With the election, however, Republican domination of the South and radical rule of the party were definitely ended.

If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read "President Can't Swim".
To believe in God or in a guiding force because someone tells you to is the height of stupidity. We are given senses to receive our information within. With our own eyes we see, and with our own skin we feel. With our intelligence, it is intended that we understand. But each person must puzzle it out for himself or herself.
I feel like a tiny bird with a big song!
The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it.
Whatever you do, do it to the purpose; do it thoroughly, not superficially. Go to the bottom of things. Any thing half done, or half known, is in my mind, neither done nor known at all. Nay, worse, for it often misleads.
No matter what I do, no matter how predictable I try to make my life, it will not be any more predictable than the rest of the world. Which is chaotic.
Sometimes the cure for restlessness is rest.
