World of Warships Marks the Sophomore Console

The crossover event between Azur Lane and World of Warships started yesterday, but today Wargaming released a trailer and its peculiar. While the Japanese trailer for the event was pretty much as you would expect, the western arm of the developer had something different in mind. They put World of Warships poster girl Dasha Perova in Azur Lane cosplay (portraying shipgirls Hood and Nelson from Azur Lane), added some computer graphics magic, and created a video that can be really epic or really weird depending on how much you like an enormous injection of weeb.

Wargaming is no stranger to games involving large war machines. The Belarusian company has been successful with its MMO shooter, World of Tanks, for almost a decade now, a game that received a console version back in 2016. However, warfare can go even bigger and more deadly than tanks and artillery, and the true pinnacle of men and machines facing off in a deadly struggle is to be found on the world's oceans; specifically during the great naval battles of the early twentieth century. With World of Warships: Legends, Wargaming has brought free-to-play naval warfare to consoles. Time for us to load the torpedoes and man the big guns. Whether you've got stuck in with the recent titles to come from Wargaming or not, it has to be said that they are on something of a roll right now. With World of Tanks proving incredibly successful in recent years, it wasn't unexpected to see more from the World of universe at some point. Of course, there was the aerial attempt to bring WW2 back to life with World of Warplanes, but with success in the skies proving mostly limited, its time to dip into the waters for a fresh shot at things with Wargamings latest title World of Warships: Legends.

A while ago, Wargaming announced a crossover with the mobile game Azur Lane. If you were wondering whether it'd come to the western servers, it just did. The event includes a free port that looks like Azur Lanes dorm and a personal assignment to complete by June 7. With it you can earn containers for a dedicated collection and camos (which you can see in the gallery below, and Azur Lanes shipgirl Hood as a Royal Navy commander for your ships. World of Warships: Legends marks the sophomore console offering from Wargaming, as the studio has ported the popular PC game World of Warships to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The naval MMO has officially launched on consoles at a price most people will find quite agreeable with their wallets.

Free-to-play naval combat game World of Warships will make a drastic and controversial U-turn and add submarines to the mix next year, Wargaming officials announced Tuesday morning. Gamers can get a taste of the silent service October 31. The company will let players sample submarines for the first time as part of a temporary Halloween gag, where ships and subs take on spooky themes.
