SNAŽAN POTRES 6,6 POGODIO HAVAJE
Najjači potres u posljednjih 20 godina pogodio je Havaje. Potres jačine 6,6 izazvao je nestanak električne energije, odrone zemlje i veliku materijalnu štetu. Vlasti su izdale proglas o katastrofi. Nakon glavnog potresa uslijedilo je još nekoliko manje snažnih potresa od kojih je najjači bio 5,8. Pacific Tsunami Center nije izdao proglas o opasnosti od plimnog vala. Oko 3 000 ljudi je evakuirano iz tri hotela. Na svu srću, nema prijava o ljudskim žrtvama.
Najjači potres koji je pogodio Havaje zabilježen je 1868. godine jačine 7,9 i taj je potres izazvao tsunami valove koji su odnijeli 31 život. Zadnji snažan potres registriran je 1983. godine jačine 6,7.
