Papiga
Danas je poznato oko 6000 vrsta papiga,koje uglavnom nastanjuju šume toplih krajeva,a kazlikuju se veličinom ,bojom perja,glasanjem,načinom ishrane i drugim.Ubrajaju se u dugoživučće životinje-neke vrste mogu doživjeti i preko 100 godina.Još su ih stari Rimljani držali u svojim domovima,učili oponašati ljutski govor te ih iznimno cjenili.Najraširenija vrsta kućne papige je tigrica(Melopsittacus undulatus),pripitomljena sredinom 19.stoljeća,a potječe iz Australije.U prirodi je dugačka između 15 i 20 cm,zelena boja perja,dugačak šiljat plavi rep,žutu masku sa 6 sitnih crnih točaka na vratu te plavim orisom na obrazu.Tjekom godine uzgoja pojavio se znatan broj mutacija,pa se danas papige tigrice javljaju i u plavoj,žutoj i bijeloj boji,kaoi u njihovim kombinacijama.
