Kelli Jo Farwell and Shana Erin Lory affirmed their partnership yesterday at the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture. John Pullos, a Universal Life Church minister, led the commitment ceremony.

Ms. Farwell (above, left), is 33. She is studying for a bachelor's degree at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Ms. Lory, 32, is a strategic planner in New York at Euro RSCG, an advertising agency that is part of Havas, the French media and advertising company. She graduated from Cornell.

Christine Keff and Laurey Clark Masterton, both chefs, affirmed their partnership in a commitment ceremony yesterday in Barnardsville, N.C. The Rev. Howard Hanger, a Methodist minister, officiated at the Hawk and Ivy Bed and Breakfast.

Ms. Keff, 50, owns Flying Fish, a restaurant in Seattle. She graduated from Immaculate Heart College in Hollywood and completed an apprenticeship at the Four Seasons restaurant in New York, working with Seppi Renggli, then the chef there.

Ms. Masterton, also 50, owns Laurey's Catering and Gourmet to Go, a caterer and shop in Asheville, N.C. She is also the second vice president of the Asheville Chamber of Commerce. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire.

Oh, WOW! A gay celebrity wedding!

Paula Vogel, the playwright, and Anne Fausto-Sterling, a college professor, are to be married today at the Pamet Harbor Yacht and Tennis Club in Truro, Mass. The ceremony will be led by Marlene Gerber Fried, a friend of the couple who received permission from Massachusetts to officiate.

Ms. Vogel is 52. She is the playwright in residence at the Signature Theater Company in New York, which is presenting three of her plays this season. The first, "The Oldest Profession," is to open today. She won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1998 for "How I Learned to Drive." She is the Adele Kellenberg Seaver professor of creative writing at Brown and the director of its Master of Fine Arts playwriting program. She graduated from Catholic University in Washington.

Ms. Fausto-Sterling, 60, teaches biology and gender studies at Brown. She is the author of "Sexing the Body: Gender Politics and the Construction of Sexuality" (Basic Books, 2000). She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and received a doctorate in developmental genetics from Brown, where she and Ms. Vogel met more than 15 years ago.

Ms. Fausto-Sterling's previous marriage ended in divorce.
