frustration stems
Frustration stems from a bike tire that will not be filled, and inflates to anger when the pump stubbornly grips the valve; a rebellion of its own. Desperation, like a pin, pricks the bloating emotion. The explosion that follows calms after a quiet walk.
Not a bike ride.

my dad is 60.
Adam found this sweet 1937 Pontiac at one of his shops about to be scrapped, so he bought it for my dad and had it towed to his house.
I hadn't seen the car yet, so we headed over to my parent's house to check it out. When we got there, my dad was replacing the brakes on his Toyota in the garage and my sister B was parked in the driveway in front of the open garage. My parent's Equinox was parked in the driveway to the left of the garage, so we parked behind the Equinox and went inside.
My dad was still finishing up the brakes on the Toyota, so my mom, Adam and I went inside to get a flashlight to see the Pontiac in the backyard. I had just laid eyes ont the Pontiac when I heard SCREEECH**CRUNCH*
I never swear in front of my mom, but I said "What the F*CK!?" and went running with Adam toward their 6' privacy fence to see what had happened.
My first thought was: OMIGOD, my dad screwed up the brakes and they failed and he hit B's car!! (Obviously, because she was parked right in front of the open garage.) Instead Adam looks over the fence and says "He hit OUR car!"
We opened the gate and ran to find my dad putting the Toyota in park and getting out looking disoriented. He stumbled around in a circle a bit and said "What the hell happened??" while we asked the same thing.
Yeahhhh. So, my dad likes to accelerate at all times. B had left already. He decided to take the Toyota and the new brakes for a spin. Instead of just backing out of his garage like a normal person, he decided to take advantage of his [really huge] driveway and floor it out of the garage and the cut the wheel to the left to swing around and change direction.
He totally forgot OUR CAR was in his driveway.
That's what he said. "I forgot you guys were here!!" It doesn't help they don't really have driveway lights and our car is pretty close to the color of asphalt.
My dad T-boned my car with his hoopty. My very favorite 2007 Ford Fusion AWD. He completely crumpled the fender and the tire was laying inside of the wheel well at an unnatural angle (clearly he broke the axle).
I started laughing HYSTERICALLY. I also laughed hysterically when my Monte Carlo was stolen a few years ago. All you can do is laugh in this situations. We have great insurance, they have great insurance... so what is there to be upset about, really??
We used their car that weekend and waited for a tow. Almost 2 weeks later and we have our Fusion back good as new. The damages totaled $3100 with $1800 just in suspension work.
We were joking that he shoudl've hit it a little more to the left, because then he could've bent the frame and totaled the car, thus eliminating our car payment. To that he said "I could hit it again!" and we all yelled "NO!"
Only me.

Achilles
The original text that accompanied the photo in the 1981 Chatham Navy Day Program
It is no coincidence that HMS Achilles' motto 'FORTITER IN RE' (Strength in all things) reflects the mythical attributes of the Greek Warrior whose name she bears. Ships named Achilles have been in Royal Naval Service since 1747, but it was only in 1939 following the Battle of the River Plate that the name became a household word. A light cruiser, Achilles, achieved fame with HMS AJAX and HMS EXETER in forcing the German pocket battleship GRAF SPEE to scuttle herself.
The present ship is a Leander Class Frigate and was designed in the 1960's and launched in 1968. She is armed with a Mark 6 4.5 gun, a Seacat, ship to air missile system and modern long range radar and submarine detection equipment. Her conversion to the Seawolf Missile System and Lynx helicopter is planned for late 1982. Her most effective Anti-Submarine weapon is the Wasp helicopter with its mark 44 and mark 46 torpedoes. HMS Achilles two steam powered turbines produce 30,000 h.p., enough to propel the sleek warship through the water at speeds of up to 30 knots.
The ship has recently returned from a highly successful tour of the West Indies. At present, she is engaged in duties in home waters and maintains her connections with her adopted town Swansea. On the last Navy Days, over 11,000 people visited HMS Achilles and she hopes to welcome even more this year.
Achilles' heel
Statue of Achilles thniskon (dying) at the Corfu Achilleion.
In Greek mythology, when Achilles was a baby, it was foretold that he would die in battle from an arrow in the foot. To prevent his death, his mother Thetis took Achilles to the River Styx which was supposed to offer powers of invincibility and dipped his body into the water. But as Thetis held Achilles by the heel, his heel was not washed over by the water of the magical river. Achilles grew up to be a man of war who survived many great battles. But one day, a poisonous arrow shot at him was lodged in his heel, killing him shortly after. Still, Achilles is remembered as one of the greatest fighters who ever lived.

Mentor Marsh (View Large)
Mentor Marsh, one of the largest natural marshes remaining along the Lake Erie shoreline, became Ohio’s first state nature preserve in 1971. It includes 691 acres.
The marsh is an important breeding and nursery area for several fish that live in Lake Erie.
Mentor Marsh and the adjacent Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve are among the best places in the state to witness spring migrations of songbirds. Great numbers of waterfowl also stop at the marsh during seasonal migrations, such as Blue-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Gadwall, American Black Duck, Northern Shoveler and Hooded Merganser.

Biographie [modifier]
TGP 453F - 1968 Hillman Imp Rally Car
Sold for ?1,450
Introduced in 1963, the Hillman Imp was the brainchild of engineers Michael Parkes (later to find fame with Ferrari) and Tim Fry. Based on their small-car experiments of the mid 1950s, its rear-engined layout was designed to maximise interior space, and its crisp lines and cute detailing owed something to the contemporaneous Chevrolet Corvair, with the added bonus of a hinged rear windscreen. It was equipped with all-round independent coil-sprung suspension, four-wheel drum brakes and sharp rack and pinion steering. Powered by a Coventry-Climax supplied 875cc SOHC four-cylinder aluminium engine mated to a bespoke, alloy-cased four-speed transaxle, the featherweight four-seater made the most of its 39bhp and 52lbft of torque. As fun to drive and in many ways as innovative as its BMC Mini rival, the Imp never recovered from its early reputation for poor reliability - a corollary of being rushed to market by a cash-strapped Rootes group - and by the time production ceased in 1976, Hillman (along with the rest of the Rootes Group) had been consumed by the Chrysler empire.
Beginning life as a road car, 'TGP 453F' was converted into a historic rally car shortly before entering the current ownership five years ago. Interestingly, the vendor informs us that he campaigned a Works Imp in the Far East during the late 1960s (Kuala Lumper 6-hours etc). The specification is too long to list here but highlights include a twin Stromberg carburettor-fed L4 (late Mk2) engine, rear roll cage, oil cooler, heavy duty driveshaft donuts and period bucket seats with FIA-spec harnesses. Lowered and stiffened all round with Monte Carlo springs and adjustable dampers plus strengthened suspension mountings, the diminutive saloon further benefits from the addition of a fusebox: "Unbelievably not a standard feature", says the owner. It also comes with four steel wheels wearing fresh tyres, and a spare Sport radiator. Describing the car as being in "good" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior, bodywork and paintwork, the seller adds: "This rally Imp had a sympathetic restoration 300 miles ago and has been stored since". Offered for sale without reserve, 'TGP 453F' is accompanied by a 2005-issued MSA Historic Technical Passport and will require some recommissioning prior to use.

E-Trailer , New Tires & Painted
Painted the E-Trailer from top to bottom today, and replaced the tires/wheels. I've also installed a shelf for the Batteries and Electronics.
My brother, told me today, heck lets just add the frontend of a motorcycle, and make it an E-Trike.

TIRE CHAIN REQUIREMENTS. TIRE CHAIN
Tire Chain Requirements. Car Tyres Kent.
Tire Chain Requirements
- necessitate: require as useful, just, or proper; "It takes nerve to do what she did"; "success usually requires hard work"; "This job asks a lot of patience and skill"; "This position demands a lot of personal sacrifice"; "This dinner calls for a spectacular dessert"; "This intervention does not
- (require) ask: consider obligatory; request and expect; "We require our secretary to be on time"; "Aren't we asking too much of these children?"; "I expect my students to arrive in time for their lessons"
- (require) command: make someone do something
- A thing that is needed or wanted
- A thing that is compulsory; a necessary condition
- chain attached to wheels to increase traction on ice or snow
- Snow chains, or tire chains, are devices which are affixed to the tires of vehicles to provide superior traction when driving through snow and ice.
Week 10: Warmed by a scarf Mrs. Wirehead made...
I went up into the mountains for a snow vacation. To take some pictures and have some fun and stuff.
See, living in Silicon Valley gives you the option of a nice snowstorm, but not the requirement. When I lived in Ohio or Illinois or Connecticut, every winter brought snowstorms. And shoveling snow. And stuff.
But if you want to go and see the snow, while living in California, you just need to drive up into the mountains. So it's more of an option than a requirement. And it's been a while since I've seen some good piles of snow.
There's one big difference. They don't salt the streets out here and they require that you have tire chains. I keep wondering if I really need them, but if you don't mount 'em, they'll write you a ticket.
Most of my snow gear lives in the pockets of the down coat I grab whenever I'm headed to snow country. But Priti has been a good bad influence of late, which has caused Mrs. Wirehead to get a loom and this is one of her scarves.
It was warm and snuggly. And since Mrs. Wirehead was feeling sick and didn't make it, it was a good substitute.
We went snowshoeing. For me, the first time. That is basically what happens when a photographer reads Galen Rowell and realizes how many of his great shots were taken while out on a big outdoorsy hike somewhere in often extreme conditions. You start to want to bike and hang glide and hike and climb and otherwise explore. Because you might be able to coax a woman to come over and pose naked with a jar of pickles... but you won't coax a snow-covered conifer into your living room for a shoot... and if you do, it probably means you need to check to make sure your insurance is paid up.
Marin Singlespeed
This bike was built specifically as a winter commuter, and more specifically for a short (5-mile) night ride through industrial and residential city streets. Marin frame, Kona fork, WTB grease guard hubs on Syncros rims, and a bunch of stuff that was just sort of around my garage. The frame is from some time in the '90s, and was suposedly welded up in Marin County. Geared at 42:17, the chain tensioner is a requirement even with a half link. The Kenda tires are heavy (especially with thorn proof tubes), but have held up well over broken pavement and alleys.
