How to Hook Up a Generator
I don't know how true that is, but it doesn't seem totally unreasonable either.... Turn off the main water valve at the meter. A leak could cause an explosion that could cause bodily injury or death.
There 2 ways to connect a portable gas generator to a home: plugging in each appliance with individual cords or powering a circuit panel using a transfer switch. Just my 2 cents. Make sure that your grill is safely positioned far away from any flammable material and that the grill cover is completely open. A pressure test once the job is done is a must, basically putting air pressure on the run with a gauge attached and let sit for a day or two.

In this video, This Old House plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey explains how to install a propane-fueled stove. Call local propane supplier and have qualified technician install propane tank outside of home. Cover floor in front of range with cardboard. Slide range out from wall, unplug it and remove it. Bring new gas range into the kitchen. Measure hook, rear of new range to locate position of gas connection. Transfer measurement of gas connection on range to kitchen floor. Check to ensure pilot hole is in correct location, then enlarge the hole with 1-inch-diameter spade bit. Be sure pilot hole is in right spot, then enlarge it with 1-inch-diameter spade bit. Deburr the fresh-cut pipe ends with a pipe reamer. Apply gas-pipe joint compound to pipe threads, then join together the pipe sections using black steel fittings. Tighten each fitting using two house wrenches. Secure assembled pipe to overhead floor joists using pipe hangers. Extend gas pipe up through floor and into kitchen. Install a service valve to pipe end in kitchen. Spray paint gas pipe on propane of house with rust-preventative paint. Have propane technician perform a pressure test to ensure the propane tank isn't leaking. Connect copper gas line to propane tank. Call local gas company to inspect installation and verify that there are no leaks. Install anti-tip bracket to wall behind range. Make gas connection to rear of range. Plug in the range's power cord. Carefully slide the range into place, making sure it engages the anti-tip bracket. Remove hook sheets from kitchen floor. Perform leak test to ensure gas connections to range burners are sound.
