BABY BOY EASTER SUITS. BABY AT 14 WEEKS. Baby Boy Easter Suits
I've got troubled thoughts and a self-esteem to match. [1/52] Happy Easter, everybody. I'm starting a 52 weeks! Though I'd love to do a 365 days but I know that I couldn't make it. I'm so busy most of the time! I think this suits me better. It's a strange day. Everybody's busy with their family. My mom is visiting her sister - she's away. And the only one who's here with me at home is my little baby boy - my cat - , who's been sleeping all day. I feel pretty alone today. Pretty lonely. So I had a walk to the lake just for the sake of doing anything. It's wonderful outside today. Warm and smooth. This is what came out. EASTER 2008 COLLAGE Instead of posting lots of photos I wanted to share the joy of our Easter at my daughter's house. The food was prepared by her and her friend and the rest are photos of Haley Grace and Emily coloring eggs. Easter memories. Please look at this in large size. Baby dont cry lyrics : Fairy baby room. Baby Dont Cry Lyrics
199/365 Step out the front door like a ghost into the fog Where no one notices the contrast of white on white And in between the moon and you the angels get a better view Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right I walk in the air between the rain through myself and back again Where? I dont know Maria says shes dying through the door I hear her crying Why? I dont know Round here we always stand up straight Round here something radiates Maria came from nashville with a suitcase in her hand She said shed like to meet a boy who looks like elvis She walks along the edge of where the ocean meets the land Just like shes walking on a wire in the circus She parks her car outside of my house Takes her clothes off Says shes close to understanding jesus She knows shes more than just a little misunderstood She has trouble acting normal when shes nervous Round here were carving out our names Round here we all look the same Round here we talk just like lions But we sacrifice like lambs Round here shes slipping through my hands Sleeping children better run like the wind Out of the lightning dream Mamas little baby better get herself in Out of the lightning She says its only in my head She says shhh I know its only in my head But the girl on car in the parking lot says man you should try to take a shot Cant you see my walls are crumbling? Then she looks up at the building and says shes thinking of jumping She says shes tired of life she must be tired of something Round here shes always on my mind Round here hey man got lots of time Round here were never sent to bed early And nobody makes us wait Round here we stay up very, very, very, very late I cant see nothing, nothing round here Catch me if Im falling. Round Here - Counting Crows I Want Lots of Clothes and Fuck loads of Diamonds. Poise 5 Application Pictures - Idra and Ridley. Lyrics - Lily Allen - The Fear. Listen and Love. Spent 2 days on these babies after procrastinating about them since Poise was put up. I have done... seriously... about eight sketches of different poses before settling on these. And YES they both have their hands in their pockets. The were going for the laid back look. Idra's app set is probably the most pleased I've ever been with application pics. AND HER HAIR IN HER HS DOESN'T MAKE ME WANT TO CRY!! Thank God!! Ridley has some serious Twilightish shit going on here... (probs the hair. Which does make me want to cry..) which I am far less than delighted about. IDK If I'll get in at all because the applications have been so amazing.. but I had to put in an app anyway. I'll be withdrawing the apps if Gypsy wins Poise 4... but I dont see that happening. Basically Ridley is a geeky and awkward nerd with a rather annoying stutter from Britain, and Idra is an obsessive compulsive sociopath with a schitzophernic alternate personality named Bubbles from Poland. Their full bio's about Donkey Kong, Slitting Throats, Cocaine and Youtube are up in the poise thread. You can also download them both there. TECH NOTES: Both Headshots edited from ingame. NYC - It's Time We MET: Bronze statue of Eros sleeping Title Bronze statue of Eros sleeping Medium; Technique Bronze Culture Greek or Roman Period Hellenistic or Augustan period Date 3rd century B.C.–early 1st century A.D. Dimensions length 33 9/16 in. (85.24 cm) Description The Hellenistic period introduced the accurate characterization of age, and young children enjoyed great favor, whether in mythological form, as baby Herakles or Eros, or in genre scenes, playing with each other or with pets. This child, with his plump body and relaxed pose, is clearly based on firsthand observation. Eros, god of love, has been brought down to earth and disarmed, a conception considerably different from that of the powerful, often cruel, and capricious being so often addressed in Archaic poetry. One of the few bronze statues to have survived from antiquity, this figure gives a sense of the immediacy and naturalistic detail that the medium of bronze made possible. The support on which the god rests is a modern addition, but the work originally had a separate base, most likely of stone. Mother and Child I have had this photo in my portable hard drive for two years and have always loved it, but was never able to process it in a way which made me like it and want to share it with others. This is the beauty of digital photography- saving all your non-keepers because later you may learn techniques that may save images with fantastic potential. I came up with 2 edits, not sure which I like better. 85. Kaori's Dad's Kimono Today I woke up thinking about Japan. I’ll start by telling you about my penpal Kaori who lives in Chiba, Japan. She and I became friends online and know each other very well. Several years ago her father was diagnosed with cancer, and Kaori told me she was folding senba zuru (1,000 cranes) for him. This is a Japanese tradition done either by or for a very sick person. After folding 1,000 origami cranes, you are supposed to be granted a wish, and that wish is for returned good health. I asked Kaori if it was OK if I helped her fold cranes. I was so far away, but I wanted to do something to show my support. She said there was nothing in the tradition that said I couldn’t and was pleased for the help. I learned how to make cranes and folded 500 for her father. (I wore holes through my thumbnails — that is a LOT of folding!) This is a truly beautiful tradition. With each fold, you are thinking of the person who is sick and wishing them well. The cranes are then sewn onto long strings and hung in the room where the sick person can see them. They’re made with beautiful, brightly colored papers and the end result is almost like a party favor. They are cheerful and happy, and proof that someone was thinking about you an awful lot. To me the most beautiful thing about them is that they are visible prayers. Of all the traditions I’ve learned of all around this world, this is by far my favorite. But I didn’t think at all about how this would affect Kaori’s Dad. I wanted him to be well because I love Kaori and wanted her to be happy. I felt kindness toward him because he was the father of my friend. I didn’t think at all that he had fought in a war against my country, or how he might feel about Americans because of what he’d lived through and what his family had lost. None of that ever entered my mind, because my thoughts of Japan were all happy ones. Kaori’s father was stunned that an American woman he’d never met would go to such trouble for him. It might have even taken him a while to wrap his mind around it. He began to ask about me when he talked to Kaori. He and Kaori’s Mom would ask that she pass on their greetings to me. They even learned a little English so they could write me a card. I was touched beyond words. It was a simple thing, but after realizing how he might have felt about America, seeing his handwriting in my own language was quite a gift indeed. And then later Kaori asked her Mom to send her an old kimono she had stored at home. Her Mom said she’d dig it out, but why did she want it? Kaori said she’d like to send it to Sarah, that it would be something really special. Kaori’s parents found the kimono she asked for, and her Mom wanted to give me the kimono she sewed to wear to her sister’s wedding. Then her Dad asked what the kimonos were for, and when he heard they were for me, he asked her to send his baby kimono to me as well. Her Dad’s kimono was the one he wore to be dedicated at the shrine, and is similar to a christening gown for Americans. It is a family heirloom, a treasure to be passed down from one generation to the next. Kaori’s Dad’s family had a lot of money before the war took it away, and his kimono is a splendid one. It would probably be quite a prize to a collector, but to me it is so much more. A man whose heart had frozen in one spot was melted almost accidentally by someone on the other side of the world, and I am now his family. Real life stories don’t have neat, perfect endings. Kaori’s Dad is healthy once again. Kaori’s daughter Anna came to live with us for a couple months one summer, making me feel even more that part of my family lives in Japan. Kaori and I went on to fold senba zuru for two other cancer patients, once for little girl we didn’t know and once for my friend Tami. Both of them are healthy again. If I were trying to teach anything here, it would probably be that sometimes, without even trying, we take care of each other in ways we aren’t even aware of. It’s a beautiful world. Baby's First Picture Here's our Baby's First Picture. She/He (Mom is hoping for a girl) will be a first great grand baby (Whoo hooo Grami) and a first grandbaby (Man Mom, Dad, Dana and Mike you guys are getting old). For some of you, it will be a first niece or nephew (Yeah! Go Nathan!) or great niece or nephew! She/He will also make a first Mommy and Daddy too. John will make a great Dad, but hes not too sure about having to carry him/her with a snuggle to classes. Lol. We are very excited about it all though . So everyone keep us in your prayers because we are gonna need it! Baby Mia My first newborn tryout shoot. Does anybody have any hints about newborns? I came up with some pictures that show her cuteness... she is just a really cute baby. But where do you get the difference between a snapshot of a cute baby, and a really good photo of a cute baby? Does that make sense? There are photographers here on flickr that do great newborn work. Is there a secret? Just practice? In the processing? The light? Boston Red Sox Baby Quilt My co-worker Courtney and her husband just welcomed twin girls and following in their parents footsteps, they will hopefully be big sports fans. So with a parent from Boston and a parent from the Bay Area these are the teams they chose and these are the quilts that I came up with. Here is my Boston Red Sox quilt. The B is designed and cross-stitched by myself. I made Fenway Park shaped funny because it is and added the green monster. My husband had fun helping me figure out the layout. (Meaning as a baseball player, he told me when I was getting it right and when I was off) Again, this is my design, similar to one that I made earlier this year for a baby who is a San Francisco Giants Fan. It was a pleasure and I know that little Charlotte will have fun with this quilt and have many hours spent watching baseball with her parents. Quilted Bed-Jacket,and off to see my little one dance! Lorelai's First Birthday Here's the 1:30 flickr version - and the uploader didn't distort it, mpeg4. My first selfish thought this morning was that this video makes me sad. I really enjoyed her first birthday but the year blew by. Sure it crawled in parts but looking back it's definitely gone. I feel like I'm kissing her goodbye all ready but before I do I'll make sure to grab every moment I can with her before the toddler in her takes my baby completely away. She was funny, and didn't sleep well. The part where she has the towel wrapped around her on the kitchen table is where she just woke up after a very short nap. You can see it in her eyes. We didn't do cake because we weren't sure if she'd ever sleep if we did. We figured we'd do that today. So she was sleepless but happy. Laura worked all week to give her the proper introduction to her second year and everything looked and tasted great. Lorelai got some great gifts from her loved ones and is still having fun with them. She's walking more and better here than she ever has, she actually surprised me. Will was Will. What I mean by that is at several points in the evening he just took off running down the long driveway and only looked to back to see how small we all were. He'd get far enough away Randy would go get him in the golf cart, so it almost looked like a chase scene. Will just kept running. As we opened presents he was strapped in the car watching a movie. I think Lorelai had a very nice first birthday. Back alley standoffs with a cat, stealing Rowe's puffs (sorry Rowe) and having family around to make her laugh. 1 Btw, please take a photo and share your diaper cake if you've learned a trick or two from me. I'd love to see your creation. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Remembering Srebrenica genocide In February 2007 the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concurred with the ICTY judgement that the atrocities committed at Srebrenica constituted a genocide, stating: The Court concludes that the acts committed at Srebrenica falling within Article II (a) and (b) of the Convention were committed with the specific intent to destroy in part the group of the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina as such; and accordingly that these were acts of genocide, committed by members of the VRS in and around Srebrenica from about 13 July 1995. The ICJ also ruled that Serbia "has violated the obligation to prevent genocide", and that Serbia was to cooperate fully with the ICTY including the transfer of individuals accused of genocide to the ICTY. Ratko Mladic accused by the ICTY still remains at large and is suspected of hiding in Serbia or in the entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina called Republic of Srpska. Although those killed were mostly men and teenage boys, the massacre also included instances where boys under 15, men over the age of 65, and reportedly also babies were killed. The Preliminary List of People Missing or Killed in Srebrenica compiled by the Bosnian Federal Commission of Missing Persons contains 8,372 names, of whom some 500 were under 18, and includes several dozen women and girls..[citation needed] As of July 2009, 6186 genocide victims have been identified through DNA analysis of body parts recovered from mass graves and 3,647 victims have been buried at the Memorial Centre of Potocari. from: wikipedia - Srebrenica_massacre filename: 03_09_26_0271_BosniaG Mia Amani | Sweet Smile She's already 11 days old. Time flies really fast. On Sunday, a midwife came to our house to check both Mommy and Mia. Alhamdulillah (Praise to God) they are doing just perfectly fine. Mia has gained some weights, about 300g from the past 10 days which shows that she's feeding well. Oh, she's also already been registered and has her own birth certificate. Her name is now officially MIA AMANI. Maybe next week, we are going to Malaysian embassy to register her as a Malaysian and also to make her passport because we are going back soon! DSC 4302.JPG Masks. 11/22/2004 - Monday: in Rome Roma, the Vatican, train to Florence Firenze tags: italy Monday Reality Left hotel a bit late...not too bad. Tried to get on the subway but there was a line up the stairs. We were going to take a bus, but then we got a cab. 10 euros to take a cab two metro stops...I sort of think that wasn't strictly kosher...but maybe it was. it was still fun. We got to go under a tunnel that we saw yesterday during our ordeal march of being lost. the idea was to catch the capucin crypts on the way to the vatican. But they were closed...still. so we slipped down back into the subway. We had used our single use tickets when we were turned back by the line at the Termini station, but we decided that the moral constraints were met, so we slipped through and re-used the tickets to get to the vatican. AFter all, we had gone through the gate, but we hadn't gotten on a train... so the train left at 4:48ish, maybe 4:47...basically right on time ... Off we rushed to the Vatican museum. We arrived at 10:00...and the english tour was at 10:30, so just enough time to get oriented and rest a bit before the ordeal by marbel floor! We had a nice tour guide. First she showed us a sort of parchement view of the sistine chapel-two rulls of text and pictures with details of the different scenes. She would wind it down to get the next view. This was fascinating...I am phenomenally underinformed of art and cultural matters...it is almost a cliche to say that, but egads it it true. on the other hand, there are things we know today that were unknown 200 years ago. Amazingly...apparantly the whole forum area was under dirt until 18-something. So much dirt that only the tops of the columns were exposed. and even now much remains. The archeologists cringe over the techniques used to clear what is now exposed. There have been several recent archeological 'campaigns' among the ruins of palatine hill that have excavated pre-roman huts. one of the write ups discussed the findings of 27 flakes of flint, indicating tool maing. So infering thngs based on bits of things found...which is the whole point of archeology. And it made me realize that they are not done excavating Rome Roma...an odd thing to realize, since only a moment's consideration would reveal how obvious that is! There are Indian mounds that the archeologists are intentionally leaving alone for now, with the expressed plan of letting future archeologists examine them when they have better techniques. my ears are popping...and the gps lost its lock...I then look out and realize we are going through a tunnel. ah...sense is made. maybe...perhaps it wasn't a tunnel...I can't tell. several more episodes of pressure changes are occuring. There are sliding head rests on the cabin walls in back of the seats. they are padded and have vertical supports so that you can lean on them to sleep without falling into the window, or onto your neighbor. they slide up and down to allow you to adjust to your preferences. We didn't see the capucini crypt, because it was closed, and it was getting dark as we got on the train, but we are doing pretty well. The vatican tour took two hours...and it seemed that we were moving much of the time. they have these slick radio receivors so you can hear the tour guide even if you are in the next room back. I had a strong response to a tapestry depicting the slaughter of the chilidren by herod. One baby is being held, barely, by its mother and a soldier has a dagger to the child's heart. The baby is about to die. Other mother's are using their bodies to shield their infants. it is truly horrible. damn! the pressure changes are really frequent, and amazingly annoying. I downloaded a bunch of stuff from 'hex'-a friend of Jo and Schuyler's. I'm reading how to build a reality that doesn't fall apart two days later...file:///Users/admin/wa/web/downlode.org/etext/how_to_build.html I'm on the train...fighting sleep. I need to pee, but to do that I worry I'll have to wake the gentleman seated in front of the door to our compartment. passing through orte...at 5:27:00---possibly even got a track point. I had a signal for a moment. well..more than a moment, but not too long. there is crying in the hall.... The GPS showed us going 115 mph, for a bit. not just one observation. interesting. fast. The hall of maps was cool because I realized it was, or could have been, not about art and instead was about the simple matter of managing an empire. I enjoyed the museum, duh, and the Sistine chapel...and then we climbed the dome! I loved that! I truly loved it. We got to the top and I could see radio vatican and the quiet parts of the vatican and various 'stuff.' I don't know why, but seeing vatican radio made me happy. We descended...heather waited while i ran about St. Peter's one more time. I went back into the catecombs...and reflected a Momordica balsamina L. [Day 205/365] I noticed these vines growing in my backyard/patio. I saw a few yellow flowers a while ago, and now there's these (sort-of) beautiful fruits. From afar, I thought they were flowers, but found that they were fruits. They're pretty, but they're invasive. The orange part is the capsule, and the red are the arils, which contain the seeds. The seeds are dispersed by birds, as they are attracted to the red arils. Well, as far as I can tell. I'm not sure if it would be considered a capsule fruit or not. It's not really dry, but not really fleshy either. It does open like a capsule, however. I guess I'll ask my Botany professor next week. Today, I'm going to study Organic Chem II and Calculus for Monday & Tuesday's finals. When I get sick of that, I'll work on Cell Bio quizzes and studying for Cell Bio and Botany finals. I'll probably get to sleep tonight by reading some of Darwin's "On the Origin of Species." (If it isn't obvious by now, I'm a nerd). Fun weekend, right?! :-/ I downloaded an app on my iPod called "Stanza" and it has access to many free classic works. I read "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" this week. I really liked it, even better than the Disney movie. It's pretty funny, and it doesn't have a tale about a walrus-like-man eating baby oysters like the movie does (that part always disturbed me as a child). I've downloaded Beowulf! I don't know why people always hate on Beowulf, I effing love it! My Dad didn't enjoy it when he was in school because he had to read it in Middle English (I don't blame him). Translated, it's a great read. I also dl'd Pride and Prejudice (just because I want to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies eventually), The Divine Comedy (I've read parts in a lit class), The Essence of Buddhism (I enjoyed going through my Dad's Zen phrases book when I was a kid), The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, The War of the Worlds (I haven't read this one yet, I just know of the story), and War and Peace (I was introduced to Tolstoy in an Art vs. Regimes class in spring). Those should keep me entertained over an entire month of winter break (!). Kissing Babies at the Piggly Wiggly “The charmingly eccentric and infinitely lovable characters from Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly are back…”(Louise Shaffer, author of The Ladies of Garrison Gardens) In Second Creek, Mississippi, Hale Dunbar is taking on the solidly entrenched mayor in the upcoming election. Hale may not have much political experience, but he has something better: he’s being backed by the Nitwitts—the town’s most influential and enjoyably eccentric posse of widows. As the campaign unfolds, everyone is about to discover what’s more important than coming in first—close friends, second chances, and true love. And of course, a good slogan. “The charmingly eccentric and infinitely lovable characters from Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly are back…”(Louise Shaffer, author of The Ladies of Garrison Gardens) In Second Creek, Mississippi, Hale Dunbar is taking on the solidly entrenched mayor in the upcoming election. (18) series "Making up the Numbers" Children swimming in the Barwon Darling river Brewarrina, NSW Australia's Aborigines are bouncing back. For the first time, the modern indigenous population outnumbers the estimated population at the time of white settlement. Unfortunately, the world into which this new Aboriginal generation is being born is sometimes difficult and often dysfunctional. The life expectancy for an indigenous child in Australia today is 17 years less than a non-indigenous child born alongside them. This is because the social landscape that modern Aborigines inhabit is a blighted one, worn out by multi-generational defeats, failures and neglect. In the cities and rural towns, where many were relocated by government policies of assimilation in the past century, and where others have moved in search of work, ghettoes abound. In regional and remote areas, where many have remained on and around the former religious missions and government reserves, basic services such as clean drinking water and sewerage are often unreliable. And as the 21st century dawned on Australia's bush and her outback, the drought has made a hard land even harder. The statistics are severe. The most comprehensive government report on the plight of Australia's Aborigines, Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage, found in 2007 that the median household weekly income of indigenous people has risen 10 per cent in a decade, to $340, compared with $618 for non-indigenous people. But in spite of more than $3 billion in annual federal spending on indigenous Australians, the imprisonment rate for indigenous women surged 34 per cent between 2002 and 2006. For men it increased 22 per cent. Indigenous imprisonment rates rose 32 per cent overall from 2000 to 2006 and are now 13 times higher than the rate for non-indigenous Australians. In health, indigenous infant mortality rates have improved, but are still two to three times the national average, while there has been no change in the numbers of low birth weight babies and hearing problems among children, which is in epidemic proportions in remote communities. And barely a week goes by in Australia without a fresh tale of child abuse and neglect in indigenous communities, a predicament that led the government of former Prime Minister John Howard to rush through a suite of draconian and controversial measures to make children safe in Northern Territory communities that became known as ``The Intervention''. But the desperate coincidence of an exploding population and imploding infrastructure is rarely as stark as it is in drought-ridden western New South Wales, where the birthrate among Aboriginal women is twice that of non-Aboriginal women, despite persistent high mortality rates and record rates of incarceration. For some young Aboriginal parents, issues such as alcoholism, unemployment and limited education are still barriers. 32 weeks..and #4 of the 52 weeks, b.c I forgot to do a pic for it... keeping up with my monthly silhouette pregnancy series I still feel pretty great going into my 8th month, I am super anxious at this point, more so because we do not know the sex!
