Virgin Beach - Karangasem, Bali
Pasir Putih is a five hundred metre long, crescent shaped beach, separated from the rest of the world by green headlands at each end and a steep cliff behind. On the beach are just half a dozen warungs put together from bamboo and palm fronds, serving cold drinks and food, and offering cushioned lounges under umbrellas for hire. At the far end of the beach is a group of traditional, red, blue, green and yellow striped, outrigger fishing boats.
On arrival at the beach, visitors can select a warung and negotiate a menu and time for lunch with the owners. Rather than selecting from the blackboard menu, ask the owners what they have available, as this is more likely to be fresh and in season.
Then it’s into the cool, crystal clear water for a swim. Sections of the bay near the headlands also offer great snorkelling.
After enjoying the ocean, have a soft drink or bintang, the local Bali beer, and watch freshly caught seafood, chicken or traditional Indonesian dishes prepared before you on a makeshift barbecue. Lunch will be served with rice and fresh salads on a white table cloth in the shade of your warung.
In the early afternoon watch as previously unseen local fishermen mysteriously materialise, launch their crafts into the water, unfurl colourful, triangular, curved sails and skim across the ocean, heading out to sea for the day’s catch.

- The shade serves the important function of blocking the glare from a light bulb and is usually the most decorative part of a lamp. The lamp shade can be made of glass, fabric, metal, or other more creative materials.

bamboo lamp shade
This beautiful bamboo and cocoa leaf floor lamp made in the Philippines will look great in any decor. The frame is constructed from wrought iron, making the lamp very strong and durable; then it is powder coated in order to ensure the longevity of its color. The legs of the fortune lamp are made of real bamboo, which have been hand stained to create contrast to the bold shade colors. This bamboo is bound and then tied to the wrought iron frame. Due to the nature of bamboo, at times it may split when it is first introduced into a new environment. For this reason, the bamboo on these lamps is always bound with twine. Splitting of the bamboo is extremely rare and this separation will not affect the strength, durability, or beauty of the lamp. This is one of the unique aspects of working with real, natural, materials. The lampshade is made of fossilized cocoa leaves. Fossilization is the process of drying leaves over a three to four month period and then hand rubbing the chlorophyll of the leaf so only the leaf's skeleton remains. This is a labor-intensive process and no corrosive chemicals are used. Once the chlorophyll is removed, the leaf is stained in organic dyes. Since the leaves are natural, each one will absorb dye differently. The resulting effect is a lamp with different hues and shades (sometimes within the same leaf). Once the leaf is stained, it is adhered to a heat resistant backing; similar to the backing found on any standard lamp. The artists cut each leaf to ensure that no leaf will overlap. Finally, a strong sealant is used to ensure the stability and integrity of the shade. Requires 4 light bulb (not included). compact fluorescent light bulbs are highly recommended. these bulbs will get nice and bright without the added heat of a standard incandescent bulb. Dimensions: 11 x 11 x 72 Due to the handmade quality of our items small variations in dimensions can exist.

Awning Lock
The Coil n' Wrap Awning Lock will prevent both the canopy from unrolling and the arms from coming open as you travel down the road. The #1 cause of insurance claims on RV's is awning damage. This is caused by the failure of the awning roller tube locking mechanism. Often this is due to vibration, wind or operator error. According to FMCA, wind will always win out over the friction lock that awnings employ. The lock is comprised of two parts, the Lock Assembly and the Roller Tube Stop. The enclosed template is to be used for accurate placement of the lock There are bolt holes pre-tapped into the back of the lock. The lock is bolted near the top of the awning arm. The Roller Tube Stop screws into the roller tube assembly. The machine tooled lock assembly has a pin going thru the middle. The pin has a groove cut into it. The lock assembly has a spring loaded plunger inside that slips into the groove when the pin is pushed in, preventing the pin from coming open when travelling down the road. To open and close the lock, you simply tap the pin with your awning wand. This superior made Awning Lock is simple to install and simple to use. Using an awning lock will give you added peace of mind as you travel safely down the road. The package comes complete with full instructions and all parts including two drill bits, a metal center punch, screws and the necessary parts to install the Awning Lock. You open and close the lock using your awning wand. There is a groove in the rod and a spring loaded plunger in the metal block. When the lock is closed the plunger drops into the groove preventing the lock from opening while you are traveling down the road. Only one lock is required for an awning and will eliminate the need for Velcro straps or ball bungies to secure the awning. The lock fits Carefree & A& E awnings, with the exception of the A& E 2 Step.

PANTILINERS 101 Q: What is a pantiliner? A: A pantiliner is a product designed to give you a way to feel cleaner, fresher, and drier any time of the month and any time of the day or night. A pantiliner is thinner and generally smaller in size than a full size feminine napkin (pad). Pantiliners are great to wear as backup protection when you have your period and are using a tampon. They are also great for absorbing wetness and protecting your panties from normal discharge, perspiration, small leaks of urine, and unexpected menstrual flow. Q: How do pantiliners work? A: Pantiliners are placed in the crotch of your panties and secured to the fabric with adhesive (sticky stuff). Pantiliners usually have three layers: a top layer, a thin absorbent layer, and a back layer. The top layer allows moisture to be pulled into the absorbent layer away from your skin. The back layer helps keep moisture inside the pantiliner, away from your underwear. Q: How do pantiliners differ from pads and tampons? A: Pantiliners and pads (also called feminine napkins) are worn outside the body. They are attached to your underwear and absorb fluid after it leaves your body. Tampons are worn internally and are inserted into the vagina. They absorb fluid before it leaves the body. Op Shades, 1960s
These fabulous shades were made in Argentina in the 1960s in the Pop OP mood. Very similar models were adopted by the Punk and New Wave youngsters in the late 70s and early 80s. It is made of Cellulose Acetate. The checkerboard pattern is not printed: it was obtained by a laminating process, pressing, cutting and pressing again layers of black and white plastic. The frame was them cut by hand. Unfortunately, like so many Cellulose Acetate frames, this one is in a process of degradation (the darker areas in the middle) due to the acidity of human skin, and may not survive long.
Cool shades
In a county like Spain, you need a decent pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. Whilst you are at it, your glasses can also make a statement about you.
Here we have our neighbour’s daughter Eladia with her boyfriend Joaquin sporting some very chic designer shades.
Eladia was reluctant to have her photo taken, why? She has a beautiful face, a relaxed smile and a wonderful personality to match. Oh, and she happens to also speak perfect English.

It is surmised that the idea of sunglasses took birth from the Roman Emperor Nero who liked to watch gladiator fights through emeralds and rubies. But the modern sunglasses took shape only in the 1940s where the movie pop fraternity has had a huge contribution in making them so popular. Today, sunglasses are available in all perceivable colors, with hundreds of rim and frame styles and protective enhancements.
The most popular classic style of sunglasses is the aviator. They have oval pear-shaped lenses that narrow towards the bridge of the nose. Early movies have stars flaunting their aviators with style. This style is still largely popular; despite the entry of polarized lenses, sports eyewear, wraparounds and clip-ons.
Polarized sunglasses provide protection from severe solar glares from water and snow surfaces, beaches, and roads. They use the light polarization technology mastered by Edwin H. Land in 1936.
People who want to discard their spectacles for something trendier without compromising on their visual quality opt for prescriptive sunglasses. Sportspeople wear a different type of polarized sunglasses that are mirrored on the outside that reflect light of different colors.

Haven in a Hurricane
Originally published in the Sept. 30, 2010 edition of the Packet.
--
Birt Passingham looks out the window of the Port Rexton Volunteer Fire Department, wondering how the hurricane didn't sweep away the horses in a nearby field.
Munching on a slice of apricot loaf, discussing the latest news with department members, he looks pretty comfortable for a stranded traveller living out of his car trunk.
Birt and his wife Cathy were vacationing in Newfoundland from Sarnia, Ontario, touring the island since Sept. 10.
Their trip took an extraordinary turn when Igor hit, as they were driving towards Clarenville from Bonavista on Route 235.
"We headed down not realizing how bad it was going to get," said Cathy, recounting how rain was coming from all directions Tuesday morning. "The further we went, the worse it got."
To avoid flooded sections — a few feet deep, according to Birt — they changed course onto Route 230. The couple stopped in Port Rexton when the weather turned too dire to drive on.
Tim and Doris Hatter of Bayswater, Nova Scotia, were also traveling through in the area when the hurricane struck.
Igor left the Hatters stranded in Catalina for two days. With the roads to Clarenville and beyond closed, they too were stuck in Port Rexton, seeking refuge at the town's volunteer fire department.
At first, the Passinghams were afraid.
"Not knowing what's coming next... it's scary," says Cathy.
Nothing could prepare the Hatters for the coming days.
"We had no expectations," said Tim. "We didn't know what we were going to get."
But what they found was what Cathy calls a "gentle community."
Local residents donated toiletries and did their laundry. They fed them hot meals and offered hot showers.
For the first couple nights, someone remained at the hall to watch over them.
Another night, the department hosted a kitchen party, complete with accordions, turkey dinners and screech-in ceremonies.
The Passinghams and Hatters are not only touched by Port Rexton's charity, but also impressed by how a volunteer department can serve the surrounding communities in such extreme circumstances.
"The coordination here is unbelievable. You're not going to get this in a big city," says Tim on how efficiently and constantly supplies and medicines were delivered.
"Some of these people have been running all hours of the night, trying to help everybody out," adds Dorothy.
Though the Hatters are amazed at the commitment of the Port Rexton's volunteers, anything less than "above and beyond" is not an option.
"We're there to serve and protect. That's what the fire department is and that's what we're trying to do," says member Christine Hiscock, who spent the past week delivering food and medicine to nearby communities.
The stranded couples have been helping as best they can by washing dishes and sweeping floors, "but we can never pay them back for what they've done for us," says Birt of the new friends they've met.
When Tim looks back, he says he'll remember most the "cooperation, people and new friends that we've made."
"They've taken us in like family. They opened their arms and accepted us," says Cathy, with tears in her eyes.
On Saturday it looked as if it would be their last night in Port Rexton, as the roads to Clarenville were expected to be passable the next morning.
Are they looking forward to going home?
"We are home," Tim says. "We're going back to our second home."
Hurricane
Hurricane Mk XIIa 5711 (G-HURI) was built in 1942 by the Canadian Car Foundry as part of their sixth production batch and it joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. It is believed to have served with 123 Squadron at Debert before going to 127 and 129 Squadrons at Dartmouth and onto 1 Operational Training Unit at Bagotville.
Struck of charge from the RCAF in 1947 it was purchased by a syndicate in Saskatchewan. It was restored by Paul Mercer in 1985 and made its first post-restoration flight in 1989. Historic Aircraft Collection acquired the Hurricane in 2002; it is still based at Duxford where it is the perfect stablemate for HAC's Spitfire Mk.Vb.
After undergoing an 18 month extensive programme of repairs and maintenance the Hurricane reappeared in an entirely new paint scheme for 2004. G-HURI now flies as 'Z5140' with the code letters HA-C and is in a paint scheme that was worn by a Gloster-built Hurricane IIB, flown with 126 Squadron during the siege of Malta. Z5140 arrived at Malta on June 6th, 1941 during Operation Rocket, having flown off HMS Ark Royal. Whilst it would be expected that the aircraft would be in a tropical paint finish, the Malta squadrons were desperate to receive any aircraft regardless of colour and the first ones were kept in the familiar "Battle of Britain" green and brown scheme.
In September 2005 Hurricane “Z5140” became the first Hurricane to return to the Mediterranean island of Malta since the Second World War. It flew there together with Spitfire BM597 as part of the Merlins Over Malta project.
Hurricane Mk XIIa G-HURI is on permanent display in Hangar 4 at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford.

Showing some lighting
The pot rack will either be moved (turned the other way) or taken out altogether. The light fixture hanging over the sink has since been replaced with a black cloth-covered cord style with polished nickel socket and canopy and a white glass cone shade. Both fixtures are from Rejuvenation House Parts (or all 3 I should say). The under-cab lights are Seagull linear lights and since this pic was taken some wooden lightrails were installed to hide the lights there. There is also now an integrated wood panel on the front of the dishwasher.
Midnight sparkle multi-strand beaded necklace
This beautiful, 22" inch, multi-strand beaded necklace is made of a mix of glass seed beads, bi-cones, ovals, and smooth round beads in dreamy shades of midnight blues, cobalt blues, with a dash of sea-foam colored beads. Mastering Light & Shade in Watercolor: Infuse Your Paintings with Luminosity and Dramatic Contrast
Few painters realize that in order to give their paintings a luminous glow they must also manipulate the darks. Ong Kim Seng is a master of this method and in this book se shows readers exactly how to do it. He does so with a stimulating, logical progression of lessons that begins with materials and finishes with the complete planning of a light-filled composition. Readers will learn to use color to intensify light, devise areas of color contrast and discover the best methods for using tonal values to capture light in a dramatic, evocative way. Kim Seng also illustrates the important role that shadows play in creating luminosity. He shows how to mix the color of shadows and suggests alternate approaches for different paintings. Multiple step-by-step demonstrations, examples, ideas, inspiring storytelling and a gallery of gorgeous paintings cap off this exceptional book. Ong Kim Seng was the first Asian to become a member of the America Watercolor Society and, after winning six AWS awards, is now an elected Dolphin Fellow. He is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society of the U.S. and life president of the Singapore Watercolor Society. He lives in Singapore.

Art Nouveau / Jugendstil in Darmstadt - Wedding-Tower / Hochzeitsturm

Sandy Beach Sunglasses
Island Origins In the early 1980s, a small company began selling sunglasses on the beautiful beaches of Maui, Hawaii. However, the sunglasses quickly proved to be no match for the Hawaiian sun's severe glare and harmful ultraviolet rays. Everyone wanted sunglasses that would eliminate glare without distorting the beautiful colors of the island scenery. Since no other sunglasses on the market could meet this specialized need, the company developed their own. With an original line of seven sunglass styles and PolarizedPlus technology, Maui Jim was born. In fact, PolarizedPlus was so unique that it was soon patented. Now with over 50 styles, Maui Jim, Inc. is the fastest growing polarized sunglass maker in the world. Best of all, sun-lovers can browse the fantastic styles online at boatersworld.com! Sandy Beach Park is a popular surf spot located on Oahu's south shore, and is known for its fierce, unrelenting waves. Expert body surfers and boogie boarders find the waves to be the ultimate challenge due to the dangerous shore breaks and strong currents. Whether you are watching the locals compete or simply beachcombing on a calm day, these 8-base shades will provide your eyes with total UV ray and glare protection. With their lightweight rimless frame, rubber nose pads and Rubberon temple tips, they will prove to be a comfortable, yet durable choice for any activity. (Frame Patent Pending)

{Day 016} Stunna Shades
Again, I wasn't feeling terribly creative tonight. I had school, then work, then ballet class today, so I'm a wee bit tired. I look gross, but I frankly don't care, lol. So this is me wearing my new "stunna shades." Living here in Northern California aka "NorCal," you eventually pick up the lingo- whether you like it or not. Here, sunglasses are affectionately reffered to as "stunna shades." And the saying associated with the term is "Put yo stunna shades on!" Thusly, I have 'em on.
Stunna shades.

Getting Better; Day Eight. As in Heaven, So on Earth
From "The Living Bible":
Psalm 30
I will praise you Lord, For you have saved me from my enemies.
You refuse to let them triumph over me.
Oh Lord my God, I pleaded with you, and you gave me my health again.
I was awaiting Day Eight in anticipation. I `felt` something was going to happen.
I had some very strange dreams where I was trying to escape rooms with metel doors like as in abatoirs.
I woke up feeling a great `change` which is difficult to explain. Suffice to say I woke up feeling better, much better after a few days of feeling most exhausted. I even found a spring in my step this morning as I bounced along walking which I havent done for a long time.
I decided to get out my Wizards ceremonial robes for this photo, they weigh a ton. I thought of the Tarot. The Tarot have served me well for many many years and I thankfully, have been able to help probably, thousands of people over the years.
My friend Sandy as well as others have said that whenever they turn the cards and the Magician comes out in a spread then it represents me. Humility stops me from agreeing but on this occasion here I am with a tribute to the Magician and the Tarot.
Usually with the magician the sign of infinity (and eight on its side) is above the magicians head. I have leo rising in my chart and I should have been a leo (eighth month and birthsign) but I sprang from the womb early!!
I thank the powerful guides and Magicians and Wizards of long ago for helping me to get well .
The part from Psalm 30 is one of those things when you simply open a book and read what you see first. As it happens, it happened to be the Bible.
Well, it has answered my prayers.
Thought for Today:
Always believe that your prayers will be answered.
Whatever religion you happen to be, choose or believe to be right for you: Know that you always have answers to your prayers. Maybe not always what you want but what you Need.
Feeling well today and Empowered: Love Your Ed oxo
Mummy's dupattofolds through single layer b&w
This is once again my mother's stole on the clothes' line. It is shot through one layer, and the overlaps and folds seen are part of the other layer behind the front layer. I waited for the wind so that i could get the dynamic effect of motion and the slanting lines. - This is simply a b and w treatment to the coloured original.

Wordsworth House, Cockermouth.
Wordsworth House, Main St, Cockermouth, Cumbria, England.
Sir Nikolaus Pevsner described in his book 'The Buildings of England - Cumberland and Westmorland' Wordsworth House as 'quite a swagger house for such a town'. It was built in 1745 for the then High Sheriff of Cumberland, Joshua Lucock. In 1761 Sir James Lowther, son of Sir John Lowther who built Whitehaven and its port, bought the property.
"William Wordsworth was born on 7 April 1770 in a fine Georgian house in Cockermouth, now called Wordsworth House. His father John was estate agent to Sir James Lowther, who owned the house. The garden at the back, with the River Derwent flowing past, was a place of magic and adventure for the young William.
William has an elder brother Richard, a younger sister Dorothy and two younger brothers John and Christopher"

shutters for houses
The award-winning designer and author of Rooms showcases inspiring opportunities for the exteriors, interiors, and details of houses in this lavishly photographed book Celebrated designer Mariette Himes Gomez believes that a house becomes a home only when it is infused with personal touches, when its individual parts flow together logically, and when it assumes a warm and welcoming character. In Houses, Gomez begins by inviting readers to consider the many elements that unify a house. She reveals how each detail—from the doors, fireplaces, and staircase, to the more conceptual elements of balance, color, and movement—contribute to the home's overall aesthetic, and how each can be combined to create a certain effect. She provides practical guidelines for building, buying, or renovating to create the perfect home, while illustrating how to instill flow and harmony in your overall design. Subscribing to the philosophy that less is more, Gomez reveals how to create homes of unparalleled beauty and grace. Complementing Gomez's invaluable advice are stunning photographs of the interiors, exteriors, and details of breathtaking houses in a variety of gorgeous settings. An inspirational guide for every design-minded home buyer, builder, or renovator, Houses illuminates the world of possibility that opens up when you create your own home.

A Text, in english, from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Paragliding is a recreational and competitive flying sport. A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing.
n 1954, Walter Neumark predicted (in an article in Flight magazine) a time when a glider pilot would be “able to launch himself by running over the edge of a cliff or down a slope … whether on a rock-climbing holiday in Skye or ski-ing in the Alps”.[1]
In 1961, the French engineer Pierre Lemoigne produced improved parachute designs which led to the Para-Commander (‘PC’), which had cut-outs at the rear and sides which enabled it to be towed into the air and steered – leading to parasailing/parascending.
Sometimes credited with the greatest development in parachutes since Leonardo da Vinci, the American Domina Jalbert invented in 1964 the Parafoil which had sectioned cells in an aerofoil shape; an open leading edge and a closed trailing edge, inflated by passage through the air – the ram-air design.[2]
Meanwhile, David Barish was developing the Sail Wing for recovery of NASA space capsules – “slope soaring was a way of testing out … the Sail Wing”.[3] After tests on Hunter Mountain, New York in September 1965, he went on to promote ‘slope soaring’ as a summer activity for ski resorts (apparently without great success).[4] NASA originated the term ‘paraglider’ in the early 1960’s, and ‘paragliding’ was first used in the early 1970’s to describe foot-launching of gliding parachutes.
Author Walter Neumark wrote Operating Procedures for Ascending Parachutes, and he and a group of enthusiasts with a passion for tow-launching ‘PCs’ and ram-air parachutes eventually broke away from the British Parachute Association to form the British Association of Parascending Clubs (BAPC) in 1973.
These threads were pulled together in June 1978 by three friends Jean-Claude Betemps, Andre Bohn and Gerard Bosson from Mieussy Haute-Savoie, France. After inspiration from an article on ‘slope soaring’ in the Parachute Manual magazine by parachutist & publisher Dan Poynter,[5] they calculated that on a suitable slope, a ‘square’ ram-air parachute could be inflated by running down the slope; Betemps launched from Pointe du Pertuiset, Mieussy, and flew 100 m. Bohn followed him and glided down to the football pitch in the valley 1000 metres below.[6] ‘Parapente’ (pente being French for slope) was born.
Through the 1980’s and since, it has been a story of constantly improving equipment and ever greater numbers of paragliding pilots. The first World Championship was held in Kossen, Austria in 1989.
he paraglider wing or canopy is known in aeronautical engineering as a ram-air airfoil, or parafoil. Such wings comprise two layers of fabric which are connected to internal supporting material in such a way as to form a row of cells. By leaving most of the cells open only at the leading edge, incoming air (ram-air pressure) keeps the wing inflated, thus maintaining its shape. When inflated, the wing's cross-section has the typical teardrop aerofoil shape.
The pilot is supported underneath the wing by a network of lines. The lines are gathered into two sets as left and right risers. The risers collect the lines in rows from front to back in either 3 or 4 rows. The risers are connected to the pilot's harness by two carabiners.
Paraglider wings typically have an area of 20-35 m? with a span of 8–12 m, and weigh 3–7 kg. Combined weight of wing, harness, reserve, instruments, helmet, etc. is around 12–18 kg.
The glide ratio of paragliders ranges from 8:1 for recreational wings, to about 11:1 for modern competition models. For comparison, a typical skydiving parachute will achieve about 3:1 glide. A hang glider will achieve about 15:1 glide. An idling (gliding) Cessna 152 will achieve 9:1. Some sailplanes can achieve a glide ratio of up to 60:1.
The speed range of paragliders is typically 20–50 km/h (12-30 mph), from stall speed to maximum speed. Beginner wings will be in the lower part of this range, high-performance wings in the upper part of the range. The range for safe flying will be somewhat smaller.
Modern paraglider wings are made of high-performance non-porous fabrics such as Porcher Sport & Gelvenor, with Dyneema/Spectra or Kevlar/Aramid lines.
For storage and carrying, the wing is usually folded into a rucksack (bag), which can then be stowed in a large backpack along with the harness. For pilots who may not want the added weight or fuss of a backpack, the harness itself can be used to carry the wing, though this is less comfortable, and thus less favorable for longer hikes. In this case the wing (within the rucksack) is buckled into the harness seat, which is then slung over the shoulders. Recent developments in light-weight harness desig

ROMA. Rome / Roma. Roman Forum / Foro Romano
ENG (Rome during the 9th century) “Rome was not what I imagined. I had fantasized with a shiny city, paved with gold and marble, with hundreds of basilicas rising up to the sky in a blinding testimony of the existence of the real Civitas Dei, a city of God upon earth. The reality ended up being very different. Large, dirty, over-populated, Rome, with its narrow and crooked little streets, seemed bred rather in hell than in heaven. Its monuments (those which had not been converted into Christian churches) were in ruins. Temples, amphitheatres, palaces and thermal baths had been stripped of their gold and silver and left to the mercy of the elements. The ivy climbed the columns’ joints; the jasmine and the Acanthus plant grew roots in the cracks on the walls; pigs, goats and large-horned oxen grazed in the ruined porticos. There were statues of emperors lying on the earth; the empty sarcophagus of heroes used as vats, tanks, or pig pens.
It was a city of apparently irreconcilable contradictions: the world’s marvel and a place dirty and decadent; a centre of peregrination Christian followers, where the best art pays tribute pagan gods; a centre of books and wisdom, whose people lived in ignorance and superstition.
Despite these contradictions, or maybe because of them, Joanne loved Rome. Its streets’ constant hassle excited her. The furthest corners of the world converged in those busy passages: Romans, Lombardi, Germanos, Byzantines and Muslims would gather in a mixture of clothes and languages. Past and present, Paganism and Christianism, intertwined in a rich tapestry. The world’s best and worst were contained within those ancient walls.” – Pope Joan, Donna W. Cross
I've explained this in German. It's also very special for the geographic area, but can be fit to other circumstances.
I don't know whether there have been similar ideas but I guess it might give some answers to some problems we're facing and might give new hints for other unresolved problems of humanity.
Do you have questions? Do you have ideas? Do you have friends, who might thank you for forwarding?
Update 1: Question from a friend:
"Biomimetik finde ich einen au?erst spannenden Ansatz mit sehr viel Potential!
Konntest du deine Grund-Idee vielleicht noch mal ganz kurz in 2-3 Satzen zusammenfassen?
Nur damit es da keine Missverstandnisse gibt bzw wir genau wissen aus welchem Blinkwinkel du das Ganze bisher angegangen bist. "
Answer: My point of view: As a society and species we do stand in front of a few existential problems. How can we solve them ASAP? This is not about single individuals or nations; this is about much more. This is about more than our species even! I would be very honored to be part of a team or movement to effectively solve this problem in the same way I'm very happy about having (had) the opportunity of participating in OpenStreetMap.
On a national level I would reframe the original question a bit: It used to be "Do we have to be precurser in this transition to sustainability?"
Now it sounds more sexy and noble: "May we have the privilege of leading our society in the transition to sustainability?"
With this motivation in mind I suppose (and experience) that so many things make a lot more fun while at the same time achieving so much more! Can you follow? Do you have questions?
There are massive power interests involved that are blocking humanity from going the right way with the matched decidedness. "They" are not blind, they are not evil. We do not want to remove their power, we just want them to not stand in the way. This is not about revolution, this is about existence! Can we transform our species to live symbiotic on this planet?

Edward VII
Edward VII had Royal associations from the start. When Charles Thurston took delivery from the Thetford firm of Charles Burrell in 1905, it was for use with his bioscope (early 'movies') show - which he called 'The Original Royal Show'. Then in 1920 when George Cushing saw both this engine and 'Victory' working together at the King's Lynn Mart, the two were providing the power for Thurston's new 'Golden Dragon Scenic' merry-go-round. The first ride of which was graced by HRH the Princess Victoria.
This magnificent 20-ton, 8hp giant had been specially adapted as a full 'Scenic' when she appeared at the 1920 Mart, with an additional generator added to drive the new, big electric rides.
This is part of the Thursford Collection in Norfolk.

For thousands of years, Ayurvedic physicians in India and healing traditions in many other parts of the world have prescribed simple but effective steam therapy treatments as part of a regular detox program to prevent the build-up of toxins and prevent disease. And over the past twelve years, thousands of Steamy Wonders have been sold in many countries due to the increasing interest in preventing disease before it arises, rather than waiting for toxins to build up and create disease. The choice is to spend less time and money now to easily prevent disease, or a lot more time and money later to cure that which was not prevented. This is done by adjusting one's lifestyle to be more in harmony with Nature, and regular effective detox measures (a lot more fun and pleasant than most curative measures!). The Steamy Wonder increases the core temperature of the body, which automatically induces the detoxification process deeply but gently, toxins coming out on a cellular level from every organ of the body through the sweat. The benefits to the client are that light refreshed feeling, and elimination of toxins that cause aging and disease. Over 270 published research studies have shown the manifold benefits of steam treatments. The Steamy Wonder has been so popular for four basic reasons: 1. It is so simple and easy to use, a natural piece of equipment. It weighs only five pounds, sets up in a minute, can be moved around easily, and folds into a duffel-size parcel for travel or storage. Your client enjoys the luxury of not having to leave the table. 2. The Steamy Wonder is very versatile. It can replace most body wrapping, being more effective at detox, and involving far less work, time, and clean-up. And, it enhances virtually every spa and massage treatment by opening the pores, as well as often increasing your per/hour income significantly. Twenty minutes less work, $15-25 more per hour, a fun treatment, and a beaut
