7th July – the longest day in my life

I’m in Denver. It’s 4 AM and I’m having jet-leg problems. I went to sleep around 11 in the evening last night, but I woke up around 3 and since than I was trying to get some sleep, so at last I decided to put a few lines on my blog.

So, how was my flight and whole 7th July?? It was great. I was flying from Zagreb around 9.35 to London. In London I had problems with my carry on luggage because they said I could carry only one bag (and I was carrying my carry on bag and bag with laptop). I somehow managed to put everything inside one bag but I had to carry my laptop in my hands. After that “little” problem, everything went smooth. I didn’t have any problems finding my terminal for flight to Chicago at 12.40. Flight was nice as I was watching movies.

We came to Chicago around 14:30 local time. In Chicago I had to pass border and I didn’t have any problems with that either. I had enough time till my next flight so I wasn’t in hurry and I managed to see a little bit of airport. O’Hara International airport is a little bit confusing, as I had to take my entire luggage and after crossing the border I had to re-check my luggage again but nowhere was written where I have to do this. I met one Denmark girl who was also confused with all that and together we figure it out where to go to re-check our luggage. I had my flight to Denver at 17:50 local time (which was around midnight of time in Croatia, so Croatian 7th July was over and I still had 6 hours of 7th July in US).

When I finally landed in Denver it was easy for me to find Up with People crew who were waiting for me at the airport. We went to take my luggage and after that with whole group of Germans we were waiting our bus to come to take us to place where we will meet our host family. First we had to pass registration and after that we were given information how to recognize our host-family. Mine was “Self Tanner” so I was looking for such sign and than I met Diane and Brian. Also Faith from Chicago and Tina from Sweden is staying with us. Their house is beautiful. I’m lovin’ it. Before going to sleep, we had a little late tee chat.

So, my 7th July wasn’t 24hours long day, it was 32hours long day as I get some hours by changing time zones.
