Poems: Second Series (1891)
by Emily Dickinson
She sweeps with many-colored brooms
XL.
SHE sweeps with many-colored brooms,
And leaves the shreds behind;
Oh, housewife in the evening west,
Come back, and dust the pond!
You dropped a purple ravelling in,
You dropped an amber thread;
And now you've littered all the East
With duds of emerald!
And still she plies her spotted brooms,
And still the aprons fly,
Till brooms fade softly into stars—
And then I come away.
Pjesme: Druga serija (1891.)
od Emily Dickinson
Ona mete raznobojnim metlama
XL.
ONA mete raznobojnim metlama,
I ostavlja krhotine za sobom;
Oh, domaćice na večernjem zapadu,
Vrati se i pometi ribnjak!
Ispustila si u njemu ljubičastu nit,
Ispustila si i jantarnu nit;
I sada si posula cijeli Istok
S komadićima smaragda!
I još uvijek ona lamata svojim pjegavim metlama,
I pregače još uvijek lete,
Sve dok metle tiho ne izblijede u zvijezde—
I onda se ja odvajam.
