Let me introduce to you this deliciousness called Bubble Tea. Funny thing is that I originally didn't like it (like many other things) when I first tried it. I actually had a problem with the tapioca pearls because of how chewy they were. WELL, I might have changed my opinion now, because the Bubble Tea I got was in Chinatown and it was fantastic! On top of that, I really really liked the pearls, which were cooked just right and had a hint of caramel...mmm...
Bubble Tea originated in Taiwan in 1980's and since then became a hit. There are many varieties, but the basic ingredients are tea (usually green or black), and it can be fruit or milk based. My absolute favorite is the most popular - Taro. It is a tropical plant known primarily as a root vegetable in the Asian countries. It has purple pigments, which give the drink a crazy color. The taste is so unique, I can't describe it, you need to try it.
If you ever see Bubble tea, give it a shot and even if you don't like it at first try it again! :)
