Vintage Wheels Somerset
- Somerset ( or ) is a county in South West England. The county town of Somerset is Taunton, which is in the south of the county.

WSRA Rally 2011 - 1963 LWB Series IIA Land Rover - CYD 657 A
Over the weekend of 6th and 7th August 2011 the West Somerset Railway Association has been holding its Steam Fayre and Vintage Vehicle Rally near Norton Fitzwarren in Somerset. There were a wide range of types of vehicles present and indeed there was so much to see that it was impossible to see everything in one day.
One make of vehicle that was represented was the Land Rover. This iconic vehicle was introduced in 1948 and has slowly developed over the last 63 years. The original model became known as the Series I and remained in production until 1958 when the Series II was introduced. The Series II remained in production until 1961 when the Series IIA was introduced.
This photograph shows the long wheel base 1963 Series IIA Station Wagon, CYD 657 A, owned by Mr M Barnett of Tiverton, Devon. This vehicle was purchased by the current owner in 1993 and was in daily use until 1999. It was fitted with a new Chassis in 2004 and restoration is ongoing.
WSRA Rally 2011 - Ex Military 1941 GMC CCKW 352 - 535 YUD

Among the many classes of vehicle present there were a large number of ex-military vehicles from different periods.
This picture shows the 1941 GMC CCKW 352, 535 YUD, owned by Mr T Batchelor from Crewkerne, Somerset. This particular vehicle saw service in Europe after D Day with the 82nd Airborne Division. It has been restored to original condition.
The GMC CCKW 352 is a 2.5 ton 6x6 lorry. It was built in long and short-wheelbase versions and the vehicle shown here is a short-wheel base version.
