Forget the bad quality of colors and the heavy noise(I'm waiting for the IR filter): this is a sample of what resolution this system it' capable:
The large format lens projects an image on the scanner that is just like an A4 sheet. The sensor can cover the entire width, but cannot cover more than 6cm in height, so it's a "strip" from the entire image.
In a scanner normally the lens and the mirrors in front of the ccd makes possible to cover the entire height of the paper, but with this system the sensor scan just his real height, so the resulting image is "anamorphic". I have to resize it via software.
The hardware vertical resolution is 600dpi, but it's 1200 horizontal: If I scan at 600 dpi the resulting photo is 5100x5100 pixels, but if I choose 1200dpi only the horizontal resolution is real, the vertical is a 600dpi interpolated. the ratio of the anamorphic format is 5:1, so if I scan at 600 dpi i have to multiply the width x5, but if I scan at 1200dpi i can multiply only X 2.5, halfening the height.
So, 600x1200 dpi it's the maximum resolution, and the resulting horizontal density of the pixels is 2.5 times lower than vertical. (53 MP real, 133MP interpolated)
It's also possible to make multiple scans, covering the entire area: the resulting image can be over 500 MP)

Tralasciamo i colori strani e il forte rumore dellimmagine(sto aspettando che mi arrivi il filtro per bloccare gli infrarossi): questo e solo un esempio di quale risoluzione e capace questo sistema: La lente di grande formato proietta un immagine grande circa come un foglio A4.
Il sensore riesce a coprire l'intera larghezza ma non puo coprire piu di 6 cm in altezza, quindi questa e una "striscia" dell'intera immagine.
In uno scanner normalmente la lente e gli specchi davanti al sensore fanno in modo di coprire l'intera altezza del foglio ma con questo sistema il sensore puo scannerizzare solo la sua reale altezza, quindi l'immagine risultante e "anamorfica". Devo poi ridimensionarla via software.
La massima risoluzione verticale e 600dpi, ma arriva a 1200 orizzontali. Se scannerizzo a 600dpi la foto risultante e di 5100x5100 pixel, ma se scannerizzo a 1200dpi solo la risoluzione orizzontale e reale, mentre a verticale e sempre 600dpi, ma interpolata. Il rapporto di riduzione anamorfico e di 5:1 quindi in uno scan a 600dpi devo allargare l'immagine X5, ma se invece lavoro a 1200dpi posso permettermi di moltiplicare solo x2,5, dimezzando l'altezza.
Quindi 600x1200dpi e la massima risoluzione effettiva, e la densita dei pixel in larghezza e 2,5 volte inferiore che in altezza (53megapixel reali, 133 interpolati).
e possibile fare anche degli scan multipli per coprire l'intera area di proiezione, e l'immagine risultante puo superare i 500megapixel.

If you don't know what I'm talking about just read the description of the previous photo.
This is a crop from the photo of my 40"1080p monitor from 3 meters.

On the left you see the single pass 1200dpi scan:
On the right you can see a superimposition of three scans, each one filtered (via epson software) to scan one color channel at time.

The difference is clearly visible: the single pass mode doesn't separate the channels completely, so when I shift the channels in their correct positions, a shadows of the other channels ramains.

It's obvious that the one on the right takes three times longer to take.

PLEASE: If you know how to solve it PLEASE tell me how.
p.s. I can't program custom drivers on Linux.
