This grill will fit all Acura MDX models from year 2004-2006. This mesh grille insert is for the upper grille. Note: This is not to replace your factory grille, it is simply an insert to change the current look of your car because this grille is simply an overlay. Therefore if you do not have the same front end as the picture this will not work. The mesh grille insert will attach straight on top of your factory grille using the provided wiring harness. The mesh has a diamond style pattern. This is very popular in the automotive scene. The mesh will not restrict airflow into your engine. The diamond mesh pattern has opens of 1/4" by 3/8". The mesh is a 20 gauge material meaning that it is strong yet it is also pliable making this a great product to work with. The mesh is a chrome 'like' mesh because it is not true chrome but is resembles it because of the shinny finish. Anti-HDR Bridge II Just to be clear: this is not HDR. OK, I think I'm done with HDR for creating quality images. I will still use it for other effects, but I'm going to manage pulling multiple exposures together by hand thru layering. I think it also allows for tighter control over sharpness on trees and water. You can essentially pick the image with the correct exposure on the trees/water and only show that. This is just a 2 exposure image. I was able to blend the two exposures by hand picking the best of both of them. The water was a bit of a trick since one was over exposed and the other underexposed, so I put the underexposed on top of the over exposed and set the layer transparency to 50%. After crafting a perfectly exposed image, I then applied my standard bag of tricks which includes shadows/hightlights, contrast, saturation, warming filter, and crop. Lunar Eclipse The best of a bunch of photos I grabbed whilst wearing some of those anti-blindness filter glasses. You can see the ghost image of the moon overlaid on the sun around the middle of the photo - this was early on in the event. The Constitution in Exile: How the Federal Government Has Seized Power by Rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land What ever happened to our inalienable rights? The Constitution was once the bedrock of our country, an unpretentious parchment that boldly established the God-given rights and freedoms of America. Today that parchment has been shred to ribbons, explains Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, as the federal government trounces state and individual rights and expands its reach far beyond what the Framers intended. An important follow-up to Judge Napolitano's best-selling Constitutional Chaos, this book shows with no-nonsense clarity how Congress has "purchased" regulations by bribing states and explains how the Supreme Court has devised historically inaccurate, logically inconsistent, and even laughable justifications to approve what Congress has done. It's an exciting excursion into the dark corners of the law, showing how do-gooders, busybodies, and control freaks in government disregard the limitations imposed upon Congress by the Constitution and enact laws, illegal and unnatural, in virtually every area of human endeavor. Praise for The Constitution in Exile from Left, Right, and Center "Does anyone understand the vision of America's founding fathers? The courts and Congress apparently don't have a clue. But Judge Andrew P. Napolitano does, and so will you, if you read The Constitution in Exile."-BILL O'REILLY "Whatever happened to states rights, limited government, and natural law? Judge Napolitano, in his own inimitable style, takes us on a fascinating tour of the destruction of constitutional government. If you want to know how the federal government got so big and fat, read this book. Agree or disagree, this book will make you think."-SEAN HANNITY "In all of the American media, Judge Andrew P. Napolitano is the most persistent, uncompromising guardian of both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution, very much including the Bill of Rights. Increasingly, our Constitution is in clear and present danger. Judge Napolitano--in The Constitution in Exile--has challenged all Americans across party lines to learn the extent of this constitutional crisis." -NAT HENTOFF "Judge Napolitano engages here in what I do every day on my program-make you think. There's no question that potential Supreme Court nominees and what our Constitution says and doesn't say played a major role for many voters in our last couple of elections. What the judge does here is detail why the federal government claims it can regulate as well as tax everything in sight as it grows and grows. Agree or disagree with him-you need to read his latest book, think, and begin to arm yourself as you enter this important debate." -RUSH LIMBAUGH "At a time when we are, in Benjamin Franklin's words, sacrificing essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, here comes the judge with what should be mandatory reading for the executive branch cronies who are busy stealing power while they think we're not watching. Thank goodness the judge is watching and speaking truth to power. More than a book, this is an emergency call to philosophical arms, one we must heed before it's too late." -ALAN COLMES What ever happened to our inalienable rights? Thank goodness the judge is watching and speaking truth to power. More than a book, this is an emergency call to philosophical arms, one we must heed before it's too late." -ALAN COLMES (14) iYear RE-DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE July 4, 2008 232 years have been hard on our government of, by, and for the people. “Of the people, by the people, and for the people” has been little more than a quaint sentiment for generations. Our government says it serves 300 million citizens, but our voices are no more than a low-grade background hum. We find it responsive to interests that purchase attention. How can 100 Senators hear our individual voices? Why would our 435 Representatives listen to anyone not contributing to the $3,000 they raise every single weekday? The answer: They can’t, and they won’t. But when 100 or 1,000 of us bring our voices together, public servants are forced to take notice. They have no choice but to account to those who hire them. Welcome to the Independence Year Project, America’s Internet Town Hall. iYear.US is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-owned, non-commercial public utility amplifying the voices of individual Americans, the true employers of our elected officials. iYear is designed to deliver your influence to our government more easily and quickly than licking a stamp and dropping a letter in the US mail, and – importantly – to bundle our voices together, so that we cannot be ignored. Today, when so many of us seek real change, Internet-based tools make it genuinely possible to combine our voices, money, and votes. Without our say in how we are governed, there is no true independence. Today, we can physically reassert our interests into the governing process, as originally intended by the founding fathers. Thus, we invite you to celebrate this Re-Declaration of Independence by participating in iYear! iYear was built by veterans of the first Internet campaign, supported by private donors. iYear is an issues-based network providing access to every Congressional district, Senate seat, and Federal agency. Our ideas and grievances may come together here to form political firepower, aimed straight at the decision makers. At iYear, we can: • Find common cause with others • Filter out distractions from political zealots • Spell out specific demands of our politicians • Use the iYear Vote Delivery System to turn Internet talk into voting action Take a look at the conversations, groups, topics, blogs, and networks available through this page, and explore these iYear sites: NewPrez.US • An independent site for every Presidential candidate • A “master site” for feedback to the sitting President A radical idea: Candidates no longer control our discussions of their candidacy. These sites live on after Election Day, helping us tell the new President what we care about. NewGov.US • A networking engine at each of the 435 Congressional district sites • A networking engine for each of the 100 Senate seats Our collective voice redirects the focus of local and regional political discussions. NewGov sites remain in place, as the politicians come and go… GovAdvisers.US • Collective citizen input to every Federal agency, bureau and office Send a message directly to the agencies performing work you care about: FEMA.govAdvisers.US; INS.govAdvisers.US, TSA.govAdvisers.US, etc. OurLaws.US • 50 sites, for citizen input to each state’s law makers • A citizen-controlled site for state legislative districts • A “master site” for citizen guidance of Federal legislation Direct voter comments on issues and legislation matter deeply to state legislators. Deliver yours through this consistent and efficient system – they will pay attention. PeoplePressure.US • The people’s war chest to hire and motivate the best Washington lobbyists • Uses the fundraising techniques that propelled Ron Paul and Barack Obama to the forefront of people-financed power The sharp tip of the iYear spear! Speak the language that politicians understand: Money. Power. Connections. Democrats, Republicans, Independents: Re-declare your independence today. iYear.US. 365 Day 39 I live in California. I am not from here, I moved here about 7 years ago. Since this is about as far west as America can go, this was one of the last modern developed places in the world. Think about it, Europe is mass developed and urbanized everywhere you go. People have been living there in their cities and towns and civilizations for tens of thousands of years. America as a country was developed in terms of the white man until the 1500’s or so. California was not really developed until the 1800’s. The early part of the 1900’s people were still coming out here claiming land as their own. The little ghost towns that I love to visit were once bustling towns that had their OWN community and their OWN life. Federal government really didn’t interfere much because it was the “Wild West”. How damn cool is the concept of the Wild West? Crazy people who had nothing left to lose traveled across the unknown country to find gold. Every little town and village along the way had a couple saloons, motel, jail, church, and the people who lived there. There were no highways. They didn’t own cars. They all knew each other. The passersby on their way had to deal with the locals. The local economy was real. The few people who held the power ran the entire town. The sheriff, the mayor, I’m not really sure. But I know that back then things were not interconnected and community was much more real. It was dangerous, but it was interesting. You were not as connected to the rest of the world in your little town in the Wild West, for better or for worse. Internet? You kidding me, not even close. In any case I moved out here to California 7 years ago. What surprises me most about this newly developed piece of land is the amount of people I meet out here that have been born here and never left. Basically what that tells me is that I was born into a stagnant generation. There is no exploration. There is nowhere left to go for the promise of a better life. You don’t meet too many people that are from somewhere else. That to me tells me that I’m a generation or two too late. California isn’t the place to go to strike gold anymore or for an interesting exciting new life, its just another place in America where people are born and die. It isn’t new, it’s just like everything else. Now that’s not entirely true, but it isn’t the “wild west” or does it hold the “go west young man” theme that it had such a short tiny amount of years ago. That said, Northern California is a great place to live. The weather is PERFECT and the people I surround myself by are pretty badass. However the matter of it being a place to be for entrepreneurs and rouges in search of a more engaging life it is no longer. The metal clip can be moved from side to side so it can be worn either right or left handed, anywhere around the waist. Its flexible design adds little bulk to the size of the gun. It is constructed of a three layer nylon laminate that includes a sturdy exterior, vapor barrier and soft lined interior allowing a rapid unobstructed draw. It includes a non-glare hardened steel spring clip and an adjustable, removable thumb break. The holster is constructed using only top grade, new materials, and no surplus automotive foams, fillers or liners. The nylon exterior provides resistance to scuffs, abrasions and moisture. It is sewn using nylon thread and edgebound with nylon binding tape using double needle stitching to provide about 14 stitches per inch reinforcement. The combination of materials and hand finishing provides a strong, good looking, long wearing holster. 36/365: Toss humidifier filter We have a whole-house humidifier and I shut it off last spring. Boy am I noticing it now! My skin is dry and my hands are starting to crack. Ouch. I have been promising myself for days that I'd get that thing turned back on. I finally remembered to look at it, only to find that the filter is gross. So Hubby helped me take it out and I threw it away. The frame is soaking in vinegar and tomorrow I'll go buy a new one. If I remember. Filter back - lots of lint The filter - removed after 3-4 months of use. Will probably not be able to go an entire 5 month winter on one filter. The box was only ever pleasantly warm to the touch. Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design A practical and accessible guide to understanding digital signal processing Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design was developed and fine-tuned from the author's twenty-five years of experience teaching classes in digital signal processing. Following a step-by-step approach, students and professionals quickly master the fundamental concepts and applications of discrete-time signals and systems as well as the synthesis of these systems to meet specifications in the time and frequency domains. Striking the right balance between mathematical derivations and theory, the book features: * Discrete-time signals and systems * Linear difference equations * Solutions by recursive algorithms * Convolution * Time and frequency domain analysis * Discrete Fourier series * Design of FIR and IIR filters * Practical methods for hardware implementation A unique feature of this book is a complete chapter on the use of a MATLAB(r) tool, known as the FDA (Filter Design and Analysis) tool, to investigate the effect of finite word length and different formats of quantization, different realization structures, and different methods for filter design. This chapter contains material of practical importance that is not found in many books used in academic courses. It introduces students in digital signal processing to what they need to know to design digital systems using DSP chips currently available from industry. With its unique, classroom-tested approach, Introduction to Digital Signal Processing and Filter Design is the ideal text for students in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics, and an accessible introduction or refresher for engineers and scientists in the field. An Instructor's Manual presenting detailed solutions to all the problems in the book is available online from the Wiley editorial department. An Instructor Support FTP site is also available. Optimisation of a pressurised liquid extraction method for haloanisoles in cork stoppers [An article from: Analytica Chimica Acta] This digital document is a journal article from Analytica Chimica Acta, published by Elsevier in 2005. The article is delivered in HTML format and is available in your Amazon.com Media Library immediately after purchase. You can view it with any web browser. Description: Cork taint is a musty off-flavour in wines mainly caused by 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, but other haloanisoles can contribute. In this work, a method for the extraction of 2,4,6-trichloroanisole, 2,4,6-tribromoanisole and 2,6-dichloroanisole has been developed. The procedure involves the extraction of the haloanisoles from cork by pressurised liquid extraction and the analysis of the extracts by both GC-@mECD and GC-MS-MS. A central composite design was used to investigate the dependence of the recoveries of the analytes on the temperature, percentage pentane-diethyl ether ratio and the extraction time. Experimental data were then processed by using the multiple regression analysis in order to calculate a mathematical model representing the relationship between factors and responses and to determine the best experimental conditions for PLE method. These conditions corresponded to a temperature of 176^oC, an extraction time between 2.8 and 4min and an 80:20 pentane:diethyl ether ratio. (6) The Long Road To Woodstock---Genesis Of A Bad Habit At some point early on in my eastward journey, I went in to a convenience store, or whatever passed for such in Canada back in the day, and asked to buy some rolling papers and some tobacco. I had it in my head that learning to roll cigarettes was a good talent to have. I had never smoked cigarettes up to that point, at least, not habitually. I can't say when or where I had ever smoked an individual cigarette before, but I suppose I had. I must not have made myself clear, because the clerk handed me not rolling papers and tobacco, but a pack of cigarettes. She wasn't just handing me any cigarette either: she handed me a pack of McDonald's Export A's. Maybe I had asked for McDonald's rolling paper, or McDonald's tobacco. How I knew about this brand I couldn't tell you---had we already started, back at school in Philadelphia, our infatuation with foreign cigarettes that would take us to Players and Gitanes? I suppose so, but I don't remember. I do remember that the packaging for McDonald's Export A was particularly appealing----all green and red, with a picture of a fetching Scottish lassie in a kilt (this is my memory of it; the actuality may have been something different). So now that I had a pack of cigarettes, I had to do something with it. Or them. The most logical thing seemed to be to smoke them. And truth be told---out on the highway, in one spot for hours on end, with no traffic coming or going, no company, the necessity to stand (it looked stupid to be sitting on the ground and then to get up when a car came by---I wouldn't pick that guy up either), a cigarette provided pretty decent company. You stayed awake, you had something to do, there was this ritual involved---it's not much justification for a bad habit, but it's one of the few I can think of. A cigarette is a hitchhiker's best friend. And the other point that's notable is that a filtered McDonald's Export A was a fine cigarette. If I was going to try to get someone addicted to cigarettes, that might be a good place to start. They (the McDonald's in question) are firmly-packed, smooth, not too harsh, but full-bodied. If I was going to go back and start smoking cigarettes again (I'm not), I would go looking for that one. So after I smoked the first pack, I bought another one. I didn't go back to the idea of buying rolling papers and loose tobacco. The acquisition of that skill would have to wait for another day. Sadly, I did smoke for much of my adult life. Fortunately, I never smoked all that much. My smoking habit probably peaked out at about 1/2 a pack a day, and then declined to something in the range of 3 or 4 cigarettes, 6 or 8 at the max. If I had a girlfriend who smoked, I was likely to smoke. Most of them did. If I had a drink in my hand, or another illicit substance nearby, I was likely to combine all three deadly pleasures. Five years ago, at a nadir of existence, when I could have been excused from a Niagara of cigarette indulgence, I unexpectedly smoked my last cigarette. After that, I had a few cigars, but they left me zombie-headed and irritable, and I haven't even had one of those since. Now if you could fix me up with a Belgian beer like the one I had in Cambridge in May, that, my friends, would get me excited. I'm Rubber and You're Glue! (Story Inside) “I got a Nikon camera I love to take a photograph So mama don't take my Kodachrome away” —Paul Simon “Kodachrome” “Hey! Are you going to sell those photos to the National Enquirer?” Thomas Gibson, ex of Darma & Greg, who plays Aaron “Hotch” Hotchner on the TV show Criminal Minds was yelling this question to me from down the alley behind the House of Hayden bar where he stood next to the series star, one of my actor heroes, Joe “Fat Tony" Mantegna. I was standing in the back doorway of the House of Hayden shooting with my high-powered zoom lens and was surprised that he even noticed me from the distance that stood between us. I shook my head side to side. “Are you sure?” he yelled. Damn. This guy has amazing eyesight, I thought to myself. I shook my head up and down. “Because they won’t buy them!” he informed me. Nobody else seemed to notice me and Gibson just seemed to be having fun with me, so I kept shooting. Until about 5 minutes later when some little piss-ant AD (assistant director), no doubt showing off for the crew, turned and asked if I was shooting the photos for personal use. “Yes.” Then I thought, ah, why not be honest. “I’m shooting for the local paper,” I said. “Well, can you not do it right now?” he asked. I wasn’t making any noise or interfering with their production in any way. So, genuinely curious I asked, “Why?” “Why not?” He echoed with his lame schoolyard taunt. I was sorely tempted to say, “Make me!” and then do a little jig with my hand securely on the door handle ready to slam it shut in his creepy face should he decide to come charging at me across the playground where both our dignities had been suddenly transported. While I was busy filtering through appropriate childhood era comebacks in my head, he brought out the big guns with, “You should call the production company and go through the chain of commands!” The equivalent of: Because I said so and I’ll tell on you if you don’t stop it! “But, I’m already here and you’ll be finished by the time I do that.” I said. Not to mention they were filming in a public place and like I said I wasn’t bothering anyone besides this little “giant.” Thank God somebody who actually was in charge chose that moment to shout, “Quiet on the set!” I was beginning to feel pretty silly engaging in this whiney little bitch fest in front of Joe Mantegna. What must he think of me! It wouldn’t matter that I didn’t start this fight or that Mantegna didn’t know me from Adam. I was guilty by participation.
