Boreas je bog sjevernog vjetra koji je živio u Thracii. Prikazan je kao krilati, jako snažni, krupni i odjeven u kratku tuniku. On je sin Eosa i Astraeusa, i brat Zephyrusa, Eurusa i Notusa.
Boreas je pomogao Atenjanima tako da kad ih je Perzija napala potopio im je jakim vjetrom sve brodove. U Rimu je zvan Aquilo.
