One reviewer does not recommend the tire for drag racing. The tire seems to wear very well.
The reason I ask is that with the Michelin you can run a higher pressure than the Shinko and still hook-up and the higher pressure will generate a better mph. The Hook Up radial rear drag tire features a lightweight Aramid belted carcass, with the softest compound available from Shinko.

The R1 is due for a rear tyre and saw they now have a drag radial tyre Anyone got tire, tried one or got a mate who has tried one???? From what I've seen around the Drag Strip, the Shinko Hook Up is much better that the Ultra Soft. My recommendation would be to get the latest Michelin Power One that looks like the Shinko Tires. The Michelin is certainly more expensive but; 1 It requires only a short burnout in comparison shinko the Shinko which ultimatly makes it last longer. I run it on the drag and strip. It hooks great on the street and track. As for the pilot I have not run it yet but I hear it is a great tire as well. I used to run the 2ct and loved it. But cost a little more than the hook-up and it last just as long and hooks up better with out letting as much air out. If so, what tire pressure did you run in order to make it hook-up and get your best time? The reason I ask is that drag the Michelin you can run a higher pressure than the Shinko and still hook-up and the higher pressure will generate a better mph. As for the higher price, it requires a much shorter burn-out thus adding more time to the life of the tire. Our last Shinko only lasted from March till July. Longer lasting Better hook-up More pressure for higher speed We shinko zx14 with hookup at 35 psi, went 1. Michelin great tire, just for bargains price hard to beat on shinko. My last ultra i put on in 2008, still on bike, thoneeds changed. Over 200 passes outta it and still hooks like crazy wore out. Got new hook to put on and try on my bike. Woulda put it on for last race, but we didnt have one in stock. Have buddy with big busa motir, 1640 cc, runs michelin and it hooks. Just hook for me to pay 250 for 1 tire when 100 for another tire works just as well. Well im not after every last. Ill let u know how new tire does and what air pressure i run.
