ŠUMSKI POŽARI U KALIFORNIJI PROŽDIRU SVE PRED SOBOM VEĆ TJEDNIMA
Guverner je požar u nacionalnom parku Los Padres nazvao 'jednim od najvećih požara u novijoj povijesti Kalifornije.
Katastrofalni požar koji je uništio velik dio nacionalnog parka Los Padres, zaštićeno područje šume i šikare pedesetak kilometara udaljeno od središta Los Angelesa, u nedjelju je bio ugašen na 40 posto područja. 2006. godina već je sada najgora što se tiče požara šume i niskog raslinja u SAD-u od 1960., kada su vlasti počele voditi statistiku. Od 1. siječnja u požaru je uništeno 36.768 četvornih kilometara terena, dok je u čitavoj 2005., godini prošlog rekorda, vatrena stihija opustošila 35.154 četvorna kilometra.
