Would have, should have, could have- have become many opening phrases i used on. I would have, should have or even could have kick my own ass to get some work done over the weekend..but as usual, I did not. Well, instead i lie on the bed all day, watched 5 movies and have meals in my bed as well. My sister just called me unbelievably lazy because I was caught munching on a chocolate bar and drinking coke out of a straw while laying down on my bed, watching Crazy Hearts. That certainly tell you about my character.

Anyway.

Lucky for me, nature calls and i had to get out of my room to get to the washroom (or toilet as we called it here) just half an hour ago when I spotted the sun setting nicely for the day. Oh, if you have to know, my house is facing the west and I catches beautiful sunset some of the good days like today. :) It has been raining non stop every evening which inconvenience caused me to cancel my swimming sessions- Grr! I hate how my body works, not sure if it happens to you. The metabolism rate drops rapidly and the weight is gaining at the similar pattern.

"The Rocking-Horse Winner" is a short story by D. H. Lawrence. It was first published in July 1926 in Harper's Bazaar and subsequently appeared in the first volume of Lawrence's collected short stories. It was made into a film under the same title in 1950, directed by Anthony Pelissier and starring John Mills and Valerie Hobson.
The story describes a young middle-class Englishwoman who "had no luck". Though outwardly successful, she is haunted by a sense of failure; the family's lifestyle exceeds its income, and unspoken anxiety about money permeate the household. Her children, a son Paul and two younger sisters, sense this anxiety.
The rocking-horse magically gives Paul advance knowledge of the winners of important races such as the Ascot. After further winning, Paul and Oscar arrange to give the mother a gift of five thousand pounds, but the gift only lets her spend more. Disappointed, Paul tries harder than ever to be lucky, and we learn that his secret is to ride his rocking-horse until he "knows". As the Derby (presumably the Epsom Derby) approaches, Paul is determined to learn the winner.
Paul faints and remains ill through the day of the Derby. Informed by Cresswell, Bassett has placed Paul's bet on Malabar, at fourteen to one. When he is informed by Bassett that he now has 80,000 pounds (equivalent to 2006's 3 million pounds or 6 million U.S. dollars), Paul says to his mother:
"I never told you, mother, that if I can ride my horse, and get there, then I'm absolutely sure – oh absolutely! Mother, did I ever tell you? I am lucky!"
"No, you never did," said his mother.
But the boy died in the night.

Hubby had a quick lunch at that hamburger place which I refuse to mention and NEVER eat at myself and he came out with LOTS of toys because they had some left from an old batch. The rockstar has decided that he really wants a little sister so he?s saving these particular toys (since he started school there?s a lot of talk about girl toys and boy toys which I don?t appreciate - toys are toys in my eyes*) for her. He decided to keep the cool Bakugans for himself though.

I really don?t like company who?s giving away toys to kids just to get the parents to buy food there, home made organic food is the best way in my world. ;)

* Another thing about BOYS and GIRLS - here in Sweden there?s been a lot of talk about the clothing stores - they tend to separate boys and girls clothes instead of separating the sizes. Well. I?m for one don?t think that for example red pants on my boy is ugly, rather it would be quite nice if he?s wearing like a black t-shirt to it. What I mean is that I wouldn?t put on some VERY girly made pink and flowery shirt or pants, but to separate the clothes so that red, pink and purple are JUST for girls are truly pathetic.

(these days he?s big enough to help pick out his own clothes though, he LOVES red which is his favourite colour and there?s quite a lot of black in his wardrobe as well - which mummy likes... *LOL*)

There are six worlds: Haos, Ventus, Darkus, Subterra, Pyrus, and Aquus... I think. Okay, I looked them up, and the last one is Aquos. Still, that was pretty close.

51/365 Fun With Jenga

So today was definitely an exhausting day considering that my 11PM bedtime was implied yesterday. I got an extension for that day because it was the first day, but even still, the beginning of today was off to a bad start.

So I arrived at tutoring tired and my tutor allowed me to sleep. Awesome. I even had a dream about my family having a third kid and I dreaded it inside there. I like the way things are! Moving on. After that, I did a Reading and Science section and things started to go downhill. Typically, you do practice ACT tests in the a comfortable and quiet environment, right? Well like it is all of the time, there's always people talking and I can't even hear myself thinking inside my hand! It's ridiculous! So basically, I was going through the Reading and Science sections with all of this nonsense while trying to get a good score. In the end, I got a bad score.

Just as I had expected.

And after that, things got downhill. Not saying anything else, but just some bad remarks and criticisms.

Honestly, I'm thinking of taking a week of break time from tutoring so I can actually dedicate time to study those study guides and take an ACTUAL practice ACT test with no distractions.

So I left tutoring tired, depressed, but somewhat confident that the day was going to be ok. Arrived home, ate a nice dish of spaghetti prepared by my sister (thank you!), went on the computer to catch up on things, and did my P90X workout. Wasn't able to complete the second part of the workout due me being tired. After that, I ate a peanut butter and pickle sandwich, had some fun, took a shower to wash off all of the sweat, went to the garage to make sure that my parents didn't throw away my old stuffed toys, ate, looked for new t-shirts on threadless, played Jenga, took today's photo, and here I am with today's photo!

As far as the photo goes, I was playing Jenga with my sister and my friend and it had been a while ever since we played it. Brings back so many memories so I wanted to do it for today's photo. Really aimed for the vintage, aged look for the Jenga blocks because of their texture! Took this with the 50mm 1.8 (such a sharp lens) and processed this in Photoshop with a preset (can't remember) and modified it a little bit! Was going to add a vignette, but it didn't look right; didn't want to overprocess this!

Anyway, sorry for a lengthy description today. Wanted to vent my feelings out.
Dreading tomorrow. Full day of tutoring, noises, and frustration. Ugh.......

The Forgotten Doll

The old Lego blocks behind the doll were a present that I got for my first birthday. Probably the first lego blocks made. They were large in size and I played with them a lot. I guess my parents can't part with them for some reason.

My class have been learning about the Tudors and as part of the topic, today was Tudors Experience Day. We had a couple of people who came in to do some role plays and play some games from the Tudors period.

Ball and cup (or ball in a cup) was a traditional children's toy, consisting of a wooden cup with a handle, and a ball which is attached to a string, which is attached to the cup. It was a very popular game in Tudor and Victorian England.

I really like these illustrations:) On this card; Tudor and Georgian...By Letraset limited, London, England'...You rub tiny black transfers of furniture, people etc., onto the houses, groups of which suit the era of each house. Really neat:)

Look at the nice beach and toys for the little ones at Fairystone State Park near Stuart, Virginia

This is a really cool park and swimming place. It is off of Rt. 58 near Stuart, Virginia. I think it is the 2nd largest state park in Virginia. There is horseback riding, camping, canoeing, paddle boats, swimming, picnic area, pavilions for reunions (one of my family reunions is here in September) and lots of trails to walk. Great place for families!!

Those cars are my husband's collection when he was a little boy. Some of them are over 30 years old. My mother-in-law saved everything for our kids.

365 19 Wooden toys

Just after WW2 my Dad had a small carpentry business mostly making seasonal toys. Shrove Tuesday used to be the time children would play with whips and tops. You wind the string of the whip round the top then pull it away to leave the top spinning. The aim was to keep the top spinning as long as possible by whipping it. If Dad had a big order Mum and I would sometimes spend the evening tying knots in the end of the strings and threading then through the handles.
He made small dolls which would toddle down a slope too and some miniture pull along horses on wheels, shown in the picture.I really liked those and wish I still had mine now.

Toys in the little blue Box

While visiting my parents in Michigan my sister pulled out a bag and showed me these MINIX and Matchbox hidden in a small wooden box. Of course I wanted them but she claimed they are hers and has had them since we were kids in England, about 1964 / 65. I do remember these and of course I wanted them but she refused. So I decided the next best thing was to catalog them on here. Great piece of history thats for sure. I still think I should have them, I mean why does she need them.
