Phobos' unusually close orbit around its parent planet produces some unusual effects.
As can be seen from Phobos, Mars would appear more than 6400 times and 2500 times brighter than the full moon is from Earth, taking up a quarter of the width of a celestial hemisphere.
Phobos orbits Mars below the synchronous orbit radius, meaning that it moves around Mars faster than Mars itself rotates. Therefore, it rises in the West, moved relatively quickly across the sky (in 4 h 15 min or less) and sets in the east of the country, about twice each Martian day (every 11 hours 6 min.) Because this is close to the surface, and equatorial orbit, it may not be above the horizon from latitudes greater than 70,4 °.
As seen from Mars' Equator, Phobos is one third the angular diameter of the full moon as seen from Earth. Observers in higher latitudes of Mars to see less of angular diameter, as they would have been much further from Phobos. Phobos' apparent size will depend from the actual to 45% as it passed over their heads, because of its proximity to the surface of Mars: equatorial observer, for example, Phobos is about 0.14 ° on the growth and swell to 0.20 ° at the time it reaches the zenith. For comparison, The sun will be apparent size of about 0.35 ° in the Martian sky.
Phobos' stages, as they can watch from Mars, take 0.3191 days (Phobos' synodic period) to run its course, but only 13 seconds longer than Phobos' sidereal period.
