The Quran goes high tech
The Quran goes high tech FTEC Resources Bhd has bundled a digital version of the Quran with its Smartbook mini notebook. The Quran software, created by Al-Tasneen Sdn Bhd, includes audio recitations of the entire Quran; translations in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Arabic; search engine to find verses; and recordings of Azan prayers by famous Mu’adzins from Saudi Arabia and Egypt. FTEC hopes to make learning the Quran easier, fun and interactive, said Major Ismail Ahmad, FTEC executive director. “It also can be used by adults to get a deeper understanding of the Quran,” he added. The recording of Quran verses will make it easier for users to memorise and recite the verses by heart, said Ismail. The bundle is a good deal because users are not just getting an application but also a mini notebook that is capable of running basic computing tasks such as an Internet browser, word processor and educational software, he said. The mini notebook has an Intel Atom processor, Intel 915GMS chipset, 802.11bg WiFi, up to 1GB of RAM, up to 30GB of hard disk space, a webcam and SD memory card slot, and is powered by Windows XP Home operating system. The Smartbook with the Quran software retails for RM1,399. — ZAM KARIM ++++ www.ftec.com |
