Pressurised Pond Filter

pressurised pond filter

  • Produce or maintain raised pressure artificially in (a gas or its container)

  • (Pressurisation) Pressurization is the application of pressure in a given situation or environment; and more specifically refers to the process by which atmospheric pressure is maintained in an isolated or semi-isolated atmospheric environment (for instance, in an aircraft, or whilst scuba diving).

  • (Pressurisation) A method of protecting escape routes against the ingress of smoke by maintaining the air within them at pressures higher than those in adjacent parts of the building.

  • Maintain a tolerable atmospheric pressure in (an aircraft cabin) at a high altitude

  • Attempt to persuade or coerce (someone) into doing something

  • (pressurise) supercharge: increase the pressure on a gas or liquid

  • A porous device for removing impurities or solid particles from a liquid or gas passed through it

  • device that removes something from whatever passes through it

  • an electrical device that alters the frequency spectrum of signals passing through it

  • A screen, plate, or layer of a substance that absorbs light or other radiation or selectively absorbs some of its components

  • remove by passing through a filter; "filter out the impurities"

  • A device for suppressing electrical or sound waves of frequencies not required

  • Hold back or dam up (flowing water or another liquid) to form a small lake

  • Pond was a grunge band from Portland, Oregon. They formed in 1991 and broke up in 1998. They were signed to Sub Pop (first two albums) and the Work Records sub-label of Sony Records (last album).

  • a small lake; "the pond was too small for sailing"

  • A pond is a body of standing water, either natural or man-made, that is usually smaller than a lake.

  • (of flowing water or other liquids) Form such a lake

Optimisation of a pressurised liquid extraction method for haloanisoles in cork stoppers [An article from: Analytica Chimica Acta]

Cork taint is a musty off-flavour in wines mainly caused by 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, but other haloanisoles can contribute. In this work, a method for the extraction of 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, 2,4,6-tribromoanisole and 2,6-dichloroanisole has been developed. The procedure involves the extraction of the haloanisoles from cork by pressurised liquid extraction and the analysis of the extracts by both GC-@mECD and GC-MS-MS. A central composite design was used to investigate the dependence of the recoveries of the analytes on the temperature, percentage pentane-diethyl ether ratio and the extraction time. Experimental data were then processed by using the multiple regression analysis in order to calculate a mathematical model representing the relationship between factors and responses and to determine the best experimental conditions for PLE method. These conditions corresponded to a temperature of 176^oC, an extraction time between 2.8 and 4min and an 80:20 pentane:diethyl ether ratio.

Stream & Waterfall

Stream & Waterfall

The water is pumped through a filter and into the stream. I'll need to build a real waterfall, but this makeshift one is good enough for now.
