On another occasion, a student of his questioned the value of learning geometry, much like students today.

The Past is to be respected and acknoledged, but not to be worshiped. It is our future in which we will find our greatness.
He attacked everything in life with a mix of extrordinary genius and naive incompetence, and it was often difficult to tell which was which.
The people I distrust most are those who want to improve our lives but have only one course of action.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
To believe in God or in a guiding force because someone tells you to is the height of stupidity. We are given senses to receive our information within. With our own eyes we see, and with our own skin we feel. With our intelligence, it is intended that we understand. But each person must puzzle it out for himself or herself.
If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.
