Venus Doom is the sixth studio album by Finnish rock band HIM, scheduled for release on September 14, 2007 (Germany & Ireland), September 17, 2007 internationally and September 18, 2007 in the US.According to frontman Ville Valo, it will be their heaviest album yet. Venus Doom will still be comprised of Valo's allegorical lyrics, comparable to HIM's older albums. He has also noted that the music on Venus Doom will be comparable to Metallica and My Bloody Valentine.The longest song on the album is 10 minutes long, while the shortest song is 4 and a half minutes.The album was produced by Tim Palmer (Ozzy Osbourne, Dredg) and Hiili Hiilesmaa (The 69 Eyes, Apocalyptica).
The cover art was painted by artist David Harouni. Ville Valo purchased one of Harouni's paintings at New Orleans' Harouni Gallery and later asked Harouni if it could be used as the cover for "Venus Doom." "Venus Doom" will be a 2-Disc release with one CD of music and a DVD of bandwork.
The band played the track "Dead Lovers' Lane" live at the "Give it a Name Festival" in Birmingham, England, April 28, 2007 and in Glasgow, Scotland, April 29. The band also played the tracks "The Kiss of Dawn" and "Passion's Killing Floor" at the July 7, 2007 concert at Brussels, Belgium.
HIM filmed the music video for the first single off the album, "The Kiss of Dawn" starting June 21 in the Los Angeles area.Meiert Avis, who directed HIM's previous video Wings of a Butterfly, was the director. The production team put out a casting call for a "beautiful girl (model type) to perform in the lead role of the video". Auditions were held on June 19.Ville Valo has stated that the song "Kiss of Dawn" was for a "close friend who committed suicide soon after the band wrapped the recording sessions for Dark Light".Sheet music for the song "The Kiss of Dawn" was posted on their official website prior to the release of the album, giving fans from the US the chance to submit a video of themselves playing the song from their own perspective. The 3 winning videos will be featured on HIM's upcoming live DVD and the winners will receive a signed copy of said DVD.
The song "Passion's Killing Floor" is on the Transformers soundtrack, which was released on July 3, 2007.
A secret key at Heartagram.com, can be entered only once, and by the person who figures out the code hidden in the Kiss of Dawn video, availible to buy for $1.99; the winner that enters the correct code will be able to see any concert performed by HIM in 2007 or 2008. There are three known keys, 'The Third Policeman', 'February 12, 1961' and the winning one is 'ten point six'. If you type in the word 'Venus' or leave the box blank, you will be taken to a page that asks you to continue. If you type in 'Bleed Well' you will hear a sample for the track 'Cyanide Sun'.
Venus Doom is now availible to pre-order through the HIM website. There are three editions of the album. The regular version is $14.99 and contains all 9 normal songs. The special edition is $26.98, contains two extra songs on a separate disk and has alternate album art with the words "Venus Doom". The last version is a limited edition containing all of the disks of the special edition with the addition of a leather journal with 60 pages of pictures, drawings, and lyrics, and 3 polaroid pictures in an envelope; this will run in price at $49.99.

Venus Doom je normalan bez posebnih dodataka,Venus Doom(Special Edition) + bonus CD sa Dead Lovers Lane (remix) & Love In Cold Blood (remix) posebno,Venus Doom (Limited Edition)- je u koži i dobiva se neka knjižica sa 60 stranica fotografija, ilustracija,riječi pjesama itd.i uključuje sve pjesme i bonus CD sa još tri nečega( to nisam uspjela prevest, sigurno sa neke tri pjesme ili spota, ko će ih znat'),još se dobiju tri polaroidne fotografije u nečemu ne znam čemu jer ne znam ostatak prevest.Uglavnom, najviše mi se sviđa Limited Edition koji će kod nas koštati oko 200kn.Pa moram često posjećivati dide i bake i ušparati...
