Pro'sFeels good to hold nice having a kick stnad and can hook up to you TV to watch netflix and youtube.Price is great!Con'sNetflix will not run but maybe 30 minutes then the system locks up.The back can get really hot.Archos customer service sucks takes almost a week to get a response from them.a lot of the apps will work for a little while but then locks up and you have to reset the tablet to get it to work againOver all I was disappointed for something I was looking so forward to getting. I only hope that I can return it.

Great for storing up videos / music / whatever before you go on a long trip. This is missing on the Kindle Fire. The Fire only has 6GB of usable space, with no way to expand it. So when you're outside of Wifi range, the Kyros is a way better option.- It has a camera and a microphone, which the Fire lacks. Quality's nothing special, but they work.- The Kyros has devoted buttons for Menu and Back. I find this easier than the touchscreen based ones on the Fire.- There's an HDMI output port, so you can plug it into your TV. I haven't tried this yet.======But hey, the Kindle Fire's no slouch either. Ways the Kindle Fire beats the Kyros:- The Fire has a slightly faster processor (dual-core) and more RAM than the Kyros. The Kyros runs all the games and movies I've tried just fine, but maybe there's some time the extra power would be useful.- The Fire is smaller and easier to hold. It makes a better handheld reader than the Kyros does.- It's more mainstream, which means getting things working on the Fire tends to be easier. For example, the latest version of the Netflix app runs kind of weird on the Kyros, so I had to download version 2.2 instead. Once I did, it worked great. ======Overall I've been pleasantly surprised with the Kyros. It's awesome for watching Netflix movies, playing games, reading comics - all the usual tablet stuff. You can install the Kindle app and the Amazon marketplace on it too, so it becomes like a large-screen Fire with way more capabilities. Lastly, a helpful hint. When you get it, the first thing you want to do is install the Android marketplace so you can get the best apps. There are instructions online for how to do this; google around a bit. I followed instructions I found on a website called "xda-developers". It takes a little bit of technical skill, so, if you're not tech-savvy, ask someone for help. I used a micro-SD card to transfer the files and it took about 15 minutes total.

I wanted a tablet that would allow me to read my Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited (MDCU) subscription and other regular e-books while lounging around my house. With a little work, this fits the bill perfectly.1) As others have said, you have to go to YouTube and search for Coby Kyros app store to find a video that shows you how to get the Android Market and Flash on here. It isn't something that's intuitive or easy, but the video makes it do-able for a computer-literate person. Without this step, the tablet isn't much to talk about. Required for Flash content, including (MDCU).2) Remember, "4G" in the model number is "4 GB of storage built in" and wasn't meant to imply a connection to the 4G Cellular network.3) This thing feels and looks so much nicer than I was expecting! For the price I paid, I expected it to be flimsy plastic. But it's a nice, solid piece of hardware.4) Since I mentioned MDCU above, let me say it works much better in Single Page mode instead of Smart Panels. Pinch doesn't work with it. Some of the controls are slow to respond. I'm willing to put up with this, because I love reading MDCU without having to tote my laptop. I use MDCU instead of native comics apps because I would rather pay $60/year to rent 10,000 comics than pay $1.99 or more per issue. MDCU is Flash based, so this is one application that my hacked-up inexpensive Android tablet can do that iPad never will.5) Right now for e-books I'm reading EPub files. I haven't tried it with PDF or Kindle files yet.6) I did spend an extra thirty something bucks for the 32GB micro SD card. The 4GB that come with it would fill up fast if you have photos, music, or videos to put on it.I'm really enjoying my new tablet. It required a little work and research to get it going, and isn't for people who want to avoid that. It's a great price and I'm glad I bought it.

Purchased this version the day they came out, have been hard pressed to put it down since then! Some thoughts:1. The battery life is awesome! 6.5 hours of continuous heavy use only used up 65% of my battery! 2. You get the real web, flash actually plays remarkably well. You can just play videos straight on youtube, are able to click links in them etc. Not a huge fan of flash, but it is everywhere! 3. If you are familiar with webOS, the operating system on the TouchPad, you know how awesome the mutli-tasking is, widely held to be best mobile interface in that regards, and it really shines on this beautiful large screen. 4. As a retailer rep at a big electronic store commented after I showed "it does so much for you" and unlike his phone/pad on the TouchPad you dont have to figure out which app to use, go find it, launch it, & then start typing, on here you just start typing what you are thinking then choose the app to finish it with in an easy list (email, fb, twitter, memo, calendar, and the list goes on!).5. Although it does have a limited number of apps compared to the tablet market leader, it has many of the important ones, and most are outstanding quality with very few ads to be seen! The main thing to remember is you dont need an app for a whole lot of things, you have the real web just like on a computer! Imagine if you had to go find app for each website you wanted to visit on your computer, nuts right? This works like your computer, apps when you want them, the real web the rest of the time.6. Your accounts are tied right into the tablet, and you can access everything from one place... You can chat on google, skype, aim, yahoo, etc. (even sms with a new HP webOS phone) all from the same place built right into the messaging app. Email is the same way & is the best email interface I have ever seen, and I am excited to have it on my computer next year when HP starts putting webOS on every PC they sell (some time of window you can run webOS apps in most likely).7. Love video skyping on this!8. Could it have a rear camera, sure, doubt I would use it much (thats what my smartphone &/ camera is for) especially if it is a poor quality camera like the leading device. 9. I could go on and on (so could my wife who is trying hard to win one currently for herself, and my kids who are jn love with coloring games, air hockey, and of course ANGRY BIRDS HD!) Just two hours out of the box and I am very happy with my HP Touchpad. Wanting to rule out buyers remorse, I tried the Ipad 2 and the Acer Iconia (android honeycomb) tablets recently to be sure I would know what I was comparing. The Ipad is very nice, no argument there, but I understood why people complain about the closed Apple system. There was little cross platform functionality with the Ipad. I was much less impressed with the android tablet. Things just didn't seem to work right, some apps didn't work because I had the "wrong" android device, and there didn't really seem to be all that many apps for an adroid tablet, rather they were mostly for android phones.As far as the touchpad goes, the only complaint I could give is the lack of apps. However, that can be expected right now, and I hope to see many apps coming soon. The look and feel of the touchpad is very nice. Other reviews made it sound like it would be a big brick, but I barely notice that it is a little thicker than the Ipad, and it feels very nice in my hands. In a week or two I'll have the HP Case, and I won't have any worries about finger prints. Fingerprints on the Ipad screen were just as much of an issue, and I find myself needed to wipe it clean occassionally. As for the back, no concerns there.Here's to HP doing a great job with their first WebOS pad out of the gate, and looking forward to the apps that will be coming.

I have been using the Touchpad for a while, and have found it to be very well made and refined. It just works well, in spite of all the nit-picking reviews you may have seen. I am not missing any functionality, all of the necessary apps are available and well done. WebOS is a silky smooth OS and really makes the tablet a pleasure to use, in stead of getting in your way like some other tablet OS's. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a fully functional tablet that is more than just a toy or status symbol.

I admit that I was very hesitant to purchase this product since it was no longer supported. I had wanted it for a long time and had missed the $149 sale. In a quick decision, we decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I did some more research, including reading all the negative reviews posted here. I am pretty tech savvy and have experience with many tablet computers. I own an iPad at home. I have also tested tablets at my job including the samsung galaxy, the cl900, and the HP slate. I was going to wait a month to write my review, but after playing with it all morning, I just could not wait. I was quite annoyed by the lack of brain cells that some of the other reviewers have. We have both the ipad and the touchpad and we love them both. Let me say that I have not even optimized my touchpad yet. This review is right of the box without even updating the thing.It was stated that the touchpad takes a long time to boot and that there is no progress indicator. The truth I that it does not take all that long to boot at all, might even be less than my iPad. Most tablets that I have tested do not have an indicator bar.It was stated that the touchpad freezes a lot. I have had mine all morning... Been playing with it off and on for 9 hours. No freezing at all and battery life is great. Maybe this person got a bad apple out of the bunch.it was stated that there is a lack of apps. Well, that is to be expected. Their are not a lot of apps out for any new OS. If you are a person who is looking for a wealth of apps, then you should know better than to buy this. Just wait until there are more available. I bought an IPAD 2 64 gig 3g Verizon model the first week it came out. I bought it online. I received it 3 1/2 weeks later from china. It was amazing for the first 20 hours. The apps were so unbelievable. I have a touch, and it is so much better. On the second day, it started trying to shut down. The battery was at 80%. I tried shutting it off and could not. I called apple. I bought the extra care plan for 90 dollars so they are going to help me. Right? Wrong. The first representative we talked to had us restore it to the factory settings. It took 1 hour to download the 660 mg file. We then restored it to the factory settings. It started working perfectly. We were so happy. The problem was solved! I watched videos and played with it for hours. I ran the battery down and plugged it in overnight to charge. The next morning the problem was back in spades. It then started doing new things like flashing on and off. I went on the website and asked a specialist to call me again. She put me on hold. She was gone for a little while. When she came back, she said that I needed to mail it back to them to REPAIR it. I said What? I have the apple care plan and was told that you would send me a replacement. I have not even had this thing 2 days. She said that the other representative lied to me, and that she could not lie to me. I have 2 options. I can take it to the Apple Store (nearest one 165 miles away) or I can mail it and have it repaired and they will send the same one back to me. She made me an appointment at the store. I am driving the 165 miles to take it back. The second representative (a supervisor) told me that they would send me a replacement if I gave them a credit card and let them charge another 900 dollars for it. When they received the old one back, they would charge it back to me.I have had a kindle for years. The day I saw it on the Oprah show was the day I fell in love with it. I bought one the same day. The first kindle i received was great except the internet would not work. I called Amazon and they shipped me out a kindle the SAME DAY! I got it a couple of days later and loved it. It worked perfectly. I upgraded to a DX and have never had a problem. If you want to see a video of what it is doing, you can go to you tube and watch it. My username is caulret. I love Amazon and their amazing customer service!Edited 4-16-11I took it back to the Apple store. The people at the Plano Apple store were awesome. They did not want to give me my money back, but we negotiated with them and they ended up putting it back on our credit card with some creative measures. A more timid person would have had to take an apple gift card. This was all they said that they could do at first, but I held my ground. I might buy this product again at a local Best Buy when they come available. If I decide to do that, I will edit this review. This was my true experience, and I wanted to share it.

I've done a ton of research on tablets, and ultimately decided on the iPad 2. I like the customization of android, but in the end it came down to the stability and the vast amount of apps. Before considering buying an iPad I was wondering why people would not shut up about how many apps there are, well now I really do get it. While some of them aren't very useful for me, there are quite a few i would say that are very well designed and extremely useful and just plain entertaining. I really hated the fact that there was no flash, and no true multiple tasking, but after taking a chance on the iPad I realized I really didn't notice the flash too much, however, the lack of true multitasking can be frustrating at times. The iOS definitely needs an update, but for the first time user it will be a pleasurable experience. The quality of the ipad is incredible, and the experience from startup to actually using the device was impressive to say the least. The screen is beautiful and the screen is extremely responsive. Oh, and not to forget, the battery life is unreal at a true ten plus hours of browsing and streaming video and audio.The Internet browsing experience is very nice, I've had no issues at all. The web pages render perfectly and overall is a blast to use ( even without flash).I would whole heartily recommend the iPad 2 to anyone seeking a device that allows you to browse the web, check email, play games, check and pay bills, loves creating anything at all, or just wants to sit on the couch and watch some Netflix. The iPad isn't flawless but at this price it is very fair for what you get. If you are looking to totally replace your laptop, it's possible, but it just depends on what you really use it for. I personally replaced my laptop with this device and never looked back.Hope this helps.

I can not believe the educational programs, books, videos, and games etc that come with this tablet. well worth the $199 from Toys R us.The Nabi is really user friendly. I could be partial as I own an android phone.My daughter is 4 and has the Leapster and Fisher Price IXL which she loves but this will bring many much more hours of fun and education. I am so glad I do not have to purchase expensive cartridges or disks to download!!I can't imagine buying much more apps for the Nabi for a lengthy time as sooo much is included.regarding some of the reviews: the on/off and volume button: I didn't have to remove the gel cover to use these. This was purchased for my 4 year old (Jazz) who is a "little Techie". I saw this tablet and knew it would be a great tablet for him to use. When opening it its kind of tough to get out the box but that isn't a big issue. The Nabi comes within the cover currently so it's no need to have to apply that. I did have to peel the cover back to to get for the power button,which kind of defeats the goal in the case- but I'm sure using the new covers this wont be an issue. One small thing I noticed is in the event you push the nabi all they way towards the left , while inside the case, then it is possible to access the power button while the case is on. The volume buttons are effortless to access even with all the case on which os a plus.The set up was extremely easy and user friendly. I entered all required info and got my conformation email in about 2-3 min.I had to actually "Play" using the Nabi to make sure it would be challenging enough for my son and I was extremely impressed with how "Kid friendly" the Nabi was. The apps were so unbelievable. I have a touch, and it is so much better. On the second day, it started trying to shut down. The battery was at 80%. I tried shutting it off and could not. I called apple. I bought the extra care plan for 90 dollars so they are going to help me. Right? Wrong. The first representative we talked to had us restore it to the factory settings. It took 1 hour to download the 660 mg file. We then restored it to the factory settings. It started working perfectly. We were so happy. The problem was solved! I watched videos and played with it for hours. I ran the battery down and plugged it in overnight to charge. The next morning the problem was back in spades. It then started doing new things like flashing on and off. I went on the website and asked a specialist to call me again. She put me on hold. She was gone for a little while. When she came back, she said that I needed to mail it back to them to REPAIR it. I said What? I have the apple care plan and was told that you would send me a replacement. I have not even had this thing 2 days. She said that the other representative lied to me, and that she could not lie to me. I have 2 options. I can take it to the Apple Store (nearest one 165 miles away) or I can mail it and have it repaired and they will send the same one back to me. She made me an appointment at the store. I am driving the 165 miles to take it back. The second representative (a supervisor) told me that they would send me a replacement if I gave them a credit card and let them charge another 900 dollars for it. When they received the old one back, they would charge it back to me.I have had a kindle for years. The day I saw it on the Oprah show was the day I fell in love with it. I bought one the same day. The first kindle i received was great except the internet would not work. I called Amazon and they shipped me out a kindle the SAME DAY! I got it a couple of days later and loved it. It worked perfectly. I upgraded to a DX and have never had a problem. If you want to see a video of what it is doing, you can go to you tube and watch it. My username is caulret. I bought the iPad 2 wifi 16g to take with me to Afghanistan. When I first recieved it, it was amazing. It was new, flashy, fast, the charge lasted forever and all my friends wanted to play with it. After about a week or two, the battery didn't seem to stay charged as long. It wasn't that big of a problem though, because I was never far from a plug. When I got to Afghanistan is when I lost all respect for the iPad 2. The lack of constant signal caused apps and updates to half download which left permanent gliches in the programs and the main screen as well, that I cannot get rid of. Problems, that none of my friends with other brand's tablets had. The battery life was almost cut in half and its a hassle to do anything with it now because of the poor state of apps and the whole iPad itself. I would recommend this if you will always have perfect signal and never be more than 10 feet away from a plug.

It does not look or feel cheap like many gray market tablets from China.Guess where this one was made? It has sensitive resistive screen, but if you have been using your Android phone, equipped with capacitive screen, you will need a little bit of time to get used to different way of touching the screen.It works great with just finger touch (actually, but nail),but for the precise touch without magnifying the screen - stylus is very helpful. The screen is very clear and bright.It has very sensitive buttons which are lit when touched. The battery life is great.The sound is not very loud, but loud enough to listen to the news, etc. You can listen to music, but the sound quality is much better using earphones (included).It has USB (full size) and HDMI ports and expandable memory via microSD, it also has 4GB memory. It comes with basic applications installed, but you can add more from Appslib (also preinstalled) or download directly from the web.Customer service from Adorama, where I got mine, was absolutely fantastic. Coby website has a lot of helpful tips with video, FAQs,etc. Have not tried their customer service due to no need, but read reviews that they are great. Cons:Very sensitive buttons. Yes, I mentioned it earlier as a positive, but it is a negative as well. The buttons react even to the slightest accidental touch, so you are kicked out of where you were easily. The good thing is the return button will bring you back also easily, but it can be frustrating at times. It comes with a black sleeve, which looks nice, but it is not protective enough. It will definitely protect the unit from scratches,but it does not give enough of protection to the screen if you carry your unit in a purse.It fits the unit like a glove, but due to nice tight fit is activates very sensitive power button. It was the reason why I drained my battery. I turned the unit off and then put the sleeve on and it activated power button and turned the unit on without me knowing it. I am planning to get one of those leather cases, maybe with USB keyboard,from eBay.There is no easy way to root it yet.Forums also do not have a solution yet. Overall, it is a great gadget. I did a lot of research and looked at many units in different price range. I was looking first for the unlocked unit with 3g-4g capability, but I have already got my Android Dell Venue with this capability.I decided it would be not wise to pay for data for both units, or keep swapping a SIM card between them, when I can just tether my Venue to connect Coby to the Web.There are tons of free hot spots in my area, so did need tethering so far.There are unlocked 3G units (Huawei, Viewsonic), but you pay almost twice you would pay for Coby.You can get Samsung Galaxy or Dell Streak for $199, but then you are stuck with the data plan for two years. I did not even consider iPad. I can not justify to pay 3x (4x -5x more for added storage) for the unit. The Appslib is similar to Android Market, but has mush less choices. I found out that do not need that many choices any way. You are installing only so many applications. I downloaded Adobe Flash 10.1 and Skype Light Beta directly from the web, which was very easy. Googles Flash.apk and Skype.apk on my Coby.I found out that not all the applications which are running on my Dell Venue run the same way or work at all on Coby.But was ready for that knowing that Android 2.2 is not a tablet OS and some limitation should be expected. It did not make my experience less enjoyable.

I was an owner of the previous model of the 7" Kyros (the MID7015). I was happy with it, despite its limitations and flaws. I bought this one with hopes it was merely a fix of the previous version. It is not. It is an entirely different product. Everything has been improved, including external controls and speakers. It has a much higher quality build in every way, and all the features have been improved. The software, Android 2.2, works much better and it is very fast. Its camera, microphone, stereo speakers, and faster CPU have resulted in a tablet which is very useful without any apparent flaws. I first bought the 7015 after trying a Nook and realising it would be perfect if it only was unlocked. This tablet has surpassed all of those specifications I had in mine, and still is a very good price. The one thing is that it is a resistive touch screen. This means it needs pressure. I wanted such as screen so I wouldn't always get fingerprints over it. The Kyros 70 series all have such screens, and an included stylus. This model does not come with the same jacket its predecessor had (it has a good sleeve though) and it does not hold the stylus in the case.As with the others, this device does not have the Google Market. It has Applib. However, one can easily install the Amazon Appstore on it (go to the Amazon site, give email address, and download it from email sent by Amazon). I have not rooted this device because there is no need (I did on the 7015). I use Opera Mini for web browsing and the included Browser for watching Youtube videos.Games such as Angry Birds render and run fine on this device, although, I have not extensively tested such apps on it. It is also a good device as a book reader, with the app of your choice (Kindle for me), and it is more versatile, but less expensive, than comparable devices.

I just tested one of these and was able to quickly install Android Market, Adobe Flash, Netflix, and a bunch of other apps. All of the applications that I installed work well and this tablet is NOT slow. I am very pleased with the performance so far. I have used an iPad2 extensively before testing a Coby Kyros 1024. For the money you can't beat the Coby Kyros 1024 with the capacitive multi-touch screen. Sure the iPad2 is awesome but not for $500+. The Kyros is priced right and actually very easy to use. For those that are griping about the screen, turn up the screen brightness, the setting is under "Settings". I was also about to gripe about the screen but I discovered the setting was set to absolute low. Just spend a little time on getting to know the Kyros user interface Android 2.2. If you already have an Android phone you should have no problems. I've been testing the Kyros for 2 days and have figured out just about everything concerning navigating the tablet and customizing screens, very easy. I also find the styling of this tablet to be very nice. While not as thin as the others, it is still thin, definitely thin enough for me. In conclusion, I highly recommended the Kyros 1024 tablet!NOTE: The web cam is not the greatest, works well enough though. When video conferencing (video out from you to the other party) using your "front camera" is NOT supported on any Android 2.2 devices at the moment, including the Kyros. YOU CAN VIDEO CALL AND SEE THE OTHER PARTY but they can't see you. Fring works well for video calls if you want to do that. The Kyros does not have a rear camera. While the iPad2 has both a front and rear camera, I have never used either for video conferencing. I have used the Kyros front camera for recording video email via the Yahoo Mail application I installed from the Android Market.

I wanted an Android Tablet so I purchased 1. Did not need or desire to ever compare it to Ipad. But all these reviews on the net and right here on Amazon that give negative reviews in the Xoom make me suspicious. I mean, the Ipad is actually a great piece of hardware as well as the Apps are optimized to perform well. But this constant bickering of Ipad is much better than this or that's ridiculous. I watched a video review on Youtube of a guy who gave the edge within the majority of categories towards the Xoom, but chose and praised the Ipad inside the end. I hate Itunes and being forced to utilize that interface. I like simple connections with flexibility. Ipads are simple and simple to make use of like a toy, Honeycomb tablets are much more for individuals who prefer to customize and want more freedoms. If any individual spends per week or two on the Xoom and is honest, there isn't significantly to not like. It's super quick, feels solid and performs amazingly nicely. I was lucky enough to wake up early today and go to Memory Express in Edmonton and they had one. Stores received a limited amount of tablets and they were all sold out within hours, including here on Amazon. I've been playing with this thing for hours now and so far I've only had great experiences with it. The main feature for me is the remote desktop: you can access your PC, whether it's a Mac or a PC, if they're both connected to your home wi-fi connection. You can control your PC from anywhere and use all of its features. I watched a HD movie and worked on MS Word docs, everything went smoothly.The tablet doesn't weigh much for its size and the IPS screen is amazing, it's the same screen used on the iPad 2. I'm not a person who needs to buy products made by just one brand. I like Apple and I own a iPhone 4, but when it came to deciding which tablet to buy, I went for the Transformer because it offers me a tablet/netbook function, the best of both worlds.The tablet itself has a microSD card slot so I already have 32GB more to use it. The docking station (which can be purchased by 149.99) has 2 USB ports and 1 SD Card slot. You can edit Microsoft Office docs on it using Polaris Office, it's great and this app comes pre-installed on it. Playing mp3s or acc files on it it's great too. You can use the app MyNet to play music from your own PC or Mac, via bluetooth.I'm playing SNES games using SNESoid app and using a Wiimote/Classic Controller via Bluetooth and everything works great! It has native email (which Blackberry Playbook doesn't) and you can sync your calendar and contacts easily. It has full flash compatibility. For $399, there's nothing on the market with these specs. The Motorola Xoom has similar specs and it costs $200 more. It doesn't give you the option to attach a docking station with all those slots. When I buy computers, I want to be able to upload content to it easily, or transfer files from it easily as well. The Apple system is ok but needing iTunes for everything is kinda like a dictatorship. I had to jailbreak my iPhone to be able to play SNES games on it, or even listen to music on Grooveshark. That's where the Android Market comes in.You can download any apps you want, any developer can create apps for it, it's a "free" system. It's not as wide as the App Store, but it's getting bigger and bigger by the minute. I downloaded the Kindle app and already transferred all my e-books to it (I also own a Kindle and I love it).There are some quirks that have to be tweaked with Honeycomb 3.0 OS and that's something Google is working on. That's easy since updates will be released (an update is scheduled in 2 days). So that will improve the overall performance of the OS. But I honestly didn't have any issues with it, I really like Honeycomb 3.0 so far.I definitely recommend this thing for people who want to use their tablets as an extension or even a replacement to their laptops. Asus has hit a home run with this one, since it costs much less than anybody else and its specs are great. It's hands down the best purchase I've had under 400 bucks. The docking station is sold out anywhere else but I pre-ordered it on Amazon and I'm hoping to get it in a couple of weeks. I'll post a video with the combo once I get everything up and running. I'm a iOS person who's welcoming Android with open arms!Review Update: Apr 29 2011 - Ok, so I've been using my Transformer for a few days so I'd like to add a few pros and cons to this review.Pros: beside what's been mentioned above, I noticed that: - multitasking is really easy on the Transformer. You can quickly jump from one app to the other, check e-mails, browse something on Wikipedia, listen to music and even have your Skype session open at the same time. I was chatting with my dad and multitasking and had no issues. The Skype app needs updates, but that's nothing to do with Asus.- File Manager: this feature is great! You don't have to hook up your Transformer to your computer all the time to move, copy or paste files. You can create new folders and even transfer files from your microSD card straight to it. I transferred a movie from my microsd Card folder (path is rootremovable to access microSD files) to my Movies folder and it was very quick. And I didn't need to plug it in in order to access or move the files.- Widgets: Your Desktop Area (Or Asus Launcher) is very wide so you can add many widgets to it, and they're very handy. That's something that can't be done on the iPad 2. Mind you Widgets can affect the speed a bit, but nothing noticeable at all. Those people running speed tests between iPad 2 and the Transformer need to bear that in mind.- Weight: believe it or not, it doesn't feel heavy at all for its size.Cons: ok, so here it is: -smudges on screen - it's a fingerprint magnet but all tablets are, so not a big deal. I'm cleaning it whenever needed using a nice cloth (the one that I use for lenses) with a bit of water/alcohol and it looks pristine after that. Let me know if you find a better way to clean fingerprints.It doesn't need wiping on a daily basis. I looked it up and for IPS screens, the best way to clean it is to use a mix of distilled water and alcohol, but I'm using tap water. I like this thing so much that I would buy another one tomorrow if something happened to it! (wait, maybe not tomorrow, it's still sold out everywhere)-HD video playback in Fullscreen mode using the YouTube App: ok, this might be Honeycomb-related and therefore something that can be dealt with via future updates. You might notice a bit of choppy frames here and there. I find the iOS more stable for this type of playback. But there's no problems playing HD video from your microSD card or even if you upload a HD video to the Transformer hard drive, you won't have problems watching it. There's more than enough RAM to support HD video streaming.-charger: I'm planning on using it all the time, so the cord is not long enough. If I have it on a desk, I need a power bar or outlet really close by, to leave it plugged in if I wanna save some battery. Well, tablet + docking gives you 16 hrs of battery... so you really don't have to have it plugged in. But this suggestion could be emailed to Asus so they could release a charger with a longer cable, that would be sweet. Other observations: Camera: not that great, it's an average camera. Am I gonna use it for super important pics? Definitely not, I got a nice camera for that. But for daily use, it's not too bad.***UPDATE June 13*** - I've been using the TF for 6 weeks now, and I also have the keyboard dock, which I got 2 weeks ater getting the tab. I can safely say it has become my main "go to" device: web browsing, music, movies, games, word processing, reading books and comics, news, remote desktop, you name it. I still use my PC and my smartphone but not as much as I use the tablet.- For people who wonder if light bleed gets worse as time goes by: I was lucky enough to get a unit with no light bleed other than a tiny spot (barely noticeable) on the left side of the tablet, and it's been the same since day 1. But compared to my friend's iPad, I can safely say mine has no light bleed whatsoever. Some of the newer batches got units with really bad lemons but I think this was due to ramping up the production like crazy. I heard they manufactured 300,000 units in June so I think they'll improve their quality control dept and make spanking sharp units now.- Honeycomb 3.1: Asus was one of the first ones to release the 3.1 update and it fixed the YouTube app HD video issue (at least on mine). I think 1080p is overkill on a 10.1 inch screen so the 720p HD on the YouTube app works like a charm. Playing movies straight out of a SD card or USB drive is easy and there's no lag either, so feel free to pack lots of multimedia and play straight out of them without having to use your device's internal memory.Touchscreen is much more responsive, browser is faster, animations flow more smoothly, full gamepad compatibility via USB, better "relationship" between dock and tablet. What really bugged me about 3.0 was that when I used the dock a lot of features seems to be toggled on/off. That has never happened after 3.1. So, overall, the update fixed a whole bunch of bugs and made the experience even better.- Wrapping it up: battery life is great, using the keyboard to type long texts is handy... and I was able to tether the TF to my iPhone via w-fi, so now it works as a 3G-like tab. I've done both bluetooth and wi-fi tethering. Wi-fi is faster but bluetooth saves battery life. I basically do it to use Google Maps and GPS, and it's been great so far. I know they're releasing a 3G Transformer in the summer, but I don't need one since I don't wanna pay more fees to my carrier, and sign another 1 year contract just for more data plan. I can use this as a 3G alternative whenever I need a bigger screen. It works with the iPhone and I know it does work with Android devices, but I'm not sure if works with Blackberry phones. Let me know if you wanna know more about tethering and I'll be glad to help.6 weeks after purchasing the TF, I'm still very pleased with my device.UPDATE August 3rd 2011 - Honeycomb 3.2 main features - I got my 3.2 update a few days ago... there's just a few things that were updated, or changed. It wasn't as significant as 3.1, but here's what I noticed about 3.2: compatibility zoom for fixed size apps - it helps with apps that are not designed to run on larger screens like 10.1 inches. I tested it and it's actually a great improvement, compared to what it was in 3.1Media sync from SD - I already did that before, but now you can load any media straight from the microSD card (this is more for Xoom owners)I don't think there were any changes on high def videos, I think it still outputs in 720p, no true 1080p yet on youtube and stuff, but like I said before, 720p is more than enough on a 10 inch screen.Better hardware acceleration, updates to widgets and Movie Studio app, now Honeycomb can also run on 7 inch tablets, and some other minor ones... I'm enjoying Honeycomb while it lasts, since it will phase out in a few months (Ice Cream Sandwich is coming). Overall, I'm still having loads of fun with the Transformer!

The only caution I give someone before buying this is to know what they are getting, 90% of the negative feedbacks I have seen on this item were entirely the customers fault for not being properly informed about the product. Don't get a non-Apple product and expect to use iTunes, don't get a wi-fi only tablet and then gripe about no phone capability, and please don't buy it for the camera (yes it has one but no phone or tablet really takes good pics). For what it does it is a great platform. I can browse the internet almost as fast as on my 3.4 gHz-6 GB ram computer and downloading a 1000-page kindle book takes about 20 secs. Works GREAT as book reader. Battery really does last about 10 hours (was just using as book reader the other day and it lasted about 13). And having the USB and SD card slots is very handy for easy sharing of pics/data from one device to another. I highly recommend getting a case and screen protectors to help protect your tablet; got one of the AmCase screen protectors and they fit perfectly and are relatively easy to apply. Overall this is a great product that so far has exceeded my expectations.

Finally, a non iPad tablet that's both technologically on par (and here and there superior) with the 'leader' AND reasonably priced AND doesn't force us, the paying customers, into some 'ecosystem' mandatory straightjacket.While not perfect, the Transformer offers a great deal when it comes to features and expandability and it's the clear price leader at this time. And, of course, there's the open Honeycomb and the freedom that a reasonably open OS gives you without having to wait for jailer's okay - no need to jailbreak. You are free by default as you should be. I so wanted an open Wi-Fi tablet so maybe I am a little overenthusiastic but I totally jumped on this one when it became available because it's the first non-iTablet that actually makes sense IF you don't care about 3G/4G. I've only been using the Transformer for a couple of days and I haven't reached the top of the learning curve so I'm not going to write a lot about the various apps but I've had enough time to get to know the hardware part and basic capabilities and, for someone quite skeptical when it came to 'tablets' all I can say is that I am impressed, especially when comparing it with the other tablets out there. And this is why:- Price - beats all the others at the time I'm writing this.- Display size - 10.1", 16x9 (wide screen). Can't really compare it with the iPad because iPad's 9.7" screen is in a 4x3 format - more square inches but movies show much better on a 16x9 screen.- Resolution - 1280x800 translates in 30% more pixels than iPad's and it's a beautiful, bright image. However, you can't really use it outside unless it's a cloudy day. For reading on the beach, there's the Kindle :)- Internal memory - 1 GB is twice as much than iPad's (better multi-tasking) and on par with the more expensive Xoom.- Processor - 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 (2 x Cortex A9) is on par with Xoom, clock speed similar with iPad 2.- Storage - 16 GB, same as iPad 2 but Xoom comes with 32GB. Expandable through microSD.- Weight - about 1.5 lbs., comparable with iPad's and Xoom's- Cameras - 5MP rear camera for picture or video-taking and a 1.2MP front facing for video chat. Quite happy so far but there is no flash.- Speakers - 2 SRS on the sides so they won't be muffled if you lay it flat. I believe the iPad has only one.- Charging - via wall connector or USB but it took overnight to fully charge the tablet over USB - expected because tablets come with larger batteries. The dedicated port does it in a couple of hours.- Battery life - I was able to do 7-8 hours on a full charge, not as good as iPad but close.Other features/capabilities include Bluetooth, GPS, Flash (haven't installed the upgrade yet), remote control of Windows and Macs (it works).ERGONOMICSThe Transformer is slightly heavier than the iPad but not significantly so. The 16x9 format is very good for movie viewing and, because it's wider, it makes for better integration with the dock expansion.I like the mostly glass front with a little metal on the edges but the plastic back is so-so. It's solid but you can squeeze it if you really try - it gives to pressure.The screen is responsive to touch. I haven't been a heavy 'touch' user until the Transformer so I am not going to make any comparisons but I am pleased. The fine resolution makes serious multitasking not only possible but also practical. The Transformer has more pixels than the iPad and it shows.THE DOCKI must confess that even though I'm the current user, I bought the Transformer for one of my kids - because he did so well in school but he's getting it in a month or so on his birthday - and I decided to splurge a little, ordering the 'dock'. Hasn't arrived yet - back ordered - but someone I know has one and I was able to test-drive it for about one hour.I haven't used it extensively but, anyone who's used netbooks will immediately recognize one as soon as the Transformer plugs into the keyboard-plus expansion. Besides the physical keyboard which integrates well with the OS and adds lots of dedicated buttons, the dock has a built-in battery, 2 extra USB ports and a SD card port. My impression is that, once plugged into the dock, it charges the tablet and all power comes from the dock's battery for as long as the battery has power. As for how it feels... let me say that I'm a lot more comfortable with a full size keyboard..When docked you can actually fold the Transformer closed with the dock as the keyboard bottom and you end up with something that's hard to distinguish from a netbook, only it's running an Android OS.MY EXPERIENCEI am still getting myself used to a touch-driven OS and the built in apps and I didn't get a lot of third-party apps but not everything ran - tech support told me that not everything 'Android' will automatically run on Honeycomb so... try before you buy :) . However, whatever ran it did so without major problems. Except... playback was sometimes choppy when on full-screen mode but maybe it was so because I was running half a dozen other things at the same time.I should note that WiFi integration was flawless and, indeed, once on my local network, I was able not only to stream from media servers but to also open remote sessions on some of our Windows 7 and Windows Home Server machines.MY EVALUATIONAfter a few days of use I am very happy with my purchase and I am considering a second for my other teen kid - but I may wait for the next great tablet because I don't expect the Transformer to stay the top non-Apple tablet forever. I wrote 'top tablet' because this is the best WiFi tablet deal you can get today.The Transformer has a few minor issues: USB charging, the not-so-hard back, a little on the heavy side but the pluses overwhelm the 'issues' and the dock expansion is extremely innovative and it can even be a good 'transition' prop for those familiar with netbooks - but it does come at a price.I love my Transformer and Amazon's rating for 'I love it' is 5 stars.-- >> Brush your teeth, it's the law! <<

I have had the Xoom and the Acer Iconia and I must say I am puzzled about how poor those two are. Xoom is way overpriced and the screen is embarrassing. If you are competing with the iPAD and have the nerve to charge the same price, at least you can make a comparable screen. The Xoom screen always appears faded like there is a haze on top. Even at max brightness, text is never crisp. Their LCD does a disservice to the physical resolution.The Acer is bulky and not very stylish. The screen is also a bit washed out. The device can get bogged down at times and there is no native Exchange support. Major oversight! The XOOM and the EEE Pad both have native Exchange support.And now my opinion of the ASUS EEE Pad. Absolutely sexy device, very thin, great IPS display on par with the Ipad1 and 2. The device does not get bogged down and everything flows beautifully which begets more use. The screen is precise, crisp and responsive. Text is clear at any brightness. Well done ASUS!Lastly, if there is anything not on par with the iPAD, it would be the OS which falls just short of IOS polish. Honeycomb does beat the the iPAD with its notification system, but this will be short-lived since Apple announced today that it too will have a notification system this Fall.

I've been playing around with the Zii O for a couple of days by now. It's not a perfect device, but it's really good for the amount i paid.First up - I've been looking for a tablet to watch my movies without bringing my Macbook along. I'm a real TV/Movie buff, and i have tonnes to catch up on. That's a huge reason why i didn't want to get the iPad; It's expensive, required tiresome video conversion, and i thought it was too heavy after playing with it in the stores.The Good:- Supported movie formats are more than what i need: Most of mine are in the usual .avi formats, and i used to spend about 6 minutes on each episode using Mac's iSquint to convert them into accepted .mp4 formats. With this tablet, all i need to do is to just drag and drop it. Everything just works and plays great.- MicroSD Card Slot: I have a 32GB MicroSD to go along with the 8GB Zii O. It's really convenient because 32GB can hold alot of videos and music, and the tablet allows direct playback from the microSD. You don't need to copy it to the on-board memory in order for it to work.- Apps: Here's a key point - You'll need to go into Settings > Apps to allow installation for non-Android Market Applications. It wasn't enabled by default. Once you enable this, just google around for Android installation files (.apk) and you'll be able to install stuff smoothly. So far, i've installed Evernote and Kindle; Everything syncs and works perfectly.Some of you may have concerns about there not being support for the Android Marketplace. It wasn't that big of a deal for me because a friend pointed me to getjar.com, and there was a whole lot of .apk files to download. Just use the Zii O browser to access the site, download, and they'll prompt you for installation. No need to use your computer at all. (If getjar prompts you to select your device, just select any mobile device. It'll work fine.)- This may be controversial, but i like the resistive screen. It's not fancy like those capacitive touch, but it works with my gloves on, and even better with the provided stylus, so i'm happy about it.- Other stuff i like: Audio quality is really good. HDMI TV-Out to my 42-inch screen works, though the video looks a little pixelated, something to blame on my original source file.Things Which Can Be Improved:- No Android Marketplace integration. (A small issue, but solvable through my above-mentioned point)- A little stingy on the package contents; I appreciate the stylus, but would have been nice to include a pair of earphones, or even the TV Out cable.- There are 4 touch-buttons at the bottom for easy access to "Home", "Back" etc buttons. They should be backlit so that i can see more clearly in the dark.---I hope i've provided everyone with an objective pro/cons list. Personally, i like it, and i think it's great for anyone who's looking for a low-cost tablet which just works.

this being my first droid, i am very pleased with it.the touch screen is very responsive. i dont watch youtube or anything like that so a flash player not being built it in ok. my only real complaint is the lack of support for the android market, but for anyone who knows how to use google that can be worked around.

There are many specifications-based reviews out there on the Flyer, so I won't repeat those, and instead base this write-up off of my experience with HTC's device over the last few weeks. I have to start this review by saying that I've been a tablet PC user for years, and have found many recreational and business related uses for computers that have active pen input. But even my current tablet PC, an HP Touchsmart, can get tiresome to carry around all the time. I work with kids, and needed a backup device that was small, quick to turn on, and could be loaded with fun activities for children. That's where the Android tablets come in. I rooted a couple of Nookcolors, and instantly fell in love with the 7" form factor. So when I learned that HTC was going to be releasing a 7" tablet with some kind of active stylus, it sounded like the best of both worlds (small android tablet with pen input), and I knew I had to check it out.I have to say that when most people think of a stylus, they think of that plastic stick that they used to poke their old palm pilots with. That is NOT what this is, nor is it intended as a replacement for touch input. This pen input is intended as a replacement for pen and paper, as you might use when you draw or take handwritten notes. When you're talking about active pen input, you're looking for 3 things: Precision, pressure sensitivity, and palm rejection. I hate to be this blunt, but if you can't view a stylus as being anything other than that dead plastic stick from the old days of resistive screens, then this type of device just simply isn't for you.When I learned that the Flyer used N-Trig technology instead of the Wacom digitizers I'm used to, I was initially hesitant. I do a lot of artwork and handwritten notes on the Touchsmart, and while it's not perfect on the HP, the Flyer would have a lot to live up to. I knew I had to test it first in a store before I bought it, because if it didn't work well, I might as well stick with the rooted Nooks which did many of the same things and were half the price. The local Best Buy had the Flyer on it's release date and so I tried it out.I'll be the first to say that the pen experience on the Flyer is NOT up to the quality of the wacom tablet PCs. I don't know if it's the sensors, the N-Trig technology, or if it's simply how the Android OS handles pen input. It's not the size, as I have a Motion Computing slate that is near the same size, and the pen accuracy on that device is far better. However, having said that, it is worlds better than using a regular capacitive stylus on an ipad, galaxy tab, or other similar device. I tried using a nice capacitive stylus with my Nooks and it was no better than using my finger. The Flyer is a far better inking experience, and I feel comfortable drawing or taking notes with it. It only has a couple of levels of pressure sensitivity (thick and thin) as far as I can tell, but you can make a decent sketch with it if you concentrate. If you'd want it rated on a scale, I would say a finger is a 1, capacitive stylus a 2-3, tablet PCs a 7-8, and the Flyer would be a 5.Obviously I liked the inking enough to actually buy a Flyer even though I already had the Nooks and the Tablet PC. And since purchasing it, it continues to impress me. It's responsive, versatile, and durable. I can use it for games, drawing, notes, word processing, watching movies, streaming music from home, and just about everything else I could need from a media-consuption device. Better yet, many things listed as cons by others who have reviewed it have actually turned out to be related more to device settings (e.g., a washed out screen is because the autodimmer is set to low by default) and inadequately documented capabilities (e.g., standard microusb cables *do* work).As much as I like the Flyer, it's not perfect. Unfortunately much of that stems from the pen use...the main thing that sets it apart from the flood of other android tablets out there. The preciseness of the pen tip can only be used in a small range of preloaded apps that HTC included (the opposite end can be used as a regular capacitive stylus, but again, it's like fingerpainting). For notetaking, there's the Notes app, and for drawing you can either use the Notes app or the Kid Mode app through Zoodles. They're decent apps, but they're not great. Perhaps I have been spoiled by programs like Onenote and Autodesk Sketchbook on the PC. But even on android, there are better apps out there for drawing or notes, and yet the pen will not work with them at this point. I'm sure HTC had a reason for limiting the pen this way, but I've yet to hear what it is. Luckily, this is software based, not hardware based, so HTC and other developers may release apps and updates that would allow the pen to be used in a wider range of applications. And since the Flyer is so new, I would imagine that these kind of advances are right around the corner. So I could see the Flyer's "good" inking experience go to "great" pretty quickly if it's given the right kind of attention.Overall, it's a great little tablet. But, if you are not someone who likes to sketch or take notes, I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere. That's not to say that the Flyer is not a great all-around tablet. It is. It's fast, has a nice screen, great battery life, and a decent camera. But the main point of the Flyer is the pen. If you don't plan on using it for that purpose, you'll probably be happier with something else.Cheers!UPDATE 8-10-2011HTC has just released their SDK to the public/developers which includes the Pen input. This means that other developers can now start integrating pen input into their apps, and we are likely going to see some of the well known drawing apps, like Sketchbook Pro, be updated soon. One developer, the author of the Fresco drawing app, started working on it shortly after it came out. This change might easily earn the Flyer another star.In another development, it looks like HTC is working on a slightly larger Scribe-enabled tablet known as the Puccini, and it looks like it will ship with Honeycomb. Also, Lenovo is just about to release a Thinkpad Tablet (also with N-trig and Honeycomb), and by all appearances, the stylus appears to work across all apps as a form of input (not sure about the pressure sensitivity, though). My hopes are that the Flyer will get Honeycomb somewhere around the same time as the Puccini, and this update will allow the functionality of the Flyer's stylus to jump as it did with the Thinkpad.UPDATE 10-4-2011Well, I had hoped that I'd be able to update this with a description of how much more Honeycomb unlocks the potential of this little tablet. Unfortunately it's been two months, and the official build of Honeycomb for the flyer hasn't been released yet. However, I'd never post an update if I had nothing good to say. For those who are adventuresome, there is a leaked build of Honeycomb that you can install on your Flyer. The process doesn't look terribly hard, but it's not for the casual user either. Personally, I've decided to wait til the official version comes out.BUT, in even better news, the Flyer has dropped in some places (like Best Buy) to $299! I'm hoping this will mean that a lot more people can enjoy the tablet, and that will lead to greater interest in it by developers...which ends up being better for everyone.UPDATE 1-8-2012The official Honeycomb update was released last week. What can I say...for me, this is what the Flyer *should* have been when it was released over half a year ago. Now the pen works across all apps at least the same as your finger, and in a wide number of apps, you have features like pressure sensitivity and palm rejection.There are pros and cons for going over to Honeycomb, so for those Flyer owners who haven't done it yet, definitely weigh the benefits (the XDA Developers website is a great resource for this). It really depends on what you use your Flyer for. I would imagine that if you're a heavy pen user like I am, it will be a much easier decision.

I was a little weary about purchasing this at five hundred bucks and had no intention of ever paying that for a 7" screen seeing that an iPad was the same price, but after trying the 200 dollar K-Fire it opened my eyes to the 7" tablet world. I tried the K-fire for a few days and really liked it, but was missing the "real" android market and other choices. For only one hundred more than the K-Fire at best.. buy, I am very happy with getting this tablet. It has the full market, front/back cameras, 16gb, great build, etc. It was a no brainer for me. The Kindle is still a great device, but this just "flies" right by it.

Got a well kept used one (not on Amazon)for $250 - it's a well built unit (except for one miscue), solid, nice bright screen, and very responsive (even though it's not a dual core processor). The one miscue is the cheap and flimsy feeling plastic back cover that you need to open to insert the micro-SD card. Since it also serves as cover for the camera lens, I don't know why they made this part so chintzy. If they were going to make a removable cover section, might as well have made it a little larger and more sturdy and house a removable battery in it too.Having tried many other Android tablets, mostly less refined Archos units like Archos 70 and Nook Color, without a doubt this blow the cheaper units out of the water (I'm not about to pay $400 or more for high end Android tablets and I think anyone who does either got too much money for their own good or enjoys wasting it). One fault I did notice is the video playback - my compressed mp4 and avi movies did not sync well (sound and video mismatch - delay between the actual visual action and the accompanying sound). The wifi is very good - fast web browsing and snappy page loads. The digitizer pen functionality may be of interest to a small number of users but for majority, I would say the cost of the digitizer pen is an unnecessary expense. Let's face it, most people have problems just doing the basics under Android. Talking about Android (really do we have to?) - the unit comes with 2.3 and not Honeycomb, which HTC says will be out soon. Don't care what version of Android it is - the OS is still a work in progress and lacks the sophistication and smoothness of more mature OSs. As a long time computer user, I would rank Android still less polished and refined than even the old Palm or Window Mobile OS. Heck, even the old Windows Tablet OS has better functionality than Android. For novice users, the Android is a pain - try getting around myriad of steps necessary to fine tune under "settings", or get the wifi settings right. Finally, if you're caught up with "apps", just realize that most are small, rudimentary programs that are made to fit within the memory constraints of Android. Heck, my 8 year old HP Ipaq PDA has better apps than most that's available under Android.The beauty amout these tablets are it's size and portability and nice screen. Of the many of tablets out there, probably the HTC Flyer is one of the better ones. Just don't expect it to perform miracles, afterall, it's running Android.

I am not actually positive what the other reviewer is talking about, but what options Much more could you possibly want??I don't believe they sell a version that walks your dog and washes your vehicle. Outside of those things, this tablet does almost everything else under the sun.It really is genuinely surprising to me that men and women will plunk down $600+ for a tablet that has most likely 15% nicer fit and finish and probably 50% much less capabilities.There is certainly possibly not significantly of a use comparing this versus an iPad or a Motorola Xoom due to the pricing and sort of becoming an, "Apples vs. Oranges" comparison......BUT, for the money I paid, I would be foolish not to become thrilled with what I got and just how much I can get done with it.Movies, Music, Web-surfing, Email, Android Apps Market place (a surprising amount of cost-free apps. Check oneself, 100k+!), Quick, Very good battery life, you name it....this factor can do it and do it well.If I were going to adjust something about it, I would have to feel lengthy and challenging simply because so far at this price tag, I am just plain pleased.No complaints, and I in fact ended up buying an additional for our residence since it was finding utilized by all four of us.

I purchased this Coby Kyros 1125 because it has Android 2.3.3 expecting it to send out video when doing skype video chatting, but it does not. I have downloaded and installed at least 35 variations of the skype.apk from many Android forums but not one of them enabled me to send out skype video. You can see your skype caller, but they cannot see you because the Coby camera does not work on skype video. Perhaps you may be lucky in hunting down the correct skype apk that send/receive video. But I spent about 20 hours hunting in total, and it's ridiculous. Time to switch to another brand. The mic on this Coby 1125 is of inferior quality such that you have to speak 3 inches from the mic to be heard on the caller's end. I tested the mic quality by making a video with the .3mp built-in camera. When played back, the sound is inaudible unless you press your ear against the back speakers. Even when I downloaded an audio recording app the sound recording was just as pathetic. This 1125 is okay if you just want to play youtube or your own videos of various formats, wmv, avi, flv, etc. Surfing the internet or playing netflix are okay, but if you plan to use this 1125 for skype video chatting, then keep looking.When playing Netflix or your videos, the color looks washed-out. But for a 10" tablet under $250 for general surfing it is okay if you're not fussy.

This product states 4G in it's description but it is not. Additionally, it is not user friendly. You have to add apps from a secondary source and they are difficult if not impossible to load. I gave this as a gift and I believe I was misled by the product description and it's stated capabilities. Customer support told us THAT THIS TABLET IS NOT SUPPORTED FOR USE WITH GOOGLE ANDROID MARKET. WHAT A RIP!Note that despite the misleading product label "MID7015-4G" here on Amazon, this unit is a "MID7015", and 4G stands for 4GB (internal drive space), not 4G cellular wireless. It has no 4G modem. It also does not have a GPS receiver and no straightforward way to connect an external antenna. That is one thing I would have really liked it to do. So far I have not been able to get the webcam to connect to any video chat client but I only spent a few minutes working at it with Google Chat. Out of the box, all the webcam does is stares back at you, and the photo/video quality isn't the best. I'm pretty confident that can be remedied with some kind of app, either on the web or in one of the app stores. It does not have bluetooth. Many options exist in the slightly-more-expensive $250 to $350 range that do include these features; so if you'll use them (as I suspect many folks will), this isn't going to meet your needs. But, just to have a fun around-the-house or around-the-office e-reader, email checker, multimedia player, and basic web surfer, this is absolutely right on the money. And%

Just received this from Amazon. Surprised at price, features and accessories of this unit. I'll start with specs. that they don't tell you. It has 4gb of onboard space, 512mb of ram a 1ghz processor and a capacitive touch display (trust me, you want this type of display). Good specs. for the dollar. I purchased the 32gb class 10 (fastest transfer rate card) patriot micro sd card for this unit and it works perfect. The unit has a nice feel to it, looks pretty good and works even better AFTER I found a set of files that let me install android market on it. The app lib. market is a joke, but check youtube for a video with a zip file that resolves this in about 5 minutes once you unzip it on the device. That's why it only got 4 stars, for not having android market. It comes with a sleeve (stretchy), power adapter, micro usb to usb cable (to connect to your pc) and an adapter to allow connecting a flash drive to the unit to transfer files and headphones. This is the main reason I chose this unit, I need a usb port (which so many don't have)for work and something light. Battery life seems pretty good and connecting it to my wifi was a cinch. I will update this as time goes on, but if you're looking to give this as a gift, I think it's a nice one.

Pen is responsive, which makes this the initial possible pen tablet on the market! Now it truly is as much as the computer software to match this device. I've noticed that the Lenovo's sponsored app Dulynote both costs funds and is flawed, although the cost-free version, MaplePaint (from exact same firm in Android industry), operates a lot far better. Nevertheless I wish Lenovo would make it possible to manually shut off the touch (from the fingers) when a single utilizes the pen so 1 can lean the hand on the glass whilst writing (palm rejection is iffy). Even with out these capabilities I can use Maplepaint to take notes at conferences, which is especially well suited once they dim down then lights and normal pen and paper would not function. I also like the USB port to transfer files.

I have used an iPhone for going on two years and I don't see that changing for quite awhile, but I was always leery of the iPad because I always thought it was just a big iPod Touch, with a better screen. Well I started to look for a tablet about 5 months ago, and thought for sure, after the big uproar about the iPad 2, that I would have one soon. Well after trying in store several times, I just wasnt blown away. It just took my iPhone bigger, it didnt introduce anything new, it didn't change anything, the UI, had some slight modifications, and apps did look better on a bigger screen, but it wasn't nothing that blew away. Then came the touchpad.First I saw the commercial, then I found out about the open source movement inside of WebOS, and how unlike Apple, there was no cat and mouse games, Palm didn't support it, but didn't block it. I saw the UI, it was much appealing than Android, which to me looks chaotic and not the clean simplicity that we all come to expect from a google product. Although it wasn't as "nice" looking as iOS, and it didn't run as smooth as it, WebOS made up for it with true multitasking, and a clean enough looking UI to make an iOS lover happy.Then came the specs, full web access, web developers no longer need to build a site just for the device, the device can handle anything you through at it. It has been an experience for me, who has had to manage which sites I could view on my portable device and which ones I *had* to view on my pc, now my touchpad takes care of all of it.But enough about the pros, because there is some cons. Apps are limited compared to iOS (Not a huge con for me, give me a working Twitter client, an email client, and a couple games, and I'm happy, but I'm not everyone). The OS, has some flaws, which may be more to me learning to using the device than anything else, but the flaws are there. It seems sluggish from time to time, but an OTA update coming out soon should fix that. And it does need some improvement when it comes to handling documents, this maybe more of a personal presence but I feel any tablet should be able to handle any microsoft doc you throw at it.All in all, I love my touchpad, and see me using it more than my iPhone for most things. The flaws are there, but are very fixable, and I have faith in HP to fix them soon.

There is great news for those who bought the discounted Touchpad and either knew nothing about it or had heard that it was an inferior product.Nothing could be further from the truth. The HP Touchpad's WebOS is vastly superior to Android and iOS.These would be but words, if there was no evidence to back it up, so here it is.The constant cons/complaints from alleged professional reviewers go as follows.It is thicker and heavier than an iPad. Although that is true, it is not so heavy or thicker as to be an inconvenience and more importantly, part of the reason it is bigger is because of the superior hardware inside, notably the audio system/speakers. The stereo sound from a Touchpad is at least twice the volume and quality of the single speaker in an iPad, not to mention the added ambiance by having stereo over mono.Good hifi speakers are bigger and heavier than cheap tin can models, so if you want better sound like the Touchpad has, then the size will not matter to you one bit.Next complaint from the "pros" is that WebOS does not have as many apps as Apple. Again that is true but is it truly a problem? No, it is not. There are ample already available, and now with the news of more to come, there are and will be more than any one person might ever want to use. It is a non issue.Lastly comes the big one. The "pros" said it was slow, that it might jam up, that it could take too long to switch from horizontal to portrait mode. Those comments are only a semi truth. The fact is that if you operate it one app at a time like an iPad, then it not only isn't slow, it is faster than an iPad, specially after you have applied all the tweaks that are freely available on the internet. As an iPad is incapable of multitasking, there are no slowdowns in general, as the internal hardware is more than capable of handling any one single task at a time, whereas the Touchpad is a completely different type of device that multitasks, and just like a home computer, will eventually slow down if there are too many apps open at the same time. The "pros" reviews about slowing down are so unfair when they compare it to an iPad that the question becomes, were they paid by Apple to say that or are they all that ignorant. Even a child knows that too many applications open at the same time, spells slowdowns and maybe even a crash. To spell it out by citing an example, it would be like saying that Joe Blow never has problems eating one hotdog at a time, but he slows down when he eats 8 at a time. The scenario is ridiculous and the comparison is unjust.If it is justifiable to bad mouth a computer type product that slows down from too many open windows, then it would apply to every single computer in the world, except an iPad, that can't do more than one thing at a time. Now that the three main complaints have been addressed and proven to be non-issues, it is time to talk about why a Touchpad is such a superior machine. Any knowledgeable techie knows that the WebOS interface is the best of the group of multitasking tablet operating systems. iOS has a very nice interface too and some might argue that it is as good as that of the Touchpad, but it is not included in these comparisons, as it is not a multitasking system, therefore doesn't have to deal with many open apps at the same time. How could anyone discuss the various ways that Android and WebOS deal with multiple apps being open and include the iPad in that conversation, when the iPad can't even have multiple apps open?I fully recognize the value of an iPad and I perceive it as it is, a wonderful machine, well built, with an ultra simple interface that can be easily operated by young children and even IQ challenged individuals.The more sophisticated tablets that operate like computers, have common advantages and even common problems, that simply don't apply to a machine that does only one thing at a time.In short, the iPad is a type of toy that is also capable of surfing the internet, although not completely like the Touchpad, and it can use chat services like MSN Messenger and Skype, although it does not fully integrate Skype like the Touchpad does.Apple products have become a status symbol to own and they are generally high quality products, and the ipad fits perfectly into that category. Where it does not belong is in comparisons to computer like tablets, as the iPad is a type of toy and not a utilitarian device like the Touchpad.I own both an iPad and a Touchpad and can tell you that my Touchpad is a bit faster than my iPad, and 10 times more useful.............................................................. Added observations, Sept. 20, 2011. As per the review above, it isn't hard to guess that my Touchpad is much preferred over my iPad. (that my girlfriend has now appropriated and wouldn't let go of without a fight to the death.) Inspired by some long waits to open webpages (on the Touchpad), I thought it was time to do an internet browsing speed comparison between it and the iPad. We have Caribbean internet speed that is somewhat lacking when compared to even the slowest US plan, and a fast browser is critical for us, so as to not spend our lives waiting on webpages. To cut to the chase, this is what I discovered. When trying to compare the two, I was stunned to discover that the two units rarely landed on identical pages. The iPad would have a modified www address that might include the word "ipad" or "tablet" and it presented pages that have clearly been "tuned" for 25 million iPad users. If I went to Yahoo news, for instance, the iPad would give me different headlines than the Touchpad or a Windows PC. It's not as if I didn't already know that an Ipad couldn't open many webpages or youtube videos and that it simply won't let the user go to those pages that it can't deal with, but I never thought/knew that Apple was also controlling some of the www content. My initial reaction was to feel like I was in China, cut off from the rest of the world wide web. On the other hand, everyone is trying to control the internet, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc, so why shouldn't Apple be allowed to play in the same sandbox..... So...... You would like the results of the test, as would I. I simply could not make any true clinical observations, when the two machines rarely even opened identical pages. My non clinical observation was that they are similar in speed and neither could be declared the victor, except in terms of the Touchpad being able to connect with the normal web as we know it, as opposed to Apple's modified version. So instead of coming out of this with a webpage speed comparison between the two units, all it showed was what I already knew, that an iPad is a toy that has a lot of internet connectivity and many good computer uses, whereas the Touchpad is a computer that has some toyishness about it. That's impossible to do on the iPad. You can pause it and let it download, but you CANNOT do something else in the meantime, other than twiddle your thumbs and wait. If you want to buy a fantastic gift for the kids, it would be hard to beat an iPad. If you would like a touch tablet to do the same things you normally do on a computer, then the Touchpad is the machine for you.

I really like this tablet. Programs open and close quickly. I have not had a problem with the TouchPad slowing down in performance. Even though I've had many programs open and running at the same time.The lack of Apps is a minor problem for me. I've actually found that the web browser opens and plays everything thrown at it. I've enjoyed Crackle movies, Hulu+, Amazon Cloud Player (20 GB of music), Facebook Games. I don't need an app if a bookmark can do the same thing. I would like the ability to save a bookmark to the launcher.WebOS synergy is wonderful. Everything is linked together and easy to use.The audio is fantastic. The stereo speakers sound good and even have a little bass. Connect headphones to the tablet and you can really hear the Beats Audio.Battery life is good. The tablet is slick. I purchased a case, which is rubberized and fixes the uneasy feeling of it dropping.I have the Touchpad connected to a touchstone. It plays a slideshow of all of my linked pictures while it charges. I can now get rid of that Kodak Photo Frame and replace it with a better screen in the Touchpad.

An excessive amount of company and items coming through to me that I had to go to my personal computer to use or open. I like the wide size instead of the square from the Ipad, although you can find times when the depth could be good for browsing on the internet. I really like the dock along with the keyboard and it has replaced my living room laptop. It is not just a toy which is what I felt the Ipad was and why I returned the Ipad. Loved it but also costly for just media and not becoming in a position to work on it for enterprise or window apps. I play games on my Iphone and in between it and this Slate as well as a high overall performance desktop I've it all.Cons:I agree with other people that the win7 touch is nothing to shout about but passable until win8 comes. I'm still on the fence on whether to return this and wait for the Slate with win8. I'm just a little nervous that even even though win8 will upgrade on this it could not be optimized for it and the new Slate would be. But not having a release date yet for either I'm inclined to preserve this as I hate giving up useage now.The KEYBOARD is okay, but I was so upset that the directions had been to hold the power button down at the bottom in the keyboard to set the bluetooth. NO power button visible anyplace on keyboard. Called Samsung twice they couldn't tell me exactly where it was, and excalated to second tier who would call in 24-72 hours. Still haven't heard from them. But I Discovered IT! it's a tiny button on the right side in the cover for the batteries. Entirely not visible and nothing anyplace tells exactly where it is. Frustrating, maybe I am denser than the average bear and everyone else could figure it out in less than three days of waiting for Samsung. Apart from that it is fantastic, and now that I've the keyboard operating, I'm a pleased camper.

My company purchased this device to fill a small need in the mobile engineer/CAD user/Process Control user space. We suffered from the inability to be extremely mobile while traversing the manufacturing space of our facility, and things like standard tablets (iPad, etc.) couldn't handle software like AutoCAD stuff we needed, special process control & monitoring software, etc. And as well in a large corporate environment, standard is the name of the game and this is it.We've been successful using our corporate image on this with limited adaptation and have been able to use it with our secured wireless.The unit itself is a bit on the heavy side, battery life is lacking compared to what you'd think of for today's standard non-Windows tablets, and it gets a little warm when you use it. That all being said, the hardware seems high quality and it did fit the need we had for a Windows based slate device. I'd have no apprehension on recommending this with one caveat-- consider the touch screen really requiring the stylus most of the time and think of it more like a convertible table of the mid 2000's like a Lenovo X41 tablet, or something else that really does require the stylus for text input, selection box use, etc.

i bought this from apple because amazon didn't have it yet. I am middle- aged, love my nano, a kindle devotee from the first days, don't have a smart phone, and am a pc user. at first i was awed by the touchscreen and the resolution quality. images are gorgeous. but now, it is really annoying. too often the screen doesn't respond, and then reacts when you don't even know you're touching it. the word processing function has been limited and limiting from the start, for someone accustomed to microsoft. if you think in buying the ipad you are getting a compact, fast, light computer, you are not. it IS fast. a computer it is not. no flash player is definitely a hinderance. what it is great for is apps, games, (although the screen has been frustrating there too), watching movies and tv shows, some browsing on the internet, and as a portable photo album, because images are truly fantastic on the ipad. i find the screen very fatiguing on my eyes, and have the brightness level down almost as far as it can go. i would never dream of reading a book on it. kindle has nothing to worry about, as far as the ipad as a reading device. the fact i can't see the ipad screen outside, even in the shade, is also unfortunate, but i get it, that's a backlit screen.i am submitting this review not to bash apple, but to clarify a bit to people not familiar with macs and/or touchscreens what this device is about. would i buy this device again? not unless it sold for maybe $300. it is more a toy than a tool.

You will be able to: -Touch and pinch the screen to type words and move things around -Send and Receive Emails -Browse the Internet including Online Banking, Internet Shopping and more... -Listen to Music, including the Radio when there is a Wireless (Wi-Fi) connection -Watch Videos and Movies -Write and Print Letters (see the section on 'Printing' further down) -Download and Play Games -Become a Smarter Person (more on this later) -Display Pictures - it is an electronic Picture Frame too! -Take Pictures and Movies, if it has the onboard camera (iPad2 and newer) -Have a chat with the relatives abroad using Video Conferencing technology -Download THOUSANDS of books into a snazzy Book Reader that you can actually turn pages on the screen with -There are loads more - I'll leave them as a surprise if you decide to buy one :) You will NOT be able to: -Watch a special type of animation or movie using a technology known as 'Flash' - don't worry about this though, you'll hear lots of people complaining about it. I've postponed this review for a few months -- waiting to see how useful it would be after the newness wore off. So, the verdict is in: I put it in a black leather case and deliver sermons from it every week (written on a Mac and transferred to the iPad by "Print to PDF" at A5 size straight to a Dropbox folder, then transferred on the iPad from Dropbox to iBooks. It takes about 20 seconds). I prefer the iPad to printed sermon notes and wedding outlines because it's more easily hand-holdable, I can use a custom color scheme at no extra charge for ink, the print can be very large, I'm not wasting a bunch of paper, it's lighter, smaller, and more portable than a large-print Bible, and when talking to people after church I've got access to my calendar and address book so I can schedule appointments, get contact information, write reminders for that week's staff meeting, etc., -- all while standing in the foyer greeting members and visitors.I've also used it for presentations by connecting it to a vga projector input at the podium and utilizing the mirrored display. You aren't limited to Keynote for that although it does work well. But I've found it just as useful with iBooks, Bible software, and even YouTube player. The portability is fantastic -- disconnect the video adapter, slap the cover closed and walk away.Daily uses: mileage and expense tracking, keeping track of contacts, calendars & notes, video record-keeping, listening to Texas Rangers baseball broadcasts, web surfing, investment management, reading papers and books, and navigation. It's my favorite device for reading and responding to most emails.It can stand in for a computer in a pinch, which it had to recently when my laptop was put out of commission for a few days by a lightning strike. Using various apps most of the data I need on a daily basis is automatically synced wirelessly between the iPad, iPhone, and MBAir, so I still had my complete calendar and all my appointments (iCal/Google combo), access to all my email (IMAP gmail), all my notes (Evernote), vital documents (Dropbox), and the ability to research and write sermons, articles, and class presentations. It's capable enough that I can get by with leaving my laptop at the office most evenings. Yea!It's far more portable than even my MacBook Air. It's small and discrete enough to take into restaurants, tuck into the console in my car, and take into hospital waiting rooms without appearing insensitive to anxious family members. Instant on and off means you can pick it up to glance at the weather radar, or check an address, or take a note as easily as picking up an iPhone, but the size makes it much faster and easier to enter and view information. It's also large enough to share information with others around you. I use it daily and would replace it within a week if I lost it. 5 stars.

Do you remember that movie Demolition Man with Sly and Wesley Snipes? I loved that movie for all the action and, of course the story, but more for the way that the creators of the film portrayed the future. All of the self driving cars, and gadgets that no one had ever thought of. Anyway, I was watching it the other day and the police chief guy with the bald head and glasses was carrying around something that looked like a book, but it had a screen. It seemed as if the screen was a touch screen, and he was having what appeared to be a video chat with another law enforcement agent on the thing. This was an idea of a gadget that the creators of the story and movie thought they would see in the distant future, like 2020's or 2030's. An awesome portable, touch screen device that had most, if not all the functionality of a PC, but smaller than a book. It's not 2020 something, though, and I realized that I had a much better, sleeker, and if I might say more futuristic looking device that performed as described right next to me. It was the iPad2. Now, I'm no Apple fanboy. Not in the least. I grew up using Windows machines at home, and my only experience with Apple before buying my first ipod touch 4G was in the "computer lab" in elementary school. But, last June I picked up the iPod touch 4G like I said, and I was blown away. It was so easy to use. So portable, so fast. I didn't like one thing, though, and it was the fact that the damn screen was too small to really use it for all the things that you could use it for other than just music and videos, like surfing the net, or using any of the million apps available. My hands were just too big. This was a problem. I don't have a lot of money to throw around, and the next step up on the Apple mobile line was the iPad2, and the 32GB version that I wanted was around $600! Thats a lot of money. And I already had an iPod, and at least two other Windows based machines that are very fast and up to date. It just didn't make sense to really buy the thing.I just kept falling more and more in love with the iPod touch, though, and more particularly with iOS and how well it performed. Everything worked and made sense. You wanted music, you hit the music "button" on the screen. Email you say? After you set up your account you just press the mail button. Pretty simple. The touch gestures are amazing too. The responsiveness and speed at which the device reacts is amazing. And its so smooth, people. Seriously, if you haven't handled an iOS5(when I got the ipod touch it was iOS4 i think, but the update is awesome) device you owe it to yourself to try it. Its incredible. But, I was still using that super tiny screen, and I couldn't send an email because my fingers would hit like 3 keys at a time and it would take a year to type it all out correctly. Surfing the net, although super fast and smooth, was horrible because typing a web address took a long time. What was I to do? I just gave up on using the iPod for anything other than media, and the occasional youtube video. I still played games on it, but even with the games, I really wanted a bigger, brighter screen. I started to look for reasons to buy the iPad2, and I couldn't come up with any. Not for about two months, at least, until my girlfriend said she needed a laptop and didn't really have any money to buy one. Bingo. I would give her the laptop, and even though she lives with me and I can still use the thing, I'll be down a machine and it leaves an opening for me to replace it. Right? Right!Off to my local retailer(sorry amazon)I go. 30 minutes later(store is literally right down the street from me) and I'm at home, updating the operating system and transferring all of my previous purchases and then I'm up and running. I was blown away.I knew what I was getting, a much bigger version of the iPod touch 4G. And, I got exactly that, and a whole lot more. First, the screen size is a huge plus. Much bigger than the iPod touch of course, and more than big enough to handle any number of tasks or games, or whatever. The keys on the touch screen keyboard are a really good size. No missed keys here people. And my fingers aren't small. The screen is so bright, and it just begs you to touch it. Movies and videos look great, and the web and all the apps are very vivid. This thing just looked great. It was lightweight too, and very thin. Physically this thing is like a very thin composition pad. Actually, much thinner than a composition book. About the same weight, though. Overall, the dimensions and weight make this thing ultra portable.If you're at all familiar with iOS you know about the apps, and they're pretty much all great. There are quite a few that are free as well, so don't let that stop you. In fact, some of the best games and apps available are free, or are just a buck so its not that bad. They range from super useful to super fun. Everything from photo transferring(desktop/laptop to ipad without USB)to remote desktop connection, to Grand Theft Auto is available, and almost anything you can think of has an app. Need a level? You can get one on your ipad for free. Want to tweak a photo? Get photo toaster jr for free and get tweaking. The apps are a real strong point for this device, and they make up for some of short comings of the device(more on that later. The battery last forever. Ten hours is more than enough for me. Plus you get a wall charger and a usb style hook up that you can use to hook up to your car if you have the adapter. Sweet. Like I said, processing speed is very quick, and it handles everything I throw at it all day long with no problems. Videos run without clipping or lag time and apps load up and run perfectly. I never have any freezes or crashes. Awesome. I can't say enough good things about this thing. Really. I can say few bad things as well. I wouldn't say bad, but you know, not what I would want from a "perfect" device.First, there are no USB ports. This sucks. There are apps that like I said earlier will help you transfer photos and videos, and documents, but it would be better if you could just plug directly in to the device. Second, you can't charge this thing with your laptop. Or I can't. It has to be plugged into the wall. Not too bad, but it sucks if you need to charge and you have laptop full of juice but no outlet. The biggest problem I have is the price point. Honestly, this thing is worth double what they want for it in my opinion. It will redefine how you look at computing in general. It is so much more intimate. But, even with that said, I think I have the right after purchasing to complain about the price a little. Again, worth every penny, but really pricey and I had to save up for the thing, and that sucks sometimes. Other than that, go buy this thing. Seriously. And shame on you if you think you can get what this thing delivers from a Kindle. Those guys are playing a very bad game of catch up. And they're going to lose. Think Android to compete with the iphone. I've used both. Androids are horrible. Epic fail. Now Amazon wants to lose money trying to compete with a legend. Trust me, if you want mobile, go Apple. Go iPad2.

Apple iPad 2 MC986LL/A Tablet NEWEST MODEL Reviews

First things first: I consider myself relatively unbiased on Apple products. I received the original iPad as a gift (which I was able to return once I saw the iPad 2 announcement) and I have an old iPod 4th gen with color display which is still going strong after a few years, but aside from that I typically use Windows PCs and my phone is Android. If you don't have an iPad, and you're trying to decide whether you want one or not, ask yourself: What will I use this for? This is meant to be an overview for the uninitiated, since according to initial news reports, 70% of people who have bought the iPad 2 so far didn't own an original iPad. Advantages:If you want it for web surfing, a portable Netflix or other video screen, gaming, or FaceTime/Skype video chat, it's definitely adept at all of those things. I used to read books and magazines in my bed before going to sleep, and I still occasionally do, but now I've found that surfing with the iPad is just as convenient and relaxing. The iPad is all about the apps, many of which greatly expand the native capability of the iPad. You can get Microsoft Office clones, remote desktop, second screen, calculators, alarm clocks, remote apps for cable boxes and disc players, and more. Some are free, many are not. I'll get into some of those a bit later, but keep in mind this isn't intended to be a review of apps. If you want to see what's out there, you can search the App store on the web or in iTunes. If you expect the iPad to be able to do something not in its specs, check the app store first.The only difference I've seen with the iPad 2 is that now there are a few games out there that are optimized for iPad 2, or have improved iPad 2 modes. Lots of games are free and those that aren't occasionally go on sale. The only two I've bought are Scrabble HD and Dungeon Hunter 2 HD, both when they were $1 each. (I've played many more free ones.) I recommend both. Dungeon Hunter 2 HD is a great 3D game that tries really hard to be Diablo 2, with character classes, customization, and online play. It looks great and has never crashed or had a framerate stutter. The iPad 1 had problems with crashing and low framerates with games occasionally, and this version seems to be a much better gaming system. That's the only big difference I noticed between the iPad 1 and iPad 2 so far though. For me, having a huge array of apps to play with, many of which are free if you don't mind ads here and there, and the convenience of being able to web surf without having to drag out my laptop makes this worth having. Plus the battery gets 8-10 hours on a charge, which is a far cry better than any laptop I know of. It's a great e-reader for airplane travel, even really long flights, though you can't use it on take-off and landing of course. Wi-Fi performance is flawless and the range is excellent. More than once I've pulled up in the driveway and before I'm even in the house, I've heard my iPad's ESPN ScoreCenter app go off to inform me of a score. I can't speak to the 3G quality, though, as I don't have that model. Frankly, I don't think most people need it. If I'm out of the middle of nowhere and need the web for something, I'd much rather pull out my phone than the iPad. If you just have to use the iPad, tons of public places have Wi-Fi these days. If you want to be able to print things, you might think at first that you need an AirPrint compatible printer. Fear not! A simple Google search for "AirPrint any printer" will show you how to configure your PC or Mac to broadcast its printers with AirPrint. I have Brother and Canon printers and they both worked with it. It took some time to download and install the AirPrint service and then configure printer sharing options on my network, but that was a far cry better than buying a new printer or an expensive printing app! Still, I've found that my printers occasionally disappear from the list, and the only way to get them back is to shut the iPad down completely and power it back on. Annoying. Limitations: The iPad 2 still doesn't support Adobe Flash. Some websites are adapting to this and adding HTML 5 video. Many aren't. Keep that in mind if you're a heavy web video user. I love to watch web shows like the Nostalgia Critic and the Angry Video Game Nerd, and most web show hosting sites are still in Flash. Also, some sites have flash menus, making them completely unusable to you if they don't have a mobile version. It's this that prevents the iPad from being a true laptop replacement, regardless of how much you spend on apps. I still end up having to fire up the laptop to use several websites I enjoy. The screen is supposedly oleophobic but gets fingerprints all over the place in mere minutes of use. I find that extremely irritating. If you feel the same way, get a screen protector like the ZAGG InvisibleShield (though if you get that particular one, be VERY careful when you install it, it's extremely difficult to get it on there with no air bubbles). You will thank yourself when all it takes to clear fingerprints is one wipe, plus it protects from scratches to boot. To get fingerprints off the screen itself took vigorous scrubbing and left streaks, which needed isopropyl alcohol to remove. Also, in direct sunlight, the glare off the screen makes it hard to see. Add fingerprints to that and it's practically impossible. Although the iPad 2 has two cameras, one on the front and one on the back, I haven't found much reason to use them other than for video chat. The cameras are terrible quality and the iPad 2 just isn't portable enough to drag around everywhere for camera usage. You can get an excellent digital camera for $150 or less, and most smartphones have much better cameras than the iPad has. Use one of those instead. If you don't own a laptop, don't expect the iPad 2 to do everything a laptop will, especially if you plan on doing any work-related things. Office applications are not included. Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, which are like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint respectively, are available for $10 each. I don't own them, but apparently they work reasonably well. However they are not 100% compatible with Microsoft Office documents, especially if you have more complicated formatting, macros, or animations that don't translate directly. Plus, the virtual keyboard is a bit more tiring to type on and definitely hinders typing speed. I average about 45-50 WPM on it, where I can get 80-100 WPM on a normal keyboard. You can be a little lazy with it to increase your effective typing speed, though; you can leave out apostrophes or required capitalization and the iPad will nearly always fix it. That also mostly takes care of my fingers occasionally hitting the wrong keys due to the lack of tactile feedback, but I still end up having to go back and fix words sometimes. Also, sometimes it fixes things that don't need to be fixed. It always seems to correct "its" to "it's", but what if I mean "its"? I know the difference! A lot of other features that you would expect a laptop to have are not here, though, or cost more. For example...- You can give slideshow presentations or display video on external monitors, projectors, or TVs with it, but that will cost you $29 for a VGA adapter plus the price of a cable and DVI to VGA adapter (monitors or projectors), or $39 for an HDMI adapter plus the price of an HDMI cable (newer TVs), or $39 for a composite or component video cable (older TVs)- You can transfer photos from a camera directly without having to use iTunes, but that will cost $29 for a camera adapter kit- The iPad is terrible at file storage for things other than music, videos, photos and apps, and with no USB or SD card slot, can't easily use external storage. If you want to store documents or need external storage for anything you'll need a file management app to keep track of them, and an online cloud file storage service like MobileMe (expensive) or Dropbox (free but limited to 2 GB, or pay for more)- Where you can just close a laptop to protect its screen, you'll need a case to protect the iPad. I highly recommend getting one. To save some money, try a cover/case intended for iPad 1, assuming you don't care that the rear camera will be covered up. A lot of them still fit and work great, such as the , and since they're for an old model they'll be discounted - You can watch videos/TV episodes/movies on it, but unless you bought them in iTunes, it's a big fat pain to find a converter for them and transfer them to iTunes. This is especially annoying for DVDs/Blu-Rays that have digital copy. You've already paid for the movie and have a digital file but you can't transfer it to your iPad without having to jump through a ton of hoops or buying expensive programs or apps! Not all media companies have this problem, though. When you redeem a digital copy from Disney, you can choose to get an iTunes version, which is perfectly compatible with the iPad. I have Up, Toy Story 3 and Wall-E, and getting them on the iPad was hassle-free. Conversely, Warner Brothers only offers Windows Media versions of the Harry Potter series for digital copy. Transferring to iPad is possible but you need to find programs that remove the DRM, resize to iPad resolution, and convert to Quicktime format. Good luck with that. Despite all that, the iPad 2 is worth getting if you can spare the cash, and more importantly, if you anticipate actually using it. I don't think it's worth getting for games alone, but if you're a gamer, there are lots of great, cheap games out there. Many of them are even multiplayer, though I haven't tried it, since most of my friends don't have iPads and interoperability between iPad and iPhone versions of games is slim to none (board games like Scrabble and Carcassonne tend to support iPad/iPhone interoperability though). The thing is, though, I got this as a gift. Would I have gotten it if I actually had to plunk down the $500+? Honestly, probably not. The lack of many features without having to buy expensive apps and accessories is a real deal-breaker for me (and subtracts a star from my rating). Plus, though I understand why Apple doesn't like Adobe Flash, they really need to get over it since there are large parts of the web that don't work without it. It may be bad for battery life, but why not just have the option to turn it on and off as needed, then? Still, if money is no object for you, it's a slick, entertaining device, and you'll enjoy it quite a bit. Just don't expect it to replace anything you already have; the iPad is in a niche market that the iPad itself created.

Hi,I am the new owner of this tablet (2 days). After I return the Creative ZiiO 16 GB 10-Inch Android 2.2 (cost more, but does less don't buy it). At first I have an issue with one of the USB port doesn't work. I thought I have to send it back for an exchange, but I try to contact Value Max first and their technician told me to do a factory reset and manual reset with the pin.....behold...tara. It fixed. I play all kind of video format and I have not find any movie file it doesn't play. Not like the Creative ZiiO,it plays my video but doesn't have sound. The USB work like a champ. I feel like I have the windows laptop at my hands.Pro: 2 full USB ports (you can play movie from the USB port)Have both cable network and WiFi. This is a plus.GPS antenna. I have not try it yet.There are enough Apps for you to start right away.The manual book is well written. It's cover most task you want to know.I like this tablet. It not a name brand. That for someone have megabuck to spend. To me the other tablet they build nice and light, but they doesn't give you expansion port like the USB port. After they cut down a few ounces of their tablet than they want you spend $150 docking and you 2 more pounds of loose stuff. That is not right. They just not nice with the consummer like us. They try to make money. They're just an another ipad clone to me.I am rather have a few ounce extra on my tablet, but I have every expansion port I need like this Superpad. They have name this tablet right.Do not let all the name brand tablet out there reap you off. Don't just take my word for it. Let give this one a try. you will like it.

Coby Kyros Tablets are the Samsung Galaxy Tablet...so it is a good investment and value. Coby Kyros MID 7127, 8127 and 1127 models are the 7, 8 and 10 inch Capacitive Screens, have larger battery life,and stereo speakers (built in). And Android 2.3 tablets. The above models are the best of the Kyros line. As with any tablet, you need to install an app called Super Task Killer. This app keeps the consumption of programs (or apps)from running needlessly which free up the memory. Many complain that it doesn't have the android market, but you can go to any market via google. There are several other markets to download apps from, one is the 1MobileMarket and 1MobileGames app that offers a wide variety of applications to download free. The only disappointment in the Coby line is the low megapixel (built in) webcam for Skype. But it does the job. These are solid, well built tablets and have great battery life. Having built in HDMI to HDTV is great,offers USB output to PC as well as microSD memory (up to 32GB) for processing and storing a lot of apps. A great tablet for the price. Another troubling issue is parents are giving their kids tablets for the holidays or other events and it should be noted this is a computer and adult content can be obtained. So supervision is required. The wifi is easy to set up and runs well. Battery life is double on these particular models listed above (compared to other models) which enables long useage. Coby Kyros is coming out with their best yet in 2012 (January-February) Coby finally is going to get it totally right~ They will offer Android 4.0, Dual Core Processor, 1GB of Ram, and a far larger internal flash memory. So I think it strange that people will spend far more to simply want the "android market" app when it can simply be obtained by internet. There are many other sites that offer the same apps, such as 1MobileMarket and 1MobileGames Overall, its a great tablet and great price., but if you want one of their newest tablets in January or February of 2012, well the wait is almost here. Coby Kyros has decided to take the lead this new year and come in strong with their investment toward having one of the best and affordable tablets in 2012.

I knew ahead of time that the product would come without the Android market and tested GetJar on my myTouch 4G. No problem - lots of apps. Wrong! The GetJar market is customized to your device. There are almost no useful apps for this device in/on GetJar. This device was intended to be my "TV Couch Device". None of my favorite apps are available for this device. Facebook, Sony's Media Remote, iTunes remote, Cozi's Family organizer, several bank and other financial apps. Very disappointing. You are pretty much limited to a browser experience, but you cannot download Opera or Opera Mini. Being limited to a browser, I would not have chosen a 7-inch device. Lesson learned.Also, ...the battery life appears to be in the neighborhood of 2-3 hours. Looking for another device now.

First off I purchased the Playbook at Office Max during the Black Friday Sale. But before that I went through some craziness to try and buy the other Black Friday tablet deals. I'm sure you don't want to hear the whole thing but my first choice would have been the Asus Transformer, than the Toshiba Thrive, then the Playbook. The Acer Iconia A100 would have been my last choice (doesn't matter since that was sold out too). To be honest, the Amazon deal for the Toshiba Thrive (8gb) for $200 was an incredible deal but I bought my Playbook first and I'm happy with it. Here's why:I initially wanted a 10 inch tablet for the screen size, bigger is better right? However after using it around the home and even in bed, the 7 inch tablet is a much more manageable size. Imagine laying down in bed and holding a 10 inch tablet out in front of you for extended period of time. Also the 7 inch tablet is just enough screen to enjoy videos and browse the web and the Playbook is a very capable devise with an excellent screen.The Asus Transformer is a nice device however it's called a transformer because of the keyboard dock accessory. After that point, it's no longer a pure tablet, it's a netbook. I have a netbook and not in need of another one. Plus a netbook can be too cumbersome at times to carry around with you all the time. To me a netbook isn't that convenient to use, hence the reason why I wanted a tablet.The Toshiba Thrive is also a great devise but it's kinda big and heavy. The reason why I wanted the Thrive is because of it's full size USB ports, SD card use and a regular HDMI port. However because of it's size, it is a decent netbook replacement. Having those USB ports would allow one to plug in a keyboard, mouse, external drive, etc. I believe that's one of the selling points for a Thrive but again not what I was looking for, which is portability and ease of use.The Acer Iconia A100 is the right size for what I'm looking for however the reviews about short battery life and build quality steered me away. The style and build quality of a Playbook far exceeds those of an 7 inch Iconia. Go ahead and go to a store and hold them in your hand, you will know what I mean. Also the screen quality is better on the Playbook vs the Iconia. Actually I think the picture quality on the Playbook is awesome, about the same as the Asus Transformer's IPS screen, maybe better.The Playbook's OS is different from what I'm use too, either Android or Windows, however it is very intuitive and really easy to pick up. I think RIM really shines in that sense. Also the browser for the Playbook was able to load any website I threw at it. Also because of the high screen quality, all websites are easy to read even with the 7 inch screen. I am very impressed with this little tablet. I am also able to tether it with my Android phone via wireless tether. (I've been reading that the Thrive is having some difficulty with tethering)Another great thing about Playbook's OS is the multi task ability. It handles multiple open programs easily. Also the way the OS is set up, it's easy to manage your open programs so it doesn't clutter the devise. On the android devise, I would have to go to task manager to see what programs are still operating and then kill them. On the Playbook, it goes away with a swipe of the finger, literally.Edit:I forgot to mentions the speakers, they work great. The speakers are front facing and are loud (for a tablet). Unlike the other tablets with speakers on the sides, you get better sound quality since they are facing the user.BUT... this is not a perfect device.The App Store for Blackberry tablet is abysmal. Maybe because I'm use to the Android market with a plethora of apps (more than I will ever need or want to know about) but the Blackberry App market is a joke. I understand that this is a fairly new device and can only hope for the best. Hopefully RIM will officially release the Android App player so that the Playbook can run Android Apps. This has been in the works for a couple months now. No Netflix. I prefer to stream most of my content so the hard drive space of a tablet is not that important to me but since Netflix is not available, it's a bummer. I am able to get by with Amazon Prime, which works great, and Couchtuner.com. Hopefully when the Android Player gets implemented, Netflix can be ported.No native email and calendar. For some of you this may be a deal breaker, not really for me but it would be nice to have. Again RIM announced a native email and calendar app for the Playbook in February 2012. I can wait. For now the Playbook has pre-installed web shortcuts to your Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc... This means no notifications of incoming mail. OVERALL:I would rate this devise at a 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 stars. The build quality, ease of use and simplicity is awesome. Right now the tablet can browse and play videos which is what I'm looking for. However it is hard to overlook the fact that the App Store barely exists and apps I'm used to having on my Android phone is not available.I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend this product. If you are looking for a netbook replacement (keyboard and all), go with a 10 inch tablet. It's hard to do actually work on a 7 inch screen, no matter how great the OS or build quality.If RIM delivers on the Android Player, native email/calendar apps with the upcoming OS update, this tablet would be a perfect 10/10. It's just not there right now.

I love my BB PlayBook, its the best tablet so far in the market, tried iPad but I didn't like it. The PlayBook has EVERYTHING! I can surf the net just like I surf on my desktop computer, I can share my BIS plan with it and get BBM, E-mail, etc. The Screen is really awesome, the cameras are pretty cool, the speakers are very good, I can do video chat from PB to PB with my friends. Use Skype (imo.im), Play Angry Birds on the net, listen to live radio (iheartradio.com), use Photoshop (Photoshop.com), Download torrents, Listen to music (dilandau.com), Play games on Facebook, take 1080p videos, EVERYTHING. I absolutely recommend this awesome product. You will not regret of it.

I have been a Apple - mac user for years both at home and a work Mac computers, iPod, iPhone, mac laptop and a iPad. My wife was the Blackberry user. When she received an iPad from her employer I enjoyed it too, but one device, two users = family issues. I was about to buy an Ipad but RIM dropped the price of the Playbook and I tried it.Display: ***** bright easy to read;os ***** easy to use, no crashes, handles word and pdf documents easily;sync ***1/2 the RIM program is no itunes but i have easily moved music and movies to the playbook;apps ** apple wins here no question but where there is no app you have a fully functioning web browser and although there may be a step or to more to access a program you can still do your banking, check your stocks, etc...;browser ***** excellent works with Flash;Wifi: ***** excellent, at home not an issue, otherwise I teather with my iPhone;Mail: ***** very good link to Gmail, easy to use;Calander: * missing but I use Google calander;Address & contacts *: missing, I have not found a good alternative yet - easy work around i grab my iPhone;Security: ***** not an issue like Andriod os;Engineered in Canada *****Summary: The Playbook has limitations but I have been impressed by the products quality and engineering. Preface: I have been a Blackberry user since 2004. Last December I purchased an Android phone, HTC G2 and lived with it for 3 1/2 months. My phone is used as a communication device, talk, text & e-mail. The Android was primarily a tiny screened tablet with apps and - a phone secondarily. Oh, and a HORRIBLE battery life. I came to the conclusion my perfect world was a BB phone and a 7" tablet. After reading some scathing reviews by some tech nerd types, I took the leap of faith and purchased the Playbook. Some of those reviews are just plain wrong. Yes the switch on top is a pain in the neck. But you only use it to turn on from a cold boot (off is on the desktop). I keep my unit on standby and have no battery life problems. The only time I'd turn it off is for some extended period of time.The browser is quick and easy to use. The Blackberry Bridge is great for me with business data on the company server and personal data, calendar etc. on a Blackberry. Since it's a 7" tablet and very portable the Blackberry Bridge (when traveling) gives me the internet at no cost. The desktop synch program works flawlessly with the Playbook and the Blackberry phone. Apps aren't a big deal for me. Battery life is fantastic on a Blackberry and very good on the Playbook. If RIM's OS updates are as represented, the combo of a Playbook and Blackberry phone give me the best of both worlds. I'll reserve a 5 Star rating for post update time.

i bought this from apple because amazon didn't have it yet. I am middle- aged, love my nano, a kindle devotee from the first days, don't have a smart phone, and am a pc user. at first i was awed by the touchscreen and the resolution quality. images are gorgeous. but now, it is really annoying. too often the screen doesn't respond, and then reacts when you don't even know you're touching it. the word processing function has been limited and limiting from the start, for someone accustomed to microsoft. if you think in buying the ipad you are getting a compact, fast, light computer, you are not. it IS fast. a computer it is not. no flash player is definitely a hinderance. what it is great for is apps, games, (although the screen has been frustrating there too), watching movies and tv shows, some browsing on the internet, and as a portable photo album, because images are truly fantastic on the ipad. i find the screen very fatiguing on my eyes, and have the brightness level down almost as far as it can go. i would never dream of reading a book on it. kindle has nothing to worry about, as far as the ipad as a reading device. the fact i can't see the ipad screen outside, even in the shade, is also unfortunate, but i get it, that's a backlit screen.i am submitting this review not to bash apple, but to clarify a bit to people not familiar with macs and/or touchscreens what this device is about. would i buy this device again? not unless it sold for maybe $300. it is more a toy than a tool.

At first this device was the best thing I had ever bought! Two weeks later I'm kind of disappointed. I have had a couple of issues with this device, biggest one being serious issues with wifi connectivity. Apparently this has been a common issue for ipad 2. I found a fix for mine, which is to say its not complete junk, but definitely an inconvenience to go through all the steps again and again to fix it. The other issue is I keep having audio problems...sometimes when muted it cant unmute itself and I have to restart it in order to get my audio working again. The camera picture quality is not great, in fact its useless. The video quality is decent in good lighting, very usable if you can really see yourself taking video with a 10 inch tablet. The device isnt heavy for me, but my older mother found it heavy for her to hold after only using it for 5 minutes, which is why I would also recommend getting the smart cover for it..it can turn into some pretty useful sturdy positions for typing, reading, or watching video.The positives of this device, I was surprised at how great the screen would be. I thought it would scratch easy or be high maintenance...but its been really easy to keep clean with a small microfiber cloth (not included). Apps load fast, graphics are nice, and perfect for netbook replacement as long as you dont do a ton of typing. Its great for social media and web browsing, but i would NOT use this as an ebook reader, your eyes start to hurt after reading for awhile. Get the kindle for that.I think the app store is slightly over hyped, i have found two unique apps that i couldnt have got for an android tablet...but overall the most popular apps seem to be on both devices.

I've postponed this review for a few months -- waiting to see how useful it would be after the newness wore off. So, the verdict is in: I put it in a black leather case and deliver sermons from it every week (written on a Mac and transferred to the iPad by "Print to PDF" at A5 size straight to a Dropbox folder, then transferred on the iPad from Dropbox to iBooks. It takes about 20 seconds). I prefer the iPad to printed sermon notes and wedding outlines because it's more easily hand-holdable, I can use a custom color scheme at no extra charge for ink, the print can be very large, I'm not wasting a bunch of paper, it's lighter, smaller, and more portable than a large-print Bible, and when talking to people after church I've got access to my calendar and address book so I can schedule appointments, get contact information, write reminders for that week's staff meeting, etc., -- all while standing in the foyer greeting members and visitors.I've also used it for presentations by connecting it to a vga projector input at the podium and utilizing the mirrored display. You aren't limited to Keynote for that although it does work well. But I've found it just as useful with iBooks, Bible software, and even YouTube player. The portability is fantastic -- disconnect the video adapter, slap the cover closed and walk away.Daily uses: mileage and expense tracking, keeping track of contacts, calendars & notes, video record-keeping, listening to Texas Rangers baseball broadcasts, web surfing, investment management, reading papers and books, and navigation. It's my favorite device for reading and responding to most emails.It can stand in for a computer in a pinch, which it had to recently when my laptop was put out of commission for a few days by a lightning strike. Using various apps most of the data I need on a daily basis is automatically synced wirelessly between the iPad, iPhone, and MBAir, so I still had my complete calendar and all my appointments (iCal/Google combo), access to all my email (IMAP gmail), all my notes (Evernote), vital documents (Dropbox), and the ability to research and write sermons, articles, and class presentations. It's capable enough that I can get by with leaving my laptop at the office most evenings. Yea!It's far more portable than even my MacBook Air. It's small and discrete enough to take into restaurants, tuck into the console in my car, and take into hospital waiting rooms without appearing insensitive to anxious family members. Instant on and off means you can pick it up to glance at the weather radar, or check an address, or take a note as easily as picking up an iPhone, but the size makes it much faster and easier to enter and view information. It's also large enough to share information with others around you. I use it daily and would replace it within a week if I lost it. 5 stars.

The new iPad 2 has become an invaluable extension of my office. It's fast, has a great screen, and is easy to use. With apps, I can rmeotely access my work desktop; access my company's entire lan, have all my files avialble to me onthe road via dropgox, have all my important Word, PDF, Excel, and Powerpoint files with me, call others using Yahoo, email on the fly, watch movies, listen to Spotify/iTunes, create a MindMap, create a presentation, take a picture and annotate it, annotate PDFs, edit Word, Excel files, find my way on a map, keep up with my blog, keep up and trade stocks, do unit conversions, request AAA roadside assistance, scan prices making drawings, and play games. What is not to like! IF you don't have one or you are skeptical, you have no idea what you're missing. And more memory is better. I thought I would chime in and finally write a review on amazon. I recently purchased the coby kyros for my wife about a week or two ago. I keep reading that you can't add the android market on this device and I wanted to steer potential future customers in the right direction. You CAN add the android market to this device rather easily, it was the first thing I did. All I did was a simple google search and I quickly found a zip file to download to my computer, then add to my device. It was rather simple and easy, so don't let that deter you from purchasing this item.Pros... For the price this device is rather fast in my opinion.The screen is nice and very responsive to my touch.It has a solid feel to it (some might think its heavy) but it feels very well made.Decent forums for support of this device found online.I feel the battery life is also a positive on this device. I don't know how long it lasts, but we have used it a lot over a two day period before we had to charge it.Cons...The camera is of poor quality and front facing only.You do have to download the android market, but it is available (a small inconvenience for me)Limited aftermarket cases available.No full size SD slot (personal preference, I purchased a mini sd with adapter to solve this)All in all, I am very please with the device. For $200 the cons really didn't outweigh the price of this device. My wife likes it and I liked it so much, I bought the mid8127 8" version. I mainly wanted to type a review because I keep reading you can't add the android market to this device, but you sure can.

I wanted a tablet that would allow me to read my Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited (MDCU) subscription and other regular e-books while lounging around my house. With a little work, this fits the bill perfectly.1) As others have said, you have to go to YouTube and search for Coby Kyros app store to find a video that shows you how to get the Android Market and Flash on here. It isn't something that's intuitive or easy, but the video makes it do-able for a computer-literate person. Without this step, the tablet isn't much to talk about. Required for Flash content, including (MDCU).2) Remember, "4G" in the model number is "4 GB of storage built in" and wasn't meant to imply a connection to the 4G Cellular network.3) This thing feels and looks so much nicer than I was expecting! For the price I paid, I expected it to be flimsy plastic. But it's a nice, solid piece of hardware.4) Since I mentioned MDCU above, let me say it works much better in Single Page mode instead of Smart Panels. Pinch doesn't work with it. Some of the controls are slow to respond. I'm willing to put up with this, because I love reading MDCU without having to tote my laptop. I use MDCU instead of native comics apps because I would rather pay $60/year to rent 10,000 comics than pay $1.99 or more per issue. MDCU is Flash based, so this is one application that my hacked-up inexpensive Android tablet can do that iPad never will.5) Right now for e-books I'm reading EPub files. I haven't tried it with PDF or Kindle files yet.6) I did spend an extra thirty something bucks for the 32GB micro SD card. The 4GB that come with it would fill up fast if you have photos, music, or videos to put on it.I'm really enjoying my new tablet. It required a little work and research to get it going, and isn't for people who want to avoid that. It's a great price and I'm glad I bought it.

I bought an IPAD 2 64 gig 3g Verizon model the first week it came out. I bought it online. I received it 3 1/2 weeks later from china. It was amazing for the first 20 hours. The apps were so unbelievable. I have a touch, and it is so much better. On the second day, it started trying to shut down. The battery was at 80%. I tried shutting it off and could not. I called apple. I bought the extra care plan for 90 dollars so they are going to help me. Right? Wrong. The first representative we talked to had us restore it to the factory settings. It took 1 hour to download the 660 mg file. We then restored it to the factory settings. It started working perfectly. We were so happy. The problem was solved! I watched videos and played with it for hours. I ran the battery down and plugged it in overnight to charge. The next morning the problem was back in spades. It then started doing new things like flashing on and off. I went on the website and asked a specialist to call me again. She put me on hold. She was gone for a little while. When she came back, she said that I needed to mail it back to them to REPAIR it. I said What? I have the apple care plan and was told that you would send me a replacement. I have not even had this thing 2 days. She said that the other representative lied to me, and that she could not lie to me. I have 2 options. I can take it to the Apple Store (nearest one 165 miles away) or I can mail it and have it repaired and they will send the same one back to me. She made me an appointment at the store. I am driving the 165 miles to take it back. The second representative (a supervisor) told me that they would send me a replacement if I gave them a credit card and let them charge another 900 dollars for it. When they received the old one back, they would charge it back to me.I have had a kindle for years. The day I saw it on the Oprah show was the day I fell in love with it. I bought one the same day. The first kindle i received was great except the internet would not work. I called Amazon and they shipped me out a kindle the SAME DAY! I got it a couple of days later and loved it. It worked perfectly. I upgraded to a DX and have never had a problem. If you want to see a video of what it is doing, you can go to you tube and watch it. My username is caulret. I love Amazon and their amazing customer service!Edited 4-16-11I took it back to the Apple store. The people at the Plano Apple store were awesome. They did not want to give me my money back, but we negotiated with them and they ended up putting it back on our credit card with some creative measures. A more timid person would have had to take an apple gift card. This was all they said that they could do at first, but I held my ground. I might buy this product again at a local Best Buy when they come available. If I decide to do that, I will edit this review. This was my true experience, and I wanted to share it.

The first iPad really defined the tablet market and while a trickle of competing tablets were released, none of them has matched the critical acclaim of the iPad 2. The consensus of CNET, Engadget and most other tech reviewers is that the Motorola Xoom is the closest competitor, but falls just short of iPad.This latest version of iPad sports a thinner design, front and back camera for casual filming and FaceTime/Skype video calls, a gyroscope, better speaker and, of course, a dual-core processor and 9x faster graphics capabilities. You still get the 10 hour battery life, but it's all wrapped up in a nicer package. That said, it doesn't seem drastically different than the original iPad and it feels like this version is simply an iPad with cameras, and the cameras don't perform especially well.Granted, the increased graphics capabilities do make a noticeable difference in the handful of games that take advantage of the increased speed ("Infinity Blade", "Real Racing 2 HD"), but most of the apps I use most frequently - e.g. CNN for iPad, Netflix, ABC Player, iTunes Video, iBooks, Pandora, SiriusXM, Apple Remote - don't feel like the user experience changed much beyond the increased volume coming from the speaker.My big disappointments with the iPad 2 are that the cameras aren't great, though that's forgivable since I'd use them mostly for video calling anyway, and that the screen didn't increase in resolution from the first generation iPad! I want my Retina display!However, overlooking the faults of the iPad 2, it's still the best tablet on the market, in my opinion. My kids love the educational apps ("Monkey Preschool Lunchbox", "First Words Animals", "Shape Puzzle HD", "Talking Larry", "Peekaboo Barn" and "Garage Band" are all highly recommended), and I think they've gone a long way in teaching even my mildly autistic daughter memorization and puzzle solving skills!I also love that I can get paid content from apps lie Netflix, (Comcast) Xfinity TV and Hulu+ and even free content like on-demand "Bachelor" episodes and other shows from the free "ABC Player" app. There's just so much capability available to the device through apps and certainly, the wealth of apps available in the App Store is one of the iPad's biggest strengths vs. competitors! It's also a great device for checking email and casually surfing the web, as long as the site you view doesn't require Flash, which is still unsupported. I used to have a netbook that took 5 minutes to boot, then had an awkwardly small browser window and slow response, but you see nothing but instant-on capability and smooth navigation with iPad. I'd definitely prefer this tablet to a netbook!Also, a couple of other miscellaneous tips for those interested:1. The new magnetic from Apple is a must-try! The automatic wake and sleep on opening/closing the cover is more handy than you might first think, as is the ability to roll the cover into a stand for the iPad! We watched Netflix from bed while my wife nursed our baby recently, and it would have been a pain without the handy stand!2. If you buy an or , you can wirelessly stream music (and video in the case of the Apple TV) to a remote set of speakers using AirPlay or the Apple Remote app! It's cool to be able to listen to my iTunes content from my kitchen with the iPad as remote control!3. If you're debating whether to buy the WiFi-only or the WiFi/3G iPad, it's worth noting that by paying for the WiFi hotspot capabilities on an iPhone 4, you can not only get data, but location services for your iPad 2, so you can save a couple hundred dollars on hardware and future-proof your connection speed since you can buy a new phone instead of a new iPad to take advantage of increased network speed.In summary, I highly recommend the iPad 2 if you're in the market for a tablet. Its apps are highly entertaining, portable and easy/quick to launch a play, and it just may change the way you surf the web and check email! Even your kids will love it! The few innovations this model sports aren't what they could have been, but are nonetheless compelling.

I thought about getting a tablet a hundred and seventy eight times before finally buying one. I have a couple of laptops and a mac desktop so I wondered if I really need one. I know it isn't that expensive to own but then I also had 2 iPod Touches. So basically I was going to get the iPad 1 first but then they came out with the iPad 2, I waited several months and then like any man who hates indecision I decided to get a tablet. The choice was simple. I was used to the iPod Touch (4th generation) and thought this would possibly be similar. I was worried it would sit in one corner of my house. To clarify I never needed an iPad, what I did like however the most was the speaker on it. You see, i'm big on music and wanted something that can behave like a traveling jukebox. Besides watching a film when I'm on an airplane won't be a bad idea either. I was sincerely considering getting the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 but then I knew this thing has been the best selling product of all time so I decided to get it anyway. I've had it for a little over a month now and in the following points i shall speak of the features, some unique and share my findings with you.UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE IPAD 2 -1. At 9.7 inches of diagonal length and brightness that is nothing short of being called exquisite one would imagine this thing to have an average battery or a good battery but the battery life is extraordinary. I use my iPad for a couple of hours daily and I must say that despite music playback, wireless data transferring to the iPad from my mac iTunes library, this thing lasts me for at least 5 days. This is remarkable. I can give you the best device in the world as a manufacturer but if the battery life isn't good what good is it to keep charging it. It does take a very long time to charge mind you which tells you that it's gonna last you a while. For some bizarre reason I like to charge this with my Mac. Charging using the wall outlet is slowly getting primitive.2. The speaker is amazing, it's loud and clear but you have to know where the speakers are placed and it's very important or else it will hamper your experience. Sometimes you have to hold it in your hands to make sure the sound output is ideal. Does it work well placing it on a flat surface glass or wood? Yes. What do I use the speaker for? iPod. At 16GB this is just about enough for me to carry a contemporary selection of music and films with me. Does it sound good while browsing internet pages? Yes. Youtube is exhilarating to say the least. Also only selected Facebook videos will work because many are not available on mobile devices so if something doesn't run on your iPhone or android phone, it may not run on the iPad. Fair trade.3. There are two cameras, both are sub par for 2011 but if you're sitting in a dimly lit room and have washed your face, it may just somehow take a nice photo of you but I seldom take pictures from it. I like to record 30 second to 1 minute videos and email it directly to people. I always keep it connected with my wifi. This is really convenient and is a NEW WAY for me to keep in touch. I never did this with my mac or my iPhone. Also please note an interesting thing here, if your video is too long, your iPad tells you that you cannot send it owing to the large size. I have not gotten into the whole editing video and cutting it thing so what I then resort to is UPLOADING IT DIRECTLY ON YOUTUBE. Great feature though quality is to be compromised slightly.4. The iPad 2 weighs less than the iPad 1 by a significant amount. This shall be reason enough for people to upgrade or maybe you guys can wait for the iPad 3 to come out in April next year (random estimate)5. While typing on the iPad is a breeze for "novices" and "intermediates" it is not ideal for a super fast expert typer. Having said that I don't use it much for typing. I am much faster on my phone than I am on the iPad. I have noticed i am able to type best when I am not holding the tablet in my hands and it is resting on a surface. Now I have installed a invisible shield for it because it liked to keep a daily account of fingerprints. Did I find an ideal one? No. I also use an invisible PLASTIGLASS thing for the back which I found on Amazon and found super amazing. The back is so smooth even with this accessory. I find the leather cases a little too pricey and there are several available but I find them kind of obstructing to the design of this iPad and a little cheap so I don't use.6. Great company on an airplane - While I am always fidgeting with this device when it's playing something, the device makes for great company on an airplane provided you have an "mp4" type file to play back on it. You can easily install it using iTunes. But if you have an avi file or a divx file I don't know how to play them or transfer them. The iPad doesn't work as a USB STORAGE device so it won't show up on your finder (or my computer) when connected. There is no way for a user to save files by dragging and dropping. WHILE MANY ARGUE over the relevance of such storage, I believe the absence of it helps in keeping things organized and we all could do with a little less clutter. iTunes works beautifully for transferring stuff. I have noticed on all apple platforms (iPhone, iPod, iPad) that uploading a picture to Facebook involves more steps than on Android. Infact in certain cases Apple makes you buy an application to upload files to Facebook for the iPad. I find this cheek quite amusing but I take it with a pinch of humor. While playing back video you can tilt the device in any which way you want and the screen tilts that way. The video output is superior and the tilt helps so it makes sure your fingers don't keep smacking into the headset jack when headphones are attached.7. Browsing - Yahoo looks utterly brilliant on the iPad. I love to go once a day and simply look at their news features. Most search engines have specific websites for the tablets to access em and it looks super. My friend has a Xoom and he loves his tablet and is always talking about it but I see a sincere longing in him for an Apple iPad. The interface is unmatchable whether you are browsing, playing back a video or a song, the iPad wins. I do not use this as a task keeper so I don't bother with office utilities and all. Neither do I edit videos on the iPad but I believe there are inexpensive solutions available. I read about them all the time on Macworld. Browsing on the internet, watching youtube videos, being on Facebook - it all seems flawless on the iPad. Much better than using a computer or an iPod or a phone. This is where the iPad truly shines. The font and the brightness I repeat is flawless and magical - nothing like i have seen in a dozen years of computers.8. TRANSFER - With the new ios 5.00 and iCloud I can actually send music, video, pictures to the iPad or play them back on my mac without connecting. Another big significant improvement. Now if only I could charge it wirelessly :)9. Are you thinking about getting the 32gb version? Don't. The 16gb is just fine - for applications you won't need more. Multi-tasking is very easy and truly mastered on the iPad as opposed to the relevance on an iPod or iPhone courtesy of the big screen. Yes there is no flash support so I can't watch imdb trailers directly on the iPad. I have found applications which allow me to download music directly for free on the iPad - I am sure you will too. Netflix works flawlessly on this. I have put 740 songs on it and three films and have 35 applications installed but I still have 3GB remaining. After watching this film once I delete it to keep it free for another. This way you won't need a bigger iPad but if you do the difference is just $100 + Tax. I have also found that there exist many solutions for iPad users to wirelessly connect the iPad with a wireless storage hard drive. The expansion options are super. So take a look into that but I strongly advise getting just the basic 16gb version. I have a 64 gb iPhone and 64gb iPod so maybe I am so adamant on the uselessness of a higher storage iPad too.10. Miscallenous - It works with bluetooth, the iPad is light, unique for browsing, unique for youtube, ultra fast, multitasking is beautiful, you can play music or pandora while browsing, you can also switch the screen off and it will continue singing to you for several hours, the battery life does justice to it's perfections, the cameras are ok, i never Skype using it or i don't use FaceTime cause I don't know many people who do that. I like to carry it in my 13inch laptop case logic bag when I have to. I haven't dropped much water on it because i like it too much to be clumsy with it. No headphones or instruction manual is shipped. It took me roughly 30 minutes to set it up by connecting with my mac. It comes with a decent amount of charge so you can go 4 hours of playing around with it right out the box.I want you to look at all the above mentioned points and ask yourself if this is a notebook replacement? Obviously not. Because it has no physical keyboard, hdmi out, usb slot but if you are a casual browser, you can invest in this first and use it within the first 30 days to make your mind up. Apple is good that way. Overall - this is by far the best device i have ever used. It beats my iPod, iPhone, android phone, old blackberry, my mac desktop (close 2nd) , my ASUS laptop, my tv, my xbox, my blu ray player, my cameras and even my iron. Good luck. Don't buy the white one, get the black one.

The iPad is an invaluable travel companion if you are a frequent travelet. Why do I preffer black vs white? If what you mostly do is watch videos on your iPad you want it with the black bezel because the video will blend with the black bezel and look larger than with the white it becomes kind of a distraction, this is the reason why most TV's in the market have a dark or a black bezel. Portability of this thing is amazing, Its light and its easy to lug around when you are traveling. Also the battery life is exceptional, I'm bad at keeping my devices charged up and I have done a couple of 8 hour trips and my ipad was stil kicking when I landed and a few days after, Im truely surprized. For those of you debating between the 3GAT&T, 3GVerison or the Wifi version, it depends on where you go to. I had the original 32 wifi only and I was very happy with it I noticed I got Wi-Fi access at a lot of places and I could also use the wifi hot spot on my phone to connect however, in recent travels I have been sent to middle of nowhere america where AT&T has no 3G coverage and hotels have no wifi (yes they are out there, hotels that still have no wifi) after I returned from my last trip to said location I decided I should get the Verizon iPad simply from the coverage perspective and since the 3G service is not on contract and the Verizon plans have more options I decided that was my choice. Now is this the best option for everyone, no! I think the 3G is just for a small amount of users the vast majority should be fine with a 16GB or a 32GB, if you know your way around the app market place and apps like Air Video Server and tools like DVD Fab and TVersity you dont need that much storage space on your iPad you can simply stream everything. Besides, I have a 32GB and I have 57 videos loaded in that 32GB iPad which if I watch 10-12 on a trip it is an overstatement, I'll watch a few on the plane but the rest, Im streaming from my Media Center at home or from NetFlix. When talking to people in line I was shocked at the number of people looking for the Verizon version when they do not travel, people if you are home most of the time just use your wifi, its cheaper and its faster! Another thing to note is that if you are an international traveller and want 3G the Verizon iPad is NOT Global wireless (so no 3G anywhere outside of the US) however wifi will work just fine. You will see people complain about resolution and such and honestly, I think the resolution is perfect, the iPad is not meant to replace your laptop or your desktop or your TV, if it was why they would have bothered with airplay? If you are expecting to dump your laptop because you got an iPad think again, if you just use your laptop for browsing pages and playing games then you might get away with it however if you expect to do Office on these, think again, until MS gets their act together and decides that IOS is another venue of revenue for them I will still need to carry my laptop around to do word/excel/ppt files. Lack of flash support has not bothered me, yes I wish I could see some pages however, Im not in to the too flashy stuff (no pun intended) I rather get the straight text and keep going my only gripe would be that when Im conected via WiFi I would like to get full pages and not the mobile version however that is not an iPad problem it is a server problem. Overall my score goes as followsComfort and portability A+Battery Life A+App Diversity and usability A+Interface A+Expandibility C (I dont need a USB port or anything like that however it is annoying that if I ever needed and expansion either I have to pay for an adapter or its not available)TV Out Support B+ (simply judging that for HDMI you have to buy the dongle)Cammera Quality C (who needs a cammera in their iPad anyways? Face time sure, rear facing meh)Other thoughts:Get a screen protector, I tried the Invisible Shield for my Gen 1 and hated it, the material removes the slickness of the screen and makes it harder to interact. I like the Splash screen protector, it is like its not there and it does make cleaning a bit easier. Get a case this thing is beautiful but if you would like to maintain its resale value get a case that cover both front or back or separate covers, I think the Vapor case hack is pretty interesting. Investigate tools like DVD Fab Video Converter (excellent for making iPad versions of your DVD's and BD's and it does take care of EVERYTHING for you from conversion to the right format to importing to iTunes) TVersity and Air Video for content streaming. Be realistic on your expectations, I know Apple calls their products magic and their user interface and experience is fenomenal however there are limitations as to what these things can do so try to make an informed purchase that you are happy with instead of rushing and then having something that doesnt meet your expectations. For me I was debating between this and a mac book air however for me since I have to lug around my work computer anyways this won.

At first this device was the best thing I had ever bought! Two weeks later I'm kind of disappointed. I have had a couple of issues with this device, biggest one being serious issues with wifi connectivity. Apparently this has been a common issue for ipad 2. I found a fix for mine, which is to say its not complete junk, but definitely an inconvenience to go through all the steps again and again to fix it. The other issue is I keep having audio problems...sometimes when muted it cant unmute itself and I have to restart it in order to get my audio working again. The camera picture quality is not great, in fact its useless. The video quality is decent in good lighting, very usable if you can really see yourself taking video with a 10 inch tablet. The device isnt heavy for me, but my older mother found it heavy for her to hold after only using it for 5 minutes, which is why I would also recommend getting the smart cover for it..it can turn into some pretty useful sturdy positions for typing, reading, or watching video.The positives of this device, I was surprised at how great the screen would be. I thought it would scratch easy or be high maintenance...but its been really easy to keep clean with a small microfiber cloth (not included). Apps load fast, graphics are nice, and perfect for netbook replacement as long as you dont do a ton of typing. Its great for social media and web browsing, but i would NOT use this as an ebook reader, your eyes start to hurt after reading for awhile. Get the kindle for that.I think the app store is slightly over hyped, i have found two unique apps that i couldnt have got for an android tablet...but overall the most popular apps seem to be on both devices.

We are now the proud owners of two (2) iPad 2 tablets. We have one white 64GB WiFi/AT&T 3G and one black 16GB WiFi.My family all pooled together to buy my son his iPad 2 (after they saw how he was responding to my 3G version). Unlike many children with autism, my son has never been very computer or technologically inclined. His interests have always been with physical and tangible objects and interests (not a bad thing, at all)... but we strongly suspected that the iPad touchscreen would change all of that.There are some remarkable apps for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) - some of which (fortunately) we don't need to use, since my son is very verbal. That having been said - I have watched how the iPad is completely transforming the lives of his peers who are not very verbal. Since this isn't a review of the apps, I won't write a whole book about the great apps - except to highlight three that perform really well on the iPad for my son: 1) the "First Then" schedule - you can use stock photos, photos you take, or grab them from Google images; 2) Stories2Learn where you can make your own social stories using photos you take; and "Look in My Eyes" a game that makes your child look squarely into the eyes of images of children (there is a secret number displayed) that needs to be entered on a next page to get "prizes".Okay - so now a review of the iPad itself...For the 64GB wifi/3G model - I swore I would only use it for my son and myself... that I wouldn't get sucked into using it for work (since I am the one who paid for it... right?). Okay, well that plan lasted all of 3 minutes. I have all of the attachments now: the VGA connector (used it yesterday to put maps up on the wall during a meeting using our projector); the HDMI connector (which is genius - since it has a 2nd port to provide power using your own AC adapter - and I use this at home and at work to plug into the TVs/LCD displays); the USB and SD Card reader (which imports my photos from my Nikon DSLRs); and my sister bought me the bluetooth keyboard (which I thought would be superfluous - but since I AM actually using this for work ALL OF THE TIME - it comes in very handy). All of the Apple attachments work great. Yesterday, I received a cheap non-Apple 2100 mAmp car charger from Amazon - and it works GREAT. Charges, and I'm not afraid of my iPad battery frying! So, let me get to the two negatives - since that's why YOU are reading this review - right? You want to figure out what is wrong with this thing... if anything. The honest truth is that the cameras STINK!!! Totally, and completely. So, why give it a 5 star review, right? The cameras WORK for the purpose that I wanted: to use facetime to call my sister who lives overseas... and for that - it works passibly well. Not in low light. NEVER in low light. So... I adjust. Don't call Asia with the lights off! Problem solved, solution found! Trying to take photos with the front or back camera - also not great. REALLY HORRIBLE in the low light conditions I just mentioned. YET - when you take photos outside in the sunshine - they are actually quite decent. I'm a photo snob, though - so nothing that didn't come from one of the Nikon DSLRs is suspect to me... DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE HOPING THIS WILL REPLACE YOUR COMPACT DIGITAL CAMERA. My Blackberry phone camera is a million times better - and I still think that THAT stinks. While I'm on the subject - let's talk about Facetime. Apple - it's a great product. I really love it. HATE that I can't use it on my iMac at home unless I upgrade to Snow Leopard - which I have no intention of doing. Glad my son now has his own iPad 2 so that I can call him when I'm at work or on the road... So others who are reading this understand - the Facetime App is a billion times better than the Skype app. Apple made Facetime to work on their computers. Period. As such, it takes those not-so-great cameras I just mentioned, and maximizes their abilities and functionality. If you can call someone Mac to Mac - use Facetime.What else don't I like: the cost of all of those add ons I mentioned. Seriously!?!? My choice to buy them. I will stop my rant.What I HATE: the smartcover. It's horrible. Don't waste your money on the smart cover! It's not smart. I bought the orange - and it's already dirty in the ridges (remember I take this everywhere, and to work... and I work as a project engineering overseeing large dirty and messy job sites) - but the orange was already a sick creamsicle color, but it is just lame. It doesn't always "snap" to the edge with the precision shown in the video commercial. Just buy something else. Or save your money. I am waiting for the Otterbox Defender to come out - since I now realize how much I will travel with this.Everything else - I love. The list is long, and I won't bore you. As a child, I dreamed of such a device... and it meets almost all of my desires and wishes for a non-human user interface. The AT&T 3G is good enough, don't know if Verizon would have been better... I will always question my decision. I can watch Netflix - but it doesn't hold coverage on my trainride... but then again, my cell phone from Verizon doesn't either. There are lots of "dead zones" on my train ride to work. When I'm stationary - in the woods, at a restaurant, in a store - the AT&T signal is typically strong enough to handle the most demanding streaming.Visually, this object is a stunner. Physically, this object is a winner: it feels great in your hands, is responsive to the touch, and it makes everyone want one...I recommend that anyone who has time on their hands buy one. If you don't have time on your hands, don't buy one, since you will never sleep..... that is my woe...

After playing around an iPad2 in the Apple store, I did a little research, made the leap and bought one. Before I placed my order, I had a few questions about which one I should get: Black or white? Would 16gb be enough, or should I go for 64gb (since it's not like you can add memory to it later)? Or maybe I should take the moderate middle road and get 32gb? I had definitely decided on WiFi, not because 3G doesn't appeal, but because I don't need another monthly bill. What about the Apple-refurbished iPads? Are they as good as the new? Is there any tangible difference? If these are the same questions you have, I'll try to flesh out these answers in detail -- as well as what the iPad is good for -- and what it is decidedly not good for, and what a dedicated PC-user (like myself) should expect from a first-time Apple purchase.THE SPECS:So, Question #1: White or black? I was instantly enamored by the white. It was so... different. And that is the reason to go for white. Perhaps the only one. However, the reasons not to go for white outweigh this almost immediately: Primarily, the contrast of the white does in fact make the screen appear less bright and vibrant (I noted this in the Apple store) and there are reports of light-leakage. I went for black, and have no regrets.Question #2: What size? This was probably the question I spent the most time on, and I felt as if I couldn't get a really good answer for it. Some people seemed to find 16gb to be more than enough, while others said even 64gb wasn't enough. I almost bought the 16gb, but ended up compromising and getting a 32gb refurbished from Apple for the same price as the new 16gb. And I'm really glad I did, because I've already used more than the 14.4gb -- which is the usable space available one the 16gb.The 16gb, I've discovered, would have been ideal for someone only using apps and browsing the internet. Forget using it for music or movie storage, it's just not happening. On my iPad I have about 80 apps currently, consuming 5.6gb of space. Contrast that with the 1300 songs I have on there which are taking up about 8gb of space, and you'll see what I mean about 16gb being an apps-only device. So, if you already have an iPod, say, then it might make sense to get the 16gb.The 32gb is ideal for apps and storing a moderate music library, something I never would have anticipated using the iPad for -- but it turns out, I always have my iPad in my car, and find it much more convenient overall than my CDs. I've even gotten rid of an old stereo I used to play CDs on in the house. They're just kind of obsolete once you switch to storing tunes on an i-device.The 64gb, I imagine would be perfect for storing a little of everything: Music, movies and apps. I'm actually glad I didn't go for the 64gb, as I'm perfectly happy with YouTube or streaming Netflix for a nominal monthly fee (more on this in a moment).Question #3: Is a refurbished iPad as good as a new one? Although I don't have a new one to compare, I'm going to say yes -- with one minor caveat. The refurbished iPads have new glass, a new back cover, a new battery, the same 1 year warranty, and go through the same rounds of testing that a new iPad goes through (if you buy from Apple directly, of course). And when you think about it, why wouldn't this be just as good as getting a new iPad? After all, even a new one could have flaws that might become apparent in the first year of ownership. There aren't guarantees with any device, and when you can knock 20% off the price and make a vote for recycling electronics -- better for the Earth -- why not do it, right? Oh, and the caveat? There are a couple of times I have come across some settings that were clearly from the previous user which is... a little odd. Nonetheless the pros outweigh this, so far as I'm concerned. All, told, if I had it to buy over again, I'd make precisely the same choices as this time: Black, 32gb, wifi, refurbished. So, onto the device itself....__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________THE IPAD: This is my first i-device, and I have always been a PC (Windows) user in the past, so it's an entirely new experience to me. I bought it primarily because when laptop shopping I ended up getting a fantastic deal on this behemoth of a wide screen laptop. Not portable at all... so what about when I'm at the coffee shop or the bookstore and I want to tinker around, check my mail, Facebook, etc. Here's where the idea of getting an iPad came in for me. I wanted an easy-to-carry, reasonably-sized, aesthetically pleasing (and here's where the competing devices were blown out of the water) device to fill my portable computing needs.Interestingly, some of the things I initially bought the iPad for are the same areas where the iPad falls short. I knew there would be no flash capability, and so expected this. In truth, it's not been much of an issue, and YouTube is way better on the YouTube-dedicated iPad program than it is on my flash-enabled Windows 7 laptop. But its the simple demands that are over-complicated by the iPad. Email is a bit tedious. Like the way that you can only delete one item at a time, see one folder at a time, can't do certain things like 'star' an email to make the level of importance or permanently relegate something to a junk mail category. Note: This refers to the included email program, but even if you do your email through Safari there's going to be a lot of awkward pinch-zooming to awkwardly replace the awkward lack of functions in Apple's email program. Similar issues arise with the Facebook app: It's hard to see who's online, for one thing. I can't share a story from someone else's wall to my own, and most infuriatingly -- if I post a comment, and hit enter too soon (easy to do with the on-screen keyboard layout-- backspace and send are way too close to one another) I can find no way of deleting it -- aside from opening Facebook in a browser window and trying to navigate the too-small text and awkward formatting, when this should be a an obvious and simple maneuver on the iPad app for Facebook. This is true of many apps that replace simple browsing, from eBay to Amazon to social networking. Most are beautiful, well-laid out, and missing at least one (often more) necessary function. And speaking of function, while zooming is a simple task, cutting and pasting is beyond annoying -- so much so that I often say 'hell with it' and don't bother copying things I otherwise would have. Apple needs to overhaul that function.It is the aesthetic beauty of the iPad that rescues it from a lesser star rating based on the lack of functionality inherent in some its apps/programs. I tried the Kindle Fire in the store and found it to be visually lacking in comparison -- and much slower as well. Meanwhile, the iPad is lightening fast with just about any task you set forth to do. It makes my laptop with better specs look like a dinosaur in contrast. The screen is breathtakingly beautiful (and unless you're trying to close out lots of open apps, incredibly responsive). It's so fun to just look at that you will find yourself wanting to store a photo library on there just to view the pictures on it. I love having pictures of my kids to show off on here for the older relatives at family get-togethers. It's definitely better than a traditional photo album -- and that sentiment comes from someone who is rather old-fashioned about anti-technological items like physical photo albums. Side note: My 300 moderately-sized photos are only eating about .5g of space. Another side note: The camera, while not graphically amazing, takes some of the speediest photos I've encountered with a digital device. Just as the iPad is able to display unparalleled beauty with photos, its video display is equally amazing. Since I care little for large-screen televisions, watching movies on here has actually made me consider getting rid of our two televisions. Netflix is convenient, the resolution and sound are perfect, and although the selection for streaming is quite limited, it fills our equally limited television needs. I haven't watched a single show on the television since I received the iPad, but I have watched the entire first season of Downton Abbey -- at my own convenience -- which was quite a luxury.Lastly, the apps that are built *specifically* for the iPad: The games (like Contre Jour, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope), Garage Band, and Drawing Pad are awesome toys to have on hand --and affordable (as well they should be, considering the cost of the device itself). There are endless free apps to play around with, download, play with a bit and often delete -- occasionally saving the really exceptional ones. This is a great bonus to owning the iPad. My husband has an iPod touch, and the apps are far more interesting on the iPad. There are even a number of educational apps that I didn't expect. I'm not one for computing for kids in most instances, and we stay away from all that LeapFrog and VTech madness -- instead opting for books. But I've been so impressed with apps like Solar Walk and Star Walk that I've been willing to make an exception. They're magical, and present really difficult concepts like the universe in a understandable way.Despite the iPad having some glaring flaws, I would buy it again. I believe now -- as I did when I chose it -- that it is the best tablet available. I can't stress how much I love perfection of the display. I've been pleasantly surprised by the unexpected things which it has been so handy for. I'd have loved to have known about its flaws in advance, which is why I write this review -- I hope someone else will go into their purchase feeling more informed and confident about their decision than I felt when I ordered mine. But if I had it to do again, I am pleased to say I'd make the same decisions all over again, so it was an easy 4 stars.

This is a truly awesome tablet, especially for the price. It is durable with a black front and white back. The screen is responsive and the accelerometer (part that tells tablet when it has been turned) is accurate. Good to play games with. This tablet is also useful for browsing the web. Can watch videos and play flash games directly on the web browser. (I suggest using a different web browser than the default, such as Dolphin or SkyFire. Runs faster.) The tablet doesn't freeze and works really well. There are volume buttons on the side which is helpful. Another review said there were problems with the device he ordered. People need to be aware that the reviews you see for the iPad often reflect the old Mac/PC platform wars with some people making comments who simply don't like iPads from a distance, without actually owning one, because they see it as part of the deplorable Apple mania they find so distasteful. They're entitled to their opinion, of course, but it is unfortunate they skew the evaluation of this product without the deep acquaintance one needs in order to give it an insightful evaluation.I have taught computer science at the college level for 26 years and have had computers with all kinds of operating systems. I don't own Apple stock and have never known anyone who works at Apple. I therefore have no connection to Apple. I have had my iPad for about a month and read a fair number of reviews before I purchased, spent some time using one at the store, and thought about what I might use one for, in contrast to my laptop with which I am well satisfied. People too often think of computers in terms of hardware, the specs and looks, instead of the software and the functionality. You should ask yourself, "What will I use this for that solves a problem I would like to have solved?" Software is always more important than hardware, even though it is the hardware that makes an impression.The iPad is not a laptop and is not principally a production computer, that is, a computer on which you are going to develop web pages, do serious graphics editing, or write a book. You could use your new Taurus to tow a trailer, but that is not what it is designed to do well. These things can increasingly be done on an iPad, but I don't believe they will ever be what it is best at. It is a portable media machine with an inviting touch interface that requires a somewhat different set of skills, which take a modest amount of time to learn. Surfing the web, checking email, watching movies, playing games, looking at new cars, reading the Economist magazine, all work better on an iPad than a laptop. It does these things very well indeed. There are now 80,000 apps for a wide variety of activities--given its design intent. The apps are either free or reasonably priced, so you can get a bunch from the "app store" for little

I usually don't write reviews but I am so impressed with this tablet that I had too. I have owned the iPad, Xoom, and my wife has an iPad2. The sony a blows them out of the water. 1. Doubles as a remote 2. Access to playstation games of which 5 are free 3. Design makes it comfortable to hold, especially while reading ebooks. 4. Read 1 through 4 again. All this coming from an applefanboy.

My husband bought me this tablet from Amazon for my birthday. I have had it for about 6 weeks now and am solidly impressed. The WIFI signal is consistently strong. My Sony S has been put through the paces as I use it as a self contained GPS and for books, games, videos, internet surfing, Skyping, a desk clock and a weather station. Not once has it stuttered or glitched. I was also surprised at how sharp the movies looked that I rented to watch on a long car trip. We plugged it into the car stereo for really great sound. I think my husband was thrilled because it kept me so occupied that I didn't nag him about his driving. We were in the car for 8 hours and the battery held up well. I only plugged it into the car charger for the last hour because I didn't want to risk running it down in the middle of the movie. When we got home, he was able to throw the movie to our TV and watch what he missed even though the TV isn't DLNA compatible. I think he said something about the version of Windows we have on the PC connected to it that allowed it to mimic the DLNA. When our 24 hour movie rental was up it just, poof, disappeared. How cool!The only accessories we bought for it are the ArmorShield screen protector and the Moko case. I highly recommend both. The case also doubles as a stand. My husband put up a small shelf in the kitchen where it sits for viewing and charging to complete my birthday present and he also connected it to some small speakers. Now I can watch Netflix while I cook and hear it over the noise of the dishwasher. He is the best!

I am not very tech savvy, so this review is not technical; it's a review from a user-friendly, cost-efficient perspective. I purchased this tablet from Amazon for my husband for Christmas after we had looked at one in person at a local store. The one feature that probably "sold" this tablet to him was that it is also a universal remote. We seem to always have problems with our remote controls and with a television, stereo system and DVD player, either the remote was missing, didn't work right or was just frustrating to have three+ remote controls. This tablet works fantastic as a remote control, in addition to all the features you expect in a tablet: clear resolution, fast accessing speeds surfing the net, Android applications, no lag time playing games, a reader, email, Facebook, etc. Cost was the one prohibitive factor that kept him from pursuing a tablet, but I was able to get a fantastic deal on Black Friday that no other retailer could match. He was very surprised when he opened this gift! After Christmas we purchased a Vizio 3D television with Blue-ray player. We also have a small Samsung home theater system. We couldn't believe how easy it was to delete the old TV (a 26" Sharp standard model) and add the new one to the remote control feature of the Sony Tablet. In a nutshell, this is a fun, versatile tablet and I highly recommend it!

I just purchased this Tablet from Tursion for a great price and I am very happy with it. It picks up the Wifi everywhere in my house and gets signals around me. I've already loaded some apps and e-books and it is working great. I can't figure out how to get Yahoo IM to work on it, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. It came with pretty good amount of memory, but I'll probably get a SD card for it. So far I'm very happy. It is a happening product.
