonable speed and four seats. Also, the low-profile tires makes it a challenge for enemies to shoot and successfully hit them, with the bodykit complementing them. The windows, however are rather wide and endangers people inside the vehicle to gunfire. Overall, this is probably the second best vehicle that a player could use in any situation, after the Cavalcade, however Cavalcades are available in GTA IV, The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony multiplayer, while Huntley Sports are only available on TBOGT multiplayer. Cavalcades have better off-road capability when need be (due to the higher profile tires and ground clearance), and can take more damage. But then again, succesfully shooting the tires of a Huntley Sport can be much trickier as opposed to a Cavalcade Unique Colours: ¦ A black Huntley Sport, painted with a thin red stripe down the sides, can rarely be found driving around Liberty City. It is one of a range of paint jobs available on default Huntley Sports. This Huntley Sport color is also seen in the car chase at Out of Commission; however, this one cannot be obtained as after the cutscene where everyone gets out of the Cognoscenti - the Huntley Sport will disappear. ¦ After doing a boating trip with Brucie Kibbutz, an iridescent gold, bronze and beige Huntley Sport will be parked at the docks where you get out of the boat. ¦ A custom two-tone navy and sky blue Huntley Sport is one of vehicles needed for Stevie. After receiving the message it will be parked outside a police station at Bohan and will spawn there as long as player doesn't deliver it to Stevie's garage. ¦ A white-on-white Huntley Sport with a black line below the side windows can be obtained during Drug Wars in The Ballad of Gay Tony. End or start of 30 mile dirt road 1.5 miles north of this sign where the Cottonwood Creek/Paria River dirt road meets paved Utah highway 89, there a another dirt road that heads east for 10 miles to Wahweap Creek canyon and some marvelous white sandstone toadstools. The 30 miles of dirt road from Kodachrome SP to here was enough for the day, so the upper Wahweap toadstools will have to wait for another visit. I'm betting I make it there .... one day. CANNONVILLE TO HWY 89 - PARIA RIVER VALLEY Day one of this road trip was driving mostly interstate highways from my home in Eastern Washington to a rest stop off I-70 (Exit 86 at Fremont Junction, Utah), where I got a good night’s sleep. Day two was spent trolling the Burr Trail road for autumn photography opportunities, just east of Boulder Town, Utah. Later that day I met my hiking friend John, in Escalante, Utah where we made final plans for a day hike in the Escalante River Canyon country, the next day. Day three: John and I loaded our day packs into my old 4 X 4 pickup truck and drove to the Egypt trailhead early morning. We then took an enjoyable 10 mile round trip day hike down Fence Canyon, down the Escalante River, up Neon Canyon to the Golden Cathedral. Great hike. Day four John headed north to his home in Western Washington and I headed south to explore the country between Cannonville, Utah and highway 89. The road is 46 to 48 miles long, depending on which road sign you read. The first 18 miles from Cannonville to Kodachrome State Park are paved. The next 30 miles to highway 89 is dirt and four wheel drive, high clearance, is a good idea. It had rained in the area recently and the dirt section had lots of deep ruts and boulders washed out onto the route out of side canyons in many places. The scenery made the drive well worthwhile. After reaching highway 89, I made a quick stop to talk to the ranger at the Paria River rangers’ station then on to Kanab, north to Carmel Junction then the always scenic. Highway 9 into Zion National Park. I spent the entire afternoon taking short hikes in Zion NP and didn’t leave the park until the sun was gone. I then headed for home with a couple stops to get some sleep along the way. These photos are from day four of my trip. Lyric This is a vintage marquee sign from what used to be the Lyric movie theater in Lapeer. The theater was built in the 1920's and closed down in the 1970's. It at first only ran silent films of course, but in 1928 it began to run the new "talkies". From what I could gather, it became a mall of some sort. I found this in an antique store (Past Tense) /Cider Mill hanging above the doorway and I thought it was cool ....even though all the lights were out of it :) I have a few more of these vintage signs to post later on! I start off wearing all five unitards & dance to classic burlesque music as Richard peels off layers in succession. First the skin is taken off, revealing muscles; then the muscles are removed, showing the organs; organs give way to the circulatory system; in the end, I'm left wearing the bones. It worked really well. Originally, another cast member was going to paint some of these, as I was not confident enough of my artistic skills. But she didn't do them, so I ended up having to paint four costumes in the last three days before the show (I'd already finished the muscles earlier). Krystina helped a lot by borrowing an overhead projector and helping me chalk outlines for the organs, bones, & circulatory system from projected transparencies; muscles and skin were done freehand, as was the shading on the heart. I'm really quite amazed these costumes turned out as well as they did. New York producer Hal Willner, who has worked with artists such as Marianne Faithful and Lou Reed, enlists the support of eclectic progressives like guitarist Bill Frisell, keyboardist Bob Burger, and violinist Jenny Scheinman, along with harmonies from the Jayhawks' Gary Louris, to weave a subtly rich sonic tapestry. Much of the material was inspired by the death of Williams's beloved mother ("Mama You Sweet," "Fancy Funeral") and the bitter breakup of a relationship (the jagged-edged emasculation of "Come On," the repetitive incantation of "Wrap My Head Around That"), though "Are You Alright?," "Learning How to Live," and "Everything Has Changed" could reflect the aftermath of both. Other highlights include "Rescue," with a languid subtlety and ambient pulse reminiscent of Beth Orton, and the dreamy, wistful title track. The crank shaft of the 360 degree parallel twin was supported on only two main bearings and as more power was developed from the engine a noticeable flex could be measured using a dial gauge placed on the end of the shaft. More recently he has been involved in the development of a carbon-fibre monocoque designed superbike at Lotus Cars and an electric powered racing bike, the EV-0 RR, planned for an outing at the TTXGP Zero Emissions race at the Isle of Man TT in June 2009.
